I am going to be completely honest and say that I have never really ordered Indian food before. I've had some dishes here and there, but never really ordered on my own. I have always wanted to try, but it's a bit intimidating trying a new cuisine and spending a lot of money on it, if you don't end up liking it. I received Kitchen Grill's menu at my apartment and saw the $20 special and decided this was the perfect opportunity. I am so glad I did. For my appetizer, I had the chicken soup, and for my entree I had the chicken tikka masala. I also added an order of the chicken tikka appetizer. I'd say the delivery took about 40 minutes, and everything was piping hot. It was also raining outside, yet nothing was cold. I was impressed on that alone (they have their own delivery drivers, not GrubHubs). I don't have the best frame of reference, but the food was so flavorful and delicious. The chicken soup was everything I needed and more (I had been feeling a bit under the weather). The chicken tikka masala was creamy and had a lot of chicken. I paid the extra $1 for the garlic naan and it was fluffy, but also had great char. Everything was spiced so well and I had to actively stop myself from eating because I was so full, yet wanted more. The proportions were also quite big, and I have another full meal from my one order. For the pricing, quality and proportions of food, this place is a must try. This has been our neighborhood takeout Indian spot for a while but the meal we had last night was some of the best Indian food I've had in a long time. The special (an appetizer, naan, and entree) is always a great deal. We got tiki masala, samosas, and garlic naan but added on Manchuria cauliflower and an order of spicy potato naan and oh my god--- I could not have stopped eating if my life depended on it. The pastry on the samosas and the naan were both so incredibly flaky and the flavor of everything was right on the money. Will order again and again. read more

This Indian place is awesome. Delivery came in 5 mins. I got chicken tikka Appetizer which was great and had yummy veggies with it and the mixed veggie curry. It was sooo yummy. They sent SOOO many sauces for me. The naan was extra soft and stretchy like I like it. It's a bit more expensive then other places for the takeout deal. This place is ok as a food delivery/ takeout option. I dont know about dining in person but I can vouch that this eatery provides satisfactory food when battling nighttime and desperate munchies or hunger. It was one of those nights; doing extra job work at home after a full day of in-person job work and my mind was running out of fuel. Yelp usually saves me, especially in desperate times of search. I chose this place because it was still open, they deliver via GrubHub (kinda dont like GrubHub but thats another review) and they were extremely close in distance. The menu was abundant in terms of options but I didn't want any meat so I settled for the special deal: muligatawny soup, vegetable curry as a main course and aloo paratha naan. No complaints about the delivery time since it was actually fast. The food was actually decent, like I said. The vegatable curry hit the spot especially with the side of basmati rice. The muligatawny soup was EXTREMELY salty and the taste was off too; unfortunately, I couldnt stomach it. Every spoonful increased my thirst of water and disappointment so I actually chucked the soup. The naan was good as an addition but I was full after chopping down on the vegetable curry and basmati rice. Getting the special deal is really a good deal but unfortunately, I thought the soup as an appetizer was blah. I did order from here twice and each time, the soup appetizer wasn't all that so maybe I might try other appetizers as options. read more

I hate it when I crave a certain type of food for days, finally order it, wait impatiently for it to be in front of me, then am greeted by a total letdown. One of the most disappointing meals I've had in the past year, and I absolutely love Indian food. Chicken tikka masala might as well have been a soup - that is how watered down the sauce was, not to mention it looked nothing like some of the creamier tikka masalas I saw in pictures so I'm guessing this is a new trick some genius in the kitchen came up with. All the side sauces were super watered down as well. How much money is this place really saving and how much of their reputation are they losing by diluting all the sauces? So strange. Fish pakoras tasted and looked like tiny, cold, flavorless, soggy McDonalds chicken nuggets. Naan might as well have been a piece of wet cardboard, rubbery to the point where it's impossible to take a bite out of it, and the fact that an extra dollar to make it a cheese naan meant that about ten unmelted sprinkles of shredded cheese would be thrown on it just goes perfectly with the overall experience. Obviously I will never order from Kitchen Grill Indian Restaurant again, and I strongly recommend that you skip it too if you are reading this. I have no idea how this place has such high rating on Yelp (exactly what got me to try it), but this is some of the worst Indian food I've ever had. In all seriousness, I would pick Trader Joe's chicken tikka masala and garlic naan from the freezer aisle over ordering from here any day. read more

Just not good. I ordered the special with app + main + naan. App was veg samosa, main was chicken saagwala. The samosas were fine. I would have them again. But something is just off with the chicken they use. It just tastes and smells off to me. The texture is a bit strange as well. I've tried this place 2 or 3x now to confirm but it's just off. I couldn't eat more than a few bites and tossed the rest. Maybe I'll try this restaurant again but stick to vegetarian items. Not only is Kitchen Grill our favorite casual Indian spot in the neighborhood, but they also killed it catering our wedding! Their prices were extremely reasonable, their food was delicious, and pickup was very timely. Our wedding food was mainly BBQ (separate caterer), so to add a few vegetarian options we went with some fried apps (samosa, aloo tikki, paneer tikka), along with daal makhani, chana masala, and saag paneer for the main course. Anwar is super communicative and easy to work with, and all of our guests loved the food. Would highly recommend them to provide food for an event in Brooklyn. read more

Love this place! The food is always excellent. I especially love the garlic naan and butter chicken. The portions are incredibly generous and lead to days of leftovers. My husband and I hv visited this restaurant numerous times...... and will continue to do so..... we enjoy the bbq lamb - it's a fascinating presentation- you can hear the dish approaching before you see it - it's the long siiiiiiizzle....shizzle!!!!.... sizzle!!!! And the hot steam billowing in the air......All eyes in the restaurant are usually turned in our direction...lol....we dive in and eat this tasty meal.....the other thing is that it's also covered in lots of onions and other veggies. When I called to let them know they kept asking me the same questions over and over and told me next time I come in they will take care of me. Are you kidding? Like I'm really going to want to eat from your place again. When I asked for a refund they said they couldn't do it. I guess they would rather have a bad review. Saag Paneer was watery and bland, lamb kebabs were so tough they were inedible, the naan was dry and tasted as if it had been manufactured days ago off site. I so rarely write Yelp reviews, but I had to add my voice to the chorus of positive reviews (which is how I found this place). With one delivery order, this has become our favorite Indian spot. The food was so fresh and flavorful. The Special Deal was indeed a deal. The Paneer Makhnee and Paneer Masala contained a generous amount of paneer - a rarity! I had left a note when ordering requesting they make both spicy (a 7 out of 10 on the spice scale) and they were. And everything was packed well. Last night I struck gold! Kitch Grill was not decent. It was not good. It was heavenly and great! Each item that I ordered from the nan, to the mulligatawny soup, to the superb cauliflower Manchurian (an appetizer), to the chicken tikka masala, was perfectly prepared with finesse and wonderful flavor. Wow people-- what a neighborhood gem! First of all! The atmosphere is so unexpectedly beautiful. Great lighting, not too bright. Tables decorated with glass and cloth napkins, not plastic and paper. These little touches make a big difference. I was immediately greeted with a smile and offered suggestions about the menu. I ordered the Tikka chicken to go. The man at the front, the owner perhaps, was SO smiley and friendly it made ME smile. Also they offered me a beautifully sweet and spiced rice dessert complementary while I was waiting! The paneer tikka was filled with food coloring. Barely had any taste. It tasted like tomato sauce and paneer. No other spices feel like they were added. Same goes for tandoori chicken. It didn't fall of the bone and didn't taste marinated at all. The flavor wasn't there and it didn't taste authentic AT ALL. Very disappointed. This place is top tier - inside is very quaint and feels fancy but prices are super reasonable. The level of service is luxury my water was never empty and I drink like a fish, legit 9 refills. They even box you leftovers for you rather than having you do it. Rice pudding at the end always satisfies sweet tooth. White glove experience, delicious food, for average Joe prices. I love Spicy food that's not overpowering, but accentuates the natural flavors of the food! This restaurant did exactly that for me, without me having to ask. I find most Indian food to be way too spicy, that I can not finish my meal. I ordered delivery with them. And, surprisingly the quality was just as good as If we ate at the restaurant. So if you like extra spicy food, you may want to put a side comment, to make it extra spicy. As always it's customer service. There is a gentleman who answers the phone who is always difficult. Does not work with the customer to figure out who you are. Because we know that you can look up a customer by phone number address name any number of ways. He pretends this is not the case that insist that you dig through your phone and find your own phone number when you order three times a week. Just not worth it. I ordered the delivery special with ka-chori (appetizer), spicy coconut lamb (entree), and aloo paratha (bread). No problems at all with the delivery, it arrived exactly when estimated. Overall, I thought the food was fairly good. Not the best curry I've ever had, but quite good (probably a 7/10). The ka-chori was interesting. Kitchen Grill delivered the cakes cut up into small cubes - maybe just their delivery serving style. It was a somewhat sweet tomato-based sauce, fairly standard flavors. The spicy coconut lamb was also good. Definitely had the coconut flavor. However, it wasn't particularly spicy, despite the fact that I asked for extra spiciness in the order. If you like spicy food, HEAVILY emphasize that fact. It was somewhat like tikka masala with coconut milk substituted for the yogurt. But again, about a 7/10. The aloo paratha was too greasy but had good flavor. It's fairly dense - reminded me of pierogi dough in flavor and texture. The raita, green sauce, brown sauce, and apricot chutney were all very good, one of the highlights for me. Overall not a bad experience, I'd try their offerings again, emphasizing spiciness in my order and staying away from the greasy aloo paratha. read more

I really enjoy the food at this restaurant hidden amongst several storefronts. You can order take-out, but I prefer to dine-in, simply because it's usually empty and the staff is very attentive.
