Me and my wife ate here on a Saturday night. The appetizers; potato wedges with honey dijon mustard and bean curd eggplant spread. The potato wedges came in a mason jar, 4 small wedges over ton of lettuce in mason jar, tasted exactly like KFC wedges. The eggplant spread was so-so, again it was over lettuce in a small dipping cup. To minimize the amount of food they give you, it appears they like dress it up with lettuce. The main course was a salad entree and pizza entree. The salad was decent but was done in about 6 bites as an entree!!! The personal pizza was 6 small slivers for 14 dollars. Pizza was okay but we left the restaurant starving. I hit vending machine on way back to my room. The service was okay but the waitress seemed annoyed when we commented on the extremely small serving sizes and the fact we were still hungry. I am sure she gets this complaint a lot considering this seems to be an everyday practice. Not sure why there are so many low reviews. We almost ate elsewhere, but decided the risk it and held our reservations. The hostesses were very sweet when seating us, and our server, Zack, was incredibly attentive and nice. When our sautéed spinach was a bit undercooked, he was quick to fix the problem and apologized profusely. The food was flavorful and well cooked, but not the most incredible meal of my life. If I am back at the Minerals Hotel, I will happily eat here again. read more

Ate here for lunch yesterday for the first time and this place needs a management makeover. I work in a restaurant as well and if these things happened, It would not fly. First we were waiting in line with no hostess or anyone telling us whats going on. It's not like the place was full, there was lots of empty tables all around. After waiting 15 minutes we finally got seated. I ordered an alcoholic drink and didn't get ID'd (I am of drinking age) and then my friend who is UNDERAGE ordered one and still no ID. She clearly looked young but wasn't even a thought or worry to waitress. I am not saying I'm okay with underage drinking but we really thought the girl would ID her. They could get in big trouble for serving minors!! It must of taken at least 30 minutes or so to get an appetizer, I was waiting so long I had another drink which came fast. That's about the only positive I can say about this place. I only gave it two stars because the food actually wasn't bad but shouldn't take an hour to get and lunch shouldn't take 2 hours. I don't know who manages kitchen or whatever but new regulations need to put in place so things run at a faster pace. If your visiting and have the patience eat here but if not, go somewhere else. read more

Thought I'd disregard the reviews and take a chance, but this was the worst service I've ever had; first off our server Jessie or Jessica ( who seemed incoherent as if on drugs) incorrectly took our order. Which then took 45 minutes to arrive and when I attempted to explain she had taken down my order incorrectly she insisted she hadn't and that I was lying, as she slurred her words walking back to the kitchen. Food was cold. Service was slow. Advertised that they are open till 10 pm , we ordered dinner at 9 pm, but the food looked like the bus boy was covering for the cook. Appetizer with sausage over sauerkraut consisted of nearly frozen sauerkraut and minuscule piece of sausage for $13. Worst service of my life! My boyfriend and I stayed at the Minerals Hotel for a weekend getaway July 4th weekend. Not only did we not even get APPROACHED until we were waiting for over 20 minutes, but we did not even get food until we had been sitting for an hour. All we ordered were eggs. I could have made it faster myself in 10. Our waitress seemed forgetful, nonchalant, and rude. We are younger (23), but we tip well and we expect good service. We saw the waitress later on by the outside pool getting drinks and laughed because those people probably waited even longer than us. For the amount I paid for this hotel, I expect at least good service on premise. I ignored the horrible reviews, and that is what I got. Be forewarned. read more

We ate at Kites restaurant because my family and our friend's family was hungry after driving for almost 5 hours. Worst dining experience. To start of, the glasses on our table looked cloudy. We requested new set of drinking glasses from our server. She brought new set of glasses, but they were still kind of cloudy. We guess they must have them this way. Our server proceeded to serve us water. To my friend's horror, she noticed things floating around on her water. No way she was going to drink from that and ask for a new glass. We noticed our silverware had soapy residue...as if their dishwasher does completely gets rid of the soap. Our food was average. We ordered calamari to start things off. It wasn't bad. I ordered the veggie panini. It was a bit on the greasy side, but I ate it as I was very hungry. My kids ordered the the Caesar salad and chicken and rice soup. My wife ordered grilled chicken. They are okay. Our bill for four people was almost $100, but we did not feel the food we ate was worth that price. We will not recommend this place. Expensive price, average food. read more

I read most of the reviews and went anyway, we had recently checked in and didn't want to go driving around to find something to eat. We looked over the menu first and it seemed to have a good variety for us (my wife, two sons and myself) The server came over introduced himself and we asked if there were any specials, he said they don't usually have specials on Thursday, unfortunately it was Tuesday. We ordered pasta and vegetables for the kids and a couple of drinks for ourselves, then said we'd need a few more minutes to decide on our entrees. We ordered a salumi and cheese plate, which ended up being the better part of our meal, a chicken Caesar and the NY Strip medium rare. The kids pasta seemed ok but the vegetables were definitely out of a bag in the freezer. The chicken was pretty dry on the Caesar and the steak was way over medium rare. I spoke to the waiter about the steak and they brought out a new one in a fairly short period of time. As we were getting ready to leave I watched another server hand over menus and the daily specials menu. I asked the hostess why we hadn't gotten the specials menu and she said it was something new and our server didn't know. Buyer beware, we won't be back ever. read more

Again She did not come back to the table once to check on us... Major disappointment! There is not one redeeming quality about this restaurant. Limited menu, mediocre food, terrible service AND high prices. I wouldn't have minded the price if ANYTHING justified it. Shrimp & grits w/ 5 small shrinp - $26. Inedible bison meatloaf - $23. My friend's sirloin was nicely done but the potatoes were unseasoned. All 3 types of martinis we ordered were done incorrectly & w/ very little alcohol (which defeats the purpose of a.$12 martini!) I've never complained about a restaurant before, but I hope this saves someone else from planning a nice dinner here. Where to start.... So we figured we order a bunch of apps rather than dinner. What a mistake to order anything there! Everything we had was from the freezer. The "fried" calamari had to be heated in a microwave. It was greasy and soggy and disgusting. The "rock" shrimp was soggy as well and came out with cocktail sauce... Really.... The chicken satay was burnt, dry and raw. How the heck anyone can pull that off is beyond me. The fried pickles.... Let's just say hooters fried pickles blow these away! And believe me I was hoping for a hooters at this point. If you go here order the wine, you can't f that up. Had dinner with my wife here last night, and it was NOT good. We split calamari for an app. We could barely taste the actually calamari, just the fried batter. Half the plate was just fried batter crumbs! Next, was the onion soup. I'm not exactly sure why it wasn't good, but it just wasn't. Also, it was barely warm, yet came out shortly after we ordered. So I'm assuming it had been made already and kept under heat lamps. My main course was the $29 short ribs. Worst short ribs I've ever had! Completely lacking flavor. Not tender enough, had to cut it up w a knife. Short ribs should fall apart. Also, it was swimming in what looked just like the onion soup! I mean swimming in it, why, lmao?! The wife ordered the roasted salmon. While it was actually good, it was pan fried, not roasted. Only ate here because we were staying in the resort. Will definitely not be eating here for breakfast. I am only rating for the service because it was so BAD that our group had to walk out before they even cared to seat us. We were waiting to be seated. For a while, no one came to greet us or even acknowledged that we were there. A few waitresses walked by and gave us a look. No help from them. By the way, there weren't even busy ( only four tables of customers). Another family came and stood behind us and also waiting to be seated. Finally a woman in a black dress came. We told her a party of six. She looked puzzled as if she didn't know how to seat us. She went to the computer and then chatted with someone. She totally forgot about seating us. An waitress came and we told her a part of six and we told her the woman in black dress was helping us ( at least I thought). She then took the family behind us to a table first. The woman in black dress then turned to the waitress and said " they are six and can u seat them". The waitress then looked at the woman in black dress as if saying " you were helping them , why are u asking me to do it .' Instead of trying to seat us , the waitress went to get water and served that family after us. The woman in black dress went to make a cocktail. I then asked the woman in black dress if she is going to seat us. She then gave me an attitude as if I am being unreasonable. She defended herself and saying the restaurant didn't have a host and that I had to wait!! Meanwhile the restaurant is half empty. I have never seen or been treated like this as a customer. This restaurant is in a resort!!!!! How can the management tolerate this kind of services and manner by their staff!??? Please do yourself a favor, go to other restaurants down the road with much better services!!! read more

Staying at the resort. Ate at the restaurant twice for dinner. First night had the veggie quesadillas. They were OK. Service was awful and food came out slow. Had to ask 5 times for bread, when our same waiter refilled the bread basket at the table next to us twice before we got our bread. Day 2 ordered the vegetarian crown, which was dry aurgula, roasted figs and chick peas, and some weird bread and fried rice cake. The figs and chick peas were very dry, and with the rice cake, and the arugula with no dressing, it was too dry to eat. When I could get the waiters attention, I asked for oil and vinegar, which made it almost tasty. My husband ordered the ceasar salad with shrimp - it came with chicken. My daughter ordered the kids past with sauce on the side - it came on it. My husbands Ceasar salad was basically store bought ceasar dressing with store bought croutons, and it looked liked steamed shrimp on top. Parts of the lettuce were brown. Overall, not pleasant, and highly overpriced for what you get. read more

Horrible and over priced. My husband and I love to eat out and had our share of experiences, but nothing compared to this restaurant. At first we were impressed with the location since there are not many places to choose from in Vernon. So it's located in a resort on the second floor. We were greeted and sat and we asked for recommendations and the waitress was not to knowledgeable with the menu. We ordered appetizers and enjoyed the wings and a dish with avocado. The calamari was ok and so was the cheese board. Then our main course comes out and the waitress failed to clear the table. There were 5 dishes of appetizers plus our side dishes. She tried squeezing in the main course dishes until I told her she needed to clear the table. By the time we had our dinner, it was cold! There goes another 5 dishes that went to waste. When the waitress asked how the food was we were honest and let her know how disappointed we were and she stated her manager was not there and she continued to state "well dominos is open till late." $300.00 later 5 and 5 unhappy guests! Terrible experience. The restaurant was empty and it took 40 minutes from when we were finished with our apps until dinner came to the table. The waitress was very apologetic and kept saying it will be right out. It was only my wife and I. I ordered the "margherita pizza" and it was a small serving of mozzarella cheese slices on top of bread with a couple cherry tomatoes on top. It was terrible. Nothing that resembled pizza of any kind. My wife ordered the salmon and the sides were ice cold. The waitress came over and saw our faces and asked us if it was really bad. She knew right away. She even said that people complain a lot about the food and she's sorry. The worst part is the manager came over and tried to make excuses. She said the 40 min wait time is normal. I looked around and said the restaurant is empty and she blamed it on the room service. She said that the kitchen is busy cooking room service which is ridiculous. Then she said that she personally loves the pizza. ITS NOT PIZZA. Look at the reviews to this place. They are really bad. I wish we did before we went. read more

When I first walked into the restaurant I approached the what I thought was the hostess and said I had a reservation. I was given the most dirtiest look ever. After a few minutes of standing in limbo while the staff was discussing where to seat us in an empty restaurant we finally were brought over to a table, which had to be the worst table in the restaurant. Now that we were seated you would have figured a waitress would've approached us and introduced herself and asked us if we wanted something to drink, well no. We waited approximately 25 minutes or so until finally the hostess or should I say the manager approached us and asked if we wanted anything to drink and if we had our order ready. She told us the first round of drinks were on her since we had to wait so long in the least sincere way. Finally our drinks had arrived minus one of the drinks that I had ordered and shortly after that our salads came to the table. After salads approximately 15 minutes later the food arrived which was mediocre at best. No time during the meal did anyone approach us and ask how the meal was or if we needed anything additional. Once our meal was finished we ordered coffee and dessert which again was not that great. Upon leaving the restaurant the manager and the waitstaff were near the exit and made a point not to say goodbye or thank you. I would not recommend this place to anyone by any means. We would have done better at the local pizzeria or even hell. Stay away!!!! read more
