The shank was just bone and rice. For the prices they charge, we could have (and should have) sat in a nicer restaurant and had faster service. We wanted to pickup something quick after work. I did a search looking for somewhere to get a spinach pie and luckily I found this place! I got a sampling of a few different items (all vegetarian) and everything was wonderful. I ordered the falafel plate, Mediterranean platter, samosa, spinach pie and two desserts. The potato samosa I meant to take one bite of in the car, did not make it home, I wish I had gotten another. Rice was incredibly flavorful and the tabouli is the freshest I've ever tasted. The owner was welcoming and offered sample of his dish of the day as well as his tzatziki when I told him it was my favorite (have him add garlic for you) and make sure to get yourself a piece of the Pistachio baklava! read more

Found out by accident that this new place in West Hartford is run by the Owner/Chef of the now closed River's Edge Mediterranean Cuisine in Avon. We would quite often drive all the way out there to eat! They are now running Kitchen Plate where we ordered our take-out dinners tonight. We both got the Lamb Tagine Bowls: braised boneless lamb, rice, harrisa, veggies and dry fruits. Everything was fresh and delicious. It came with a small side salad. The only complaint was the small amount/lack of dried fruits. Also got two pieces of baklava; one walnut and the other pistachio and I don't know which was my favorite but both excellent. The Spinach and Feta Pizza will definitely be my next order. read more

Finally paid a visit to Kitchen Plate yesterday and it was phenomenal! I had the Chicken Gyro bowl, which comes with rice, white sauce and a side of salad and yogurt. The chicken was very tender and tasty and rice excellent as well. As a bonus, the owner Khaled offered me a slice of their new Italian pizza and it was so yummy. I'll definitely be back! read more

Clean space, friendly staff, and good food. I had just a side of cauliflower.. kind of expensive for a side but it was good. Boyfriend got the chicken gyro bowl which was decent portion, lots of rice. Pretty big menu so we will be back to try other things! read more

Very delicious. I would just recommend to make more detailed menu items explanations. Like they have parmesan cheese in their pizza, which is not listed in the menu item description. I personally do not like parmesan's sharp smell in my pizzas. So, minor improvements can make this place a fantastic restaurant. Overall the gyros and fries are outstanding. read more

Food is always freshly prepared. Had the quinoa avocado bowl with added chicken and a cup of the red lentil soup. Took about twenty minutes for food, which is understandable. $8 extra for added chicken, bringing the bowl to over $23 with tax. Small cup of soup was about $8 with tax. Quinoa was largely under seasoned, and the cooked pumpkin and/or squash included in the bowl was undercooked, closer to the raw side. Also, avocado was underripe, so not too pleasant to eat. Soup was served scalding hot to the point that the layers separated. Needed about ten minutes to cool down before it was palatable. Staff and owners seem like nice folks. Hoping their seasoning game improves some. Virtually same layout as old Boston Market with tables in the same order, etc. prices felt a bit much for what I'd gotten. I have heard good things about this new place in town, was waiting til they had online ordering which they finally do. I ordered a chicken gyro bowl which was quite good, tasty and a generous portion. It wasn't too crowded and got in and out in a reasonable amount of time. It is a counter service type place but has tables, though not much in a way of atmosphere. But the food is good and reasonably priced. read more

First time going there and I already know I'll be a repeat customer. I got the falafel and rice bowl (gluten free and vegan) and it's delicious. They offer many options that are GF, vegetarian, vegan, and have plenty of meat and fish options as well. While they're a tad more expensive than your typical take out, their quality far exceeds what you're paying. No question the best falafel I've had- crunchy outside yet soft and moist inside with the perfect spices. Portions are good sized so you won't leave hungry. Decided to try this place after my shift and I'm so glad I did! Great selection of Mediterranean and American food. Lots of vegan and gluten free options. I'm not usually a fan of gyro bowls but their's was AMAZING. The owner is very friendly and quick with orders. Place is very clean inside. My husband saw this place for the first time today and surprised me by bringing home a chicken shawarma plate/bowl. My first bite was dyno-mite! Wow! So flavorful! The aroma, the taste, the freshness! It was super high quality and possibly the best Mediterranean food I've had so far in CT! It reminded me of Lebanese tawook. The yellow basmati rice was perfectly spiced with garbanzo beans, the salad was so fresh and delicious, and the grilled chicken slices were unbelievable with the smoky roasted flavor and tender and juicy topped with creamy yogurt sauce. The chicken gyro was delicious, and large. The pita bread is warm, soft and fluffy (not like those dry pita pockets) and chicken is well spiced. The only problem is they won't customize things -- e.g. I like a scoop of hummus in my sandwich (which I would have paid extra for), but they made me buy a whole side of hummus for $ 7 or $8, which is pretty pricy for a side. My husband got falafel on pita, and it was also excellent. He ordered a side of quinoa, which was really yummy (sweet with raisons I think), but also pricy. Food is well made, but wish the sides cost less -- or wish you could just get a scoop of hummus on your sandwich for an extra $2-3. read more

I was thrilled to see them open, as it seems every time I was in the area, they were not. I stopped in to pick up lunch; ordered a quinoa avocado bowl but it was missing the butternut squash, pumpkin seeds and tahini entirely. Side salad was soggy and unnecessary considering greens were served on top as well. IMO, too expensive for what was served $16.
