Staying nearby and craving some sushi, so we called in an order to-go. Ordered 3 rolls and two nigiri. I ordered one roll special, adding cream cheese to my avocado, and asking for eel sauce on the side. All other orders were as they come. Our order was ready early, and luckily my husband checked to make sure the sauce side was included...cuz it was not. Everything was good, average sized rolls with slightly above average amounts of fillings. I'd say some of the sweet potato tasted ever-so-slightly undercooked, could've been a bit softer, but still tasted great. No complaints about the taste of anything at all, fresh ingredients and good presentation. We wouldn't hesitate to return when in town. read more

Really bland and old tasting food. No soy sauce or tea etc brought to the table. The food used to be good when they were a hibachi place but this is just gross. Ordered two rolls with spicy tuna ($27) and it was horrible I have had spicy tuna rolls at dozens of restaurants and I have never had one like this. It was a mushed up gray/orange paste that tasted aweful. My husband had the super volcano roll and spit it out and said it tasted like cat food. The waitress asked if i ever had a spicy tuna roll at their restaurant before. When I told her I had not, she argued and said that that is how they are made and asked to see a picture of what I thought a spicy tuna roll was. I showed her a photo of a spicy tuna roll that has a chunk of red tuna and she responded that they do not make them like that and they use a premade mixture. Guess i should have asked if it was fresh tuna. That will teach me to assume a spicy tuna roll has acual fresh tuna. That's $27 i will never see again. Had been going there over the past two years however what they've done is now customers have to first get the menu on their phones because the printed ones which they still use, have prices that are out-of-date. The food itself has become disappointing; the wait staff seem to have had unhappy lives, and of course, the prices have skyrocketed. All in all, not worth it. Disappointed because the reviews brought in, yet VERY uneven In terms of the food. The place was nicely appointed. It looked very modern and smart. The Uni was fresh and good with great flavor. The avocado salad was absolutely divine. The avocado was beautiful and the ponzu sauce fresh yet when the Chirasi arrived the tuna looked suspect. Possibly dyed or carbon monoxide enhanced tuna. Bummer. They stuck by their assurance that it was fresh and not dyed. However, the color was magenta and not any color tuna would be on any place on the planet. Plus it made the rice pink. We were here for lunch. The sushi off the conveyer was good, edible and we didn't object. We ordered off the lunch menu and liked our egg drop soup, perhaps due to that we had been traveling and were pretty hungry.. We received cold Costco-Esque spring rolls. We then ordered yellow curry and Lo mein. This is where it took a hard turn to the south. unfortunately neither one had any amount of flavor. Especially the chicken curry which had creamy beef broth going on. Not curry. Our waitress was friendly tho quite slow, there are a lot of reasons for that but the place was quite empty at the time. The decor and atmosphere were pleasant with Asian hibachi and sushi chefs which gave it a more authentic feel. It was very clean so kudos there. Wouldn't hurt to spice it up. read more

I rarely do negative reviews but in this case I'm so inclined. We went for shushi at during dinner hour. Their were several tables full and little food on the conveyor. It took about 15 minutes before anyone greeted us. The sushi was low grade and OVERPRICED! The calimari we ordered never came after 20 minutes so we requested it to go and requested the bill. 15 minutes later the server brought us the food. The Calimari was stale and cold and cost $7.95 /order. I brought back the calmiari and management was rude and offered $15 in gift certificates. I will not go back and wouldn't recommend to family or friends. read more

We have been back several times and each time, the food was wonderful. I have had Bento boxes, yakisoba, Teribeef and Teriyaki chicken, tempura, fried vegetables etc. Only complaint is that this place is BUSY, and HAPPENING!! Whenever we go, there is a line out the door. They are building a second, bigger location at the other end of the strip mall with tappenyaki cooking tables. Passing through town and had dinner here and dessert. We both ordered the Combo plate with Shrimp and Kobe beef. (We should've shared a single combo plate) Both tasty, but my beef was cold and his wasn't cooked to order. He wanted it well done and it was bleeding still. Weird since mine was cold but cooked how I wanted. Fried rice was the best I've ever had. Both sushi rolls were amazing. AMAZING. We came back the next day for dessert since we ordered too much dinner. Deep fried cheesecake. Tasted Good, but weird, mine was cold on the inside. His wasn't. My very last bite brought me to a thick eyelash or maybe mustache hair deep fried into the cheesecake crust/shell for the deep frying. Thankfully (or not) it was literally the last bite that would've been eaten. Service was really good both visits. The wait was long, but only because we wanted a booth. They are opening a bigger space right down the strip mall soon. That should help the wait times. We will be back. read more

Have to admit, when I heard we were getting a sushi place in The Dalles, I was beyond excited. I have now been half a dozen times, including once for lunch. My verdict... meh. It's okay. The menu is huge, however, bigger certainly isn't always better. The rolls are nice as a general rule, though I am a fan of sashimi, and honestly the quality of the fish has been consistently poor. Easy to hide low quality fish in a roll stuffed with crap. Still thankful to have a sushi option in town. To begin, my son ordered a kids orange juice ($3.50, FYI) & I ordered a club soda, the server had no idea what I was talking about, so I gave up on trying to describe it & just ordered water. For lunch I ordered the chicken teriyaki, i asked if it came with rice & broccoli like it shows in the picture & the server said yes. My son ordered the kids chicken hibachi. Nothing special about either order, we ordered them just as they came. My chicken came out... no broccoli, no rice. The server who brought it said he would be right back with rice & napkins (we had none), about 5 minutes later another server came by & asked if I needed a box... I said I was still waiting on my rice, broccoli, napkins & my son was still waiting on his meal. Several minutes later still nothing. Eventually another server came out & said the kitchen messed up & that they would make my sons food now, I asked for my rice & broccoli AGAIN! 30 minutes after my the food came out they brought my sons food & my rice, no broccoli. I ate my cold chicken & rice, it was ok. We ended up getting the napkins at the end of our meal. Usually if a restaurant has an error like this they will comp something or offer free dessert. This place did nothing. I paid & left, but I definitely didn't feel good about the experience. :( read more
