Sadly, we have to adjust our review for Ryan and his team. We trusted that Ryan would do an excellent job, so we reached out to him when we decided to update the kitchen cabinets in our new home. When he initially sent us the plans from the measurements he took at our home my husband noticed very quickly that they were way off by at least 20 inches. If they proceeded with the way Ryan measured the upper cabinets wouldn't have fit at all and he would've had to remake the entire thing. On the day of install I was not happy with the color difference between the sample stain piece we picked and the color the lower cabinets turned out. They were darker and had a yellow hue to them. See photo. As you can tell by the photo the small sample piece was much different. Additionally, the upper cabinets had a much more neutral tone to them. This is what I wanted for all the cabinets. My husband talked me out of mentioning my disappointment in the cabinet fronts to Ryan and assured me it was fine enough. The real problem happened when some of the cabinet doors didn't fit right during the install and they had to remake them. There were two larger cabinet doors that were measurement errors on their end and three smaller doors that I wasn't happy with because the reveal was much too large between doors. Ryan wasn't happy about remaking the 3 smaller doors and made it known to me. I told him we would pay for it. Ultimately he didn't charge us, which we appreciated, however, I think he could've been kinder about the way he approached it when I said I wanted them remade. When they arrived with the replacement doors we were shocked at how different they looked than the rest of the lower cabinets. See photos. Initially he told us all wood grain is different and that's just the way it is. We are fully aware wood grain can be different and we're willing to accept this with our lower cabinets not matching our uppers, but with the cabinet doors being right next to each other the tone difference looked ridiculous. It honestly looked like a showroom cabinet with sample stains. He reluctantly agreed to remake them. At this point we thought he'd take extra care to select a veneer that would closely resemble the original doors. Sadly this did not happen. The installer showed up weeks later to install the replacement doors and they are a different tone than the original doors. At this point Ryan is offering no solution. He refuses to come look at the doors in person and the last text we received from him was unprofessional. We paid top dollar for this project & the quality and customer service Ryan provided is really upsetting. Now we have to hire someone else to fix a problem Ryan should have the decency to make right. Sadly, we can no longer recommend this business. read more

We were finally able to start the project in 12/2022 and he honored the original quote. We had received quotes from three places and selected this company based on quality and professionalism. It's sad to see all of the positive prior reviews up until lately. Ryan came across as very professional until he got the job. His promises and agreements went out the window and he immediately starting blaming us every time we pointed out a mistake in the cabinetry he was building. This was surprising to me because he was referred to me by a well known local designer (who will no longer be using Ryan because of this experience). We would have to pull out the plans that we all agreed to when he refused to correct the work of guys. All of his excuses were issues he agreed to when he accepted the job. His custom guy Chris quit towards the end of the job and so Ryan decided he would use that as an excuse to quit the job with several unfinished cabinets. Not only that but the cabinet maker I hired to finish the job discovered that Ryan was using MDF in my bathroom that was not waterproof. He explained to me that this material would expand and crack with humidity from the bathroom. I had to pay him not only to finish the job but to buy proper materials. read more

Please we careful on hiring this company to do your kitchen not only does Ryan doesn't do as per contact but his installation is horrible. We hired him to do our kitchen cabinets, per the contract the kitchen cabinets were supposed to be maple but recently we leaned that he did not use maple he used MDF with maple veneers. Ryan Installed the cabinets so poorly that We are having a hard time finding someone to fix his mess because the cabinets are not straight and the reveal above is so uneven. After the attempt to install the cabinets, we noticed all the imperfections and bad installation, my husband tried to talk to Ryan in a respectful manner but Ryan right away got defensive and his short temper kicked in. We asked him to either hire someone to fix the issue or we will hire someone that can install them right and finish his mess but he decided to part ways from the job because he didn't hire others to do this job. This job was not cheap so be aware his price is average but his quality of work is below average. I regret going with him and I hope karma gets him. Multiple time repeat client! This time, we had Ryan build two custom vanities for a remodel project. They are absolutely fantastic. First vanity: The bathroom was a very small space, and the layout only worked if we had a rather narrow vanity (16" deep) to squeeze behind the inswing of the bathroom door. So it required custom work, and Ryan absolutely nailed it. It is a walnut vanity with inset doors/drawers and flush handles. We love it. The most stunning part: the solid walnut vanity top. We had initially planned to use stone fabricated by someone else, but that didn't quite work out. I'm honestly glad it didn't. Very last minute, we asked Ryan if he could build the vanity top out of matching wood. He built it so quick, the hole for the sink was perfect, and installed everything so fast. He really went out of his way to make things work on our schedule. And the walnut top is absolutely amazing. I had never thought about using a wood counter in the bathroom due to fear of moisture issues and the glossy effect that highly water resistant finishes add. But Ryan researched and found an excellent finish that is very watertight and also quite a beautiful matte effect. This piece is what makes the whole bathroom work! Thanks, Ryan! Second vanity: We had a general design we liked from the Kohler vanity line. So we used that as a sort of template, and he built something even more beautiful that matches all the rest of our designs. I don't know where all these good reviews come from for such an irresponsible team. I woke up my two little kid and baby early in the morning and drove them for over an hour to meet him at our new home for bathroom cabinet and makeup vanity and walk-in closet. He took rough measurements, and very rough, and told me to give him photos of what we want. I said we want something modern. He said no one wants modern here, modern is only in LA. How judging that is. I asked him if there is any modern design he can show me, he said he doesn't have it and I need to send him the picture. A cabinet maker cannot design? He left shortly after and texted me he couldn't do the work. Why did he come then? To figure out I'm not the right one he can work for? I told him we can work things out, it doesn't have to stick to one kind or one type of materials. We are pretty flexible. And this is how he treats his clients? I wouldn't go with them anyway because I won't hire anyone such irresponsible. I don't believe an irresponsible team is willing to take care of their clients or do good work. I was looking for someone to come and build a desk for my son and I. I came across Knotty Nuff Wood and Ryan. I'm always skeptical, as I'm sure most of us are, of online reviews and hiring strangers to come into our homes to perform any sort of work. I spoke to several different people in my search to find the right one to build our custom desk. After speaking with Ryan, he offered to come to the house, meet and discuss designs and costs. As a single, working father who is also "design challenged" Ryan not only made me comfortable with hiring him but equally he designed what he thought would be the perfect desk for my 7-year-old and myself all on his own. He ran the ideas by us, he incorporated my son into the process and blew us away. My son, who only asked Ryan for "fun" as part of the design, which clearly was super helpful and a lot for Ryan to work with, has been super excited working at his new desk. Ryan incorporated blue lapis (it's a Minecraft thing) inlays and centerpiece into my son's side of the desk along with a crystal display cabinet for my son's growing collection. Furthermore, he spent the time building removable pieces of color matched wood for under his side of the desk, as research shows working with your feet on the ground (again, my son is 7 and can't reach the ground from a normal sized desk chair), so that as he grows up, I remove one plank at a time to fit his growing legs. Like I started with, having strangers in your home is always worrying but Ryan and his dad Tom were not only amazing to have around, but joined us for lunch and laughed with us which was awesome! It would be one thing to write this review in hopes you all read it and hire Ryan for your own projects, but another for me to take it a step further... I hired Ryan to build a desk for my son and I, but I was so impressed with him as a person and the amazing quality of his work that he's already done a second home office in my house, redid our guest room with a beautiful murphy bed hidden inside of beautiful cabinetry, along with a maker studio where he hid our home printer, 3d printer, and laser cutter. That way the room is clean, zero wires and there is no technology you can see, but open up the cabinets, or underneath the bench in front of the bay window. As a testament to the quality of Ryan's work and who he is as a person, all of a sudden, my son is into building stuff out of wood. Having just completed his first project which is a jellybean dispenser and he's now onto building a birdhouse. Ryan is nothing short of amazing, I can't say enough about him, the quality of his process and the ultimate satisfaction of the new furniture he built and designed for us. We were so happy with the work that when it came time to remodel our kitchen we reached out to Ryan for a quote. I got a bunch of other bids, but felt most comfortable with Ryan. In fact, some said my design could not be done but Ryan proved them wrong. The project took about 4 days to complete and Ryan was at my house working hard while I went off to work each day - each day I came home everything was neat and tidy.
