I only sat inside at the bar once, to grab a quick drink, but every other time I've ordered takeout or pickup, the food has always been piping hot and absolutely delicious. I came here with a friend, and while the food and sushi were very good, unfortunately, the service at the bar was extremely disappointing. We sat at the bar for about two hours, and the bartender spent most of his time talking to his friends who were sitting at the bar rather than paying attention to other customers. When I asked for a specific cocktail, he simply told me they didn't have it and didn't offer any alternative or suggest something similar. The sushi was delicious and we had no complaints about the food at all, but the service really affected our overall experience. We felt ignored and unattended to for most of the time we were there. The carrot ginger soup was a nice appetizer, and the black rice used in some of the rolls was an interesting twist. one thing to be aware of...when your server asks what type of wasabi you'd like, the fresh and pickled wasabi both come with an additional charge. Unfortunately, our server never mentioned this. She assumed it was common knowledge, but we ended up being charged $9 for the fresh wasabi and $3 for the pickled wasabi without any warning. at one point, i asked if we could try both types, and she replied, "Of course," which made it seem like it wasn't an issue or an added cost. If we were paying for both, there wouldn't have been any reason to ask for permission in the first place. When we asked if she could let us know next time that wasabi was extra, she simply said that fresh wasabi is "always extra." That may be true, but it's something that should be communicated before ordering rather than assumed. while the ingredients were fresh, I didn't find the food or the experience memorable enough to justify the price. Lilly D our server was lousy she behaved like she was still in training, but said she had worked there for awhile. She kept getting my order so mixed up I had to repeat it 3 times she reached right over me to get the dirty plates, when she could have walked around me, it was only a 2 seat table. I asked what the bar HH vodka was, she said Absolut then came back and said it was Skye. When I was seated I asked if we could sit at one of the high top tables outside, she said they had a large party and needed them. The whole 90 mins. we were there, no one else came into the outside area we were sitting. When she asked after we had 2 dinner orders from their dinner menu (no HH items) and 3 drinks each, if she could bring the checks, she just she put them both right in front of me, then put the to go brown bags right on top of the bills. Really strange unprofessional server. The outside area was pretty empty yet at 6:00 pm, as we still had wine in our glasses with a 4:30 PM reservation, another server came over and told us they needed our table, and we'd basically have to leave. At the end of the night Brian brought out a surprise Melted Chocolate Cake with Ice cream and chocolate drizzle & whipped cream on the side, along with what tasted like two shots that tasted like melon? I'm not sure but they were a 5/5! There is a good amount of seating inside and outside. The mix they had playing through the restaurant was absolute fire and it isn't too loud either, you can still hold a conversation without having to raise your voice. My wife and I came to Ten Sushi in Irvine with another couple for a double date. We are all big sushi fans and wanted to try something new, and this spot looked like a great choice. The vibe is a little more on the fancy side but still really comfortable. We started with the Chili Garlic Edamame, Miso Soup, Cucumber Salad, and Gyoza. The Gyoza was crunchy and full of flavor with a good soy ponzu sauce. The Cucumber Salad had that nice vinegar and pickle taste, small portion but really refreshing. The Miso Soup had a lot of green onions, seaweed, and big chunks of tofu which was nice to see and added good flavor. My favorite appetizer was the Chili Garlic Edamame because it had the perfect mix of spice and garlic and was great for sharing. For rolls we ordered the Forbidden, Spicy Domo, Keoni, Ten Tation, Lion King, and the Seared Salmon Lime but we switched the salmon for tuna. Every roll had great flavor and texture. The Lion King was probably the table favorite with the rock shrimp on top and the sauce that came with it. My personal favorite was the Spicy Domo because of the crunch from the tempura flakes and the little tang from the sauce. The Ten Tation Roll was also really good with the crispy shrimp tempura and the sauce pairing nicely with the tuna and salmon. Our server Diane was super kind and attentive the whole night and made sure everything came out right, even accommodating our request to switch the fish. Overall, Ten Sushi was a great! Pricing is high for sure. The food was good, the service was awesome, and the atmosphere made it a really nice spot for a date night and some Halloween stuff too. . Located in a very beautiful business complex! There are fire pits nearby, and the restaurant itself is very beautiful! Food plating was also excellent- everything looked extremely aesthetic! We rented out the whole restaurant last Saturday for my husband's 50th birthday and we were very impressed! The restaurant is so beautiful inside, there was no need to add additional decorations. We worked with Casey, the private event manager, and he was on top of everything and very helpful, he even helped us arrange the photo booth and DJ. We opted for open bar and the Wok and Roll Dinner package which included 3 appetizers, a selection of 5 different sushi rolls, 2 entrees, a side and dessert. We tried many dishes and for the price point I expected more. Also a majority of their rolls have Spicy Tuna in them. I have nothing against Spicy Tuna, but they just kind of overuse it. Our server, an Asian girl with red hair, was overly pushy with upselling. I understand trying to increase sales, but the way she was doing it rubbed me the wrong way. Like when we ordered apps, she claimed that the most expensive app "paired well" with what we had ordered, which had no reasoning. Then when I ordered 4 dishes for our entrees, she turned to my friend and asked what they wanted like it wasnt obvious I just ordered for the table. Very concerning experience. Our sushi chef appeared visibly unwell while preparing our food. He was repeatedly sniffling, touching his face with his hands, and his eyes were noticeably red. I even asked the sushi chef working next to him if he was sick. He said she didn't think so, but wasn't sure. Regardless of the cause, having someone who appears ill and is repeatedly touching his face prepare raw food directly in front of customers is extremely unsettling and raises serious hygiene concerns. Management should not allow an employee who is visibly unwell to handle and prepare food until they are confident it is safe for both customers and staff.
