Oh that's right, never. On a friend's recommendation, I rented my equipment at the family-owned Alpine Sports, at the Hilton Valdoro lodge location (one of their four shops). Taylor took care of me, first double-checking my boot size, and renting me a sweet pair of Rossignol S3 demos. He was very knowledgable and friendly, discussing the rest of their inventory and comparing their stock to my Volkl Vertigo G3 carvers I left back in NY. The Rossignols were in great condition - bases were smooth and edges sharp. These are rocker skis designed for powder, and given the four days of snowfall, these were a blast to ski with. Prices were reasonable, and they've also got a decent selection of apparel and accessories in case you forget to pack anything for your ski trip! Couldn't have been any easier as was on the water in minutes to meet up with my friends who jump on the lake from the boat ramp. They had free lockers to keep your backpack in + free waterproof bags in case you wanted to take your phone with you or any other valuable. Was a perfect calm morning and Dylan was great helping take the board in once we were done. Glad we chose them as we were sure which part of the lake to rent from or where to go, being from out of town. Sure you might have more islands to paddle around if rented on the Frisco side, but we loved being the only ones around in the late morning and had a great time paddling across to the shore + down and around the first inlet. Couldn't have been happier + 2 hrs gives you a lot more time that you think. Plenty of time. A quick reminder that the rental shack is at the end of the marina after you walk past the public restrooms and other little shops.

Paddleboarding on Twin Lakes is not for the faint of heart! I would call myself an intermediate…read morepaddle boarder, and this was both a physically and mentally demanding experience for me. The owners were very friendly. We had booked an afternoon session, but it was pouring rain, so they told us we could wait it out and start later. They also do not charge a late fee if you go for over two hours, which we were grateful for because we got lost amongst the islands, and it was a difficult journey to find our way back and paddle against the currents. I was grateful they provided us dry bags and recommended that we bring extra layers. The weather changed really quickly as it was sunny when we started and later became overcast, rainy, and cold. It was very windy, and the currents were strong (at least for me). I also fell in the lake, so it was nice to have dry clothes to change into. Something that did throw us off was that the Google maps location takes you to the office, while the launch site where they actually have the rentals out is a completely different place about a 15 minute drive away, so we had to backtrack after we got to the office and read the sign with the correct address.

Excellent condition, stable and super comfy. The young lady that worked there (didn't capture any names sadly) was just as helpful and sweet. High Society Freeride, STAT!…read more Listen up peeps, if you're in the market for a solid and reasonably priced inflatable paddle board...look no further. High Society Freeride stand up paddle boards (SUP's) are da BEST! We got a couple of Northstar SUP's about three years ago...it was a BOGO so we jumped on them and couldn't be happier! Each of these babies came fully equipped with a paddle, rear fin, ankle leash, repair kit, hand pump and a convenient storage backpack. NOTE: Ours are not the newest "Northstar 2" version...so upgrades include 2-piece collapsible aluminum paddles, new 7" center fin and one smaller 4.5" composite river fin with new "Quick-Clip" attachments. Also, they've upgraded the travel & storage backpack with reinforced stitching and plush padded straps. All that being said...ours still ROCK! We love them, conveniently put them in the back of our vehicle and have taken them on so many fun adventures!
