Overall, pleased with this establishment! The food isn't exactly the best but I was satisfied with speed of service and customer service. Customer service: excellent! Couldn't ask for friendlier folks! Coffee: now I have mentioned this in previous reviews, if this isn't touted as a coffee shop I don't judge too harshly. But I have to mention that it was particularly weak and tasteless. Food: Meh. Now granted, I only ordered eggs, toast, bacon, and a small salad but the eggs were obviously from a carton and kind of oily and the bacon was not very crispy but the toast was good! My friend ordered the loaded hash browns (w/jalapenos) and was very happy with them!! I had a bite and was very satisfied. So my food choice might have been at fault here for I might have been happier if I had ordered something more exciting Speed of service: service and food were prompt as could be! What neat little restaurant. Been waiting years to finally drive down to this place. I love French toast. The Kitchen table is now #1 for there Apple French Toast. It's to die for. I was trying to locate this place only to discover I'm right in front of it. No big sign but a big ol' red storefront. The front desk at St. James Hotel in Red Wing recommended this place as the best breakfast she ever had. Can't argue with a confident woman. Linda H. can attest that I tend to pick apart my breakfast, unless it's pancakes. I got the loaded hashbrowns with bacon, and just ate it by the forkful. It might be a first. Just loaded with cheese and delicious. I had a bite of the butcher omelette, very good as well. At 9:30 there were already people drinking at the bar. Our server looked like she could be related to the star of the Murder she Baked series on the Hallmark channel. When we were having breakfast here last weekend I listened to a woman in the next booth rave about the buttermilk pancakes. Well really - I mean a buttermilk pancake is a buttermilk pancake, but, I ordered one huge one with a side of bacon when we were there a couple days ago. Wow! Pancake was fantastically delicious (just like Lucky Charms) and the bacon is so good, lean and applewood smoked. Anyway, my dining companion always orders the sausage patties which are made on the premises but he ordered the bacon as well. He said from now on he'll be hard pressed to choose. This bacon talk reminds me of Burgess Meredith in Grumpier Old Men talking with his son, Jack Lemmon about his bacon addiction. But I digress..... read more

Nice improvement! I did like the 214 but I love The Kitchen Table. Good food, nice atmosphere, much more contemporary feel. I'm sure it will thrive. If you haven't been there yet I don't really understand what you are waiting for. I enjoyed the hamlet which is reserved only for those who understand that dietary cholesterol is not the enemy. It is a ham omelet with a sunny side up egg wrapped in it then topped with hollandaise! Delicious. They make hand pressed hamburgers (which I guess is to say you are not being served a prefab frozen patty) and have one listed gluten free hamburger, although many of the choices looked to be easily modified for the gluten avoiding set. My wife and I recently took a day trip from St. Paul through south western Wisconsin, starting with breakfast at Kitchen Table. This place is great! Walking in I found the atmosphere to be very inviting, and the restaurant is clean and clearly well taken care of. It was pretty full, so we grabbed two open seats at the bar. The crowd was a good mix, filled with young families, grandparents, and a couple groups of motorcyclists out enjoying the day. The service was prompt, and I started out with a great Bloody Mary - which is about half the price it would be at home, and comes with a hefty slice of bacon. I love Wisconsin! For breakfast I had the Ruben Benedict, and it was really great. I think my wife had the "chicken hot plate", though I could have the name wrong. It was a waffle with chicken and some other stuff I can't remember - you don't need to know though, just order it. Summary - this place is great, and I would make the drive for breakfast even if we weren't going that way. Definitely worth the stop! read more

This quaint place on Main Street Prescott is worth the drive for sure. We have 3 favorite breakfast places and it's hard to nail down the best of the best of them. Things to know: You can't go wrong with your food choice, we've tried and are never disappointed. Get here before 9 am or plan on waiting. It's certainly a local favorite!!! The staff are kind, helpful and despite being a packed house they are extremely attentive. As other reviewers have mentioned there indeed is a bar inside, but I disagree it's the focus or overwhelming. When tables are scarce you will be offered a seat at the bar, which is a nice option. The coffee could be better, but it doesn't keep us from drinking several cups. ;-) We visit the Kitchen Table nearly every weekend and don't plan on stopping!!! read more

Found this place by accident - we didn't even see a sign on the building when walking by. Luckily the gal working saw us looking a little lost and encouraged us to stop in. But I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised. It's small, but super cute inside. I'm curious if it's busier during the winter season since there's no patio. We ordered the brat fondue to start, and along with the sausage it came with a soft pretzel and apples with a gooey gouda sauce. Not bad at all. For the main dish, we ordered the seasonal meatloaf and gouda mac, making sure to wash it down with a spotted cow on tap. Unpretentious, tasty, flavorful, comfort food. Our server was very attentive, no complaints there. We didn't get a chance to try dessert, but the menu said they were homemade. We will be back to try. We thought we'd give this place a try in Prescott, Wisconsin. It hasn't been open long at this location. Previously, this was a place called "The Boxcar" and it would have gotten one star from me. So, we were hoping this was an upgrade! It was! Nice, cozy looking interior. Very comfortable. I had the Gouda Mac and cheese with ham-AMAZING! My husband had the Rybicki burger. The Rybicki's are famous for cheese around here! The happy hour is great-$1.75 rail and domestic beer. $2.25 craft beer. I tried a drink I hadn't had before-a Bulldog. It was great-like my Starbucks drink with liquor! Our waiter was very attentive, but not hovering-love it! Give it a try-you won't be disappointed! read more

Every summer, a group of us get together in WI for a week's vacation with local friends. Other than Philander's, this is the only place we go to. We've been doing this for so long that even though we're only seen once a year, the staff recognizes us at once. I'll be honest - I HATE restaurants. I don't often visit them, anywhere. This from years of terrible experiences around my home area. Kitchen Table is different, though. You feel welcome there. The service is always good, and the food is beyond belief. We've had everything on the menu over the years, and there is nothing that isn't worth it. By far, the fish and chips are the best I've ever had. The breakfast Butcher's Omelette, including chorizo, is amazing. The carrot cake (homemade) is to die for. Random coffee mugs, too. You never know which funny one you'll get. If you are near the Prescott area, you must try this place. read more

I was visiting friends in Prescott and had breakfast four mornings at the Kitchen Table. It's almost good enough for a special trip from California. Their Red Flannel Hash is even better than my grandmother made. Their omelets are incredible. (I tried two and friends covered the rest of their menu.) You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I wish I could give more than five stars. This is one of the best places I've ever eaten in my nearly 80 years. read more

The best restaurant you might have never heard of. Every thing is scratch made and tastes so incredibly fresh and amazing! Have had both breakfast and lunch here, never disappointed. Fast, friendly service and food is always served hot. If you are not completely 100% happy with your order, they promptly correct the issue. I know this because I made the mistake, only when asked, of letting the waitress know that my food wasn't quite as rare as I had ordered and before I could say but it was really good, my plate was gone and a perfectly cooked steak was back in front of me before I knew it! However my dad and I have tried stopping in a few times recently close to lunch time on a Sunday after church, but it was to busy. Amazing brunch! A little gem of Prescott. Stopped here for a mid Friday drink and brunch. It was nice and quiet, and they serve brunch until 2, score! Decided to get the lobster, and asparagus eggs Benedict and a pineapple mimosa. How can you go wrong? Seriously delicious. And they don't skimp on the lobster which is wonderful plus, the asparagus was cooked perfect as well, not soggy perfect bite. Eggs were poached beautifully. Added a side of fruit, which I was surprised by. For 3 bucks, they give you a red apple, green apple and orang- wonderful portion sizes. They also have the option of ordering a half size of the Benedict, which is a great option cause who brings home eggs Benedict for leftovers? The bar was clean, and service was exactly what you would expect. I left full and definitely happy. read more
