We stopped by Grand Central Market in Downtown Los Angeles. This place is very busy. I suggest parking in the garage next door although it can get full on high volume times like lunch hour and weekends. We walked the entire market and decided on getting sandwiches at Ghost Sando Shop. I ordered the Reuben's Cousin and my daughters ordered the Veg Out. Both were very tasty and flavorful. The staff is friendly and got our orders to us in a timely manner. The market place is fully packed and finding tables to sit can be challenging. Luckily we went to the downstairs area and made friends with one of the vendors. She offered us a long table on the side of the wall for us to eat our lunch. It comes with pastrami, tomato paste, hash brown, and a sunny side up egg. I got their shortie size but it was still HUGE! Came during the lunch rush on a Tuesday and man, GCM was packed! I opted for this store since the line was moving pretty fast in comparison, and sandwiches do not take long to make vs other places. Took about 10 minutes from the time of ordering to get my sandwich. I ordered the Melrose in a medium. I like how they give you a lot of meat, and how the sauces and seasonings don't feel overpowering. A medium is perfect for someone on their lunch, but might be a little big if you have even a slightly smaller appetite. The bacon could've been more crispy, but overall the sandwich lived up to the expectations. The bread was a little flat and not as crunchy/flavorful as I would've liked. I also wished they had more bread options other than dutch crunch, but maybe that's a possibility in the future. Made it out to GCM and knew I had to finally give Ghost Sando a shot. I ordered the firebird sub with regular Turkey and it did not disappoint. Everything was well made and delicious. But I do want to note the subs on the higher end, I paid nearly $40 for two subs and 1 bag of chips. I do wish the chipotle sauce was a bit more spicy but it was still a great bite. As an avid sandwich lover and someone who spends way to much time at the Grand Central Market, it was finally time to have my first sandwich from Ghost Sando Shop. This shop is located right in the first aisle and thanks to it's bright paint job and cool aesthetic, this place is pretty hard to miss. The menu here has consists of both breakfast and lunch, offering three sandwich sizes, as well as a pretty solid selection for both meal times. Even though it was hard to decide, I finally pulled the trigger on the "Kickin' Chicken" and a pineapple passionfruit drink to help wash it down. There were four of us and the food didn't take too long to come out, but thanks to this place being packed it can be pretty difficult to find a place to sit down sometimes. The pineapple passionfruit drink was absolutely delicious! It was super fruity, cold, and as refreshing as a drink could be. The Kickin' Chicken sandwich was a pretty decent size considering I ordered the smallest one, but packed some dang good flavour for the chicken which also had whatever the blast spread is, chipotle adobo spread, melted mozzarella, cheddar cheese, lettuce, pickled jalapeno, toato, white onion, and some of the best bread I've had with a sandwich in a long time. IT WAS SO GOOD! Overall, Ghost Sando Shop is the premier sandwich place in Los Angeles and I totally get why now. The pastrami is nice and thin, easy to chew, and not like some places that serve leather saddle-like thickness. Dutch Crunch bread always a fave. Cons: Although packed good, there's not much to make it a signature sandwich IMO. Which leads to my next con: Price: Paid almost 20 bucks for a sandwich I can get a comparable portion, filling, and taste for around 5 bucks less at Ike's. Pre-packaged bread...I know said love the Dutch crunch, but it makes such a HUGE difference to have freshly baked bread on site. I don't like seeing rolls wrapped in plastic, but that's just me. I ordered the Uncle Nikki, everything ok when ordering, cashier was kind. First, about 5 min into waiting for food, 1 worker went on break and sat at their counter (so about 2 feet from the food line). Next about 8min into waiting for food, the cashier went outside and didn't came back the rest of the time I was there (the location is next to a door that goes outside). About 12 minutes into waiting the couple who ordered after me went to the counter and asked the person bagging the sandwich for hers, he told her not yet ready. About 15 min into waiting my drink is half gone, the 2 workers making the sandwiches finish their orders and 1 goes inside the prep room with 2 other people and the other starts sweeping the floor. So, the cashier is outside, 1 person is on break eating at the counter, 3 workers are in the prep area, 1 person is sweeping and there are 7 bagged sandwiches just sitting there. After about a min a worker comes out of the prep room, and I approach the counter and ask if they're calling the orders out. She looked confused. She asks for my name and finds it at the very beginning of the line, ready and sitting there for at least 10min. If it was a hot sandwich, 100% would be 1 star. She proceeded to laugh..... I pointed at the family of 4 and told her to ask for their names cuz they had been waiting longer than me and walked away without a laugh. Food: since I was waiting for so long, I got to see all the sandwiches being made (online orders). it was apparent the guy did not know the sandwiches. he was hesitating on the ingredients, taking stuff off.. when i finally got to eat mine, it was not balanced at all. the mayo and dressing were super overwhelming. just really disappointing overall.
