There were so many scrumptious choices on the menu that I walked away with 5 drinks for my daughter and I since they were closing at 2 today so I wouldn't be able to come back this evening: Honey Lavender Cold Brew (for now) and White Hot Chocolate (for tonight because Waikoloa is COLD at night) for me and a Vanilla Latte for my daughter while we're sharing the Pink Starburst and Lilikoi Colada energy drinks this afternoon. Service is poor. Of the four workers behind the counter, not one acknowledged we were there. Worker on the register was on her phone while we were standing at the register waiting to order. When she did look at us, no greeting and did not ask us what we would like. She just stood there. At this point my wife and I were the only two in the shop. Came here with my daughters and wasn't impressed with the drinks. My daughter got the matcha, and it tasted like sweet milk with no matcha flavor. I ordered the salted caramel macchiato and it had a very strange taste. The only way I could describe it was a "jalapeño pepper" taste. The pesto sandwich was good tho. read more

On an island famous for its iconic Kona Coffee bean, it's pretty darn important to serve a good cuppa joe, and I'm happy to report that Kohala Coffee holds true to those expectations. Kohala gives you plenty of options on how you'd like your daily java. Standard drip, pourover, cold brew, iced, espresso...lots of variety to suit your need. I went with the pourover method, as it's something I usually prefer whenever it's available, and I was happy with the brew here. One of our group members went for the Dirty Chai option and happily reported that it was "one of the best ever". If this is your jam, it has our seal of approval. To pair with our caffeinated beverages, we browsed their selection of Pastries & Sandwiches and chose a few different options. All of these have a great bun, and are worth getting as well. As a place away from the uber-touristy beach areas, I was happy to find this place for a morning java, and I'm sure you'd be happy too. read more

Walking in here has a chill vibe, it actually reminds me of Greece with all the blue and white stone tones. Big room with lots of seating areas, only one ordering station so o can see this place getting a long line but from what I've seen so far they are fairly organized and move quickly. The music on the overhead speakers or chill island music with the likes of Jack Johnson and some Bruno Mats thrown in the mix. Art canvas pieces fill the white walls and a neon blue quote, "maybe coffee is addicted to me?" Anyways, I recommend the Haupia Latte with coconut milk and coconut shavings and pair it with a sausage egg biscuit (when their oven is working lol). Clean, great menu options and they even have a drive thru! My husband isnt a coffee guy but they have energy drinks (can custom flavor even sugar free options), kona brews including different flavor machiattos. Great coffee spot! Energy drinks were tasty and packed a punch of caffeine. My wife was especially enamored with the POG flavor. Hot chocolate was delicious, creamy and sweet. We had bagels and croissants as well, all in all, a solid little breakfast. The staff was very kind and attentive, happy to offer ice cubes or extra milk to cool down my daughter's hot chocolate. Must've went on an off day. It wasn't even 10am and the place was nearly empty. Most of the menu items were sold out so we were limited on what to select. Someone in my group opted for a regular house coffee, which came super super super hot. Be careful. I got an iced matcha latte. They handed me a hot drink, and I felt bad asking them to remake it. Drinking a hot matcha in 90 degree weather isn't ideal. The taste itself was so sweet it overpowers the matcha, which says a lot. Overall, disappointing, so we won't be coming back. read more

If you're working remote and looking for a cafe in Waikoloa this is pretty much your only choice. Fortunately it's a decent place to work. They have WiFi and the far wall from the entrance has at least 8 receptacles, though the seating near them is sparse (threeish tables). It can get pretty loud so make sure you have noise-cancelling headphones. I'd say the average patron stays here 15-20 minutes max since most are tourists getting coffee before going sightseeing. The chai latte is good and the service is fast and accommodating (they were able to modify my bagel sandwich order to be vegetarian, since there wasn't a veggie sandwich option on the menu). Main things I'd improve is the hours (I think it's soft opening so they close at 2pm, which is kind of rough if you need to work somewhere all day), the side door that slams randomly by wind, and occasional light flicker, but nothing that deterred me from coming back to work here again the very next day. Can't emphasize enough: noise-cancelling headphones will significantly improve your experience if you want to work remote here. For those who drive EVs, chargers are like a 30 second walk away from this location. read more

The shop is very clean and inviting and they even offer board games to play while you are enjoying your drinks or treats.
