Kiyo's new location is a great addition to the area! The fish was very fresh, with generous, thick slices and cuts. Everything was prepared with care, and they offer a good variety of options. If I were in the area, I would definitely come here again. For parking, go straight to the lot, it's the easiest option so u dont have to circle the smal lot!

I was meeting some family and friends for a little birthday dinner in OC and we discovered a restaurant with 4.9 on Yelp, so that was the choice! It's a little confusing because there is another restaurant with the same name but a different location. This one is Kiyo on DuPont St. it's new. It's clean. The staff were patient with a group. The service was good. All of the food was delicious. I was the only vegan. Everyone else was happy with sushi, sashimi, salads and bowls. I got the clearly marked vegan options- mushroom miso soup, seaweed salad and veggie roll. I really enjoyed all of it. Super fresh and a good variety of ingredients. We all agreed we would definitely go back.

    Lunch special: chirashi don

Food: everything was in good portion, tastes great. I liked the thick cut sashimi on the chirashi don. The beef teriyaki and the grilled beef tongue were just perfect in saltiness and tenderness. Service: great service. Waitress was so attentive to what we need. She even let us know that restaurant was running a promo with free ($15 or under) appetizer when order is over $30. She recommended the beef tongue and her recommendation did not go wrong! Ambiance is nice and quiet. Definitely recommend this place

Wow, this is a great place for lunch! Came in today at noon and got the last booth! They have great lunch specials. We ended up getting the Sashimi set and Chirashi Don and were very impressed. The sashimi set had huge/thick slices of high quality fish! The scallop had yuzu sauce that had the perfect amount of zip. The Chirashi Don had nearly the same amount of fish (just slightly thinner) + great tasting salmon eggs but served on a bed of nicely done rice. A steal at around $35 each. Lunch specials are running every day including weekends (for now). Hope to be back!

Details.. .. Lunch w. the hubs on a Saturday. .. We've been going to the original Kiyo location since they opened & were excited to try this new location. .. We ordered 2 chirashi lunch specials (not sure if they'll leave their lunch deal for the weekend permanently or if it's just a soft/grand opening deal), a spicy tuna cut roll, a salmon skin cut roll, an order of the sunomono w. tako, & an order of the shishito peppers. prOs.. .. Same great service. Same great quality. LOVE. .. Restaurant & restrooms were clean. .. The chirashi, shishito peppers, & salmon skin cut roll were fantastic. .. Seems to be a smidge more spacious than the original location, so potentially better for big parties. cOns.. .. The sunomono was a bit bland & the tako was a bit tough. .. The spicy tuna cut roll was an interesting shade of pink & was very loosely rolled. Could've been better executed. additiOnal thOughts.. .. I believe they're still in soft opening phase so I'm allocating some of our cons to that. Nothing was egregious enough to prevent us from wanting to come back again soon.

My first time dining here at this new location. This is their second in Irvine and they have another restaurant in Arcadia. The decor is modern, spacious and comfy. I arrived on a weekday, and it was just after the lunch hour so the lunch crowd was clearing out. I was seated by a female who was seating patrons and waiting on customers. She suggested the premium chirashi don which included miso soup, hot tea and was plated on a bed of sushi rice. The entree also included crab, uni and sweet shimp along with the premium sashimi. The quality and taste was outstanding and the entree was filling. I tried to order dessert but they were unfortunately out of product. I would recommend this new location and would certainly return here in the future,

This place was amazing! Everything we tried was incredibly fresh, and you can really tell they care about the quality of the fish. They have some really interesting cuts and belly options that I haven't seen at many other sushi restaurants. We ordered a bunch of nigiri so we could sample different types of fish, and every single one was delicious. You can tell the chef really takes their time with each piece and puts thought into the pairings and flavors. We also got to chat with the manager, Tran, and she was so kind, and welcoming. The service was attentive, and she gave us some great recommendations when we were stumped on what to order. There's also a great variety on the menu beyond sushi, including hot soups, cooked fish, and plenty of other options. They have an iPad menu with photos of the different dishes, which was super helpful when deciding what to try. We genuinely loved this place and will definitely be coming back. Fresh fish, interesting options, thoughtful preparation, and just wonderful service!

Came here at dinnertime on Friday night just to try it out. The restaurant is fairly small with just a short wait for a table. They are a relatively new location so you can tell they are still working out some things but it's understandable. There was one server for the entire restaurant and she was a trooper. You could tell she was busy but she remained calm and kind throughout our whole meal. I hope the business owners make sure to do a better job of supporting their staff on weekends! No server should have to be alone for the entire shift in my opinion. We ordered the garlic edamame, sashimi set B, and the Kirin roll. The first two dishes came out at a decent time but I could tell the rolls were taking especially long and our roll didn't come out until we were almost done with the rest of our meal. Regardless, the food was AMAZING. The garlic edamame was hot, spicy, and flavorful. The Kirin roll had soft shell crab on the inside with avocado and eel on the outside and it was delicious. Such great value for the amount of fried crab. The absolute star of the show was our sashimi set. We ordered set B for the variety and the fact that there was 2 of each fish. It came with toro, bluefin tuna, salmon belly, yellowtail belly, sweet shrimp sashimi with the fried heads, kanpachi, two types of scallop, and even fresh crab meat. Everything was extremely fresh and delicious with a clean taste. My favorite was the salmon and yellowtail belly. They were so fatty and unique. We were surprised at how thick each piece was cut - meaning you really get a bang for your buck. We enjoyed every bite and will definitely be back.

This was our second visit to Kiyo, and it was just as good as the first. It's hard to find a sushi restaurant that's this consistent. The fish was incredibly fresh, especially the toro uni caviar was heaven - every dish was prepared with care, and everything tasted amazing. What keeps us coming back is not only the food but also the hospitality. The staff is always friendly, attentive, and makes you feel like a valued guest. Kiyo has become one of our favorite places for sushi in Irvine. Looking forward to our next visit already!

This is Kiyo's 2nd location in Irvine and they offer fresh sushi as well as bento boxes. I've been here several times now for lunch and have always been impressed with the quality. Japanese barley tea is complimentary and all lunch specials come with miso soup. Chirashi don - $22 - This came with so many fresh cuts of sashimi, including salmon, tuna, yellow tail, and more. It was served with tamago, wasabi, and pickled ginger all over a bed of sushi rice. I was really impressed with the quality as well as the quantity. Premium chirashi don - $35 - This is a step up from the regular chirashi don and includes all the same items plus ikura, scallops, a fried shrimp head and sea urchin. While it was good, I didn't feel the cost was justified. The regular chirashi don is a much better value. Lunch combo - $20 -This is served with mixed greens, sea weed salad, rice, a side and a main. For my main I went with grilled seabass which tasted great and and had a nice char on the outside and a mildly sweet taste. For my side I opted for the mixed sushi, all of which were fresh. Overall this is a great place to go get reasonably priced sushi as well as lunch bento boxes. The quality of all the items tasted incredible and I'll definitely be back here to get my sushi fix.

Lunch specials are good deal and great quality! Came back 2 days after my first time here because I loved it. Been coming back, and will be coming back! The fish-to-rice ratio is chef's kiss, the cut id perfect and soft. All good quality!

This sushi restaurant is absolutely AMAZING! The restaurant is very clean and inviting, and the employees were friendly and welcoming. Our waitress, Tran, provided world-class service, was friendly and attentive, and went out of her way to ensure we had a positive dining experience, which we did. Thank you!!! The star of the evening was the sushi. Wow!!! It was delicious! My family and I ordered numerous rolls, garlic edamame, salmon carpaccio, and our beverages. We enjoyed our rolls tremendously and would highly recommend this restaurant if you're in the area. Free parking is available in both the ground level and underground parking lots.

Super impressed with this sushi spot! So impressed that I almost thought it was a fluke. I'm happy to report that it definitely was not. I came in at lunch with my mom so the lunch specials were available. I ordered a Salmon Don, which was delicious! The fish had almost a buttery texture, and there was no fishy smell at all. I'm a huge fan and would come back for that alone. We also ordered a Mixed Tempura, which included an array of veggies and 3 shrimp tempura. We also ordered the Deep Fried Soft Shell Crab and it was delicious! They were both great appetizers and perfect for sharing. The service here is also excellent and I appreciated the attention we were given - not too overwhelming but enough to feel taken care of! I'll definitely be back!!

Even though it was 6:15 on a Saturday night, we were able to be sat right away. As soon as we walked in, someone greeted us and showed us to our table. Our server immediately got us waters and asked if we wanted anything else to drink (wife and I both got some delicious beers that they had on tap). We had our little one in tow with us and they were so accommodating to him! As soon as we were ready, our server took our order. We got: Chowder "frots" (fries and tots mixed in with some New England clam chowder, bacon, onions, cheese, and other goodies) 10/10, would definitely order again. My wife got the lobster roll with a side of clam chowder. Loaded with lobster, but you do pay the price. Labeled as market price, this was almost $40. Delicious, but not worth it in our opinion. 6.5/10. Pan roast (house specialty which came with shredded crab, shrimp, clams, and muscles). This, topped with rice, was heavenly. Better than any pan roast I've had. Came out ripping hot as it should. My wife was envious of my dish. 10/10 From the kids menu we also ordered the chicken Alfredo. My kid loved it, but my wife and I both had a bite and wow, we would've ordered that for ourselves it was so good. 10/10. We can't wait to come back just for the food. On top of that, however, service was above and beyond. The servers and everyone in the restaurant were so accommodating to us and our child and made us feel so, so welcome. We would come back even if the food was bad, solely for the service we received. Vibes we great, decoration on the walls look like they hired an artist to paint it. They had two TV's behind the bar / prep area that was showing NBA and PGA which I'll never complain about. All around 10/10 experience.

I think the chef needs to taste their food and truly put in some effort into making these items…read morebetter. My bf and I frequent the AMC right next door, so today after a movie we decided to check this place out. We ordered to share: the lobster roll combo ($25) with the clam chowder fries ($6) and a small 8oz side of lobster bisque ($8). We ordered on a tablet but after we ordered the girl behind the counter offered us two free drinks while we waited and she was super friendly, so 5 stars for service. The vibe of the place is super unique and fun inside, they had little shrimp and lobster magnets and decor and they were playing SpongeBob on tv. Even their packaging was very well presented. Unfortunately I think they need to spend more time perfecting their food than just having a cute vibe. The first bite we took was the lobster bisque and we were both shocked at how lukewarm it was, I almost wanted to go back inside to ask if they could warm it up because it was appalling the temperature they served it. Then we squeezed the lemon on the lobster roll (which we ordered the spicy aioli with) and I was truly surprised at how bland it was. Definitely could have used more sauce but honestly if something is tasty on its own it shouldn't need to be drowned in sauce. I was so glad I was sharing this because no part of me wanted to eat that whole dry flavorless lobster roll. The star of the show for us both was the clam chowder fries, the fries were absolutely tasty and would 100% order these again. In effort to save our experience with the other 2 dishes, we tried dipping the roll into the bisque but we just weren't feeling it at all. The more of the bisque we had, we just tasted pure butter like Paula Deen was back there in the kitchen preparing it herself. It wasn't a delicious indulgent type of buttery taste, it was honestly just too much that we didn't even finish the bisque. We immediately felt gross and bloated and decided we needed a walk before driving home. We walked over to Target with heavy guts and energy depleting quickly. On the walk back toward our car, I had to run to the restroom because the food immediately hit me in the worst way possible. On our drive home our mouths felt so dry and we both just felt awful and my bf ran straight to the restroom right when we got home. Bummer when a place that could be great for a lot of moviegoers just fails so hard. The clam chowder fries were good but they're also $13 if you order them without the combo so I'm not sure how often we'll be ordering. I truly hope my review is taken into consideration and the recipes get retested and perfected.

We scheduled our lunch on the same day as the FIFA World Cup Bronze Medal match, making it an even more memorable afternoon. The restaurant has a modern Japanese atmosphere with several small private dining rooms, a large bar-style seating area, and an open sushi counter. Each private room is separated by traditional Japanese-style sliding panel walls, giving guests a comfortable sense of privacy. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly and quickly escorted to one of the center private rooms, which overlooked a beautiful shared display of bonsai trees. In my opinion, we were seated in the best private room in the restaurant. The peaceful setting and elegant décor made it feel like the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion. For our birthday lunch, we ordered the following dishes: Salmon Skin Salad - (Excellent) Crispy salmon skin served over a fresh salad with a light dressing. A refreshing way to start the meal with a nice contrast of textures. Tuna Pringles - (Great) Crispy potato chips topped with seasoned tuna. A fun and creative appetizer that combines crunchy and creamy in every bite. Seared Scallop - (Excellent) Beautifully seared scallops with a lightly caramelized exterior while remaining tender and buttery inside. Premium Chirashi - (Excellent) An assorted sashimi bowl featuring a generous selection of premium fresh seafood over sushi rice. Great variety and beautifully presented. A5 Wagyu Beef (GF) - (Excellent) Rich, buttery A5 Wagyu that literally melts in your mouth. A must-order for beef lovers. King Salmon Sushi (4 pcs) - (Excellent) Thick-cut king salmon with rich flavor and buttery texture. Fresh and satisfying. Hokkaido Scallop Sushi (4 pcs) - (Wonderful) Sweet, tender Hokkaido scallops with a delicate texture that practically melts in your mouth. Miso Soup (3 bowls) - (Excellent) Warm and comforting traditional miso soup served before the main courses. It wasn't an ordinary miso soup, I feel like the base of the soup has a strong seafood flavor which made it even more enjoyable. Hot Green Tea - (Good) A classic hot green tea that paired nicely with the sushi and sashimi throughout the meal. Amato Special Black Sesame Ice Cream (Black Sesame Ice Cream, Dry Persimmons with cream cheese, and Matcha cake- (Excellent) A rich and creamy black sesame ice cream with deep roasted sesame flavor perfect to finish off a sashimi meal. It also comes with Dry persimmons filled with cream cheese which is not too sweet and the two ingredients go so well together. I love the match mochi cake that can pair well with the black sesame ice cream. Birthday Matcha Cake - (Complimentary) A thoughtful birthday surprise from the restaurant that made the celebration even more memorable. It is topped with matcha ice cream with matcha mochi cake underneath. Overall, Izakaya Osen exceeded our expectations and delivered one of the best Japanese dining experiences we've had in Orange County. Every dish was beautifully presented and prepared with high-quality ingredients, from the incredibly fresh sashimi to the melt-in-your-mouth A5 Wagyu and Hokkaido Scallop Sushi. The unique appetizers, flavorful seafood-based miso soup, and outstanding desserts made the meal even more memorable. Combined with the elegant private dining room, peaceful atmosphere, and attentive service, it was the perfect place to celebrate my daughter's birthday. The complimentary birthday matcha cake was a thoughtful finishing touch that made the occasion feel even more special. We already have several more dishes on our list to try next time, and we'll definitely be returning. Izakaya Osen easily earns a well-deserved 5-star rating from us.
