    Lunch omakase
    Calli Y.

You need to make a reservation which is $50/person. You wait till your time opens and then you go. Small room with 1 tabletop. Lunch omakase deal is great for $68. Friendly servers and chefs. The one we had today was very friendly and engaged in conversation. All the fish tasted fresh and loved the pairings that went with them. They put a candle in the dessert for the birthday person which is a nice touch. Would totally go back! SYOY

Omakase is one of my kind to enjoy the specific dishes from the chefs. First time here, I Enjoyed the ambiance, the timing of the dishes coming out, chef explained each dishes as it was being served to everyone at the dining table. Great customer service, The sushi tasted very fresh. Tbh, with this price we should have more grade 5 meat, compared to Kame Vegas .. they use high quality meat from the bid. Still 5 stars rated.. !

Finally got to try the sushi omakase dinner at Kuramoto for my birthday dinner, and it was a great experience. Chef Kuramoto served up a delicious meal from beginning to finish. Everything was so good but my favorites included the Hokkaido Uni, black cod w shaved black truffle, kanpachi, toro with uni miso and eel uni rice. We had the 6pm first seating and arrived early to sit right in front of Chef Kuramoto. There were 14 seats and at least 9 of us were celebrating birthdays lol. Dinner will be over before 8pm for the next seating. There is only one dinner omakase available. The food, service and ambiance were all excellent. This is definitely one of the best sushi omakase in Orange County.

We made reservations to celebrate a birthday here after reading all the rave reviews of this spot and ended up loving this spot. It's a smaller restaurant with two seatings a night. Each course was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented with my favorite being the perch hand roll. It was perfectly torched which made the fish melt in your mouth with a hint of smokiness. The main course ended up being an a5 Wellington that surprised us with the chefs creativity. My only note would be that it felt a little heavy compared to the rest of the meal but we still thoroughly enjoyed every bite of it. This spot is perfect for a date night or if you're in the mood to celebrate an occasion.

To start off, kuramota is located in a plaza with ample parking. However the store itself has no sign except for a marked door. Therefore, I would park first and enter second. The service was quick and the chefs are a bit on the quieter side since they're focusing on the food. The ambiance inside is incredible. It's so intimate and perfect for a date or a night out. I went for the lunch omakase and it ended up being around $85 pp. This was actually a very good price considering the amount of food I had and the quality of the food. We went right as it opened and celebrated my friends graduation, hence the special candle on top of our dessert. Overall, I would easily come back. However I would also want to try the dinner menu.

Came here for lunch and the service was great. Everyone was very attentive and I really appreciated the pacing of the omakase. We didn't feel rushed like we do at other places. The fish was fresh and rice was tasty with a nice bite. I would recommend the lunch omakase!

Omakase was pretty good. The fish was fresh but the appetizers and other dishes stood out more for me. The service was okay. It was polite and prompt. Not as friendly as other omakase places I've been to though. I would recommend trying it!

Kuramoto is a small Japanese omakase restaurant located in a plaza in Tustin. The storefront was very unassuming and there was only one small sign on top of the door. The restaurant is led by Chef Taiki Kuramoto and opened 1.5 years ago. We made reservations and they don't take walk-ins unless you're able to take a spot if another party cancels. When we walked in there was only counter space in a very sleek and minimalistic interior. We found out about this restaurant on social media talking about the lunch omakase ($68). That is a great deal for an omakase so we wanted to check it out. The meal started off with sashimi salad and we really liked the sweet shrimp and dressing. Then we moved to the soup with shrimp, mushroom, and steamed egg. Next was the variety of nigiri including sea bream with yuzu (good), ocean trout (really good), amberjack with dashi soy sauce and red yuzu (good), stripejack with pickled wasabi and puff rice (really good), black cod with lemon and truffle salt (really good), bluefin tuna (really good and my favorite), and toro with pickled radish (good). At the end of the meal we had Santa Barbara uni and salmon egg, dashi soup, and chocolate mousse. I liked the faster pace of the food coming out because I personally don't want to be waiting long periods between meals and sitting for a long time. Overall it took a little more than an hour for our meal. For the value the meal was great. There were fewer courses than other omakases but we left feeling satisfied and it was way more inexpensive. And of course, the food was delicious.

First time visitor Open parking Reservations yes highly recommended as it is very limited seating available! Also note busy and quiet time of the year that may impact your experience with the chef and choice of food. There is a lunch service but much more condense and sounds to be quicker while dinner there is a 6pm and 8pm. Bar dining only one main room only Authentic Omakase experience with Chef Taiki Kuramoto There is no menu, the Chef sets the adventure! The menu is rotated every 2 months! Dress code not sure but it very appears up scale but also pending the occasion can vary. Essentially there is not a set dress code that was stated. Service was wonderful. We were fortunate to have the dining room to ourselves. The Chef was very personable and passionate for his craft! Ingredients were locally sourced or directly from Japan. Each dish was explain and even his head server was very pleasant between all transitions of service and providing explanation of what was being served. Though can be seen as a pricey experience, very worth the once in a treat / celebration / try something new adventure. Each dish offer a different taste, fresh delicate flavorful that was not overwhelming and in the form of hot, cold, a hint of spice, utilizing multiple proteins both high end and simple along unique ingredients - was able to taste multiple combinations that involved 2 types of yuzu uni caviar duck liver There was also a flavorful broth that was comforting and cozy and reminded me of a palate cleanser and the dessert simple chocolate mousse that was not overly sweet to close off the experience. Very much would return again for curiously of next seasonal menu. Wouldn't recommend for young children. Very thankful to have the opportunity to dine with good company, high quality service and dishes, and a passionate Chef.

Such an intimate omakase experience! We had the best time and every bite of food was amazing. We booked online, super easy but they do charge $100 pp deposit but you get it back once you show up. The email said show up 10 mins early so we did that but they were kinda closed until the time of our reservation. one of my faves was the toro with uni miso, I ate it super slow to savor. The whole experience is about 1.5 hours and well paced. I was super satisfied after the meal. Total cost was a little pricer like $220 pp but worth the price based on freshness and experience as a whole. Also fun fact the toilet is heated!!

Truly consistently amazing. This place is a GEM. Came here again for lunch and was once again blown away. Random Thursday, but Chef Taiki was at the head once more. The nigiri was perfect this time. The fish is beautifully cut, each piece uniform in texture and chosen with care. Just look at it!! The chefs do not just make food, they create art. The rice this time was seasoned well and cooked perfectly. The temperature of both the fish and the rice was a perfect contrast. If this place was only a sushiya I would still be happy. Thoughts on other dishes - salad dressing a bit on the sweeter side, just how I like it personally. Steamed egg was wonderful, with lots of umami. Dessert this time was some sort of chocolate pudding, with what looked like Meiji sandwich cookies added in. Service was perfect from beginning to end. Very thoughtful and meticulous. Admin notes - lunch and dinner are both reservation only. It is all bar seating. The lot has free parking and is shared with other businesses. I have eaten omakase for a very long time (three decades) in the Irvine/Tustin/Santa Ana/Costa Mesa region and this is indisputably my current favorite post-COVID.

We each ordered a Combo B bento box, and also shared a Final Fantasy specialty roll. We only waited like 10 minutes for our food. All of the food was standard of what you'd expect in Japanese cuisine. No complaints! The interior of Sushi Bear is clean, and the staff is very kind and hospitable. The last time I ate at Sushi Bear was 7 years ago, so I anticipated they would continue serving authentic Japanese food which they certainly did! There's usually sufficient parking in the plaza.

We ordered the following: Agedashi Tofu: This was honestly the highlight of the meal. I have been craving this appetizer, but not many places around here actually offer it. The last place I tried this was at Haku, and I was not impressed by it. However, the tofu here was really good! It was hot, crispy, and the sauce was perfectly sweet and salty. It comes with 4 larger sized pieces of tofu, which I thought was great, but could have been more for the price. Stir Fry Udon: This dish was advertised outside on one of their stand up signs by the front door. This is part of what brought us in, but upon receiving it, I was not too impressed. The sauce was extremely dark and it already looked salty. When I actually tasted it, I was not surprised that it tasted exactly how it looked. It was way too salty and saucey to the point, we were eating one bite then drinking water right after. It was a pretty simple dish with what looked like frozen carrots and peas and some cut up chicken. Lunch Bento Box Option 2: We opted in for the teriyaki salmon, gyoza, and salmon roll. It came with a side of salad and miso soup. The salmon was cut very thin and it did not have enough teriyaki sauce on it. It was on the dry side. The gyoza was nothing too special. Just felt frozen then dried with gyoza sauce. Miso soup and salad were also just decent. The best part of this meal probably had to be the salmon roll. I liked the big portions of salmon and the little rice on the outside. This was the perfect balance instead of just getting a mouthful of rice each bit like most other sushi places do. I think this place was decent, overall. The prices were definitely on the higher side for what you get. Nothing too much to rave about other than the agedashi tofu, so I will be by for that again, but not sure if I would necessarily get anything else. Service was attentive and great. Just know, not all their offerings are actually listed on the menu, so we did not even know how much the stir fry udon was until we got charged for it.

This place nickel and dimes customers for everything. We were charged $6 just to add cucumber to a roll, $4 to add gobo, and even an extra charge to add lemon. The biggest issue wasn't even the prices, it was that our waiter never mentioned any of these upcharges when we ordered. If you're going to charge premium prices for simple additions, customers deserve to be told beforehand. We've eaten at countless sushi restaurants over the years, and we've never been charged these kinds of fees for basic add-ons, especially without any warning. It felt deceptive and left a terrible impression. Restaurants don't lose customers over a few dollars. They lose them when customers feel misled. Transparent pricing builds trust. We arrived at 8pm on a Sat, luckily there was no wait which after eating the food I was surprised there was no wait, maybe because they close at 930 and I am sure there is a last call. This next part is coming from someone who has been to Japan and experienced restaurants out there. When we first got inside we were greeted by all staff, including the ones hidden behind the counter, the first thing that came to my mind was the feeling of being back in Japan just a little bit bigger. Very cozy and intimate it really put that feeling of "hey you can relax, we got you". Easily my mind being transported back here with some people sitting in the restaurant, glad they left not to long after we were sat down. They have a good amount of choices and as I always say sushi restaurants with pictures in their menu is always such a W, our eyes eat first. What we ordered, we first started with sake and went with Kikusui which is always really smooth specially chilled. What I loved about here, was they come with a big round plate and let you choose your sake vessel, as you can tell from my photos we choose the ones with the little fish in them, that was a first and really stood out. First that came were the sushi pairs: Seared Tuna With Garlic Chips: Lightly seared but just the right amount, same goes with the rice vessel, it wasn't too much or too little. Very good and fresh tuna, that sear gave the tuna a very nice texture, the comes the crunch from the garlic chips. Very nice flavor bomb! Albacore: Delicious and fresh, really made me excited for the rolls coming up. Peppered Albacore With Garlic Chips: I forgot I had this after trying just the albacore by itself so I got excited that I didn't have to wait for the rolls. And this did not disappoint, the peppered part of the dish had just the right of a double jab of Cajun and smoky, which paired perfectly with the albacore, then randomly ghost punch of garlic with those crispy garlic chips. If they had all you can eat, oh man there would be never a time I didn't have this in front of me. In my pictures there was a peppered salmon with fresh onions, my wifes sister ordered this so I didn't get to try but she said it was really good and fresh. Our sushi rolls came out and AIYAH what kind of reviewer forgets to take a photo of an item. Sitting sadly in the bokeh distance we did order a: Stinky Roll - Which was your regular sushi roll but topped with Albacore, fresh onion and garlic butter. As mentioned above, everything was delicious and fresh, I don't like onions so to me I was questioning where is the stank, I love garlic and dipping it into the garlic butter was different but good. It was overall a good roll but this would be last amongst what we ordered. O.C. Roll: Shrimp Tempura, spicy tuna avocado inside topped with fresh salmon and lemon slices. This can go two ways for people, in example I ate the two end pieces as they are and it was delicious, then when I went for a middle piece, if you eat the lemon slice, that part will explode and with a sharp sour or bitter taste that like I said some people love or some don't. I probably had a small piece of the lemon on the corner pieces, so for me I took the slices off and it was still a fantastic roll. Autumn Roll: My favorite amongst the rolls, Spicy Tuna, avo, cilantro and cucumber inside, topped with peppered salmon and albacore. Just an umami explosion, lil heat from the spicy tuna, then comes the smoky cajun, it was really good and I was seriously holding back the urge to just take the plate and not share with my wife and her sister. Lastly was my favorite dish: Spicy tuna on crispy rice: I always order this at sushi places and this can easily make or break a place for me. When it arrived I was very questioned, big piece of avo, a good mountain shaped amount of spicy tuna, the shape of it being round was throwing me off. Most places either cute them into a rectangle or even square, my first bite crunch was def there, but it was a sticky inside the crispy rice boat that took a little to separate to get the piece in the mouth. But WAIT A MINUTE, that sticky inside mixed well with the crispy exterior, the rice had flavor and honestly gave me almost like a crunchy mochi vibe. It was different but that's where it set them apart from others I have had. Everything on the vessel was delicious like others, but adding what they did to their crispy rice made me really enjoy and still even as I write this is contender to one of my favorite Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice dishes. In conclusion, I find us coming here on a good rotation in the vast choices of sushi restaurant! (didnt know there was a text cap SORRY!!) Feast Well Fellow Yelpers!
