One of the best things I like about Fightkore is that I am able to bring my kid most anytime, so we have a fun time together. Although the relaxed atmosphere may not be for everyone, they are a great local gym and a good alternative to the big fitness chains.

It wasn't until coming across Coach Gabe, Coach Ant, Coach Rey and Coach Mya at Rooted Legacy that made me feel comfortable taking on a new skill later in life. Both have decades of experience and still keep their skills sharp by competing. The gym has only been open a year and in that time there have been growing pains but they continue to learn and make the training challenging, educational and fun.

Here are the reasons why I enjoy this gym: The coaches are very experienced, encouraging and personable. They will personally correct your moves so you can improve your techniques. For me, that is what separates them from some other boxing chains around here. Additionally, the coaches switch up the curriculum so you don't get bored! They also do pad works with you in addition to pad work with other gym goers. This is so much better than just punching bags because it is way more dynamic and realistic. I really like the variety of classes here. They don't have too many time slots yet but I like there are Muay Thai classes, pad and bag combination workshops, boxing bootcamps and also Jr Muay Thai classes that my son loves. Did I mention Kids classes are the cutest!? All the coaches offer personal training too so if the timing does not work, you have the option of booking your private time. I highly recommend coach AJ, Joni and Monica! Last but not the least, I like the smaller-size class format so we can all get a good amount of attention from coaches. This review is both personal and not. I worked at this location, and while I have many awful…read moreexperiences I could share, I'll try to keep this balanced. As a member, the gym itself is okay. The space is large, and it has a lot to offer. I continued paying for my membership because I genuinely enjoyed the martial arts classes which, in my opinion, is the entire point of this gym's existence. The machines, however, haven't really changed since they opened. It wasn't until after the 10-year anniversary that they finally brought in some new equipment. Now for the part that's personal: management. I cannot stress this enough my PERSONAL experience with management was awful. I was fired after being late to work because I had just been in a car accident. The operations manager at the time, Hannah Amayo (who has since resigned), made my life miserable. She and Kate Hansen teamed up to fire me, and it absolutely broke me at the time because I truly needed that job after being T-boned on my way home. As for the facility itself: the gym was always dirty, bathrooms were frequently broken (sinks, toilets, blow dryers), and equipment constantly needed repairs that never seemed to happen. Maintenance was almost nonexistent from what I saw. I know management has changed since 2019, but I found this review sitting in my drafts and figured it was finally time to post it. Needless to say, I eventually canceled my membership because why would I pay over $100/month for a gym that isn't properly maintained? Instead of opening new locations, they should at least invest in the ones they already have.
