Absolutely love Klein's. My boyfriend and I go every Sunday morning. Everything is very fresh and that's what I love about the place. I follow them on Instagram and you see them making their products almost daily. No freezer stuff here. Drinks: good in taste and strong. They used Metropolis coffee. We have bought bags of coffee that are roasted within a day of us buying it, so you know the drinks are using fresh beans Food: love the breakfast sandwiches on croissants, the Klein's club, the puff pastries (mushroom, spinach, ham and cream cheese) and Venezuelan cachitos (ham and cream cheese in a pastry like roll) They are available on the ritual app and uber eats, as well as still open for carry out. This charming neighborhood cafe should be a gem. Instead we found it to be disappointing. This was our second visit for breakfast. We ordered two breakfast croissants with bacon, egg and cheese (we'll actually " cheese food "). The food was a huge disappointment. The "cheese" was similar to melted Velveeta; the bacon was mainly fat and undercooked. The egg was so overcooked that it was rubbery and tasteless. All for 9.00 per sandwich. The croissant was the highlight: fresh , perfectly baked; so I attempted to peel it off of the sloppy cheese/bacon goo and ate that. Coffee was delicious (Metropolitan) and fairly priced at 2.90 for 16 ounces. The service was quick, but less than friendly; and the outdoor and indoor spaces offer a pleasant place to enjoy the food, if it were not so inferior. Klein's on Diversey, please offer your neighbors a better cafe! read more

Worst coffee shop in the area. I only continue to go because of proximity, but my order is wrong nearly half the time and then employees are rude about their own mistakes. On a normal day none of the employees are friendly either (and while it may be a cultural difference, it would not earn them stars either way). Spend your money elsewhere. read more

Today is my third time coming to this location. My very first time ordering from Klein's was on the Broadway location; I had travel solo because I love trying out new coffee shops, so this was a new shop to try ... I loved it and later on I invited my sister in law and she loved it as well. This location I found it while I was walking towards the lake to enjoy a nice walk . I was so excited and happy to know there were two locations! I immediately entered and tried a latte and took with me some pastries to try later. Everything behind that glass is delicious, from fruit tarts to flans! As for this location, I have invited friends and family as well to come try cause it's an absolute gem.. Today I stopped in solo and enjoyed a delicious fruit tart and iced hazelnut latte with oatmilk ... lately with the winter weather, I've been feeling those winter blues but this shop has cheered me up. Today they had joyful and lively music and I loved their indoor plants, everything about this place just makes me happy. Cute place, just like their original Uptown location but with far fewer offerings. Bit into a blueberry cheesecake tart, and it wasn't fresh. The pastry bottom and crust were a little tough to cut through, and the glaze top had separated. Not a good first impression. I tried a chocolate cookie, and it was fine. I like Klein's and will enjoy their uptown location for the selection. read more

Was here getting my ice americano + baked goods in the morning / the lady staff who's always in the morning shift never appreciate working here! It's like we're begging for your food for free! But we were paying for it and we do tips! I was order "2" iced americano + "2" baked goods but that lady staff never active listening! I ended up only got "1" iced americano, so I told her that I ordered 2 of them! She said that "why didn't I check first before I made the payment? And I was in shocked! Cause it's was not my fault for her to not being active listening. I stopped in to Klein's to take some meetings and enjoy their coffee. I've had their coffee and food a number of times and it has never disappointed! It was my first time sticking around, and the space if nice with tables and a clean bathroom. The wifi was very spotty however, and I struggled on two Zoom calls with an unstable connection - so just a heads up there! This time around, I was a little bummed out about two things. The last breakfast bagel sandwich I had was one of the best ever, and it set a high bar. This time, I think it was the cheese that threw me off - it was just a cold kraft single vs. last time a tasty thick cut cheddar melted on top. That wasn't my jam, but I'm sure others don't mind it as much. I also had asked when ordering if they offer free refills for dine in guests, and was told yes. When I brought my half drank cup up to be topped off before I meeting, she charged me for half of a small cup of coffee, which I felt was a bit tacky. Don't get me wrong I'm fine to pay a buck for a refill, I just would've ordered a larger size and finished it before getting one. I'll definitely be back though as the staff is lovely and their coffee is fantastic, and I'll just ask if they have different cheese if I get the bagel sandwich! read more

I got coffee and breakfast to go for my bf and me. The cold brew is so good! The breakfast sandwiches wete freshly prepped and delicious! I only wish they had different varieties of bagels because they only offer plain bagels. One thing that I found a bit annoying was the customer service - they were friendly but got my coffee order and my food order wrong. I ordered cold brew without ice several times but yet they gave me cold brew with ice. I reminded them that I ordered cold brew without ice and they fished out some ice. The lady walked off and then I told them the cold brew still has ice and they fished out the rest. They seemed annoyed but I made it clear several times while ordering that I want cold brew without ice. As a customer I should get what I ordered - especially after a few reminders... also, my bagel order was messed up - I ordered one bagel with ham and bacon and one with only bacon. Both came with ham and bacon. At that point I was done complaining and just took it as it... if I didn't have that hassle to get what I want is probably had given 5 stars. read more

Great experience! I went yesterday (a Friday morning) at about 7:30 am and it was just starting to get a little stream of people but not crowded. Excellent cleanliness (employees wiped down outdoor tables periodically even when no one was sitting there (they are on a sidewalk with planters between seats and sidewalk)). They customer service was amazing. So wonderful to see such friendly staff and it made my day. And the Metropolis coffee was fabulous. read more

I went to Klein's with my boyfriend for their amazing bagel breakfast sandwiches. I was interested in trying one of their signature pastries and explore a different cultures food. A guava and cheese pastry caught my eye and the barista at the front highly recommended it she was so pleasant! For one, the staff is giving so much eye-contact. All attention was well-timed and helpful. No one talked to me while I was deciding thank god. They noticed I was looking at the brownie bits up front and let me have as many as I liked (a free underused service, I am noticing.) Slowly gathering my items, I was offered a bag I didn't realize I wanted until it was handed over. I enjoyed seeing the staff laughing together and this latte is incredibly tasty! Stopped in on a Saturday morning to order a breakfast sandwich. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese on an everything bagel. It did not take very long to make - only about 10 minutes. The sandwich was very very good. It was also filling with a good amount of bacon on it. The inside is a really cool chill cafe vibe. I will definitely be going back to get another bagel and try new items on their menu. The grilled cheeses sounded really good. I also want to try there coffee. Overall, a 10/10! read more

It's a family bakery with the family being from Venezuela and they have Venezuelan sweets as well as many other incredible options - think Nutella cheesecake! A welcomed addition to the neighborhood! My wife is Venezuelan and this place reminds her of her childhood when Venezuela was a wonderful country. I am a bit of a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich connoisseur and Klein's has one of the best ones. They use a bunch of bacon and tear it up a little so you get some in every bite. Love! I've only been here ~15 minutes, but this is officially my new favorite neighborhood cafe. The barista, Luis, couldn't possibly be any warmer and friendlier! Apparently everything is made on site, and the Venezuelan owners import ingredients from Venezuela for some of the cafe items. The coffee is delish, my fruit tart is one of the best I've ever had, the music is light and cheerful, and sitting in the window watching the trees, sky, and passersby feels both relaxing and rejuvenating. The only thing I would change would be to add almond milk to the coffee menu. Otherwise, perfection! read more

Love our local coffee shop and have been coming for years (love this over Dollop, and like their pastry options better than Drink Happy Thoughts). Mobile order makes things a breeze. You can tell when items are made fresh, and they taste great when they are. We went a little too far out on a limb and ordered a rainbow cake for our casual backyard wedding (we've always seen their beautiful cakes in the windows, but never justified spending so much on one until this moment!) But we were sadly disappointed. We couldn't even cut through it for the cut-the-cake photo shot because it was so hard/dense! It needed a true butchers knife, and didn't have much flavor and was rather dry. A guest at the wedding was a baker and explained that the cake didn't rise properly, and perhaps little sugar was added. We saw most of the cake being thrown out from the plates it was served on :( Jewel sheet cake, which is a traditional American lightweight cake, matched out tastes better when I grabbed a slice a week later (and was still moist and delicious after 5 days). Shame on us for not trying the cake first though before buying a whole one, we truly thought nothing could go wrong, and are just chalking it up to cultural differences/expectations around cakes, since an Argentine friend of mind makes these types of cakes too that are not that great lol. read more
