A very firm 2 1/2 stars from me. This restaurant looks nice on the inside and outside and that was the initial draw for my husband and I. We had a busy work day so we decided to order delivery from Kobe this evening..... too bad for me. I got him the Chirashi which is just lots of sashimi over rice, so he said it was good but hard to f***k up as long as the fish tastes fresh. Whatever. It was $21 btw. My salmon bento was $18, which is way overpriced and it mostly sucked. I was pretty bothered. I am so sick of Bellevue prices and lackluster food for said price. Psh. My salmon was small and INCREDIBLY DRY. I mean, I choked on a piece because of the desert quality. It was so bad I had to go to my own cupboard and slather on the teriyaki sauce just to try and moisten it... it didn't do much. The gyoza were a tad soggy and cold (the miso was cold too), as well as the tempura and very oddly placed McDonald's hash brown patty cut in half. The salad dressing was good. That was literally my favorite part. The worst thing for me (yes, even worse than dry as a bone salmon) was the California roll. I am super "basic white girl" with my love of Cali rolls, but this one was sour. Not like it had gone off, but like the mayo they used was too sour for my taste. I'm not sure I just know I only ate two pieces and gave up. We are beyond excited to be moving out of Bellevue at the end of the month, if not just for the crappy overpriced food alone. The menu is huge - lots of great options to choose from which actually made it a bit harder. Decided to get two rolls: Kobe Volcano - SO GOOD. The center was warm with chilled sushi rice. It was such a flavorful spicy with the sauces and fish. 10/10 Red crunch roll - Good. The sauces help with flavoring. If you like spicy tuna rolls, try this! 8/10 Soup and salad were served before the rolls arrived. This was much better than japonessa in my opinion. Give it a try! read more

Came here because a few of us were staying at the hotel next door, we were starving, and needed to eat quickly. Came in here without looking at any reviews. Staff offered incorrect info about what was on the menu. Such as, does this dish come with vegetables or rice? All meals served with small salad and miso soup. Both meh. Sushi roll took so long to come out that other food was cold. But the teriyaki didn't come with the vegetables or rice so at least those were warm when they finally arrived with the sushi. This is a restaurant that my coworkers and I regularly get lunch at, so I've been here a few times already. The location is conveniently in downtown Bellevue, although there's always usually a line during lunch. Most of the time though, we only need to wait about 10 minutes for a group of 6 -7 people, so I'd say service is generally pretty fast. Kobe has one of the most extensive menus I've ever seen for a typical Asian restaurant. They serve both Japanese, Thai, and Korean food, and they have options for bibimbap, ramen, sushi, and more. This is definitely a place with a lot of variety, which means that there are lots of options for you to choose from. I ordered the bibimbap, and it comes in a sizzling stone pot, which keeps the rice warm. There is a good selection of vegetables on top, such as cucumbers, carrots, bean sprouts, and kimchi radish. The meat is seasoned well too. It comes with gochujang (Korean sweet-spicy sauce) on the side, but does not come with side dishes. My coworkers got the spicy seafood ramen, which was indeed very spicy. It had clams and mussels which were fresh (for the most part), and they said it was good too. The portion sizes are good for around $11-12, so this place is pretty standard for lunch in Bellevue. Although I don't find myself actively craving this place, I don't mind stopping here for lunch every once in a while. read more

I have mixed feelings about Kobe. For the most part, Kobe is adequate. The quality-price-ratio is excellent. Service is also good! However, my experience at this restaurant has not been consistent: it's rather hit or miss. Most of the time, the experience is fine. However, on multiple occasions in the past, they forgot to include certain items in my togo bag (such as the curry container that goes with the curry katsu dish, or missing the miso soup). But mistakes do happen, and it's completely understandable. Recently, I ordered their "sushi-sashimi special" ($74) which was supposed to come with 17 pieces of nigiri and 20 pieces of sashimi. The platter was great except for one thing: I was truly shocked and appalled to see that 2 of the 20 pieces of "sashimi" were tamagoyaki (cooked egg omelet). Sashimi is supposed to be raw. Cooked egg is categorically and unequivocally not sashimi. To include 2 pieces of cooked egg and pass it as 2 pieces of a sashimi is, in my opinion, a very obvious attempt at cutting corners and saving costs, and maybe even a little insulting? In my humble opinion (and also in my experience), the tamagoyaki should be complimentary, and not part of the 20 pieces of sashimi (sliced raw fish)... We stayed at the Courtyard Marriott next door so opted to try Kobe based on convenience and a quick glance at their menu. We came at the wrong time. There was a body building competition that just finished so they were slammed. They let us know it would be a 30 minute wait for our food. No problem as we weren't starving and I love that they set expectations in the beginning. We ordered sushi roll special that came with miso soup and salad. They also brought miso soups for our kids. Our kids split the chicken katsu. The chef even sent out a complimentary gyoza due to the wait. That was a nice touch! This has got to be one of the most disappointing experience I ever had. Knowing this place is a fusion place I was very excited about trying both Japanese and Koreans dishes. However, nothing stood out. Everything was just average. I had the curry katsu and fried chicken for my entrees. The curry was warm, mediocre taste at best, and the katsu wasn't cooked at the right amount of crispness hence it was a little hard to chew. I feel like they just heat up the curry and dump it to the plate because curry didn't look like it was freshly made. The chicken on the other side was just sad, I feel like eating plastic. The best part of skin was not there and the sauce just a regular sweet and sour sauce you can find everywhere. My girlfriend had the vegetable tempura and the soft tofu soup. The tempura feels like refried from previous night because the texture was very thick and the vegetables were onions potatoes and pumpkin. At least should have oyster mushroom or pepper... the tofu soup on the other end just feel like people threw tofu paste plus the salad that they served you. Overall, this place feels like they want to save cost. This was a very disappointing experience, if you want customer to come back, actually put in the effort in the quality of food. Came to Sunday evening with friend and open until 11pm. Parking lots are available same building or street parking. It's a very friendly and casual and Asian foods. We ordered Karaage, Udon, Beef short ribs and Asahi beer. I thought "Karaage" is a Japanese chicken fried but it wasn't. Udon soup was little sweet taste and wish Age(fried tofu)has a seasoning. I've ordered from here so many times and have even dined in a number of times. Very casual dining room with no frills but the food is delicious and it draws quite a crowd. I ate here twice last week. The first time I had the chicken teriyaki with yakisoba noodles and upgraded to fried rice. The chicken teriyaki was good, a very large portion size. I was really disappointed in the yakisoba noodles, they were drowning in oil and the ratio of cabbage in the dish made it difficult to get a good bite of noodles. They said they were having trouble in the kitchen that night so perhaps that had something to do with it. Miso soup and a cup of salad with a delicious ginger dressing came with every order. The fried rice upgrade was epic. Really recommend the fried rice upgrade. Service was really lacking on my fire visit. Our water cups couldn't get filled. When someone from my dining party asked for a refill The lady brought the pitcher over to fill up her glass but did not refill any other glasses on the tabbed before walking away. That was strange. The second time I had the combo with teriyaki chicken Ann's Mongolian beef. The quality of the beef in the Mongolian beef dish was not great, I ended up mostly enjoying the scallions & onions in that dish. On vacation and craving some Asian cuisine. This place was right outside my hotel, so I thought I must try it. I walked in and it wasn't very packed for a Saturday night at all. I placed my order for a bento box and it was ready and package great in about 15 mins. $15 for a lot of food. The container they had to transport was fantastic. Was impressed by that. All in all a pretty good place. The California roll didn't have much flavor and the soup tasted a bit dank. This place makes good tonkatsu and fried chicken. I believe they make their own batter but the fried chicken here is pretty authentic. Their soondubu is surprisingly good, have a very rich hearty flavor, interesting that they put cabbage into it, not that I minded it. They have good bentos, combo meals and lunch specials. I recently had a decent dining experience at Kobe Restaurant in Bellevue, WA. The cheese donkatsu, a Korean take on a classic dish, was incredibly delicious with its perfectly fried cutlet and melted cheese. The Korean Mussel soup was flavorful with MSG but who cares ? Must be nice with the soju and Korean beer. They are not 100% genuine K style taste but we sould accept it because this is the only Korean bar style restaurant in Bellevue WA. Despite our group of eight staying for over 2.5 hours, the staff provided kind service without any complaints. So I work across the street right now and I've been thinking of a place to go, not wanting Subway or a hostile cafe shop I went into Kobe. On first blush it looks clean and busy, friendly smiling staff and large menu options. Once I sat down the seat cushions look very worn (see photo) and the sides of the tables are encrusted with dirt and sweat grim from not being cleaned for a long time. The Miso soup the came quickly after ordering the chicken teriyaki was needing some seasoning, some kind of flavoring as it should have flavor. This Miso was bland. The chicken looked great when it was served but lacks flavor, I've rated a lot of teriyaki and learned that you can add flavor many ways. The rice wasn't too sticky but it also lacked flavor or something. Teriyaki Bowl on Bellevue way is $1.00 cheaper and has three times the flavor, that being said I've had a lot worse and this is very conveniently located. read more

Delighted to say that Kobe has improved! Despite past experiences at this restaurant (missing items from takeout orders, poor customer service and communication) I wanted to grab food from them because: 1. They typically stay open late 2. Their food tastes amazing I have placed two orders in the past few weeks and I am satisfied. Restaurant's customer service improved a lot! I placed both orders on the phone and had no issues when picking them up. Both times the orders had everything in them. In addition, Danica, who works the front desk, was great at communicating and making sure I know when to come in and how long I'd need to wait. She was also overall welcoming. Note: I am giving four stars for the minor inconvenience. Last order I picked up wasn't packaged well so miso soup spilled and as a result brown paper bag my order was in ripped from the moisture and caused few items to fall out :/ read more

It's a cute place with ok.... bar food. Went here for lunch and the food was just... ok. I've never had a sushi roll that had salad dressing on it and the menu didn't mention any sauce. It so sickly sweet that I ended up trying to scrape off as much sauce as I could and smothering it in ginger and say sauce and even still couldn't finish it. The tempura that was ordered was not really that light tempura batter but rather thick and it was almost burnt with a few pieces being burnt. Another thing I couldn't finish. There's a $26~ fried chicken and 2 beers combo which I highly recommend, stick with the spicy flavor, the plain one is a little plain. The food was... alright? It was by far some of the... weirdest... sushi I have had. The rolls definitley were not cheap, but tasted cheap. First of all, we ordered the calamari- which usually is deep fried squid or octopus with yummy dipping sauce. Our calamari came and it was rectangular deep fried chunks of.... I couldnt tell. It was seafood of some sort? Probably? So that was really weird... Second, I got a bento box that came out way before my husbands super easy order of just nigiri- it wasnt hot when it came and by the time i started eating it when my husband got his food- my gyoza and spring rolls (which were definitely costco spring rolls) were completely cold. I dropped by here for a quick fix of sashimi, so my experience is limited to a brief stay at the sushi bar. Pros: + Good customer service experience. + The salad and miso soup were good. + The sashimi was quite delicious. + Food looked pretty. Con: - The sashimi was served in a deep bowl with a lot of shaved daikon, and for some reason a lot of water collected on the bottom of the bowl. Not sure if it was from the fish or something else, but it resulted in me skipping the daikon that I normally really enjoy when I get sashimi. read more

It was decent, but not spectacular (the broccoli beef seemed to be cooked in a batch for the night and was only okay, the teriyaki chicken was very well done and delicious). I would still go back, except the portion size was very disappointing. For a $20 entree, I would hope to be at least moderately full; however the take out container was only filled about halfway, and most of it was salad. I would need to order two entrees to be full. Admittedly I do eat a lot, but if this was representative of their normal portions and not a one off mistake (there was lots of extra room in the take out container) I would expect the average adult would not be satisfied with the take out size. read more

Salad tasted very water down at the end. The lobster roll was actually California rolls with fried lobsters on top and topped with spicy mayo sauce. Place closes at 11 and if you come in at late or close to closing, you can still order and eat at the restaurant but you would have to pay first because PO system shuts down at 11. Tried to do the ramen challenge - 3 liters of broth with only noodles and bean sprouts. There was absolutely no meat or any other vegetables and the soup was basically water. They overloaded the bowl with bean sprouts. I will not be eating bean sprouts for a really long time. read more
