I came here because I heard about the ramen bowl challenge. We got sat at a table right next to the computer for orders and the kitchen where they bring dirty plates into so, so far bad start. I asked the waitress if I did the ramen bowl challenge and didn't finish could I take it home and they said no "it defeats the purpose". I understand that but what makes me mad is that they would just throw all that food away. They should just charge more and let you take it home so good doesn't go to waste. I ended up ordering a single bowl of ramen because I was in a ramen mood and I have to say it was such a let down. I got the tonkotsu and the broth lacked flavor. The pork was good but they gave you four of the smallest pieces in the world. They were smaller than a quarter. Plus the noodle was soggy. Go to kukai instead for ramen. We also ordered the katsu chicken with udon. Katsu was meh. Nothing extraordinary. Udon was better than the ramen but still nothing special. We got a sushi roll which was the best thing we ordered. It was good. The service on the other hand was not fantastic. They barely talked to us or filled our water and they forgot to give us our udon. Will not come back. read more

I ordered take-out and waited. 2 minutes after I ordered, I saw a waiter bring a dish back to the kitchen that had exactly what I ordered. 20 seconds later my take-out was ready. Not too bad. I've had better bulgogi somewhere else. The staff are quick to get us a seat but then they got distracted by other things that they did not ask us first what we want to drink. Then we ordered our food, not too long of a wait. But we were already eating and still they have not brought us glasses of water. I've been to this place a few times and had a good experience each time. The food is average but the excellent customer service makes up for it. I've tried almost everything on their menu (I always go with friends and/or family, so I get to try many dishes). I think the katu dishes are the best. The ramen and udon dishes are so-so. The texture of the noodles is too soft and the soup is quite bland. I would not recommend any of the noodles. All the entrees come with salads. They have 3 salad choices for you and they're all pretty darn good! I especially like the seaweed salad. The food portions are quite big. We always end up taking home leftovers. The owner (the friendly man with black rim glasses and suspenders) is really nice. He was always checking on us. The last time I was there, he was so nice and carved a little teddy bear out of an orange for my son. My son is still experiencing with different solid foods so we brought his homemade dinner to the restaurant. We asked the owner to heat it up for us and he was really nice about it. I know not all restaurants would do this. I'm sure we'll contiue to frequent this restaurant as it's right by my son's swim class & play group. I love that they have free parking too! Maybe I'm being stingy with stars, since we didn't try too many things. My guess is this place has several things it does well, and if you know what they are, you can likely get a good meal. It is not the place for ramen, alas--so if you are like this Japanese kid and searching for a great bowl of ramen in the greater Seattle area, keep looking, and go to Samurai in the interim. I had the tonkotsu, and this bowl was more sprouts than noodles, noodles were egg not wheat, and overcooked. The broth and pork must have been some low fat version for east siders, dry and bland--not what I'm hoping for from my tonkotsu. Husband got the miso ramen and was similarly disappointed, even as a white guy. The spicy tuna was solid, but the yellowtail roll was not--too sweet? I suspect there's quite a bit of sugar happening at this place. I'd go back to try the katsu, and looks like they have some pretty good shochu, so maybe that's where to hang your hat. read more

Nice interior design. Personally, I don't like TVs in the restaurants but they had two, Personally I like jazz or classical or CCM but they were blasting music I don't like to listen to. Service is kind and courteous. Food is mediocre and bit overpriced. I would give a four star if it weren't for music and tv. read more

Horrible Tonkstsu Ramen. Meat slice was super dry. The soup broth was tasteless and horrible.

Average sushi, bad Katsu, overpriced food, and horrible service. I would not recommend anybody going here as their wait staff and Managers are a bit shady. We had a discount for the restaurant that said 20% off entire bill. The Waitress took off 10% off one meal instead ($.90) and said this was what the owners advised her to do. She promised she would void that and make it right however only took off an extra .50 the second time when the overall discount should have been $6. I was extremely disappointed. This place is across the street from my office, so I *used to* eat there quite often for lunch. They had a good bento box with reasonable (~$10 per) pricing. Today I went there for lunch and they'd raised all their prices considerably. Most of the menu items were $2-4 higher. Plus the service has gone downhill. They were very slow with the service, and I actually witnessed them asking a customer to move tables in the middle of his meal so that they could seat a bigger party at his table. First time to go here. Most of the food seemed Japanese but I think most of the staff was Korean. Good value for the amount of food you got. I could not eat everything and it was very balanced. Tonkatsu was good and tender. Ramen soup could have used a richer broth but it was good on a cold day. Two waitresses were helpful. Sushi chefs just stood behind the counter and never said anything to the customers. A little more interaction with the customers would have been nice. The seats at the sushi bar were much too low-I felt like I was sitting in a hole. Lastly, all staff were tasting and eating food in the front of the restaurant in customer's view and at the sushi bar. I thought was unprofessional and didn't look like the way a restaurant should conduct business. That was the biggest minus. So overall, food pretty good but did not try sushi. This Raman place doesn't taste delicious, I have never seen a green pepper in the Raman. Plus, the vegetables in the Raman messed up with the original flavor of the Raman. There are still many improvements needed for the taste of the ramen. read more

I went for lunch today. I was seated right away, but waited about 10 minutes before I was forced to wave someone down to take my order. Also I had to ask for water as well. It was at noon so they were busy, but still had 4 servers roaming around. I've never had an issue with the food here, but the service was horrible today. We stumbled onto this place on Valentine's day when the restaurant we had reservations for was too crowded and a huge disappointment. We came in with no reservations, were promptly seated. We had three servers attending to us and the food was incredible. It was a great surprise. We had sushi and the Mongolian beef we highly recommend. We will definetly be back and the staff was very cool and relaxed. What could have been a disaster Valentine's Day turned out to be one of the most fun dinners we've had. Thank you Kobe! read more

The atmosphere is nice and a wide selection of food on the menu. However, none of the food was good. My friend had a bento dinner box and the only thing she finished was the short ribs. She said the rolls were not fresh and other items on her plate were not good. I had the pork ramen. The meat was very tough and broth was flavorless. The portion was very large however. My boyfriend attempted the ramen challenge. It was fun, though the shoyo broth was pretty oily and I guess you shouldn't expect good food when the objective is to eat as much as you can in 30 mins. When we asked to pack the left over ramen to go, the waitress was too lazy and claimed they cannot pack it due to a lack of a container that size. Well, that's easy to fix. I suggested that we will just split it in a couple of containers and she refused. I guess they expected us to pay $25 for a large bowl of ramen and not allow us to even take it home. What a joke! Finally we convinced another waitress to get a couple of containers for us, but of course we had to pack it ourselves. read more

I've reported this place to King County Public Health and have been informed they will receive follow up inspections. Some of the waitresses at this establishment have a bad habit of licking their fingers to grab things while handling your food including bagging your food to go. The first time I noticed this I reported them to King County Public Health and received a response informing me they will receive inspections and that their waitresses have been talked to by the owner. I wanted to give them another chance and a few weeks later what did I see? A DIFFERENT waitress performing this same disgusting habit, I asked to speak to the manager and was told she's not working today. I've reported them to King County Public Health again and have yet to receive a response. If you go to King County's Public Health website and search Kobe Fusion Asian Restaurant's inspection records, within the last couple of years you'll find many unsatisfactory inspections for various reasons including an unsatisfactory result on their very last inspection.
