Finally came in person instead of our regular Uber Eats order. Yes delicious! But wish I had come in with a bigger appetite.

The restaurant is located in a typical strip mall tucked away from the main plaza entrance. The interior is decorated very well that sets the mood and vibe of being in a local sushi joint in Osaka. For a Sunday dinner, the place was certainly packed. I would definitely recommend putting your name on the Yelp waitlist before arriving to reduce the wait time. By doing that, we were promptly seated right after checking in with the hostess. Even though if you are seated at the bar, you won't interact with the chefs as they only process the order through the servers. So I would recommend to forego the sushi bar and get seated at the table which is more comfortable. As for the food, the place offered the usual fare and your typical nigiri and rolls. The fish was ok, with nothing to really wow you. The uni (sea urchin) nigiri is a little dated and was not that fresh. If your preferences are rolls instead of nigiri, then there are quite more selection with the majority of the rolls are the typical california rolls, topped with various types of fish, shrimp, crawfish, etc. and an abundance of mayo sauce. Overall, I would say it's a decent place for a regular night out for sushi, but nothing to really wow you. One note... I did not realize the server accidentally overcharged the dinner bill until I went home and took a look of the receipt. I did call the following day to inform them, and the manager, Daniel, was happy to adjust the bill to the correct amount, and in addition, gave me a $20 gift card for the inconvenience. That is top-notch customer service.

This is by far our number 1 sushi spot! We have been coming back pretty consistently for the past 2 months, and we're still craving it. This is a great date spot, or even a good family meal. We suggest joining the waitlist before arriving as the place gets packed pretty fast. We always get the salmon nigiri, the pepper salmon, the eel, and my 1 non-negotiable tamago. The rice to fish ratio is perfect, and the rice isn't super vinegary and sweet, which makes the fish stand out. The salmon is buttery, tender, thick, and delicious. It does not give off any fishy taste whatsoever. The pepper salmon is perfectly seared with a slight kick from the black pepper. Service is always attentive and quick. We can rely on Takumi Sushi to provide a satisfying and delicious sushi dinner! See you again this week!

Takumi Sushi is a solid sushi restaurant in Costa Mesa. It is the sibling restaurant of Eat's Sushi, and it has an outdoor patio area. Food tastes great and was reasonably priced. We ordered a variety of nigiri, tako wasa, and jumbo scallop. Everything tasted great. It does get busy. While service is friendly, it can take a while to get orders out due to high demand.

This place has such cute atmosphere and decor BUT YALL, the food was fire!! This location is its own little restaurant with bar and table seating and plenty of parking:) plus a bathroom for customers! What we got: salmon blue crab roll (10/10) bay scallop sushi (9/10) *lots of scallop* madai (snapper) (9/10) *this was so good* fatty tuna (10/10) *melt in ur mouth* cucumber roll (9/10) mountain roll (7/10) spider roll (7/10) bluefin new style sashimi (8/10) salmon new style sashimi (10/10) Our favorite was definitely the madai and fatty tuna sushi! It was so wonderful I couldn't stopped smiling:) You should def check out Takumi Sushi in Costa Mesa

I was really looking forward to eating at Takumi Sushi. I had a great experience overall. Food: I got to sample a few sushi rolls and a couple of appetizers. All of the rolls taste delicious. The seaweed salad and garlic edaname both tasted delicious. My favorite roll is the Baja California Roll. My favorite appetizer is the seaweed salad Service: Our waitress was very friendly and helpful throughout our visit. Ambiance: I really like the decor inside the restaurant but the seating is a bit cramped. Overall: This is a great sushi restaurant.

I read about this place on Instagram. It looked interesting. The interior is like a street in Tokyo. We sat down at the sushi bar, but this bar is different. The sushi chefs were very busy making rolls and do not interact with the customers. Our waitress took our order. The sushi rolls come in a smaller size but less than half the price of a regular roll. It is great if you want to try many different rolls. I asked for the garlic edemame and cuccumber salad. Both items were six dollars. WoW!! That is a steal for what you get. Anywhere else, those items would be twice as much. I ordered a spicy salmon roll that was six dollars. Unbelievable how much fish and the size of the roll. I was shocked. Great food, great service, clean restaurant, at unbelievable prices. Five stars! My highest recommendation. Everything is six dollars, and just look at my pictures. Yelp check in people get a free soda. Thank you.

Tasty eats in a small sushi spot. Went for a mid-week dinner - rsvsp is def recommended (or join the waitlist ahead of time) as there's not many tables there. Entire party does need to be there to sit. Ordered several different sashimi and sushi roll dishes. Everything was very good - especially liked the salmon and albacore sashimi dishes. Price was very reasonable as well. Would def recommend!

I waitlisted once they opened and it was already filled when I got there. I ended up choosing patio seating for no wait. I ordered some salmon, scallop, tuna, fatty tuna, and yellowtail nigiris along with salmon and yellowtail carpaccios and salmon crab roll. They were all good and the fish was fresh. Overall, I would recommend this spot if you are craving sushi and don't want AYCE. Service was quick too. I love how they have patio seating, it seems to be dog friendly as well.

Wow -- Takumi absolutely delivered. From the moment we sat down, the service was warm, attentive, and seamless without ever feeling overbearing. The staff gave thoughtful recommendations and made the whole experience feel intentional. The food? Outstanding. Every item was fresh, beautifully presented, and packed with flavor. You can really taste the quality of the fish -- clean, delicate, and perfectly balanced. Portions were generous (very generous). We left happily stuffed and still had enough to take home If you're looking for sushi that combines quality, atmosphere, and genuinely great service, Takumi is it. Definitely coming back.

I just had dinner at Takumi Sushi in Costa Mesa, and honestly? It's a total hidden gem! I'm still thinking about it. First off, you have to get the New Style Ankimo (Monkfish Liver). I know it sounds fancy, but it's literally like the "foie gras of the sea"--so creamy and smooth, it just melts! We also grabbed the Tako Wasabi and Soft Shell Crab to start, and both were super fresh and perfectly crunchy. For the main event, the Sashimi Combo B is a steal. You get 12 thick, beautiful pieces of fish that taste like they were caught this morning. If you aren't in the mood for raw fish, their Salmon Teriyaki Bento and Beef Bulgogi are huge and so comforting--perfect for when you want a "real" meal. And the best part? The price! We got the Zen Roll and Alaskan Roll for under $8 each. In this economy?! I'm obsessed. The vibe is so chill and the staff (shoutout to Irene J!) were so sweet. It's the perfect spot for a casual date or just catching up with friends over amazing food.

I was craving Japanese food for lunch a couple of days ago and decided to try something new in Costa Mesa. Takumi popped up as an option. This place was clearly a local favorite after talking to a couple of people that were waiting to get seated. Scrolling through the extensive menu, Takumi offers creative rolls and thoughtful combinations at an affordable price. I went with the Energy Roll, the Sushi Blossom, and a bowl of miso soup. Both sushi items were beautifully presented and tasted fresh. Service was quick and friendly.

Super yummy sushi spot! I love the space and interior design choices. I feel like not enough restaurants do this anymore. The food was yummy and the fish quality was good! My favorite bites were the salmon blue crab and the baked mussels. Wish there was more of the wasabi octopus. But I would come back again if I'm craving sushi a la carte!

The Crispy Rice with spicy tuna was definitely a favorite. The rice was perfectly crunchy, the spicy tuna was packed with flavor. Next was the Mad Man roll, which has filet mignon on top. The filet was tender, flavorful, and paired surprisingly well with the sushi. But the highlight for me was the Miso-glazed Chilean sea bass. The miso glaze added the perfect amount of sweetness and umami without overpowering the fish. Also, shoutout to our server! I feel bad because I forgot her name, but she was incredibly sweet, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. For $160 for just a few rolls (no appetizers, no drinks, no dessert), the value simply is not there. The only redeeming quality was the staff. They were genuinely very kind, attentive, and helpful. Unfortunately, good service alone can't justify the quality or price. I won't be returning. I'd rather spend my money at places like Pacific Catch in Tustin or restaurants that prioritize and certify the quality of their seafood. As consumers, we have to support places that deliver real value.
