Some fun with the fried rice

We had a great experience checking this place out with a group of friends. We made a reservation on Open Table and were seated right away. Jayce, Woo, Charlie and Romero were exceptionally helpful and great customer service. It was a fun and delicious meal that we will most definitely come back to!

Their happy hour deals are unbeatable, with discounted set meals, drinks and sides that make this place super budget-friendly without cutting corners on quality. The whole dining experience is so fun and interactive: talented chefs put on an entertaining live show right in front of you, complete with flaming onion volcanoes, impressive flipping tricks and loud sizzling grills. It's perfect for date nights, friend gatherings or family dinners--everyone was laughing and enjoying the performance the whole time.

Came to Wild Wasabi for my 4-year anniversary, and I honestly don't know how to feel about the experience. I had a 7pm reservation, but when we arrived and I double-checked my booking on Yelp, it had somehow been changed to 10pm with no notice. There was no way we could wait three hours, so I called the restaurant to cancel. The manager answered and said this kind of issue never happens and that it was likely either a Yelp glitch or a scheduling mistake on their end. He told us to still come in, which I appreciated, and they were able to honor our original 7pm reservation. Once we were seated at the hibachi table, it was a very busy Friday night, so we ended up waiting about an hour for the chef to start. They did provide us with gyoza while we waited, which was a nice gesture. As for the food, I ordered the hibachi special, and it was good overall. I'm a sucker for some Yum Yum sauce, the meat quality was good as well. Our habachi chef can whip up a mean fried rice. The experience itself just felt a bit disorganized, which was disappointing for a special occasion. Not terrible, just not what I expected for an anniversary dinner.

TL;DR Wild Wasabi is a new sushi and teppanyaki restaurant that is still trying to find its bearings. For those that live in Bellevue, you'll recognize that wild wasabi is the new hibachi restaurant that took over when Tokyo Steakhouse closed around. This review is not about Tokyo steakhouse, but I do want to draw some comparisons so that patrons can make the best decision for their hibachi desires. Ambiance The interior of the restaurant is pretty much the same, but their menu has drastically changed. You can definitely come here after work if you wanted to simply get sushi and maybe have a drink or two, as they do have a bar area. The music isn't too loud, and the restaurant is pretty well lit. One thing that I didn't really like was how chilly it was in there. I would say this is negligible, but for those that aren't ironed, efficient, being cold when not at home is the worst feeling ever. I kept my puffy jacket on throughout the whole hibachi service. I would highly recommend this restaurant make it just a tad warmer. Service One of the highlights for this restaurant is the service. As I mentioned, this is a pretty new restaurant that I believe is trying to find its bearings. This may be a rebrand instead of a new company just coming in, but it was very apparent that the restaurant staff wanted to provide the best service that they could. Our water cups were always full, and when we had an issue with one of our drinks ( we were sharing sake, and we only received 2 cups), one of the managers came and resolved the issue for us. Either way the service was top-notch and we loved our hibachi chef Billy. Food One of the reasons why people love hibachi is because of the vegetable and the fried rice that comes with their meal. The old restaurant had vegetables like zucchini, mushrooms, bean sprouts, and onions. That is essentially the A-Team of vegetables. Unfortunately, the newer hibachi restaurants-- I'm assuming for a cost control purposes -- have started using, carrots and broccoli to replace the bean sprouts. I'm already not a fan of mushrooms, but replacing bean sprouts with other vegetables that aren't really desirable made the meal just OK. Additionally, the vegetable portion was extremely small in comparison to the rice portion. Please note that this has nothing to do with the hibachi chef. We thoroughly enjoyed our chef Billy who cooked our meat and our fried rice to perfection. I will even go as far as to say that the vegetables were cooked to perfection, but this restaurant should highly consider removing the carrots and using bean sprouts instead, this change would at least justify the price. Another small observation is that fried rice is defaulted for your hibachi meals, and I think it's common for hibachi restaurants to provide steamed rice or white rice and charge extra for fried rice. This is a really an issue, but something I observed. Conclusion All in all, I give this restaurant a rounded 4/5. If wild wasabi signature implements certain changes to their menu, I really do believe that this will be the premier Teppanyaki restaurant on the east side.

Valentine's Day dessert - really good!
    Young Y.

Fun Teppanyaki restaurant. A bit chaotic inside with mixed service. Visited on Valentine's Day. They enforced a Valentine's Day menu this day which wasn't declared on the reservation and website (they should do that in the future). Food was decent sometimes salty. The Valentine's Day menu was a set "12 course" teppanyaki meal. The salad, miso, pickled cucumber were good - enjoyed it. The Teppanyaki was fun - we had a nice engaging chef. Fried rice was good - not overloaded with garlic. We had lobster, colossal shrimp, ny steak, and ribeye all decent. There were strangely some bites that were super salty and others that were good. Dessert was a nice cake to share. Service was poor and chaotic. We had to remind the waitress for our drinks. So did our neighbors seated next to us (twice). While eating the main dish they brought us checks to pay. Dishes were not removed and they brought out the cake and to go bags. For $180 definitely sent a confusing message of get out. Ambiance is fun energetic loud music. It's good for 2 people. If you go with 4, it's hard for you to engage with the people not next to you because you're seated in a row at the Teppanyaki seats and it's loud (hard to talk and hear each other). It's really fun though. Up to 3 hours free Parking in the Elements building. Just make sure you select 3 hours. Bathrooms is clean meaning the kitchen is clean. All in all, it was ok. It was chaotic and not value oriented. It was still fun. Just not worth over $500 for four people. Might need to come back a different day when we can pick other items off the menu.

Underground parking available in the building but need to take elevator up and out of the building to get to the restaurant. Both dining and teppanyaki options. You order with an iPad but there seems to be a lot of confusion if you have received your order as they kept coming to ask if we had received certain dishes. Great quality of seafood. Very large and loud atmosphere good for group celebration.

Salad and miso soup for hibachi

This place was amazing quality and quantity for the price! When seated for hibachi you get a soup, salad, a few pieces of crunchy tofu in broth, your choice of two proteins and either white or fried rice. The quality of all of it was great, the chef was fun, and the wait staff was friendly! We came here for our wedding anniversary and brought my grandparents who each got their own bottles of sake. It was a delicious and great night!

This was my first time back at Signature Wild Wasabi Steakhouse in Bellevue since the new ownership took over, and WOW....I was blown away! I honestly didn't think they could make the environment any nicer than before, but they absolutely did. The upgrades are beautiful, the space feels elevated, and I love the addition of more TVs/projectors throughout the restaurant. Our Chef, Billy.....was PHENOMENAL!!!!! Truly one of the best humans! His humility throughout our conversations and the way he seemed to love what he does, was unlike anything I've had experienced. The service was fast, friendly, and extremely attentive. EVERY single staff member made us feel welcomed and appreciated, which is rare these days. The way they cater to you and make you feel like you matter was SOOOO refreshing. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was perfect, and the customer service was next-level. I'll definitely be coming back and often. Highly recommend Wild Wasabi!!

    Me at the restaurant.

Great service from Jayce our waiter and the chef were wonderful. Music was nice too. My family enjoyed every minute.

We came for happy hour on a Monday afternoon to scope the place out, as we're considering it as an option for out-of-town guests. As such, this review is just on the sushi, not hibachi side of the restaurant. Upon entering, the restaurant was completely empty, and the overall vibe felt more like a nightclub than a sushi spot--lots of lights, electronic-style music, and a football game projected on the wall. We ordered the salmon sashimi-don, a vegetable roll, and a Seattle roll. The food took about 15 minutes to come out. Unfortunately, the sashimi-don was essentially a poke bowl made from leftover salmon sashimi. The raw egg on top was a nice touch, but it didn't make up for the mediocre quality of the salmon. The rolls were also disappointing, both in quality and portion size, especially considering the price. They do have a very extensive roll menu, so it's possible other options are better. Service was fine, which is to be expected since we were the only people there for most of the hour. One additional concern: we noticed exposed (capped) electrical wires on a metal bar at a height easily reachable by a toddler, which felt like a safety issue. Overall, this was a big disappointment, and unfortunately not a place we'd return to.

We had dinner at Wild Wasabi last night. The star was Randy, the hibachi chef. This is very similar to Benihana, and Randy was the best entertaining chef ever!!!! He made us laugh, did interact with my 2 grandchildren all while cooking the food. The food was hit and miss. Most of us ordered the set menu, with the choice of tofu or chicken karaage for appetizer. Soup and salad. Choice of 2 proteins. The chicken was not crispy, kinda chewy. The soup was onion soup, a clear broth with onions and slices of mushrooms with a taste we are not used to . The prawns were excellent, the squid tender, the short ribs and steaks were ok. The omakase of sashimi had a wonderful presentation, with dry ice in a little pot in the middle, and they poured water to make it smoke. But there was nobody to explain what kind of fish those morsels were, so it was an adventure to discover. The sign at the register said " Best sushi award in 2023 " , but I assume they didn't keep up that standard. Service was really lacking here. The 4 stars were because of the chef. But the person taking the order was not on point. She did not come around much during dinner, the chef cleared some of the plates away. She asked if we were celebrating anything when we first sat down, and we said it's my grandson's birthday. But when we asked for dessert, she did not present a menu but said they charged for dessert and we would get a complimentary dessert if we write a review. Of course we declined! Be warned that the restaurant is noisy. Maybe because of the hibachi fans, the music was loud. For a restaurant that took credit cards to guarantee a reservation, there were too many misses for us to guarantee a return. If we ever do, we will ask for Randy!! I would give them 2-3 stars, but because of Randy, they got 4 stars.

Great food, a bit soulless ambiance due to the large size but very fun at the teppanyaki tables. Outstanding sashimi and sushi with a huge selection of rolls that are good Service is very impersonal and cold but sufficient They seemed to take my terrible clay wasabi comment to heart as my last wasabi was outstanding

We waited over 30 minutes just to receive our drinks, which already set a bad tone for the night. On top of that, when we politely asked a server about a dish that never arrived, his response was extremely rude. He told us, "We know what we're doing," instead of offering an apology or solution. To make matters worse, we noticed cockroaches on the walls, which is completely unacceptable and very concerning from a hygiene standpoint. Between the long wait times, poor customer service, and serious cleanliness issues, this is not a place I would recommend. We expected much better.

18 & On Fire at Mizu Steakhouse…read more We celebrated my grandbaby's 18th birthday at Mizu in Renton. And let me tell you... life is funny. Back in the day, that exact location used to be a Shari's -- my parents' favorite go-to dinner spot when we wanted a simple family night out. Pancakes, pie, comfort food, booth conversations. Now? It's a Japanese hibachi grill. Full circle. Same building. Different era. New memories. The Experience The food? Good. The prices? Fine. The atmosphere? Great. The service? Okay. But the chef? The chef was the absolute star. He didn't just cook -- he entertained. He engaged everyone at the table. He made it a show. He made it a celebration. That's what you want for an 18th birthday. The fire. The chopping. The jokes. The crowd reactions. You could see my grandbaby soaking it in. And that matters more than anything. The Vibe It's one of those places you go when you want: * Food cooked right in front of you * A little drama with your dinner * Laughter at the table * An interactive experience It's not just eating. It's participating. And honestly? Watching generations sit around that grill -- remembering Shari's from back in the day while celebrating 18 years of life -- that hit different. Time moves. Buildings change. But family dinners? Those stay sacred. This spot seems to have been around for a long time, hence the number of reviews already posted…read more It's a hole-in-the-wall location, or in this case a hole-in-the-side since it faces the street but isn't that noticeable. I decided to come here with a friend on a Friday night around 6pm, and got here using street parking that was hard to come across. You could probably stay for a long time here just enjoying conversations with friends; the inside feels like a fine-dining steak restaurant mixed with bar-like noise levels but instead of chatter you hear today's most popular K-pop music from LE SSERAFIM, for example. The menu is expansive and covers everything from bento boxes to specialty sushi to a really large ramen bowl that you can try finishing in half an hour for a $100 gift card to use at the restaurant. I got a tonkatsu bento, and my friend got their chicken katsu bento. We both weren't too satisfied with what we got: - We each got California rolls as our sushi side. Pretty standard but filling. You can sub for spicy tuna rolls for $1 more. - Sides like the miso soup and salad were served in separate bowls sometime before our bento boxes were served. Standard for both as well but I love me some salad dressed in sweet sauces. - The tempura and fried selection was one of our favorites. Gyoza was all right, but the shrimp tempura was fresh, hot and crispy. There was one tempura that I thought would be a potato croquette but then ended up tasting more like a hash brown. It was also a little thinner than what I remember a potato croquette being. - Our biggest issue was, sadly, the katsu itself - for both of our bento boxes. Regardless of meat, the outer coating was pretty hard, so much so it even scratched the roofs of our mouths when we ate it. Neither meat was particularly juicy though I slightly preferred my friend's chicken katsu over the tonkatsu I got; it was ever so slightly juicy and my mouthfeel could only subtly pick that up. Service overall was great; we got our orders promptly, water was refilled without us asking, and our server would ask how we were doing at times. This was still a great experience, just the food we got wasn't great. If I come back, I'll try their sushi and maybe even risk the huge ramen bowl.

King Salmon - We topped up with ikura since caviar wasn't available, and the portion size was generous; the ikura adds a delicious salinity and texture profile to balance the naturally sweet salmon. Fresh wasabi gives this piece such a nice bright freshness. Ebi Nuoc Mam - Smaller shrimp seasoned with that classic Vietnamese palette of savory fish sauce that can give the shellfish flavor to hold its own. Tempura Shrimp - This roll gives a classic tempura shrimp roll with all the fix ins from spicy mayo to a sweeter saline glaze. The cucumber adds freshness and the piece eats very well with a balanced serving of rice. Spicy Tuna - Classic spicy tuna handroll with the added pairing of the sweet pickled radish, which gives a bright sweetness to contrast the bold spice coming from the tuna mixture. Kanpachi - Another piece that works brilliantly with ikura; we have that firm white fish powered by the lime, and the saline forward nature of the salmon roe really helps to add another dimension to the amberjack. Torched Eel - Very generous cut of eel that will be sure to satisfy for the final rolls I like the added toppings of cucumber and optional wasabi, which help alleviate some of the richness of that seasoned eel.
