TL:DR - Great food, for a great price! On our way to Muir woods we stopped by Kitchen Sunnyside for a quick breakfast to keep us fueled for the day. We couldn't have chose a better place! Located on a quaint street, lined with boutique shops, is Kitchen Sunnyside. They have an extensive breakfast menu that ranges from American, to Mexican, Asian, and there's even a loco moco. I went with the Frisco Scramble; chicken apple sausage, red onions, bell peppers, and avocado. You also get a choice of toast or english muffin. The food took only about 10min to come out and it was much more than I anticipated. Everything was cooked to perfection, the eggs were moist, the vegetables soft but with a little bit of crunch, and the toast a golden brown. I was starving and began scarfing it all down. I would say I have a pretty healthy appetite, and I didn't hold back, knowing that we'd be hiking all day. But I was still unable to finish all my food. Potatoes and bits of toast still remained, even though my soul wanted to eat them. Overall, the food at Kitchen Sunnyside was great and the price was just as good! This is one of the more popular spots for brunch in Mill Valley. It's a cozy restaurant so it gets crowded and there's usually a waitlist but staff is fantastic at getting everything moving quickly. My fiancé brought my family and I here for brunch since he knew we are big fans of burgers and chicken and waffles(hence why we had copies of each other's orders haha). My parents and I got the burgers with fries, I ordered it medium rare while they both ordered theirs medium well and each of our orders were cooked exactly the way we requested. It's always a big win. When that happens because sometimes some places will have a tendency to overcook. My sister and fiancé ordered the chicken and waffles which they not said they enjoyed. Usually restaurants serve a huge piece of chicken with their waffles but here they give you smaller tenders which they preferred since it's easier to eat. Service was quick and friendly. Inside the shop was intimate and cozy. They have an extensive breakfast, brunch and lunch menu so I'll definitely be back to try their other items like their millionaires bacon which was heavily advertised on the staff's shirts! read more

If there's one dish that I really know a lot about, it's eggs benedict. After eating this dish habitually throughout my life, I didn't think that this restaurant's benedict could surprise and impress me as much as it did. There were three things that stood out about this dish: the cucumber, the quality and quanity of the smoked salmon, and the way that they infused the lemon. Typically, the only lemony taste you get from an eggs benedict comes from the hollandaise, but it tasted as if they very thinly sliced pieces of lemon between the english muffin and salmon. Between that and the cucumber, there was a freshness and even lightness you hardly ever get with eggs benedict. Also, the potatoes were delicious. I noticed that this restaurant's menu has a lot of Korean influence and I think this dish also encapsulates the ingenuity and big flavors from simple ingredients that is a hallmark of Korean cuisine. The best breakfast we had during our visit in California! From the moment we were greeted until we left was an amazing experience, the food came out fast and was of great quality and taste. My husband ordered south of the border and I ordered the Oscar. My husband stomach is a little sensitive if bad oil or food is used and can usually tell within 30 minutes of eating, everything was made fresh for sure! You can tell they have amazing team members on their staff by how well they all work together and help each other out which you don't see very often! Million Dollar Bacon, baby!! This place was such a wonderful find. My hubs Yelps for good breakfast spots whenever we travel together because breakfast is his favorite meal of the day. He came across this place and it was mid-week so the crowds weren't bad at all. It's in mill valley downtown so parking was random but ambience was high. It felt like we were having breakfast in Grandma's kitchen! Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. Our table was near the windows in front which meant great people watching. The tea presentation was incredible - I felt like I was either in Japan or a fancy hotel. And our food was amazing! But the topper was - the million dollar bacon! Bacon is my favorite food anyway... but this was thick, dripping in carmelized maple, and a bit spicy to add excitement to my tastebuds. The most wonderful brunch spot I've ever experienced, my original plan was just to stop by the bakery across the way but the cozy atmosphere and warm smiles and energy from the staff drew me and my friends in. The food was beyond amazing, the amount flavor and culture in one spot just blew my mind and made the trip from San Diego to here so much more special. Tucked on a small street lined with home decor, art stores, and other small restaurants. Kitchen Sunnyside is the local breakfast spot every city needs in their downtown. * Fried Chicken & Waffles * Fried Chicken Sandwich + Millionaire's bacon * Bloody Mary If you enjoy fried chicken, you can not go wrong with any item that includes chicken on their menu. The crunch is akin to the crumble you might experience at Popeyes. Seasoned and crunchy! This is crucial, especially since they use breast meat, which is typically less flavorful than say a leg or thigh, in my opinion. Shoe string fries had a light crunch but not over fried. Pickles were on the side with my sandwich, topped with plenty of avocado and melted gooey cheddar cheese. It was very good! I am a sucker for details and the presentation here was on point. Garden sprouts on top of the burger gave it a rustic feeling, note the old-style wooden table and chairs. Even the Bloody Mary had all the accoutrements of a nice cocktail bar. The only item I was not a huge fan of was the bacon. I had Millionaire's bacon in San Francisco several years ago and the experience was the same. A little too soft and sweet. It is not bad, simply not my preferred but I am glad I tried it again. Does the food stand the test of take-away? Yes, in fact, as I am writing this review I finished the waffles and chicken. The waffles held their form and reheated well in the oven, along with the chicken which was just as flavorful and not dry. Service was friendly, and attentive. This is the perfect stopover before or after your visit to Muir Woods. They have the famous millionaires bacon which is a perfect combination of meaty, sweet and spicy flavors. I got the Florentine eggs Benedict which was filling. The hot stone rice bowl also looked great but we didn't get to try it on this visit. Surprisingly, we had a very short wait (just 5 min) to get a table for Saturday brunch - so don't need to account for Sweet Maple / Kitchen Story wait times - definitely a big plus! read more

We had a couple of parties on the waitlist before us who were seated at tables and we were offered the counter, which is where we sat. We ordered a breakfast combination plate and a western scramble. We both found the hash browns to be too soggy and this not crispy enough. The other items on the breakfast plate was just average. The western scramble was very big but I thought it had far too much meat and not enough of the bell peppers and onions as it initially listed. The food was fine but for the price it's pretty high. Came down from Mt Tam around 1:30 hungry for lunch. We ordered the chicken sandwich (my son's gauge of how good a restaurant is), a BLT with Millionaires bacon, and an avocado toast with tomatoes, honey, and millionaires bacon. ($7 extra if you upgrade from regular bacon on any dish) what is millionaires bacon? It is high quality thick bacon baked with brown sugar and cayenne for 30-40 minutes. Delicious. The BLT was better for the addition of two slices for an additional $7. My avocado toast was not, as they had cut the slice into little pieces, denying me the pleasure of biting into it or deciding how much I wanted to eat for each bite. There is no way that there was enough bacon pieces to make two slices, yet my upgrade was just as expensive as my husbands. The money wasn't the problem, the inequity was! Kid said chicken sandwich was good and devoured the entire thing, even though he had a fruit tart from next door as we walked into the diner lol. The waitstaff were great, service was great. I wish I had gotten that second slice of Heaven on my toast. Maybe in the future ask for the bacon to remain while. read more

This is a perfect place to grab brunch after a morning hike! The staff is extremely friendly, the menu is diverse enough so everyone can be happy, and most importantly, they have Millionaires Bacon. All the food items we tried were delicious. I tried the Hot stone dish for the first time. I ordered it with combined chicken and shrimp, which was just absolutely delicious. A bit pricey for the combination, but I knew that going into it. Plus, I got enough that I ate the other half for dinner that day at home. I received my order piping hot, very flavorful with excellent mix of textures in every bite! The Chicken and waffles were yummy as well with nice fresh fruits to go with it. The Millionaires bacon is as good as we've had them in their sister restaurants in SF & Berkeley! The Millionaires Bacon is spicy and good; our group also got the Big Hip (deep fried French toast with custard cream), the scramble with the Dungeness Crab, One of the Benedicts and some pancakes. All plates were cleared, everyone was thoroughly happy. Would return again. Cozy dining room, not too noisy even though it was nearly full.
