They will suggest pairings, and give you recipes with which to impress your family and friends. Sometimes they even have foods to sample. I like to put just vinegar (apple, black cherry, or blackberry/ginger) on a salad as a fat-free dressing. For Thanksgiving, I sauté the onion and celery for my dressing/stuffing in their sage and mushroom olive oil for added flavor. One visit and you'll never get your oil or vinegar anywhere else.

So I purchased the rosemary olive oil and lemon white balsamic to mix together for fish and chicken. Amazing pair! There is a seasonal fog flavour that is very good, as well as the lemongrass mint which was surprisingly refreshing The store associate recommended I try putting it in hot water like tea (?!) which sounds very interesting. Three sizes of bottles are available which are filled for you directly from the urns (There is a technical name for these containers, which escapes me at present). For high-quality, fresh imported product, the prices are definitely fair, certainly no more than I would expect to pay at one of the above-mentioned stores. If you are torn, they have a great option of six mini bottles for $30, mix and match vinegars and/or oils. For two bucks more you can have your choices gift boxed. (HINT HINT). We went with the six bottle sampler on our first visit as I simply could not decide. While perusing the wonderful assortment of krauts, kimchi, kombuchka, and beet kvass, Jenn fed me samples of the various krauts as she told me all about the lacto-fermented process that makes them tasty and healthy. While I was deciding which flavors to buy, I was struck by the number of people who came by the booth to pick up what appeared to be a regular purchase or to discuss how well the krauts had gone over at Thanksgiving dinner. I grabbed three jars of kraut to go -- Seaweed, Red Apple Caraway, and Spicy Dill. I had the dill kraut on a turkey sandwich yesterday and it was fabulous. The other two are intended as gifts, but with people who I hope will share them with me in return ;-) For a city with as much German heritage as Cinci, the products served up by this small business should be welcomed with open arms. This is kraut like your ancestors used to make, and is pretty much a lost art these days. How inspiring to see a few young entrepreneurs reviving the culture. Cheers!

I bought the brown bottle with the bright label that said "Fab Ferments". At first, honestly, it was weird. Not only did it foam over the top, but a string of cultures sat on top of the foam and kind of creeped me out. But, once I skimmed that stuff off, I took a sip, and loved it! Since then, I grab a bottle nearly every time I'm at Park+Vine, Findlay Market, City Flea, or any other local event at which I see them. I've had their saurkraut but I'm not much of a fan of the stuff in general, so I never buy it. I've never had their kimchi but I'd like to give it a try someday! Even if you're not a raw vegan, vegan, or vegetarian... give this stuff a try. It's yummy, healthy, and made right in our Queen City!

The cheese was delicious and the fudge was good but not a flavor I would choose again. They had many other flavors I'd love to try though including pumpkin pie, praline, and Payday. On Saturday, May 2, 2026, an employee at Gibbs Cheese & Sausage, at Findlay Market, snatched off…read morehis cap and apron in a rage, and in front of a crowd of customers & co-workers, he used foul language, calling me and my companion c---suckers (an old gay slur that rolled quickly and easily off his tongue) and threatened us with bodily harm. He dramatically stormed the back entrance of his work station to approach us in the common area of the market to "beat our asses." We have since learned that his name is Sid. That's him in the blue cap. Why? Twenty minutes earlier, we'd stood in a long customer line that went all the way back to the next vendor. Sid repeatedly ignored the line by helping random customers who congregated in front of the line. After waiting an inordinate amount of time, he finally worked his way to us, and that's when I decided to call it to his attention. I wasn't rude or nasty; he just didn't like being called out! "Do you want to place an order or not" he says. I ignored his surliness and attempted to place an order. "Just shut up already" he added before I could get my words out. He pushed the final button, and for a hot minute, I sank to his level; we traded profanities and then I left with my companion. We didn't have to think too long to decide that his flagrant display of disrespect was not acceptable. We chose to launch a formal complaint. To show exactly who we were dealing with, we came back to snap his picture. We told him that he didn't get to treat us with such disregard and expect us to spend our money with Gibbs. That's the moment he lost his mind! Before the situation escalated any further, we left the establishment again, this time seeking the assistance of John Bird, the director of Market Operations, at Findlay Market. Mr. Bird assured us that he would talk with Claire and Jeff, the Gibbs owners, but warned that any disciplinary actions would be up to them. Weeks went by, and we decided to reach out to Gibbs ourselves. Over the phone, Jeff acknowledged that he definitely heard from several sources what happened. He gave us a weak apology and tried to justify Sid's behavior. We all have bad days, but there is no justification for Sid's arrogance, anger, and unprofessionalism. We're not of the customer-is-always-right school, but Sid was WRONG! It was an ugly and extremely uncomfortable situation. We shop at the market on a weekly basis, and don't feel as if we have to tip around a powder keg. Perhaps that's how Gibbs feels about their repeat customers. Perhaps that's how they do business these days - a tap on the wrist for ugliness that would've gotten anyone else fired! Yes, we think Sid should be FIRED! Oh, and might I add the employee pictured in the red cap cursed us and royally gave us the middle finger as we walked away. For all of these reasons, we're no longer Gibbs' customers - and Jeff agreed that was a determination we had to make. Now that you know what we experienced, perhaps you will choose to be a former Gibbs customer as well. As easily as it happened to us, it could happen to you!
