I was here three times this past weekend, once for a Saturday morning bunch and the other two times were for the nightime "dance club." The inside of Kites is decorated somewhat nicely with a high ceiling that allowed exposed beams to show as well as a lounge type area around the fire place and finally something that reminded me of a cool looking fence around the back wall. If I was rating Kites on just the brunch alone, I would probably give it 3 stars. The brunch here consists of a buffet that has a variety of items on it. I personally ended up getting a meat lovers egg white omelet, some yogurt with toppings, a mini sized jelly filled doughnut and then some bacon and sausage. Out of the bunch I think that I found the omelet to be the most flavorful although it was dripping with grease or butter. I also really enjoyed putting some nuts and dried fruit into the plain yogurt that they had. For a drink I went with some coffee which was refilled a couple of times while we ate. What struck me as odd is that each of the 7 people at our table had to separately ask for some water before it was brought over by our waitress. Normally it is on the table or whenever people start asking by 2's for water, then water is brought out to the whole table. In any case I would probably still head back to Kites again to eat as the food ended up being decent. So the nightime "dance club" is what really brings the score of this place down for me as I would give that portion a single star. The first night that we were there was a Friday night and there were about 50 or so people there and a single bartender. While he was able to keep up, service was a bit slow and I thought the drinks were overpriced. It wasn't too horrible of an experience though and nothing that would keep me going again. That second night, a Saturday was different though as I would guess that there was upwards of 200 people at the bar and only 2 bartenders. Due to this I didn't even try to get a drink and only hung out with some other people. It amused me to watch people walk up the stairs only to see how crowded the place was and walk right back down. What I did think was great about Kites is that the bartenders were successfully able to identify a drunk guy, signal to security and get that guy out of the club. Props to them for that. However, leaving said drunk guy in the lobby of a resort to wander around and eventually pass out was probably not the best place for him. The bottom line for me is that I probably wouldn't head back to Kites in the future. I will be the first person to admit that dance clubs really aren't my scene but my problem here had more to do with the prices of the drinks and the lack of people to serve them. read more

Went to this restaurant once before for lunch, and it was fantastic. Came back to it 2 days ago and it was not just below par, It was horrible. Food was bad. 2 out of 10 Bread and butter were ok. Bread was hot, but the butter was too sweet. It was like candy. I want bread and butter, not candy. Caprese had fresh mozzarella that literally oozed out from the middle. Too milky, too runny, disgusting. My girlfriend and I had the steak specials. She had the NY Strip with some chocolate sauce. Chocolate sauce was good! Steak was horrific. Under cooked, tough, and $38. Mashed potatoes were overcooked and had way too much butter. Vegetables were undercooked and bland. My steak special was surf and turf. Better steak on my end, but the crab stuff shrimp was dry overcooked and basically sucked. The bill was just under $105 and wasn't worth any penny given. I'd never step foot in that restaurant again for food. Kites gave us a free dessert! How thoughtful! No. It was actually terrible. The berry tart was a generic pie, with berries that were never thought to be fully thawed out. So, all in all it all was terrible. Don't go here. 1 out of 10. read more

This is my favorite restaurant. I have eaten lunch here a few times a month (sometimes everyday in summer) since Mar 2017. The kale and quinoa salad and french onion soup are to die for. Simply delicious plus they give you huge portions of the salad. My friends from NYC area have just raved about the ambience and these dishes when we've gone there. I've tried the deserts but blah. Service unacceptable! By the time my salmon got to the table all of my family had already finished their food! Then my son decided to get a coors lite beer and they brought him a cider! I don't know who is screwing up, but the communication between everyone working here is horrible based on what happened tonight. Now I understand we have some young waitresses here trying to just make a bit of cash, but if this place wants to attract people, the communication between everyone working here needs to be solid. Dined here last night for my fiancé's birthday with a couple friends. We walked up, the place was nearly empty but when we asked for a table for six we were met with "did you have a reservation" which rubbed me alittle weird since the place was basically empty. We got sat then moved which was okay. Our friends arrived, our waitress Ariana was very nice, maybe overly nice...? We ordered drinks, then food. Our food arrived which was OK at best. The food is extremely over priced for not great quality, portions are tiny as well. Our friends ordered dessert, the lava cake. Our waitress asked "can I add ice cream to that for you guys" of course they said yes. When we got the check the ice cream was an extra charge; they were under the impression when she asked that, it came with the ice cream. Overall, i definitely would not come here. Not for drinks, not for food, not for dessert. This place really needs to work on how their waitresses suggest things. Kites does not deserve one star. The penne vodka was barely seasoned. I ordered the Pine Island Onion Soup and there were about 1.5 inch "sticks" in the soup and got stuck in my throat. The kale and quinoa salad was good but who can mess up salad? They are also very over priced for terrible food. I would not recommend eating here. I have been to the this resort many times. During this pandemic I took my two daughters last year to get away for a couple of days. We stayed for two days and did a dinner at Kites and also room service later for dessert just to feel human. Unfortunately, after being stuck in the house for a year and trying to have a little stay-cation and a nice meal outside the home proved to be terrible. My two daughters and I all got steaks and drinks. I ordered my steak rare and I received it beyond well done besides the spinach being colder than room temperature. The service was so bad that I couldn't even return my meal because I never saw my waiter again until after my daughter's both finished their meals. I have been very patient with short staffed businesses but we literally were the only table in the restaurant. I would love to say I would come visit Kite's and Mineral Springs again as we do not live that far but I was sincerely not impressed with our short but unsweet trip to Mineral Springs. read more

Do not eat here if you are gluten free! We called before we came to make sure they could provide a gluten free meal. They said yes, and they had gluten free pasta. We get there, are seated and the waitress tells us everything that is gluten free is noted on the menu. The menu has about 2 things that are gluten free, one is shrimp cocktail appetizer and the other a salad. I asked what entree's are gluten free and she asked the cook. Comes back and says none of the entree's are gluten free. Why offer anything gluten free if you cannot provide a full meal?? We had to get up and leave the restaurant. How embarrassing! If you're looking for a romantic evening in this restaurant, STAY AWAY from the food. CONs: My friends and I decided to order number of small plates and a dish to share with drinks. We ordered quesadillas, hot wings, crab cake, fried calamari, and Linguine a la Vongole. We didn't love ANY of the food. All the small plates were mediocre. Though, we probably would have been able to get the same quality food with tenth the prices from the freezers at Waldbaum. They would actually taste better, too, even when not yet defrosted. The reason why I am writing this review is Linguine a la Vongole. I am still having a hard time understanding how it is possible to cook that horribly. Two reasonable explanations would be if they kept the clams in their pockets for days then the chef had a horrible sinus congestion so couldn't smell the spoiled clams OR, the chef just hated our table for some reason. It was not the worst Linguine a la Vongole, it was the worst food I've ever had and hopefully will have. Please do not order this food, unless .... NEVER. Let's not forget about their services. Since we were only there for a few drinks, we stayed for about 50min. Excluding the time we waited for our food and the check and etc, we had food in front of us for about 20~25 min. In that 25 min, we were asked "Are you done with any of your plates & Can I take anything away?" 4 times by the same person. No, none of the plates was empty (as you would have guessed) and we were obviously still nibbling on them while drinking. We figured they didn't have enough plates in the kitchen?? Of course, she didn't take used napkins, plates, or emptied glasses away. I feel stupid for waiting for someone to ask us how come the linguini was barely touched. I am giving "one star" because I don't know how to give NEGATIVE five billion stars. I've never written a negative review for ANYTHING in my life only because I don't want my one experience to affect anyone's business. However, this restaurant made me realize it is my duty to share with as many people as possible that this restaurant has a (quote and unquote) chef who hates cooking, his/her restaurant and his customers/preyers. Apparently I am staying here at the same time as Chanda H. We were turned away last night because we didn't have a reservation even though the restaurant was half full!!!!! It does not say reservation required on the website. We too had to go off property to eat. $18.95 for the breakfast buffet was ridiculous. I've had better free buffets in hotels that offered such. Chanda mentioned wait staff....we never saw any!!! We had to chase down silverware, chase down coffee, creamer and sugar. I truly cannot believe I paid so much for this! This has to be one of the worst reviews I have ever written. Kites Restaurant is poorly managed, wait staff seem to know as much as the patrons, food was ice cold and extremely over priced. A buffet for $18.95 does not sound too bad but when the eggs, pancake, sausage, bacon, potatoes are ice cold, it's too much to ask for. My son put half and half in his cereal because milk was no where to be found, kind of like the wait staff. This was the worst experience I have ever had at a resort. Last night we had to leave the resort to get dinner because this place was overbooked. I will never be returning to this restaurant or resort. read more

We went here for my husband's birthday and were extremely disappointed and our expectations weren't that high to begin with. The menu tries to sound upscale but the dishes do not deliver AT ALL. We both started with the Lobster Bisque which was "eh" at best. My husband had the paella which didn't smell pleasant and the flavor was as equally unexciting. Definitively not worth the $30... Not even worth half that cost. I had the crab cake as my entree. Not worth it at all. I've had better frozen crab cakes. My husbands beer was sour. God knows how long it was sitting in the keg or the last time the lines were cleaned. My martini was gross and totally overpriced. Will definitely not be making a repeat visit. Let's start with how I read the reviews for the restaurant before going there, but tried to give it the benefit of the doubt as we were staying at the Minerals Hotel. Anyways, we headed up around 7:15 thinking we'll be stuck in the middle of dinner rush and were pleasantly surprised to find there were only 3 other tables sat and the place was basically empty. After being greeting by the host and sat, we waiting for about 10-12 minutes for our server to appear. In the mood for a sandwich, I ordered a BLT and hubby got the grilled salmon over mashed potatoes meal. We also ordered the macaroni and cheese appetizer and asked for it all to be brought with the meal, as well as a shrimp Caesar salad to go. IT WAS ALL DOWNHILL FROM THERE. First, we waited another 10 minutes for our drinks. It then took 45, yes FORTY FIVE, minutes for our food to arrive. I know this cause my husband had planned for us to go outside and watch the sunset after dinner, but we wound up watching it from our table cause dinner took so long to come out. Anyways, once it finally came I was shocked to find that the "BLT" was actually a salad not a sandwich. Ok, maybe that was my fault for not noticing it was under the "salads" section as opposed to "sandwiches"(which was conveniently right below it), but let me tell you that this salad consisted of one big leaf, 2pieces of big yellow and 4 small green tomatoes--2 of which were clearly not yet ripe. To top it off, there were five tiny pieces of bacon bits, not authentic bacon broken up, but store bought straight from the can BACON BIT pieces, each the size of a bead on top. How this is a BLT salad, I don't know but what a disgrace! In addition, I realize it's a resort, but for $26 they could have at least not over cooked my husband's salmon and mashed potatoes, and let's not even talk about the size of the piece of fish they gave him. The only redeeming quality was the Mac and cheese, which I wound up eating as my meal since the salad was such a joke. Back to the service, I watched other tables have the same problems, or go for long periods without assistance, and at one point, the woman at the table next to us got up to go behind the service station to get straws and napkins she had waited over ten minutes for! Once the waitress came back we asked for our bill and the Caesar salad we had ordered to go. Of course she either forgot to put it in and didn't tell us, or a member of the kitchen staff physically went out to buy all the ingredients and made it from scratch, cause that was another 25 minute wait. In the end, what was supposed to be a 30 minute dinner wound up being a $75 mistake that took close to two hours, and left us completely unfulfilled. In short, trust the reviews and don't eat here! For the rest of our trip, we hit up local spots like Celina's and Tony's, both of which were cheaper and with way better quality food AND service. read more

Recently ate at this restaurant again while we waiting for the DJ and dancing to begin. The waiter was polite and friendly. He took our drink orders and quickly returned with our drinks. My wife had the salmon and said it was cooked just right. She had a side of French fires along with stream beans that were tasty and crunchy. I had the kale and quinoa salad. The waiter said it was a large salad, but the only thing that was large was the plate. The amount of salad could have fit in the palm of my hand. The salad was very good though. I would get it Agin and maybe double it. I also had a side of fried calamari with pesto aioli and red sauce for dipping. The calamari was tender, but some of it was fishy. The red sauce was good, but the pesto aioli needed more flavor. All in all the restaurant has improved or maybe we just went there on a night when the stars were aligned. Came here for lunch after we got settled into our room at the resort. We walked up the stairs and sat at the bar. I thought the food was fantastic. I had a pulled pork and ham sandwich on Challah bread with sweet potato fries and my girlfriend enjoyed her grilled chicken salad. Really poor service and not sure why. i would guess because it might be a seasonal place they have to hire young kids that have little to no experience serving. My table was sat down and we waited....... finally after almost 15 minutes I got up to let the hostess that sat us know that no one has approached are table yet. she asked me if I was seating outside and I said no. I am seating at the table right there where you sat me almost 15 minutes ago. "she looks confused after i told her" menu looked inspired and somewhat nice. food was mediocre at best. my hanger steak for $28 was ok. my wife sent back her salad because the grilled shrimp she ordered on top of it smelled which i confirmed after smelling it. they did buy us a round of drinks because of the poor service, that's the only reason I gave them 2 stars instead of one. my recommendation to the restaurant would be to get in a general manager that knows the business, or dumb down the menu if you can only get young inexperienced workers in that area. read more
