The batter is light and the fish is fresh and cooked perfectly! The French fries are hand cut and delicious as well. Since we went with a group, we ordered a pitcher of beer. Now I probably haven't ordered a pitcher in quite some time, but was beyond impressed with the cooling device attached that kept the last pour as cold as the first. I was quite impressed! Really wanted to try the food. I think the waitress was new. I wanted a glass of red wine and said she didn't know if she had that. She went to ask the bartender. I chalked it up to her youth. Okay I ordered a ginger ale, my mom got a beer. We just needed a minute to look over the menu, she couldn't give us any suggestions . The table next to us ordered the seafood stuffed haddock/cod. We watched as the woman received baked haddock with ritz crackers. The manager said sorry that's what they serve they really should change the menu to say there really isn't a seafood topping. Then the cook came to say, sorry there wasn't any stuffing that day. OK? I was going to get fish. So then 15 minutes later still no waitress. So we left. So many restaurants that serve your bar menu in the greater New Bedford area. Do better. Was craving fried seafood so decided to give New Bedford area a try. Decided on this place after checking out a fish market. Walked in and the place was busy. Lost if locals in assuming. I've heard a lot about Mozambique, decided on the shrimp Mozambique and a clam and scallop combo with slaw. I was waiting a really long time for my food to come out. The Mozambique came out first and it looked good. I took a piece of the bread and dipped in into the sauce to try. It was really salty. Next I tried the shrimp and the shrimp was also salty. Combine that with the sauce it was inedible. Maybe a wedge of lemon could have cut down on the saltiness but I doubt it. The clams and scallop was ok. We have tried many menu items here and never had a bad meal with one exception: the clam chowder seems to be canned, no flavor and never once been hot, not much in it and always lukewarm at best. Some specials come w/the chowder or we would never order it. Needs seasoning for sure. You cannot find a better fish & chips anywhere. Hand cut fries and really good coleslaw with it. We always sit in the dining room vs the bar. Never seen/heard any loud noise or bad behavior there but I rather sit in a dining room. Some specials are "gourmet" others down to earth. Great variety from which to choose. Very pleasant wait staff, it is clean there. However, have never sat at a table where the table does not rock back and forth from uneven legs. Fit that! read more

The restaurant is a bit dismal and can use a real makeover. The bar is always crowded with mostly locals. The dining room varies. The bartenders make a decent drink, but are not very fast nor very sociable, at least to non-locals. The food is absolutely atrocious. Their clam chowder, tasteless, and probably canned. Their stuffers are mostly bread and not overly pleasant. Their tips were incredibly grizzly. The beef in the beef stew was inedible. It was so tough and the stew unseasoned. Fresh seafood is always available at this neighborhood restaurant. This is definitely a regular stop for us on a Friday night. Whether it's a lobster roll or seafood platter the food is always a great value and exceptionally good quality . They have daily specials which never disappoint. The place is a dump! My husband and I have been going for years and sadly this past Saturday was the last time we ever step foot in that place. They never recovered after Covid. I got the Thanksgiving wrap with a side of mashed potatoes and everything was so dry and bland. The wrap was hot, but the potatoes were lukewarm and felt like they had been sitting out a while. I don't recommend either of these items. read more

Knuckle Heads is a restaurant that is down near the working wharfs, where you will find a few fish markets! This restaurant was delicious, we all got different food and everyone really enjoyed their meal. I was told it was hit or miss there but all of our meals were good. The fish and chips were good. First of all you get a big portion. The fish was fried a little too much for my liking but the other two people I was with really loved the fish and chips. The fries were delicious and complimented the fish real well. The fish in the fish and chips was delicious. The lobster roll was delicious. I prefer lobster rolls with butter but for a lobster roll with Mayo I enjoyed the lobster roll. The lobster tasted very fresh, which I would expect from a restaurant on the water. The service was horrible. It took 22 minutes for a waitress to even come to our table. She never came by to ask for refills or check in our us to see if we needed anything. We all ordered drinks. Once the drinks came to our table we tried them and immediately sent them back. The drinks tasted terrible. Also, they were running a Limited menu for St. Patrick's day so our choices were limited. We came in with a party of 13 and they accommodated us quickly . The servers and managers were all great . The food was awesome , served hot ,the plates overflowing and had leftovers to take home ! So ... even though the place has been there forever it was actually me & my husband's 1st time getting food from there. We've been there many times to see live bands play but neither of us had ever gotten food from there. Well, tonight was the night. And unfortunately, it was NOT good. Sadly. We ordered potato skins, a large fish & chip, a cheeseburger with just ketchup & mayo on it that came with fries, and the 2 hot dog meal with onion rings instead of fries. K, so we called it in, was told it would be ready in about 15 minutes (which we thought that was kinda fast, but OK). We go there to pick it up, the girl that took care of me was very nice, I paid and was then leaving. We drove down a couple of blocks when my cell phone rang, it was Knuckle Heads, the girl said that they forgot to include our potato skins, so we turn around and picked them up. Now we're home. We open everything up and sorry to say this but most things were dry. From the potato skins to the fish. And it only took us like 5 minutes to drive home. Also, my cheeseburger didn't have ketchup on it, the 2 hot dogs that were supposed to have the works on them had absolutely NOTHING on them, they were literally plain, and the onion rings looked a lot like fries ... want to know why? ... because they WERE fries, no onion rings at all. So there was multiple problems on top of problems with our entire order. And we've heard more than once from people that the food was good there ... well, maybe that was from years ago or they just got lucky cause so many things were not good or completely wrong with our food. Received the worst part of the damn cow with no onions or mushrooms but green peppers ‍. I don't eat green peppers. Steak was ALL FAT and the fries were day old fries. I got delivery. Worst decision ever. I paid for cheese on my burger, and I didn't get it. I did get copious amounts of mayo. The burger was cooked to medium which I requested but wasn't seasoned. And I ordered onion rings (another charge) and got French fries. They're horrible. Soggy and no seasoning. No salt. HORRIBLE. I pray enough people complain that they come to their senses and fix this recipe. I get what you pay for. This time I had the love of my life with me and they truly took care of us with just exceptional food tonight. I had the shrimp and steak dinner, Rebecca had the steak. Both steaks were perfectly cooked and were so tender they were placed in the mouth and just melted away, this was completely unexpected! The shrimp were, as always, just perfect. I will say that not everything ran smoothly but considering this was day one for their return I could not complain too much. Great food! On Thursday's Knuckleheads advertises a "Beef and Brew for Two" for $26.99 (2 sirloin steaks with French fries or baked potato, 2 domestic drafts, 2 bowls of soups or salads, and 2 desserts). My curiousity ran wild and I suggested to my dining companion that we give it a whirl. Within the paperwork it referenced domestic draft. So in my mind the choice between Coors or Bud Light. Our waitress Jessica said that we could have anything on draft. Brownie point #1 Leinekugel Summer Shandy was the choice. Next we ordered salads with blue cheese dressing, steaks and baked potatoes. To our suprise the steaks were about 10 ounces or so not huge and not small with the honorary grill marks. It was tender and the baked potato had all the fixins. Jessica came over to check on us and we were thinking dessert would be a cookie or a cupcake. Jessica gave us the choice between "Carrot Cake, Tiramisu, White chocolate mousse cake, Red Velvet Cake, and a Double chocolate cake. I chose Carrot and my dining companion chose Tiramisu. I was pleasantly suprised with the entire meal and Jessica's service. I will definitely be going back and requesting Jessica. Give Knuckleheads a try. Not much to look at from outside but as they say don't look a gift horse in the mouth. Next up a Tuesday venture for all you can eat ribs for $10.99. read more

Went here for lunch the other day. It's totally a neighborhood/townie bar but that doesn't matter-- the food is good. I had some lobster bisque and coconut shrimp. The lobster bisque was a little sweet for my liking but I just threw in a bunch of pepper and it was great. The coconut shrimp was fantastic and the dipping sauce even better. My boyfriend had fried oysters and fries. The oysters were perfect. You can totally tell their seafood is super fresh. The hand cut french fries were perfectly crunchy. Their slaw was a little too mayonnaise-y but it was still super tasty. They had a decent beer selection too. We will go back for sure. A great little home town favorite with good food at fantastic prices-- no beating that! read more
