I went with a few friends on a weekday around noon, and we ordered the beef bulgogi rice bowl, beef bulgogi sandwich, and Bann salad (salad with crispy rice squares and dressing). The total was about $42, which isn't bad for DTLA. The restaurant itself is clean, with some seating. It looks like most customers order to-go. The food came out in about 10 minutes, but the salad came out without the crispy rice squares. When we brought this to the cashier's attention, she stated that they didn't sell the squares anymore, but the menu hadn't been updated to reflect this. Although she offered another item as a form of compensation, we should have been told about this change before we paid. The bulgogi rice bowl and bulgogi sandwich were good but not groundbreaking. The bulgogi itself lacked some flavor, and the bowl itself didn't have that much meat. Everything was cooked well though. Came back after a year and was pleasantly surprised to see that this place seems to have taken off! I got the spicy pork belly bowl this time, and although I didn't like it as much as the bulgogi sandwich or the pork belly platter, it was still really good. I actually almost ordered a peach oolong tea as well, and the employee was kind enough to tell me that it is on the sweeter side (I don't love super sweet drinks) and couldn't be adjusted. OMG--I can't believe I just discovered this place, and I'm about to move out of LA! Bann is a small, super cute spot that's perfect for a quick dine-in meal or grabbing something to go. The service is fast--I didn't have to wait long at all for my order, which is always a plus. I've ordered from Bann twice now--once through DoorDash and today for carryout. The first time, I got the spicy chicken bowl with extra chicken. It was so good! I wish it had a little more kick, but the flavor was on point--even when I reheated it the next day. Solid 10/10. Today, I tried the beef bulgogi with extra beef, and wow--Bann nailed it! The flavor and texture were perfect. I love that sweet bulgogi flavor, and they really delivered. I would say there were a few too many onions for my taste, but still a strong 9/10. The only downside for me is the white rice--it's a bit too mushy and clumpy. The staff was really sweet too. The only bummer is how small this place is. They have one table inside, a counter with miss-matched chairs, and a little seating outside. Which has a good flavor. Nothing amazing that brings me to my knees and gives me a revelation. It's fine. Fine enough that I would come back to eat that. The real winner is the sweet and spicy boneless Korean fried chicken. That side alone is delicious and worth it. I didn't see anything on the menu that includes this item as part of the bowl but they should make a rice bowl with this chicken as the main ingredient and some veggies. This is a little hidden gem for sure!!! I ordered the Braised Beef Grilled Cheese and it was probably one of the best I've had. The beef had amazing flavor, was super tender and was paired with an amazing sauce. My girlfriend ordered the Bulgogi Beef bowl and she loved it. The bowls and to-go containers may look "small," but they make it up in the depth, and the portion size is perfectly suited to call this establishment quite the "bang-for-buck" valued restaurant. I am a spoiled, picky eater, and yet I'm always extremely satisfied with these portion sizes, which is rare for this part of town, notorious for making you routinely feeling ripped-off with generic high "hipster" prices for miniscule portion sizes. The bulgogi is flavorful and obviously executed well, as is the chicken and braised beef. What blew me away though, was the kimchi fried rice with the options to add extras like beef, chicken or tofu. In my twenty-two years working downtown, I have never had such a perfectly priced satisfying to-go lunch. I have had to force myself to pace out my visits, as I would literally eat here every day without question, to the dismay of my budget!
