Teriyaki Chicken with broccoli, fried rice, and sliced carrots (probably my favorite part of this dish).
    Wills W.

Second time picking this food up to bring home. My first time here I was told to try the teriyaki chicken. It was pretty solid, but not what I expected. The chicken is cut into small bites instead of whole cuts, but that doesn't change the flavor (which I thought was good). This second time around, the chicken was a lot tougher/chewier than the first time, complete with some pieces charred over on the side. The fried rice is what you'd expect, complete with corn and chopped carrots. The slices of carrot they give you are tender and deliciously sweet. The broccoli is typically great but this time, most of my pieces were a bit overcooked and charred as well. I didn't want to only get the chicken teriyaki this time, so I went for some of the sushi rolls they offer. I got the Sylva Roll and the Volcano Roll. The Volcano was decent, but there was an excessively fishy taste to it, more than what you'd expect from the ingredients it's made of. The Sylva Roll was pretty darn good though and incredibly filling. Both of them were drowned in sauces so it's a bit hard to taste the individual ingredients, but I'd give the Sylva a 7.5/10 and the Volcano a 6/10 still. My wasabi and ginger was packed into the same box, so unfortunately those were both covered in sauce--if I order for pick up again, I'll try asking for those to be put in a small plastic container. Overall, this was decent/passable and I'm looking forward to dining in soon because everyone knows that food is better when it's not sitting in a car for 10 minutes.

Fast, cheap and (most importantly) delicious Teppanyaki-style Japanese ~ without the show. Proteins include steak, chicken and seafood. Want it on the sweet side? Look for the teriyaki selections. Like it more savory? Go hibachi. Whatever you select, expect generous side servings of perfectly cooked and seasoned friend rice and sweet carrots. Nice appetizers, including a delightful veggie tempura. The ginger soy dipping sauce is addictive. Also addictive: The White Sauce (of course, I want you to leave the bottle; can you also provide a really big straw?). Great food; great value. Only downside: Word is out and there's a bit of a wait at peak times. Guess what? It's worth it. PS I am not at all an experienced Sushi eater. However I've been told by several patrons that Kobe's made-to-order bar is a great place to start. "I'm going in!"

Scallops and shrimp hibachi were excellent!!! The staff were wonderful and so was the ambience. EVERYTHING is fresh, nothing frozen!!!

I would have never guessed this place was so good. Excellent service. Fish was fresh and delicious. Great variety of food at a fair price. Beautiful views of the river.

Waiter was spot on - tended to us quickly to get our drinks. He came and took our order and food came out fairly quickly. The vegetable tempura was great - not greasy and this one had broccoli and eggplant (I dont like eggplants but I am sure someone will.appreciate this). Fried rice - even though it was kids, it was fantastic. It was not oil soaked and the flavor was so clean. Even my picky husband said it taste so good! Rice was not mushy.. it was, excellent! The Chow Hor Fun? I wont lie... I disnt have high hopes as a restaurant in the Carolinas. Boy was I wrong! The noodles were al dente, beautiful mix of all the veggies and protein. Sauce was a little sweet for my taste, so I was able to request for some chilli sauce and was all good. Also, not greasy. I was happy. My husband got the tuna sushi nigiri, tuna roll, salmon nigiri and white tuna. It was really good! Everything was bright and did not smell fishy. Last note - portions are freakin HUGE! Like i ate a third and took the rest' and the container was full. My daighters "kids" fried rice was packed to the brim. Expect left overs, u less your a competitive eater. The price, value and quality, this was def a 5 star - our first and only in our vacation here. Highly recommend - speaking as a Chinese vacationing in the carolinas that was getting desperate for any semblance of chinese food

We were allowed to sit anywhere, and we didn't wait long for a server. Wanting to try several dishes, we chose the pad thai, the ginger pepper beef, and the red curry with chicken. We also ordered some alcohol, my wife wanting to try a particular wine. A sample was brought, but it wasn't very good, it tasted as if the bottle was old, as if it had been opened multiple days ago. We commented on this to ourselves. My wife ordered a full glass of a different wine. Our server brought the entire bottle of that wine over to open it and pour it, in what I would describe as a purposeful but unnecessary gesture of showing that it was a fresh bottle. My wife made a comment about the type of corkscrew she tended to prefer while the server was pulling the cork, and the server's response came across as unnecessarily abrasive. Our food came out fast, and the portions were good sized. The pad thai was tasty, well made. The red curry was not very good, it had a very unusual vegetable blend and the sauce was very watery. The ginger pepper steak and its vegetables had a decent flavor but several of the meat pieces seemed to be partially made of what I can only describe as gooey gelatin, independent of the sauce the dish was cooked in. Very off-putting. All three dishes were decently warm when they hit the table but not piping hot, and as a result they were lukewarm or cold fairly quickly. Later on I observed our server helping another server clear a table and our server made a definitive and unmistakable head gesture towards our table. Overall she seemed very tense, only checking on us occasionally. Her lack of care was emphasized when she checked by our table and we told her we were done with a half-eaten red curry and she did not question whether there was anything wrong. Overall a negative experience, and we will not be returning.

There was only one waitress serving the entire restaurant, and she did well, but sometimes I thought she could use a little help. This place was good, but a few things kept it from being a perfect five stars. We had kids, so we ordered some appetizers and requested they be brought out with the main meal so all the food came out at once -- chicken satay and a side of rice and some potstickers. They got brought out early despite the request. Restaurant has a variety of asian food: sushi, Pho, small selection of Thai and Chinese etc, plus some kid options (Corndogs etc). Everyone should be able to find something. Wife (half asian, her Mom ran Chinese restos growing up) got the Tom Kha and said it was unlike any other Tom Kha she'd gotten. Complex, and good, but different; extremely frothy. I ordered the Beef Pho and thought the meat was a lot tougher (both the strips and beef balls) then I am used to in Pho from Atlanta, Vegas, CA etc. Dumplings were mid, could have used a little more seasoning, they were very meaty. The kids liked their food. Parents thougt the food was fine. 20% gratuity automatically applied for a party of 6 (usually it's parties of 8). Drink service was a little slow and so was the check. Very passable, especially for a tourist town in the mountains but not going to wow you if you like more authentic asian food. Check it out if you're in the area and want some asian food!

We couldn't find a menu for the Sylva location but for one for another location in the area and that seemed to work. I ordered the Jumbo Shrimp & Steak Hibachi with no broccoli and subbed rice for Soba Noodles. I was a little odd that they didn't ask how I wanted my steak cooked since that in normally with most hibachi restaurants. Once our food was picked up I will say it was a pretty big serving. My shrimp were bigger then the normal shrimp but not by much. But the shrimp and steak had good flavor and I was a fan of the mushrooms it came with. I will say the serving of the Soba Noodles was on the smaller side though. The carrots seemed like they were just boiled and chopped up. Most likely were not cooked on a flat top and have never little flavor. Thank god for Shrimp Sauce right. Prices were similar wo what you get from most hibachi restaurants but did think the quality holds up to others. They also didn't have any Soy Sauce to go which was also odd. Would maybe come back if I was really craving Hibachi but most likely would not be my first pick.
