Terrible. Just terrible. Fries were the worst I've ever had. Got the bacon cheeseburger. The bacon was just nasty brown, the meat was dry, the cheese was nasty 20 cent Kraft yellow cheese, the lettuce was just a huge chunk of lettuce (didn't even bother to cut it), and it was just the worst burger I've had in a while. Insane how much they charge for their overpriced food. The place is also really dirty just go in the restroom or don't even wonder when was the last time their drink machines got cleaned. It would be a great service to the Irvine community if this place got replaced with a good restaurant. Imagine if there was an actual good American or Korean barbeque place here instead, how much more lively the place would be. read more

This restaurant has been around for a long time! Usually we sit down for lunch, but they also have breakfast foods that I'd like to try out. They're known for their burgers, which have been consistently tasty throughout the years. My family raves about how satisfying they are, and how bomb the ranch dressing is haha. The other menu items are ok. The chili was weirdly sweet and not savory at all. Chicken tenders were small and dry, sadly. Fish tacos were decent and filling. TVs play a bunch of sports games, and a pool table is available to play on for a bit of money. They have a high ceiling and plexiglass between tables, so it feels pretty safe to dine in and hangout here. read more

I'd been driving up and down Sand Canyon for years and noticed this place next to Denny's, but for some reason it never crossed my mind to try it out....till now. My girlfriend and I are still a bit hesitant to eat out these days as not all restaurants adhere to strict safety protocols even though they say they do, but Knowlwoods is the first we've seen that goes above and beyond to ensure your dining safety and comfort. In fact, this is the first dine-in restaurant I have seen that has installed plexiglass partitions at all tables and at the bar counter.....condiments were served in small take-out containers, individually wrapped plastic utensils were provided. So, having taken a look at the breakfast menu outside, we decided we'd give this place a try, and we're glad we did. The portions are generous, the prices very cheap...as compared to other breakfast places in or around Irvine....and the service was excellent. We were taken care of by a very nice young man by the name of Eric who was very professional, friendly, and attentive.....who made sure our whole dining experience was just perfect. For our breakfast orders, I went with a veggie egg white omelet with hash browns and rye toast, while my girlfriend ordered the same omelet with regular eggs and a side of fruit. Yum....everything was done just right...fresh ingredients, food served hot, and d'lish....not too salty at all, just the way we like and wanted it. The hash browns were very good with just the right amount of golden crisp on the outside and soft and fluffy potato on the inside. Oh! And what really impressed us was that the plates were heated so that our food didn't get cold fast. I can imagine during normal times that this place, with it's sports bar themed barn house decor would be a popular place for people to come enjoy good food, a cold one, and gazing at the numerous large flat screen TVs all around. This is a great place to have a team meal. There were about 12 of us in our group: parents and kids. We needed to grab some brunch after an early ice hockey game. The girls were hungry and tired. It was difficult to get reservations for a big group. But this place is perfect! No reservations needed. You order on your own, so there's no issue in splitting the bill. They have great options for American and Mexican food. They have kids meals, as well. I like how the kids can enjoy a game of pool, have a nice area to comfortably sit everyone in the team and have a good conversation. There's lots of parking in the area. Quality and portions have got down hill. I've came by 3 times now and all 3 times have been disappointing. I believe they are under new owners which could be the reason why, possibly cutting down on quality and portions. Staff is friendly, food is average, but the tool-shed ambiance was fun, until yesterday, when I entered the restaurant to be confronted with a huge screen projecting Fox News with its characteristic lairs and political propagandists. Yummy burgers very tasty! Came here with my bf, and they had measures in place for Covid friendly seating. The food takes a little longer than your normal fast food joint. This place is an incredible hidden gem! My daughter and I were starving and initially headed to Denny's, but as we walked, we realized we were at the wrong spot. My daughter instantly fell in love with the atmosphere, so we decided to stay. Feeling hungry, we ordered two kids' breakfasts and one side of French toast, assuming that would be plenty. To our surprise, the kids' meals were as large as the adults'! Additionally, we noticed we received two orders of French toast. Unbelievably filthy with a terrible sandwich. I could not believe my eyes when we walked in at 7:15 pm on a Tuesday night, 90% of the tables were dirty and only 2 customers were in the restaurant. Came back to the OC for a youth Soccer tournament and decided to introduce my family to one of my favorite restaurants from my youth. Before coming in i said, "they had the best burger ever." Much to my dismay, the place was horrible, food was way below average in taste, consistency, and warmth. Place was cold in winter. When I pulled up to this place I was really interested to see if the claims of, "world's best hamburger," were true. You know, because there are so many, "world's best hamburger," out there, it has to be a statement that you test every time you hear the claim made. After walking in I was delightfully surprised by the decorations inside. It was all old-timey, but with the neon lights everything felt like it had a modern twist to it. I felt like I was in a diner that pandered to every demographic, and that was refreshing if I'm being completely honest. I ended up ordering the Irish Nachos-because how could I not-and the Frisco Deluxe. Unsurprisingly, the Irish Nachos were absolutely fire. If you don't get the Irish Nachos to share with a hot date, your date may as well just end right then and there. As for the Frisco Deluxe being, "the world's best hamburger," I'm going to have to give it a solid 7/10. The flavor was on point for what it wants to be, but it was by no means the world's greatest. What really draws the burger together is the toasted parmesan bread, now that stuff is to die for! All in all, not a bad place to go on a date or just a night out with the boys. I've been coming to this restaurant for over 30 years, and it's just going downhill... there's a reason the others have closed. Yes, we arrived 30 mins b4 close this time, but the service was initially good until we got our food. We ordered fish and chips: seriously smelly and rubbery, fries stale; irish nachos layered: fries stale, cheese chalky and unmelted, bacon so hard it couldn't be bitten into. We returned the nachos asking them to be melted...meanwhile, the 2 young girls behind the counter were just chatting, the cook cleaning, and an additional female staff cleaning up after a family. About 8:20, a gentleman walked in to order and was told they were closed (not till 8:30). 15 mins had gone by, and we were wondering where our food was to which one of the young girls behind the counter jumped in surprise and realized she'd forgotten that she'd put them under the salamander.... they were returned to us in the exact condition we'd brought them back. Obviously, the salamander had been shut down. We didn't bother asking for a refund as obviously no one with any authority or responsibility was in attendance. After a long run, we are never coming back here. The owner should spend less time putting up ridiculous decor and spend more time on product and staff quality. read more

My boyfriend and I came here before going to the Snoop Dogg concert. This establishment is conveniently located right across from the hotel we stayed at. This place reminds me of Knotts Berry Farm as I believe they featured menu items there. When we came in it was dead empty which can be a good or bad sign. They did not have an appetizing menu and I was not enthused about this place to yelp and my dude could tell. Nothing seemed yummy so I settled on the Irish Loaded Fries and tried the fried Zucchini with a Cranberry Mimosa. Everything was good except the Fried Zucchini was tasteless like it had no taste at all! The fries and the drink filled us up but this place needs a make over. The booths are broken and dirty and everything just seems OLD. They need to vamp it up. Like you can tell when something is Vintage but this is not, it's just old and dirty furniture. The tables were unkept. I'm not sure how long this place can stay in business. I honestly would not dine here again as I was so underwhelmed with this place! It was not bad but convenient.
