In the area for business and a coworker and I made the drive to Laguna Beach. We wanted to grab a bite on our way back towards Whittier. There was lots of traffic and we were hoping to eat and wait out the traffic a bit, but we had already left Laguna Beach. A quick search showed this on our route. Finding it was very easy and it's a nice lil theme concept, very well decorated with a comfortable feel. This is a fast food kind of vibe - you order at the counter, get your food when its called and find seating where you like. They have tables, booths and a nice lil patio out front. I was really hungry and not quite sure what I wanted... Pictures online showed the burgers were big like restaurant style and that's not my preference so I went with a cajun chicken sandwich, no tomato, sauce on the side, an order of sweet potato fries and an order of fried zucchini (had to try it!). Coworker did get the regular burger (not 8oz) and it was a normal thin style burger, so I think the big one must be the 8oz version. My chicken sandwich came out with tomato, no big deal I removed it, it was 2 pieces of chicken and juicy. The bun was not desirable - maybe whole wheat? Overall I did ate everything, but I felt like it was good, not great. Not quite "good fast food" level. That's the main reason for 3 stars versus 5. Everything is priced separate (like no combo meals) so I would've preferred it be great for the price. I had a dessert craving so I did try to order a milkshake to go for the road when we were leaving, sadly they were out of ice cream :( Note to include that service was good. The employee who took our order was friendly and kind. She was patient while I asked questions and made some recommendations which I appreciated. Wow, how have things changed and not for the better. I ordered the fried fish sandwich and and half zucchini sticks. The sandwich bun was burned. I paid $4.69 for half an order of zucchini sticks. Check out the picture to see the sandwich and amount of zucc's I got. My mom ordered a chili size. The beef patty tasted strange, not bad but different. RAT TRAPS IN THE DINING AREA. I'm posting this to create awareness for all of the parent out there with kids playing in the knowlwood dining area. It's astounding to see rat traps in a dining area that is so inviting for kids to play with and observe the things on their walls. My kids including my 2 year old, were playing and looking at the things on the wall when one of them walks up to me and says. Dada there's a rat traps. Me assuming it was one of the many gadgets on the wall said nooooo. There wouldn't. Be a rat trap just chilling on the side of the wall with all of the other gadgets..... well lo and behold a dangerous to children and 2 year olds, RAT TRAP along with Cockroach traps. Suit yourself but as for me and my family this is disgusting, dangerous so we won't be going back that's for sure. read more

I never write review, but this place should be embarrassed to advertise the World best burgers. I tried a burger that has a frozen patty heated on a grill so much of it was not edible, A great burger should be FRESH not frozen beef. The atmosphere is very nice, just needs a detailed cleaning, I ordered fries as well and ate only 50% as the rest were not editable. One of the two cooks wasn't wearing a head covering. I was in the neighborhood at breakfast time and gave it a try. Honestly, the omelette I ordered was just so-so. It had a lot of cheese, which I think spoils an omelette. My family and soccer team has gone here for 10+ years. They have a large menu and we have tried a decent amount. I highly recommend getting the Frisco Deluxe burger. I have had nothing like it and this burger alone is why we continue to go back. Additionally, the fried zucchini and brunch food are good and it is a nice place to bring a large amount of people if needed. If you get fries, ask for them well done! I give it two stars and here's why... Knowlwood is a nostalgic restaurant for most people: my husband use to come here as a child often. It's a memorable place and we were happy to find there was one left standing. We went on a Saturday (7-6-24) evening around 5 pm. Some would say that's dinner time, some would say that's too early for dinner. But we have two little little kids so eating out late isn't in the cards for us. I order on Uber eats so the food can be ready for us by the time we get there, and it was! Upon entering, we don't see any guests. We're the only guests in the entire restaurant. Kinda strange for an American restaurant on a Saturday evening. I grab the food from the girls who are deep into chitchating with each other. We sit down at the clean booth and dive into our food. I bit into the zucchini sticks we ordered only to find raw batter. My husband takes it back to ask them for a new order to which he was greeted with attitude. The girl in the front even asked to see the raw batter like we were lying. They huffed and puffed but remade our order and didn't apologize. When it was done they yelled out "zucchini" on the loud speaker. My husband asked for ranch but the girls first ignored him, then looked at him, finished their conversation, THEN huffed and puffed to give him the ranch like it came out of their pay check. Remember, we were the only ones in the restaurant!! Why have so much attitude? I surely can see why the place would be empty if the customer service is terrible. The burgers we got were decent. They put way too much sauce to where it's all falling apart. The restaurant was clean. (That's were the two stars came from). But honestly, you're better off spending your money at the Denny's next door, or go somewhere else. NORMALIZE returning your food if it's not edible. OH AND THEY BURNT THE ZUCCHINI STICKS the second time around to make a statement. Well here's my statement, Please focus and train your staff on JUST AVERAGE customer service!!! Forgot how good this place was! My friend and I were looking for a place to have breakfast so I suggested Knowlwood. Tania greeted me at the door, saying please have a seat, that they do table service at breakfast. I didn't know that! Friend was late so I ordered for him. Tania pleasantly took the order. Ordered the standard bacon and eggs for my friend. Tania suggested the heuevos rancheros. Great choice! The order came out quickly, my friend hadn't arrived yet so lovely Tania offered to put the breakfast under the heat lamp. The food was great, the service was cheerful, adding to the already unique, rustic atmosphere of this great landmark burger/breakfast place off Sand Canyon in Irvine. Been a fan of Knowlwood for a long time and was disappointed when the Santa Ana and Anaheim Hills location closed. Thankfully, the Irvine restaurant still stands and is the last place to eat the "World's Greatest Burger". Service was prompt and friendly. The dining room was clean and still full of cool things to look at. They do have a patio in the front if you want to enjoy the fresh air while you eat. This place has such a relaxed vibe the need to rush disappears. I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich with fries and the wife ordered the cheeseburger with onion rings. Food was delicious!! Was a bit different in that you order at the counter and they call your number when your food is ready. Prices were pretty good for breakfast. Decor was really cool like eating inside a barn that was decorated very rustic styled. The food was good. I ordered the omelette with egg whites, mushrooms, chorizo, and avocado. My gf ordered the 2 egg breakfast with bacon and hash browns. Food portions were generous and very good for the price. Nothing really out of the ordinary compared to other diners but was very solid. I ordered a turkey burger with grilled onion, bacon, then the usual amenities, sweet potato fries and a drink. The burger was not seasoned at all. Then they put the whole onion on it. Not diced grilled onions, but whole onion halves. And I eqs actually over there for Dennys. J didn't know Knowlwood was open this early and was excited to see that it was. But that burger was so bland. I eqs VERY disappointed. It wasn't the male cooks that I'm used to either. It was older women. The food has been consistently good with most everything on the menu. Friendly staff who quickly get your food out in reasonable time. This place was mediocre at best. Not very clean to start off with and tables were not cleaned off regularly. My husband and I ordered two simple breakfasts and waited over half an hour for our food. Pancakes were not cooked enough and were stodgy. My hash browns were very greasy and had a slight taste of cheese! Not sure why that was unless the oil was old. The cashier said my husband could substitute a pancake for the toast for his breakfast and upon checking the receipt she had charged for the pancake! I grew up going to Knowlwoods with my family on Sundays after church. I loved it. Unfortunately most of the locations are no longer. I am so glad there is still one location in OC. My husband and I went to check out The Randy band this weekend and what fun we had! We danced the night away. This vibe here is casual and laid back. Service was quick and efficient. The food is affordable and tasty. We shared grilled fish tacos, a side salad, onion rings, a mini burger and a bottle of wine. The fish is flaky and great quality. The onion rings are hand breaded. I love the building. The old barn has been converted to fun restaurant with great lighting and a stage. I love all the decor as well. We will definitely be back for another fun night. read more
