The restaurant is small and cozy with outdoor tables. We ordered a variety of nigiri and everything was fresh and delicious. The rice texture was perfect and our favorites were the otoro, salmon, scallop, and madai. We also tried the In N Out Salmon Roll and it was surprisingly really good. Not worth the wait, the sushi's and their hot dishes pretty fresh though. It's just that the wait was 90 mins on a Saturday night and there are places with similar prices points. Their nigiri are pretty cheap, toro was only $5.75 per piece but it was pretty thin and tasted kind of warm. Red snapper and yellow tail was decent but also warm. Beef teriyaki was the best thing. Takumi was awesome! Definitely a popular place as we had about a half hour wait but well worth it. The inside ambience is tiny but a super cool vibe and the bar was nice so you could easily talk to one another. Our favorite roll was the In&Out Salmon roll by far- the fish was super flavorful and enhanced but the two sauces on top and the two bites you got between the creaminess of the avocado and the freshness of the salmon were awesome. I have not had a bad experience here at Takumi and it is now my go to spot for sushi! I always have to order the sashimi combos, baked mussels, crispy rice, and the tako wasabi! Occasionally my friend and I will order one new dish to try and this place has not let us down in the quality of any of their menu options. A decent spot for your sushi, rolls and sashimi cravings. I ordered the Shrimp Tempura ($3.99), Fresh Water Eel Handroll ($6.75), and Black Spider Roll ($14.99). I enjoyed the shrimp tempura and handroll, the roll had a bit too much sauce for my liking. The crunchy crab that was suppose to be in the black spider roll was soft and soggy, so I knocked off a star. The service was normal, and the ambiance was small and cozy. Definitely recommend to make reservations on line. For a party of 2 on a Saturday night at 5:15 didn't sit inside until 6pm. We were 10th in line. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients they use. Came across Takumi from TikTok as it was named a great, affordable sushi spot. Was in the area and decided to give it a try. And we are so glad we did!! What I loved most is that the sushi fish is so well proportioned to the rice balls. Salmon sushi was the favorite due to it being so buttery. The restaurant is located in a typical strip mall tucked away from the main plaza entrance. The interior is decorated very well that sets the mood and vibe of being in a local sushi joint in Osaka. For a Sunday dinner, the place was certainly packed. I would definitely recommend putting your name on the Yelp waitlist before arriving to reduce the wait time. By doing that, we were promptly seated right after checking in with the hostess. Even though if you are seated at the bar, you won't interact with the chefs as they only process the order through the servers. So I would recommend to forego the sushi bar and get seated at the table which is more comfortable. As for the food, the place offered the usual fare and your typical nigiri and rolls. The fish was ok, with nothing to really wow you. The uni (sea urchin) nigiri is a little dated and was not that fresh. If your preferences are rolls instead of nigiri, then there are quite more selection with the majority of the rolls are the typical california rolls, topped with various types of fish, shrimp, crawfish, etc. and an abundance of mayo sauce. Overall, I would say it's a decent place for a regular night out for sushi, but nothing to really wow you. One note... I did not realize the server accidentally overcharged the dinner bill until I went home and took a look of the receipt. I did call the following day to inform them, and the manager, Daniel, was happy to adjust the bill to the correct amount, and in addition, gave me a $20 gift card for the inconvenience. This is by far our number 1 sushi spot! We have been coming back pretty consistently for the past 2 months, and we're still craving it. This is a great date spot, or even a good family meal. We suggest joining the waitlist before arriving as the place gets packed pretty fast. We always get the salmon nigiri, the pepper salmon, the eel, and my 1 non-negotiable tamago. The rice to fish ratio is perfect, and the rice isn't super vinegary and sweet, which makes the fish stand out. The salmon is buttery, tender, thick, and delicious. It does not give off any fishy taste whatsoever. The pepper salmon is perfectly seared with a slight kick from the black pepper. Service is always attentive and quick. THIS PLACE IS SO GOOD. I love their sushi so much because not only is it good but cheaper compared to other high-end sushi nearby, making it affordable. The restaurant is so cozy and amazing with their yellow light and "homey" feeling. Service was also amazing with constant check-ups. I read about this place on Instagram. It looked interesting. The interior is like a street in Tokyo. We sat down at the sushi bar, but this bar is different. The sushi chefs were very busy making rolls and do not interact with the customers. Our waitress took our order. The sushi rolls come in a smaller size but less than half the price of a regular roll. It is great if you want to try many different rolls. I asked for the garlic edemame and cuccumber salad. Both items were six dollars. WoW!! That is a steal for what you get.
