We went in for a beer and a bite. He ended up with some kind of Pilsner, and I got a Guinness, and we split a bowl of potato soup. The soup was delish. Creamy and lightly seasoned. Potatoes were plentiful but not too thickly diced. And it was served with some kind of raisin soda bread that was surprisingly delicious. Our recent visit to Kitty O'Sheas was unfortunately one of the most disappointing dining experiences we've had. We came in as a group of seven at 9:43 PM, and right from the start, we were met with attitude and indifference from our server, Dana. It took an unreasonably long time just to get water, and any drink refills were painfully slow throughout the evening. The service felt dismissive and inattentive, as if our presence was more of an inconvenience than anything else. Our food took forever to arrive, and by the time we finally received our check, it was 11:20 PM -- nearly two hours for a standard meal with drinks, and not because we were lingering. We were just constantly waiting. We understand busy nights happen, but the lack of basic courtesy, poor communication, and overall lackluster service really soured the experience. Hopefully, management takes this feedback seriously and addresses the service standards, because we had expected much better. Mind you our family has done 4 times prior to this experience. read more

We stayed at the Hilton on Michigan Ave. and had a fantastic time having drinks at Kitty's, which is conveniently connected to the hotel. It has a fun, classic pub atmosphere and they have an impressive selection of Irish whiskeys to try. For dinner, I ordered the fish & chips and my boyfriend got the burger. Both were good pub fare, though let's be honest, everything seems to taste better after a little Irish whiskey! We also learned a fun fact from a friendly couple: this bar was actually featured in the Harrison Ford movie "The Fugitive"! We enjoyed it so much that we will be returning today to catch some Sunday football and, of course, enjoy another tall pint of Guinness! Highly recommend this spot if you're in the area. read more

Well, don't waste your time or money if the usual breakfast buffet at the Downtown Chicago Hilton is not operating and instead they are serving "ala carte breakfast" at Kitty O'Sheas. Walked in and there were probably 15 or more empty dirty tables, and one clean one which is where I sat. Ordered the omelette, with hash browns and sourdough toast. The single waitress seemed to be doing a halfway decent job, but was clearly overworked. The omelette was meh, the hash browns were mass-produced squares that you would find in a grocery store freezer section to feed to your seven year-old kid, who might not even eat it, and the toast never arrived. The "ambiance" is horrible as rude people FaceTime and talk on their phones via speakers. Ive been here for dinner and drinks multiple times, and it's fine for that. Never again will I do breakfast here. And the bill? $27. Ridiculous. As an added bonus I paid cash. I guess the waitress assumed I wanted no change back because she never brought any. Wow. read more

Love the historic Irish pub that was installed here during the 80's renovation. Had the house burger which came on a huge bun. Too much bread. Had to cut it down to a manageable size. Fries were good. Came with French onions and a sweet pickle, add mayo and it was perfect. The cheese plate was good. We couldn't eat it all. Came here for brunch this past weekend. The food was de-lic-ious! We split the churro eclairs to start. Not sure I got 'churro' from them, now that I think about it, but they were very good. They're small, so easy to share, and they are filled. The dipping sauces are also good. I got the Croque O'Sheas for my main course. Wow, that was maybe one of the best things I've ever eaten. It's a loooooot of food, so good thing I was hungry. One minor issue is that at times it was a little hard to cut through the bread, but I was able to do it. I also got a side of crispy hashbrowns, which are McDonald's style and I loved that. It's seat yourself, and when we were there there were plenty of seats. However, beware the late morning sun, as it rendered some of the booths near the window unusable because it was way too warm (and someone would get blinded). We started in one booth and quickly realized this, and were able to move to another booth no problem. Service was a little on the slow side (there were only two people working the whole place), but we weren't in a hurry so it wasn't really an issue for us. Wish I could've taken in to my room...in a pitcher. Burger was ok. At this point I was starving. Bread was extremely too thick. The one slice of cheese that put on the burger came off on the top of the container. Liked the fries! The fries had a spiral shape...if they cut them slightly a little thinner than fried them would've been perfection. But still had a great crunch to them. read more

I love Kitty O'Sheas! I've been here many times over the years and it never disappoints. It's located on Michigan Ave just south of Balbo, which makes it a perfect place to stop if you are visiting: Grant Park, or the museum campus, or Soldier Field, etc.... I've pregamed and post-gamed here; and it definitely gets crowded (and loud) for Bears games, but in a good way. This past weekend I stopped-in with a buddy before heading to Grant Park to soak in the Nascar festivities. We had some delicious wings and a couple of beers. They always have a great beer selection. We came here for a nightcap, as our hotel bar was already closed. This place is inside the Hilton. Irish bar. The cocktail menu didn't have much on it. We ordered off menu. My husband went with a whiskey sour and I did an espresso martini. She asks which liquors, as Tullamore Dew was advertised everywhere and it was an Irish bar we went with that for his whiskey sour. I went with Titos for my martini as a Texas native. She made the drinks pretty quick. My husband was disappointed his drink didn't have egg white on it, and mine was served in a stemless martini glass - which just didn't look right. We closed out after the round, and whiskey sour was about $9, but she had charged $19 for my martini, damn! didn't realise Titos was such a premium vodka. My husband wanted to have an espresso martini after mine, glad we didn't after knowing the price! read more

We were tired from traveling all day, so opted for dinner close to our hotel. It turns out this restaurant was in our hotel lobby. I was the only one in our group that didn't opt for the corned beef sandwich. At $28 a sandwich, one would expect it to be the best sandwich they've ever eaten. I could look at their sandwiches and see the meat hanging out looked like jerky. The guys were hungry, so they powered through. My co-worker ate half of the bread, but couldn't chew the meat. She asked if we would be embarrassed if she complained. She brought the situation up to the waitress who said she would tell the chef. This isn't an acceptable solution to $78 in horrible sandwiches. So, a manager was requested. The manager couldn't be bothered, so he told her to remove the sandwich from their total.
