The brisket tacos were good, the pear and prosciutto flatbread was really sweet and my husband could only eat a couple of pieces and the server never asked if he wanted something else or if he wanted a box. There was a great drink selection. The views are beautiful, however the service will prevent me from returning. We felt rushed the entire time we were here and the original dish I ordered the kitchen ran out of. Our server dropped off our bill and as soon as she returned we tried to get dessert but we were informed that the kitchen closed "15 minutes ago" (9:30). Ordinarily I would understand but we came specifically to see a band that didn't start until 10pm, so it would have been nice to know if there was a last call for the kitchen. Just attempted to call ahead for a party of 10 to be split with 2 tables of 5 for COVID reasons and was told they would not accept us now that they "know" we are a party of 10. We didn't even mind if we sat separated from one another! I am entertaining guests from a large corporation and wanted to show them the beauty of the lake. I asked to speak with the manager after talking with whoever answered the phone, and was rudely explained the Covid policy despite stating we would call and make 2 separate reservations for 5 people! We have always liked this place, mainly for the shrimp in a kone. They don't carry it any more. A member of our party ordered a glass of Chardonnay and it was very sweet, may have been a mispour. She asked to have it replaced and the manager sent the waitress out to tell us we would have to pay for another glass. It was tacky, first of all to charge for it but mostly to make the waitress convey the message. The food was good. Might go back, not sure. read more

We found this establishment within 3 weeks of its opening in 2007 and were skeptical at 1st because of the wine bar . My son and mother LOVED the place, ESPECIALLY the FIsh & Chips. Very good value. We sat outside on the deck which is right on the water. I got an iced tea but there are beers from all over the world. I ordered the Buffalo chicken wrap and fries. The wrap was awesome but the fries were the best I've ever had. My wife ordered mahi-mahi tacos and said the portion was quite generous and it was delicious. This is always one of our favorite Leelanau spots, but especially this time of year sitting on the outdoor balcony watching the sun set over Omena Bay. My wife had the perch cone, a generous portion of perhaps the best fried perch on the peninsula. I had the newly-added Knot a Salmon Burger, which is a nice filet of salmon on a toasted bun. Dylan was especially attentive as our server, and our waits were minimal even though they were busy. read more

It's Knot a Friendly Place Either My in-laws live in Suttons Bay so we thought we would take them here for a nice lunch on the patio. Even though it was the Sunday before Memorial day it was not that busy - probably because we got there at 2:00 pm. We walked in and there were 3 open tables on the patio. They were Not reserved. When we asked to sit at one of the patio tables, the hostess told us they were being left open for parties of 5 and because we were only a party of 4, they would not let us sit outside. They said this despite the fact that there were not one but 3 open tables on the patio and it was already 2:00 pm. My in-laws are both 81 years old and move slow but they could care less - they would have preferred them standing around for an hour waiting for a table. Needless to say, the attitude of the hostess and servers was very unreasonable and inflexible. We also talked to the manager but she gave us the same answer. The attitude we got here was like they were doing us a favor for just being open and if we didn't like it, then we should leave. And that's exactly what we did - we quickly left. I'm guessing that the owner was not around or maybe the owner could care less and gets more than enough business to be concerned with unhappy customers. People come here for the view and pretty much the view only. The food is ok - average at best. We ended up driving a short distance to Northport and having lunch at a new place called Tuckers. They have an outdoor patio. Another option would have been to drive back to Suttons Bay and have a nice lunch there. We will Knot be coming back to Knot Just a Bar. read more

I first ate there very soon after the Omena location opened, so maybe they were still working out the kinks. But what I had that day was probably the worst meal I have ever been served. It was a blustery winter day, so the Turkey Pot Pie sounded just about perfect, the ideal comfort food to eat while watching the snow squalls and whitecaps out on beautiful Omena Bay. Their turkey pot pie, though, was horrifying. Imagine a large bowl filled to the brim with some sort of orange liquid, topped by 4 burned Pillsbury Grands (OK, probably Gordon Food Service) biscuits floating on top. I'm an adventurous diner, so I gave it a try. I hate to say this, but the bitter, revolting taste brought only one thing to mind - vomit. When the waitress checked back, I had to admit that I found it inedible and she acknowledged that it was indeed quite a unique interpretation of turkey pot pie that a lot of people didn't like. Count me on that list! We've been back one other time, only to join a group of friends. I had fish and chips. Although quite bland, at least It was edible. The location is absolutely superb so they'll probably do quite well serving even sub-par food. But if a good meal takes priority over great views, you'll do well to pass up "The Knot". read more

So sad, this used to be our go to place, fantastic view, always had really good food. But it's really gone down hill this summer, owners have not been seen since the spring. Hamburger ordered medium was cooked to a pulp! White fish sandwich, huge bun and maybe 3ozs. of fish. Service and wait staff still good. David or Amanda need to be around to bring the quality back to where it was. We'll give it some time and hope for the best. read more

Zero stars, Horrible experience! Not surprised that the psycho Mgr/host has been mentioned in 3 of the last 7 reviews, our family of 6 didn't even sit down before this psycho chased us out... My wife put our name in for party of 6, they say 15-30mins, no problem and no mention of any rule about whole party needs to be standing at host stand before they will seat you. I sat at the bar, had a drink, and let crazy mgr/host guy know I was the party of 6 and I would be sitting alone at the bar as my wife is wine tasting next door. 15 mins later he calls my name, table is ready. I wave to him to let him know I am cashing out at the bar, he acknowledges. I cash out, give up my bar stool in the full bar, and approach the host stand. Crazy mgr says with his crap attitude "I can't seat you until your whole party is here", I say ok, (would have been nice to know that before, but ok), I look back and my bar stool is now taken. Would have been nice for him to take 5 steps over to the bar and tell me that since he knows I'm alone, but my wife is next door and kids will be here in a few mins with their grandparents. I wait, he calls another party and seats them as I'm standing holding my drink, I see my table is sitting vacant on the patio. My wife walks up, hands full, holding a bag with 3 bottles of wine from next door, he ignores us and calls/seats another table while we wait. He comes back and continues to ignore us, as our table remains vacant on the patio. We are a bit annoyed, but acting totally nice. I nicely ask "are you really not going to let us sit at the table right there until my kids are standing in front of you"? (as my wife and I stand there hands full). My wife adds "nobody mentioned our whole party needed to be here to be seated when we put our name in or we would've made sure they were here". Crazy mgr host does not even try to be nice, just goes off on us about how rude we're being for asking to be seated. Keep in mind I have been calm and nice the entire time and any sign of a nice explanation from him would have been enough for us, but now he's aggressively and angrily talking at my wife and calling us rude. Needless to say I get in his face and tell him not to talk to my wife that way, and he threatens to call the police on me! What fantastic customer service! This guy shouldn't be providing customer service at a prison let alone a restaurant. We took the high road before things get out of hand and simply told him we will never be back. We've been to the knot several times over the years and this guy and his crap attitude have been there for years, food is not good but view is nice. Kind of unbelievable this guy still has a job, considering evidently lots of people continue to have problems with him, and the food stinks... The rest of the staff seems nice read more

Group of six, terrible service, mediocre food. We waited at least 10-12 minutes just to get a server at our table. The kid that was our server was either new or just completely clueless. The soup was cold and the steak was gray-- which usually means it was FROZEN! The view isn't bad but there are far better places to stop than this place. read more

A regular stop for dinner while we're in Michigan for the summer. Great view over one of the prettiest bays in the area. Kids love the serve-yourself popcorn from the popcorn machine. The first time we went I wasn't expecting much so I was pleasantly surprised. Great summer salad (spinach, cherries, goat cheese, grilled chicken and candied nuts) and so many great beers to choose from. Fried macaroni bites were good with beer but would have been better with panko instead of batter...had good slightly spicy dip. Mahi fish taco was very good. Next trip not as impressed. Steak was not special at all though it was cooked appropriately. They sliced it which dried it out. Fish and chips cone was average. The service and view are excellent. read more

Our server was Caleb. He was very friendly when he came to our table and all throughout our meal. He was fun to talk to and told us interesting things about beautiful leelanau county. Our service was great and timely. He made sure we had everything we needed. Our dinners were very tasty. The Greek salmon salad was delicious and the salmon was Cooked to perfection. Been here several times before in the last 10 years, service has never been a strong point but the location on the bay and the wine tasting next door is hard to resist not coming in here. This last experience on a Tuesday evening was by far the worst for us. I'm not going to knock a server/manager who was having a bad day but Sara should have stayed home Tuesday night. It wasn't her fault that everything we ordered at the bar was "out" but she was annoyed with us just for coming up to the bar to order a drink! We were all on vacation and in great moods and she completely made us feel like we should have gone somewhere else. Not sure why, none of us had even had a sip of alcohol yet. I still love the view and the place itself but the miserable service, long wait times and so many out of stock things really made for an unpleasant visit. :-( read more

The outside patio is gorgeous. The service was incredibly slow and there was not a customer base there to justify it. Our server never checked on us after dropping off our entrees and we were hoping for drink refills. The food is average. Nothing was terrible but there was nothing we'd ever find ourselves craving again. We ordered the steak bites. My husband had the fish cone and I had the shrimp pasta with a Cajun cream sauce. The horseradish sauce for the steak bites had no flavor. Neither did the cream sauce for the shrimp. There's a seasoning problem here. Then we ordered dessert. The cherry crisp is clearly microwaved before serving because it is soggy and we had the s'mores thing that was ridiculously hot. It is served hot in a cast iron pan and it is BOILING. It is like napalm. This tempers the chocolate so the dessert hardens in the pan by the time it cools enough to eat. Great theory, terrible execution. We were going to order drinks but because it took 20 minutes for two diet Cokes and 45 minutes for the appetizer, we gave up the idea. read more

Awesome place to stop by after you visit the Leenelau cellars winery, which is next door. My boyfriend and me went there 2 days in a row. The food we had was very good. the pasta and fish there was delicious. if you can and weather is nice go and sit on their patio. the view is amazing. Cant beat good food and great food at same place. They also have great tartar with the fish. The service seemed fine to me. Actually the second time we went there it was a bit chilly and we were sitting outside and the server noticed that i was chilly and she offered to barrow her sweater, which i thought was nice of her. read more
