Naturally with the name I had to come. SUCH a great experience. I came the last day of the season and Olivia herself was there. What a treat she is! I was trying to get some souvenirs and she told me a couple spots to check out and held my table while I went across the street! I wanted something fresh and local and they're a great place for that. It's her parents restaurant and her mom grows herbs that they use in dishes. Olivia travels a lot so it was serendipitous that I actually got to meet her! Seemed like a spot a lot of the locals hang at, felt very homey, Cheers type everyone knows your name place with delicious food! I did a Rojito, seafood pasta and a side of crostini. The drink was so refreshing! I remember her mom was involved with its creation and of course it's her fresh grown mint! The pasta had huge chunks of very tasty seafood! Outside of being here (AK) I probably wouldn't order something like that but I'm glad I did. The pasta was delicious and the seafood was fresh. The crostini's were so good too. I hear they have great desserts but we shared a fry bread earlier and there was just no room for more. I got a shirt bc I couldn't not. I truly loved it here. Such a chill, kind vibe. Ambiance is old timey Wild West, comfortable booth and a chance to people watch. Food was good, however, since we came on a Sunday, they were out of most of the menu items. So sad! Their supplies come on a barge, and barge day is Tuesday. However, the cocktails were good, flavorful and strong. Got the crab legs (split the pound) and a side of fries. The crab was good, but not ohmygod good (honestly I have crab shipped to my house from Alaska that was better). The fries were awesome! And I'm not a fry person. This is a small place that puts a big smile on your face! Fast and prompt service. The menu items are prepared tastefully. I had the elk meatballs. The sauce was so good; this was served with mini toasted bread ovals with a rich full sauce. The whipped cream cheese on top was an extra bite of goodness. The service was fast and attentive. I had a half order of the king crab legs which brought the price down to around $50 instead of the normal$100+ elsewhere in Alaska. Plenty big fresh and delicious nonetheless. WOW!! I've done the Alaskan Cruise a few times now and came across this amazing hidden gem! Walk down the main road in Skagway ( It's like walking on a Wild, Wild West movie set from the late 1800's. ) the restaurant is located inside the stunning Skagway Heritage Inn. The King Crab was without a doubt the best I've had thus far! The customer service adds a delightful atmosphere, all the employees are extremely approachable, friendly and happy to answer any questions you might have. Most of the employees working are from out of state that love to spend their summers in these small towns for the Spring/Summer Alaska cruise season. They deserve the extra kindness and an extra tip goes a long ways for them. Our server was from Ballard, Washington (Seattle) and she definitely made our lunch/dinner experience very memorable. We HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend the King Crab legs, every part of the crab had a different fresh unforgettable flavor and that butter was something else!, can't wait to go back and visit again. The Inn is such a unique historical landmark, dating back to the late 1800's and still maintains many of its original features. OMG, where to begin. My family and I visited Skagway today and discovered the greatest restaurant possibly in the entire state! We weren't there for a typical meal, we did a culinary and Alaskan gardening class. These two things happen to be my all time favorite pass times. I learned so much from nearly every staff member I came into contact with. Their pastry chef taught us so much about bread making and the science behind it and was incredibly knowledgeable. The in house gardener (yes they have one of those!) grows ingredients on site to help supplement food costs and she taught us so much about how climate impacts the plants she grows. (Their rhubarb was gigantic) everything we ate was off the charts amazing! If I had to give a negative comment it would be that the manager seemed inconvenienced by the guests and made sure to tell us that we were keeping him from his busy day, but to be fair he said he isn't usually the one who gives guest presentations so I have to give him props for doing it even when he clearly had other things to do. DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE if you find yourself in Skagway, but get there early because space is limited. 11/10 Great job!!! read more

Best, most innovative restaurant in Skagway. I've eaten at every restaurant in Skagway, most several times. This place is the best - hands down. The pecan crusted halibut and the elk (both only available after 5pm) are the stars of the menu. The best appetizers are the "bread & spread" the shrimp and the crab cakes. The salads are excellent - the veggies are from their garden on the patio. Try the rhubarb bread pudding. The only thing I've had here which I wasn't particularly keen on was the fish and chips. It wasn't bad, but it isn't in the same league as the rest of the menu. Service is good, but often quite stressed. The restaurant is understaffed. Everyone in Skagway is hiring, and there simply aren't enough seasonal workers to fill all the positions. Consequently, many businesses are cutting hours. read more

The food was great and the owners/ Olivia herself were wonderful. I had issue with the rest of the staff that we interacted with. While we were waiting to be seated, a server came outside to answer her phone and yell at her own mother for disrupting her while she was at work. How about not keeping your phone on you while at work? It only went downhill from there. I was a member of a large party. We booked and ordered in advance and they were aware that we were coming. We were given a tour of the garden, but there was no other plan for us before seating except that we were instructed to order drinks from the bar. Several member of my party were scolded from being in the way by the server that yelled at her mother. After that point, I had a trauma response reaction any time I had to interact with her. She was so bossy with the kitchen staff that no one corrected her when she told the kitchen staff that everyone ordered salads, which they did not. She kept huffing and sighing any time she approached the open kitchen expediting area, which was right next to my table. The other expediter acted extremely put out that we were there. I heard him demanding to be paid for the extra salads that weren't ordered. He said that our group made his week for coming, but his tone and demeanor indicated differently. It was overall a very unenjoyable experience. I will likely not eat there again. It was overpriced for the menu selection that we were given and the way we were treated by staff. They were so welcoming and the spot is a little oasis of calm on another busy busy Skagway tourism day. They welcomed us and our little puppy outside and our server Kristin was just lovely. Food came faster than a McDonalds but was So good. Ceviche and Smoked burger were amazing as were the custom spritzers flavored fresh from their garden. Food is fantastic, simple, well executed, with a little twist. We ordered the Halibut sandwich, Bison Reuben sandwich, and the Alaskan House Halibut Chowder. Halibut was lightly breaded, thick, and fresh. The corned bison brisket is prepared on site and is a "must try". Same with the House Chowder. The restaurant is a bit tight but has a bed and breakfast, small Inn feel. Cozy and appropriate. Service is very friendly and down to earth. Ask for recommendations or specials. On the ground floor of the Inn was a wonderful Bistro. After grabbing a quick shower after hiking the trail, my wife and I explore the town a bit only to come back here for a meal. Small town, quick walk, and the fish and chips sounded really good. I saw it on the way out and I just kept thinking about it. Happy to report that it was as delicious as I hoped for. The fish were well seasoned and battered to a crispy flaky goodness. The fries were also rough cut with the skins still on some and I enjoyed the rustic take. We stopped in on our port day in Skagway and highly recommend. We got the garden flatbread and the salmon chowder to split and both were phenomenal. It had been one of our favorite meals in port thus far on our Alaskan cruise. They have their own garden and many of the veggies are garden to table! The restaurant is attached to the Skagway Inn and has a nice ambiance that is not touristy like many of the other places on Broadway in town. They had limited ingredients so the earlier you have lunch/dinner the better. While we were finishing our dessert (home made bread pudding...SO YUMMY!!) they were talking about beingout of the salmon, which is what I had for lunch. We came on an 8 hour stop on our ship. This team was hustling! I cannot say enough about their kindness and patience with an onslaught of customers. Not only was the food delicious and elevated but the front of house was genuine and helpful. They were short staff and people stepped up to a challenge and did great. Where do I start? The ambiance was fabulous. Small town spot with friendly staff and great food overall. We were at port from a cruise and came in from a recommendation from a local because this place is so small we may have missed it. We were looking for the king crab and they were out but we were already comfortable and loved the atmosphere, so we stayed. We ended up with the smoked salmon puffed pastry, which came with the crab chowder and a green salad. I also ordered a side of the reindeer sausage. The chowder was packed full of crab, not just some broth with a little crab! The pastry was good but would've been better with a little more filling. The dressing on the salad was bitter and needed some seasoning, like perhaps salt and pepper. (I should've asked for a different dressing but I typically like vinaigrette's) but the real star for me was mixing the well seasoned sausage with everything to bring that balance. I spent about $35 on this lunch, which was a great Alaskan experience! read more

Eight of us arrived for an early dinner thinking we would avoid the evening rush and relieve added pressure on the kitchen and servers. Dinner was OK at best. Nice dining, fair service. But it did (perhaps understandably for a table of 8) take a while for our meal to arrive. If you look with discerning eyes, you could find a smaller than spoon size morsel of fish in the halibut pasta. Perhaps there was chopped halibut in the sauce, but difficult to discern as well. I would rather pay a little more and add some substance to the meal. The pasta was slightly undercooked and cold. However, the sauce had an excellent seasoned (not fishy) flavor. One of our party, an executive chef, stated that the seafood chowder was refrigerator cold and could not be eaten. That said, most everything was bursting with flavor. With added substance, served hot and timely...Olivia's has the potential to provide a fine dining experience. Perhaps our experience is a one-off or perhaps is of little concern given no need to build a loyal following among transient tourist clientele in Skagway. With only a little added attention to preparation and service, Olivia's has the potential to deliver a WOW experience. read more
