I absolutely love the Koa Pancake House and make it a point to visit at least a few times every trip to the island, especially when I'm staying at Aulani, the Disney Resort in the Kapolei area. Everything about this place is AMAZING, and it's the perfect spot for a morning breakfast. I really enjoy the corned beef hash, Spam, and their pancakes especially the banana pancake is my personal favorite. The staff are incredibly friendly, and I always enjoy my fresh cup of coffee with my meal. Staff are very fast and efficient if you're in a rush, but I usually like to stick around, relax, and enjoy my coffee while taking in the breakfast. We arrived around 10:30 on a Tuesday and it was pretty busy, but we were able to find a table and peruse the menu until we were ready to order at the counter. We ordered: - Chunky Monkey Full Stack Pancakes -- big portion with a heap of whipped cream on the top. There were plenty of chocolate chips, and they were high quality. Also a good amount of bananas and mac nuts. - Vinha D'Alhos Breakfast Burrito -- really good flavor but a little small. - Breakfast Plate with Portuguese Sausage, Scrambled Eggs and Pancakes -- big portions and the sausage had good flavor. They forgot to bring the short stack but apologized when we reminded them. Total was $51 including tip and drinks. The fried rice looked really good. Next time I want to try that. This is our go to place when headed to a morning at the beach. We call head, our regular order of one Koa breakfast burrito. Has Portuguese Sausage, egg and potato. Its large enough that we split it. Under 8.00. We take it with us and enjoy the views of our favorite little cove. We also take family here when they visit for a sit down with Macadamia Pancakes or order something for the beach. The Kapolei location is my usual choice but once in a while I go to the Waipahu one because there is a Starbucks nearby. The folks are nice at either location! I usually get the trio plate (two scoops rice, two eggs, bacon, pork sausage links and Portuguese sausage) or an omelet. You can choose other starches instead of rice like hash browns, home fried potatoes, or fried rice (extra cost for fried rice). Pancakes are always done perfectly, and you can ask for coconut syrup if you prefer. The staff was very nice and friendly which pains me to give a poor review. The place is a bit older with no restroom within the facilities. The tables and chairs are very dated. We got the steak plate and the trio with banana pancakes and ube pancakes. The banana pancake and the trio came first within maybe 5 minutes after ordering. The steak and ube came 15-20 min after the other items were brought out. And I was giving them the benefit of the doubt since it's a harder dish to make. The fried rice we so burnt. I tried picking apart the burnt pieces but ended up accidentally eating a few mixed in. But the fried rice was not burnt on the trio. I also asked for a medium steak, it was very well done and dry.
