I do not recommend Knockout Carpet Cleaning. They steam-cleaned my are rug without vacuuming first, causing all the hair and dirt to soak in rather than being removed. After they "cleaned" it, I vacuumed and pulled up a layer of hair and dirt as seen in the photo - proving it was never properly prepped. When I asked if they had vacuumed beforehand, they claimed the hair "wasn't visible to the naked eye," yet it was clearly visible. They also knew I had a dog so dog hair should be something they think about. They seemed rushed, which pressured me into paying before I could fully check their work. When I reached out, they initially offered a $50 refund or to come back to only get the hair off, but when I asked if they would redo the entire rug properly, they stopped responding. On top of that, their hose scuffed my brand-new baseboard, which had just been touched up a few days prior. I had to do my own vacuuming, re-clean the rug, and now cover the cost of the baseboard touch-up--all of which should have been reflected in a proper refund. As of now I have no refund. To make matters worse, they wouldn't confirm whether they vacuumed my couch before steam-cleaning. Their excuse? That I should have told them to vacuum first - which should be standard practice. Any professional knows that steam-cleaning over dirt can lead to mold growth. Now, I'll have to replace my rug sooner than expected. I expected professional, thorough service, and instead, I got rushed work, damage to my home, and zero accountability. Avoid this company. read more

Liked this service. Cliff was on time (within half hour window) and provided the carpet cleaning as described at a very reasonable rate. They also work on Sundays which is a huge plus in San Diego (about 95% of the businesses are closed). Honored Yelp voucher and was very pleasant in provision of service. Their rate was the #1 priority for me as well as the sq ft that the price covers, since it was an investment home. The carpet looked really bad (to the pt where I considered replacing it), but he was able to clean it to what I consider 'good condition' in 1 shot (20 mins for a 225 sq ft room). I maybe would've liked to see if it could get any better with another once-over, but I've heard you can't wet the carpet too many times. In any event, I was happy with the end result at the price point that I paid (stairs were extra that I was hoping to have covered since it's part of the room, but I understand it's harder). This session was supposed to include scotchgarding service as well. I am not convinced that he actually completed that service. We were so pleased with Knockout and Eric when we had our carpets cleaned last year. We found Knockout on Yelp and we were impressed by the good reviews; however, when we scheduled Knockout in March, it was very disappointing. First, there was grumbling about the agreed on price. The house was totally empty, so no furniture to move...did that mean more to clean and that is why he was unhappy with the agreed upon price? His attitude seemed to be just get it done...and get out of here--stains and furniture indentations were still visible and they just could not be bothered with trying to please us. I contracted Eric with Knockout to clean the carpets in my townhouse after my tenants moved out. They had lived there for 5 years and had a dog, and I think with a rented DIY carpet shampooing machine b/c the place had a humid, musty smell when I entered and the carpet was still damp (a day after they moved!). Despite their effort the carpet was dark and dingy and though initially I did not see any stains, after about two days stains started showing up (I suppose the shampooing hides them for a short time). The carpet did not look worn anywhere, but it looked so dirty that I figured that I would have to replace it in order to get new tenants in. But on a friend's recommendation, I searched for a professional carpet cleaner and found Eric with Knockout. He was on-time, professional and really had lots of recommendations for me on how to keep the carpet looking great. He spent several hours working, and when he was done the carpet was dry, the humid/musty smell that the previous tenants had left was gone, the carpet was perfectly vacuumed and it looked fantastic. So my initial reaction was "great...but let's see if I don't see stains coming up in a day or two". It's been two weeks and still nothing but very clean carpet. I've even decided to contract Eric to clean the carpets in my own home, and will for sure call him again to keep my rental property's carpets looking great. His price was extremely reasonable given the amount of time he spent working and how he left the carpet. We've had these carpets cleaned once before (by a different company) and, even though the result looked ok, we could tell that it was not the greatest service based on the color of our (previously) white socks after walking around for a couple of minutes the day after the service was done. So this time we did some research and ended up calling Eric, based on the great Yelp review below. My husband and I were very encouraged by the "no hidden fees" (unfortunately so common with other companies). We described the place on the phone, got an estimate (the same we got on their website) and, when the service was done, he charged us that amount minus 10% (the discount for first-time costumers). When quoting, his price might not seem the cheapest, but you are sure that the price quoted will be what you'll really pay (unlike other companies that offer a great deal to later on mention that the price doesn't include stain removal, vacuuming and a lot of fees - so you end up paying more and feeling fooled). Eric is as nice as can be. Besides doing a great job with the carpets, he used his super vacuum cleaner on an area rug and also gave us some suggestions of good vacuum cleaners and tips for cleaning spots (we have a dog), so we can keep the carpets clean for longer before having to hire him again (!!!!) After drying, the carpets feel fluffier and so soft to walk on. Of course, I put some white socks on to walk around - just for the pleasure of it - and they were still white when I removed them a couple of hours later. First of all, let me state clearly that the off-white carpets in the house I'm renting had quite a few dark stains and gray traffic areas where people traipsed in and out of the house. All are now gone and the carpets house-wide are a uniform color without a lingering hint of a stain. Eric, the business owner, did the job himself and took the time to explain to me the process he was using throughout the 2.5 hours he was here. So, yes, I am very happy with the results of the cleaning process. What REALLY sold me on Eric and Knockout, however, was his attitude and business policy before he even pulled his van into the driveway. I called Eric midweek to ask about his cleaning approach and get an idea of price. He explained that he used an oxygenation process like other services, and that it was very effective on almost all discolored areas. Unlike at least one competitor I spoke with prior to Eric, he was happy to stand by an online estimate, which I got from the calculator on his Web site. He also gave me a 10 percent discount for using the online tools. I simply entered the number of rooms, stairs and other open areas, and the calculator generated an estimate that Eric honored. A previous call to another service got me, "Oh, we'll have to come out and measure the rooms to give you an accurate quote." Um, no you won't. Eric was simply amazing. Frankly, I am still stunned that he was able to get out stains that had been in my carpets for years! I had simply given up on those sections of our very old carpet in our kids' rooms. However, Eric saw them as a challenge! He even asked specifically what kind of carpet it was because he uses different equipment for different types. The rest of our house has carpet that is relatively new (about 4 years) but it really needed a good cleaning due to our dog, kids etc. It now looks gorgeous! And the best part? We walked through the house and after his advice I decided I didn't need to clean some of the rooms. That actually brought the price down a tier but he didn't seem to mind. He did offer a few upgrades but wasn't hard selling me, he was just letting me know what other services were available should I want them. I declined them and that was that. This guy goes by several different names I later found out. When I caught him his name was Cliff. He kept saying how "used" to work for Stanley Steamer, like that had any bearing on his performance. I overestimated my square footage for a price quote. He actually was a little higher than other companies but I got along with him so I decided to move forward. When he arrived right off the bat he kept saying how my place was so much larger than he expected. He then increased his price by $50. I showed him the door and while walking him out I noticed his older van, which earlier he kept saying how new his equipment was. Long story short D-Mac Restoration cleaned my carpets. We've used Knockout 3 or 4 times over the last couple of years, and they had always done a good job. I'm not sure what happened this time, but we definitely won't be calling again. I called and talked to Cliff about cleaning the new house we were moving into, and the townhome we were moving out of. The guy who showed up at the new house looked like he just rolled out of bed, but did an acceptable job on the already pretty clean carpet. The guy who showed up at the old place was almost 2 hours late. When he did show up, he seemed frantic and smelled awful. He actually smashed small holes in the walls going up the steps from slamming the brush into them. He left some small spots of cat puke that had been under the bed (which I later cleaned easily with soap and water). He also scratched the corners of the walls up so bad that my husband spent a full day painting them before the new people moved in. We were so pleased with the service we received. I called serveral cleaning services last minute yesterday afternoon when our roommate moved out.
