I hate to write such a poor review. I used to love Kneader's. But it has significantly gone downhill in the past few years. I waited in a drive-through line for 30 minutes. My mealcost me $18. The portion sizes are awful. My sandwich had like hardly any protein on it and the cup of soup was so small. For $18 I could not believe, the amount of food I got. And my sandwich was missing the mayo. Which isn't a huge deal but when you wait 30 minutes and pay $18 for a sandwich and soup, I would expect it to be a little bit better. Will not be returning. After closing half their restaurants without any warning, you would think this place would want customers. I have the worst turkey croissant sandwich there tonight in my life. The croissant did even look like a croissant and there was absolutely no meat on the sandwich, no cheese and very little cranberry sauce. Ate at this location today. First thing I noticed was how filthy the front door was. All the glasses cases in the store were dirty. I don't think they've been cleaned in a month. Three kids were running the front and they had horrible customer service skills. Music was loud and sounded like hard rock. Not very pleasant. Food was not impressive. Chicken noodle soup was cold. Extremely slow service! I did an order ahead of time for a pickup for an early lunch and when I arrived at that time the order was not ready. The order hadn't even been started yet. I stood around for 26 minutes until the order was completed and when I watched the workers they were moving slow like they didn't care. A sandwich or salad shouldn't take that long especially when you know about it ahead of time since it was an online order. Several times people mention to me that they are thinking about getting Kneader's and I always warn them about the slow service and advise them to go somewhere else. We went to the Kneaders on Baseline in Gilbert this morning. We ordered a pumpkin muffin top, cinnamon roll, and 2 cups of coffee. The coffee urn had just enough coffee to fill only one of our cups, but that coffee was not even hot. It took over 20 minutes to get the 2 bakery items that we ordered, which didn't even require any cooking. After 20 minutes, my husband returned to the counter and asked how much longer before our bakery items would be ready, and at the same time, he let them know that the coffee urn was empty. The lady behind the counter said, "it shouldn't be much longer, and I'll have someone take care of the coffee." There were several employees behind the counter, but everyone appeared to not really have a sense of purpose other than just showing up for work. If there was a Manager on site, they were not visible. After receiving our order, and still without coffee, my husband let them know a second time the coffee urn was still empty. The young lady at the counter just said, "we will get some coffee out there soon." The coffee urn was finally refilled as we had already eaten and were leaving. We like Kneader's, but sadly, we won't be returning to this location. read more

I feel like giving two stars is generous but.. the French toast WAS delicious. We came in on Saturday at 9:30 am. We were the second people in line, but obviously can't know how many people had ordered before us. That being said-- our order of an omelet, French toast & a smoothie took over 30 minutes. The girl who took our order didn't know what came in the omelet. My husband asked what was in it and she mumbled some stuff. It was hard to hear her behind her mask. Upon looking at the menu online, it has pick de Gallo and cheddar cheese. She did not know what pico de gallo was, didn't say it clearly, so when my husband asked what that was and if it was some type of meat like chorizo (we know what pico is but she clearly wasn't saying it right), she said "yeah, it's like that". Anyway, the ordering was weird. But then it just got more weird. The line started to grow. We ended up noticing they were getting swamped. There were a lot of tickets in the window. No one had any sense of urgency. All the employees were all just kind of moseying around. Other guests clearly started getting upset, as we watched numerous people start going to the counter asking about their meals. It was honestly just embarrassing. There was no manager presence whatsoever. There was a huge spill that was not getting cleaned. They were out of straws. Just not a good look overall. There was a lady who ordered an iced coffee with caramel in front of us. The girl who took the order seemed so confused about how to execute it-- at first telling her they couldn't do it. It took the lady 30 minutes to get the coffee. We got our order right after she got it. Crazy. There was a nice younger guy with braids who helped us finally get our order after I had asked about it. He was probably the only one I felt seemed like they were at work. French toast was delicious but what is this omelet?? It took 30 minutes for this?! I wouldn't even call it an omelet. My husband and I have 20+ years of restaurant experience so we are usually pretty understanding but this was just a disaster. Very bad experience overall. read more

Today I thought to try the pastrami sandwich AND I LOVE PASTRAMI, but this item was a huge disappointment. *Pastrami Sandwich: if you ask for wheat, they give you regular sandwich bread, pastrami, cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, red onion, and mayonnaise-type condiment. With these ingredients, the pastrami is practically non-existent. I had to deconstruct my sandwich until I "liked" it, and it just failed. Kneader's has gone downhill in a dramatic fashion. The last three visits have been enough for me to possibly test other locations or give up on them completely. The last two times were web orders. There were items not in stock but nobody ever notified us that there was a problem. They waited until we arrived at our pickup time to inform us of the outage and that they could substitute something different. Three major problems with that approach. #1 I arrived at the designated pickup time yet the order preparation had not even started. #2 They were out of Roast Beef. Two of our four items had Roast Beef as an ingredient. Half of the order (2 of 4 items) could not be made as ordered yet they waited until our arrival to let us know. #3 Part of an online order requires you t give a contact number. Since they had a mobile number to call why was no contact made to rectify the order? They waited for our arrival before informing of the issue. Extremely poor customer service. How was the lack of Roast Beef a problem? One sandwich was a French Dip so that could not be made at all. The other was a Club sandwich so they offered to simply add more of the other meats. We selected a substitution for the French Dip and then they began making the order. Interestingly, there was another customer in the store waiting for service but nobody acknowledged her. She was commenting that this was not the first problem for her either. She eventually left to try the Drive Thru where she hoped she would not be ignored. I hope that worked out for her. Eventually we got our order and headed home to eat thinking the issues were over. One of the items was a Berry Pecan salad. What we received was a Turkey Bacon Avocado salad. So now we are sitting with a miss on three of our four items. How badly can you mess up an order of four items so badly? Kneader's just so you know this is a legit complaint our order number was 18116120955404290. The order was placed at 7:30PM, closing time is 10PM so this was not simply an issue where we arrived at closing time nor was this in the middle of their dinner rush. The only saving grace here is that the food is fine. It is soup, salad, and sandwiches so I am not expecting a gourmet experience, however, I do expect to get the order I placed. We have been sitting here waiting for our order for more than 40 minutes. There are 15 tables in this restaurant full of families without meals. The drive through line is moving swiftly, so apparently they're only cooking driver through orders and making diners wait until there's a break in drive thru. Will never eat here again. I have driven past this place so many times but never had I stopped in. I was nearby Saturday so I finally made it in for some food! It was 9:30am and it was pretty busy. We stood in line behind two other groups and so we had more then enough time to look over the menu. The people ahead of us were having some issues ordering, so we were finally helped by another employee who had seen we had been standing there for a while. We decided to order a turkey bacon and avocado sandwich with a cup of the broccoli cheddar soup ($8.99) and a Southwest bbq chicken salad for $5.99 (a small salad) and one regular drink for $20. The food?! Wow!!!! So good. My sandwich was amazing! The bread was so fluffy and spongey! My broccoli soup was great, I wish I would've ordered a bigger size. The salad was mind blowing! The dressing and everything mixed together was such a great concoction! We want more! There are plenty of tables inside and outside as well with shade! They also have bigger tables for big groups inside. The inside decor is so cute and they also sell little gifts and home decor, but it can be a tad bit too pricey.. the drive thru was crazy busy the whole time we were there.. Customer service could definitely improve. They were not having it on this day... grumpy, unfriendly, and looking miserable.. :( 5 stars for the great tasting food but down to three stars because the employees could do better. read more

Just a suggestion, if one of your payment systems is down, you should probably let people know before they order instead of having them wait in line for their food for 15 minutes and then taking their food back because Apple Pay is not working. I live within walking distance of this location so I frequently stop by and grab something but, honestly lately things have been disappointing and tonight have been a giant disappointment. I grabbed a half sandwich for myself the veggie one it comes with avocado the gal said thru the drive thru speaker (I wanted soup but here it was 30 minutes before they were going to close and she said they had already put it all away!) I got this crappy sandwich with nothing good on it!! Literally a bite of avocado big enough for a baby bird :( look at the picture. That's pathetic. My son got a ham sandwich and it was dry and not good either. Whatever. If I could give this a zero I would. Came here for lunch and ordered a soup in a bread bowl and a tuna melt. As we went to sit down there were crumbs and smears on All the tables. We told cashier the table is dirty so she came over to wipe it- I informed her the two tables in front of her were dirty, she wiped only one and walked away. We got the soup bowl after about 5 minutes and the soup was luke warm, but we did not complain... ate it because the taste was good. About 10 minutes later the tuna melt arrived. Sourdough was not toasted- there was no cheese in it and it was nothing like the picture of their cheese melt on their menu. It was slightly warm, soft, untoasted and moist bread . Not at all appetizing. Upon letting cashier know the tuna melt was not a "tuna melt"- her response was 'we are just humans". ( that was said multiple times) She clearly was Unable to say I'm sorry or give any form of empathy. I was told , 'sourdough just takes longer'. I did not want another -as our other meal was finished. The manager had no words of apology either..He stuck his fingers on the sandwich and shrugged as he explained how refund works . He provided refund for the sandwich and a drink which was a fine resolution. While we finished our drinks a gal from the back came out and apologized and offered to get us a pastry or something- which we declined- but it was a kind gesture and the customer service level one would expect. This Kneader's Bakery and Cafe does not value their customers let alone their repeat customers. If you order delivery from here and they forget something significant from your order, they do not make an effort to send it with another driver because they don't think about the person who does have their food, they only will return your money or make you use your gas to come pick it up which defeats the purpose of having your food delivered. When I said just refund my money and I won't do business with you again, the woman said, Great you should receive your refund in 5 to 7 business days. She said Great when I said I won't do business with them, that shows how little they value their customers. read more

It is my own fault for coming back again, but this is the third time in a row that they got the majority of my order wrong. I ordered two kids grilled cheese meals and a sandwich. Got two ham & cheese kids meals and a sandwich with no ingredients except the two I requested off the order. Every time they get it 3/4 incorrect & it takes 30 minutes past the designated pick up time. They did remake my order. But, they said over the phone the order was entered again and to come back. After I got to the window they took my payment and I waited for another 5 minutes while the guy was just standing in the window. He finally went to go get my pastry then came back to tell me they were out of it. I asked for a refund on the card I just used to pay and he said he couldn't do that and could only give me cash? I feel like I could write essays about Kneaders with the number of times I've been here (both in Utah and Arizona) but I'll try to keep it concise. If you come here for breakfast, get the french toast. Also, be prepared to consume a ton of calories. They make their french toast on a chunky cinnamon bread which is essentially cinnamon roll bread - frosting and all - and then top it with strawberries, cream, and a homemade syrup. And it's amazing. You'll love every bite, and regret it afterwards. I wouldn't know about their other breakfast dishes (there are few) because this one is so good I've never felt the need to try anything else. You can buy the chunky cinnamon bread in loaves as well, but I kind of think that adds insult to injury so I've personally never bothered taking a loaf home. For lunch there's a few things I love most, but I've come with a variety of people and everyone orders something different. As far as I know, no one has been disappointed by what they've tried. I personally love the turkey and artichoke panini on the asiago cheese bread. This is one of the only places I'll get artichoke on something, and that combined with the sauce they use on it and the bread itself is just superb. They have a huge variety of breads to choose from (this is a bakery after all) and all the ones I've had so far have been great, though my favorites are the asiago cheese and the country sourdough. Recently they also started serving a southwest bbq chicken salad which is my new favorite item. The chicken is always cooked perfectly and again, their sauces are fantastic. If you still have room, they have a plethora of different pastries and other goodies you can get after your meal. In the fall they have pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, which are a must buy. The rest of the year I really love their sugar cookies and cream cheese brownies. Yum! The service can be a little slow but overall it's a fantastic place I'm sure I'll frequent for years to come. read more
