When you are in the Smoky Mountains (NC) you can only eat so much BBQ. I know it is hard to believe, but for me it is true. To our surprise, Kobe Express had some very fresh sushi and very tasty calamari. I have had the opportunity to eat her twice over the last month and I have not be disappointed with the food. With us still being in COVID times, it was not surprising to have everything delivered in to-go containers. Sure hope we will return to table service pre-COVID style. The reason I gave three stars was not the food, but was the service. Our first time eating here was good service, but this last time it seemed like we were bothering the waitress. I guess everyone can have a bad day, but it always makes a more pleasant dining experience when both the patrons and wait staff are happy. Also makes for greater tips!

Pulling up you would never expect such amazing dishes to exit this facility. I'm proof that the food was beyond tasty. Due to Covid-19 it's drive thru only. A lot of the restaurants in the area were closed and we lucked up on this place. I got my food in a timely manner and it was extremely hot and fresh. Trust me guys, the food was exquisite! Just give it a try.

The vegan sushi is fantastic. We gad the dragon veggie and veggie roll. It was amazing.

New restaurant since I had been Cherokee and a welcomed addition to eating options in the area! They have an indoor dining area and a brisk take out business. Teriyaki, grilled and hibachi style dinners and fresh sushi are menu options. I got steak and chicken with broccoli, fried rice and carrots; it was tasty..I left full. My friend had the hibachi chicken and broccoli and she enjoyed it too! Service was friendly and quick and a highlight was that right outside the back foot was a family of elk! Dad, mom and baby....far enough away so as not to be threatened but close enough to take pictures! How cool!

Slow service. They forgot part of our order yesterday. But it was to-go so we just went without. Today I waited so long for another to-go order. Needs more organization. Food was okay.

Sushi was amazing and the hibachi was the best I've had in awhile. It'll stay on our list for when we come to Cherokee.

We also had the drunken noodles and the spicy chicken steamed buns. I will say that the portions feel small for the apps and buns. Entrées are filling. Some of the meat in the drunken noodles were tough, others was nice and soft. Service was good. Ambiance is small and feels quaint, they have a patio outside in the back. 8/10

There are several nearby lots also pay-to-park but some may be free on weekends. Kaizen appears to me to be more akin to an Izakaya than a noodle hosue, where you basically go for drinks and they supply some food to keep things going - it has a more expansive menu than an Izakaya (which tends to be yakitori and sushi) - Kaizen's menu features several noodle dishes which all looked very interesting. We started with the appetizers and ordered some mixed steamed buns and soup. All of the buns that I tried I liked quite a bit - some strong, distinctive flavors. For an entree I ordered the Koji-Cured Ribeye medium-rare - 12 oz sliced ribeye, gai lan, broad bean paste, steamed rice. The steak was cooked perfectly. The service was exceptional - the next night we tried Fin-Two Japanese Ale House across the street - this restaurant was my preference - the flavors seemed more authentic and the quality of the dishes better in my opinion.

We came on a whim and discovered this gem 15 minutes away from Maggie Valley…read more Store is beautiful and clean. We came on a Thursday late afternoon/Early evening and got sat quickly. Waiter was spot on - tended to us quickly to get our drinks. He came and took our order and food came out fairly quickly. The vegetable tempura was great - not greasy and this one had broccoli and eggplant (I dont like eggplants but I am sure someone will.appreciate this). Fried rice - even though it was kids, it was fantastic. It was not oil soaked and the flavor was so clean. Even my picky husband said it taste so good! Rice was not mushy.. it was, excellent! The Chow Hor Fun? I wont lie... I disnt have high hopes as a restaurant in the Carolinas. Boy was I wrong! The noodles were al dente, beautiful mix of all the veggies and protein. Sauce was a little sweet for my taste, so I was able to request for some chilli sauce and was all good. Also, not greasy. I was happy. My husband got the tuna sushi nigiri, tuna roll, salmon nigiri and white tuna. It was really good! Everything was bright and did not smell fishy. Last note - portions are freakin HUGE! Like i ate a third and took the rest' and the container was full. My daighters "kids" fried rice was packed to the brim. Expect left overs, u less your a competitive eater. The price, value and quality, this was def a 5 star - our first and only in our vacation here. Highly recommend - speaking as a Chinese vacationing in the carolinas that was getting desperate for any semblance of chinese food

While I do wish to acknowledge that Watami Sushi And Noodles does have the absolute legal right to deny anyone service; the staff of Watami Sushi And Noodles does not have the legal right to discriminate against anyone and violate anyone's Civil Rights on the basis of race, religion, and/or creed. Around 1:15 p.m. on  Wednesday, May 13, 2026, I entered Watami Sushi And Noodles on 33 South Main Street, Waynesville, North Carolina with the only goal of having lunch. When the hostess saw me, she had a look of absolute shock terror on her face and instead of greeting me with a "Hello" or "Welcome," she immediately tried to get me to just get take out only.  Only after repeatedly stating several times that I didn't want to order take out and that I wanted to dine there, she waved to a host/server who took one look at me and loudly said "OH" before seating me at a small table in the middle of the establishment.  Please note, there were other diners there. None of the staff was friendly or welcoming and rebuffed my attempts at conversation.  The waitress had an angry expression and tone with me, but not with other patrons in the restaurant. I ordered Chicken Teriyaki with a Green Salad and a side of Miso Soup.  Both the Miso Soup and Chicken Teriyaki were lukewarm, boarding on cold.  The Green Salad was crisp and fresh.  I didn't get a chance to finish to soup or the salad because it was taken away post haste once my lunch order had arrived. Now why did the staff of Watami Sushi And Noodles act they way they did when I entered their establishment. Well, this is just my opinion, based on their actions:  they didn't welcome or want an observant Jew who was wearing a yamicha, along with business casual clothes, in their establishment. ZERO STARS.
