Worth the hype for sure, so so good! My husband and I's only regret is that we didn't get our own, had the line not been so long we would've totally got another one. There are two lines - one to order and one to get your item. There are also so many souvenirs that you can look at while in line which was very nice. Delicious! If you're in town, make sure to stop here for a treat! They only sell doughboys and shaved ice. I didn't get to try the shaved ice but they did have a fireweed flavor that sounded interesting. There always seemed to be a line but it moved extremely quick and they were constantly making fresh doughboys. There was also a great coffee place right next door! I didn't get a picture since I ate it all up (it was too good) but I highly recommend coming in for a snack. read more

I was fortunate enough to visit this place on a port stop in Skagway, Alaska on a cruise. This was a must try according to many YouTube videos and it did not disappoint. For me it was equivalent to being kissed by an angel it was a very heavenly treat. It was light and airy and was big enough for 2 people to share and less than 10 dollars. The workers was very pleasant upon entering this establishment. I can't say I'll ever make it back but if I could find a place like this in Missouri it would make my day!!!! read more

We went on the same Alaskan cruise two years in a row and made a point to stop at Klondike Doughboy two years in a row. Despite seeing plenty of stunning sights in Skagway and beyond, I think we talked about the doughboy more than any other Alaskan feat. This shop is quick and efficient. I can't even imagine how many glorious doughboys they pump out per day. Hundreds? Thousands? The doughboys themselves are perfect pillowy pieces of dough. They're dusted perfectly with cinnamon, sugar, and love. Though I don't think a third consecutive year of Alaskan cruising is in our cards, I do hope another trip to Klondike Doughboy will be in our future! read more

Of course I had to try fry bread in Skagway- this shop was packed! The service was very fast, I ended up getting other things as well. The fry bread is this warm delicious bread coated in cinnamon sugar that will give you a food coma after so make sure you are sharing it and don't eat the whole thing!! They have souvenirs and other goodies in the store- they had jam and honey that was made in alaska so if you want to bring back goodies, this is a good shop to get that from! read more

Doughboy tasted good, but I don't know that it is any better than the fry bread I've had at my local reservations. I think it was slightly overdone because the edges were tough and the center was almost crispy. The service and workers there was great though. read more

While I was walking the streets of Skagway, I saw a long line and I'm the type to check it out lol I saw a big sign saying Alaskan fry bread and I never had that before so I was excited to try it. I randomly just got in line and a few minutes later someone said that it was a line you go to after you order haha so I had to go to another line to order but it wasn't that long. I finally got my fry bread and boy it's a big piece! You can easily share it with 2 other people. It was fresh out of the fryer with sprinkled cinnamon and sugar I think. Every bite was so good and I just kept eating it until I got halfway to save it for later. Also, there's no tables inside so you can eat it outside. On this cold day folks waited in line that extends outside in the cold for this flat donut type pastry. As you make your way inside, you get a look at all the jarred products for sale inside this little shop. As I watch the lady place the dough in the frier and turn it over couple times. Remove it and put some cinnamon on both sides and knock off the excess. Placed it on a piece of paper and hand it to me. Like an excited kid I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into it. Because it was served hot and it was cold outside. That first bite was really delicious. Like a donut and the cinnamon made the perfect touch to it. Where do I even start? This treat is worth the hype! The texture and consistency of this bread is worth standing in line for. It's like pita bread meets churro. The shop is small but there are so many goodies that you can find in there like salmon spreads, etc. When we went, the line was pretty long but the line went by pretty quickly. The lines can get confusing, so here's the process...the line on the right is to order. Once you order and given your receipt, you go back out and stand in line on the left to pick up your order. In our case, because we had lunch in the restaurant next door, we simply asked for a favor to pick up our doughboys after we're done for lunch. A staff initialed our receipt and told us we could skip the line and go straight to the counter whenever we're ready to pick up. We did just that without a problem. While the staff were fine, they weren't overly friendly, and they weren't super efficient. But, the fry bread is pretty darn good, my kids likened it to an oddly shaped, large churro.
