Cute little custard and snack shop off the beaten path of the beach. They offer seasonal custard flavors, sundaes, smoothies and grilled foods like hamburgers and hot dogs. I initially wanted a smoothie but couldn't decide on which flavor. Once inside I sampled the Pomeranian Poundcake custard. They only had a small amount so I was able to get a kiddie size. This flavor was so refreshing and delicious. I wish they had a larger size. My family devoured the items they ordered and I hardly got to sample theirs. I got a scoop of almond joy on a waffle cone. It was delicious and about $4.50 which I thought wasn't bad. I will say for their "hard scoop" it was a little melty when they handed it to me, but tasty nonetheless! read more

First time encountering a place that sells frozen custard. My boyfriend told me the main difference btw ice cream and custard is the custard is creamier due to having more dairy. A quick google search taught me the addition of egg yolks is what gives custard its extra creaminess and makes it different from ice cream. I really liked my scooped custard. I was able to choose 2 flavors to put in a kids cup. The elephant stomp (chocolate ice cream with peanut butter cups) and bday cake options really hit the spot. My boyfriend got the vanilla soft serve custard which was just ok. I couldn't really discern any real vanilla taste. You can't go wrong with custard!! I ordered the vanilla custard with m&ms. The portion sizes are generous. The custard is smooth and less rich than Rita's custard. Service was quick, and the staff were kind. There are not tables inside the store, however, there are tables outside. read more

Ya'll!! The Biscuit Sensei is back and he's at Kohl's on weekends. If you were a fan of Rolled and Baked on Castle Street this is where you need to head to get your weekend biscuit fix. Some friends and I went for a channel swim and decided to grab some coffee afterwards. As we were outside on the patio soaking up the sun we saw a sign for a beautiful looking biscuit. We decided to drop in and see what they had since none of us knew they did biscuits. Much to my surprise and delight I found out that the guy who made the biscuits at Rolled and Baked is now at Kohl's and man, they do not disappoint. My son ordered the chicken and cheese, I ordered a sausage, egg, and cheese for my husband, and I ordered the fall special- country ham which I omitted, egg, cheddar cheese, and homemade apple butter on a sweet potato biscuit. Each biscuit comes with a hashbrown. The biscuits are so good! Light and fluffy and just delicious. The apple butter is sweet and offsets the sharpness of the cheddar. It's a really well done biscuit and even though I'm hungry I can't finish the whole thing. I used to love Kohl's when they were all over town and I'm happy to see this location is still here. I know the review is for breakfast but they have some great custard too! The flavors change on a daily basis so they always have something new. Great staff, super sweet and friendly. Took a chance and tried this custard joint and was not disappointed! Despite the negative comments about pricing, I thought it was very appropriate for the portions and location. You are at the beach, so rent will be higher, therefore prices will be higher. The small was ~$6, but came in a very large cup, I definitely could've gotten the kids size. The flavor options though few, are very unique and tasted amazing! Service was welcoming, however, parking is a hot mess. Definitely will be returning though, as they offer great creamy frozen custards and unique flavors! read more

Yum, what a tasty little frozen custard shop. We came in around 8pm on a Thursday and only waited for a small group before us. The staff was friendly and fast. I got the Peanut butter Log signature sundae. So good with plenty of peanuts, chocolate and peanut sauce. My hubby got the Bertha hurricane with butterfinger and really liked it. Definitely felt like a tourist trap location. Prices were a little high for the portion size (and I'm used to California prices). All the food we tried was excellent. Vegans/vegetarians - the veggie burger is delicious. It was that perfect fast food vibe. The sweet potato waffle fries are delicious. My husband said his double cheeseburger was very hot and fresh. We went back for frozen custard and it is truly amazing. I had a waffle cone with peanut butter & jelly custard, and he got a large cup of elephant stomp (chocolate custard with Reese's cups). These were two of the four special flavors available this week. Their burger meal is really good for the price - a big patty with all the classic toppings, a large (refillable) drink, and some really good fries. I often sub out the drink for an Oreo shake and when I don't, I make sure to get a kiddy cup of custard on the side because it is absolutely divine. My favorites have to be the strawberry soft serve, or if I'm feeling it, the strawberry shortcake sundae. The staff there are super super friendly and incredibly efficient at cutting through the busy beach crowd. It's very clear that they love their jobs! Convenient little spot on Wrightsville Beach for when you want something sweet after being at the beach. I ordered one of the 2 flavors of the day, French Kiss, which was a kahlua custard with chocolate flakes and chocolate swirl. It sounded really good but didn't have much flavor. It just tasted like vanilla custard with Hershey syrup in it. I didn't get any kahlua flavor and barely any chocolate flakes. I wish they had more flavors or fun mix ins. My sister ordered the fries and they were really good! They were hot and salty but also a little sweet. They also went well with the custard. read more

Big fan of Kohl's Custard. We went 4 times in 4 days. It is really awesome custard. One of my favorite things is that they have new flavors often. We had to keep going back because they kept updating their flavors. The only downside is they don't have any flavors that are always available, so sometimes you may not find any flavors that you like. The service was great, super friendly and helpful. The price was pretty decent too for the quality and the amount. We don't visit often, but when we do I always look forward to this. read more

I'm currently very happily drooling over a huge sundae from Kohl's. This is the way ice cream should be... creamy and flavorful! For $6 I got a very generously-sized sundae complete with all the fixings I could've asked for. The only reason my review didn't hit 5 stars is because there were only 3 flavors of ice cream in the case to choose from, all of them very rich and containing chocolate, which would have been a huge bummer for me if I wasn't in a chocolate mood. This being said, they also had a freezer full of pints to go in a variety of other flavors, as well as some other interesting looking goodies (bake at home biscuits, for example). We were walking around Wilmington and passed Kohl's and had to stop in for a summer treat. It is right next to the Trolley Stop and by Wings. I am accustomed to the custard in the Jersey Boardwalk and am still trying to find a place in NC that serves soft custard like they do in the Garden State. This place comes close and we had a chocolate vanilla twist. The flavor was creamy and a small was a little over $3. They prefer cash too instead of credit card. The staff swears the blue shirts and were friendly. It is a great location and a good place to cool off and enjoy some custard. read more

YUM!!! This is the perfect casual spot by the beach. This is not a fancy place but if you want a no frills, cheap, and easy dinner - this is the place. Stopped in here, but was sorely disappointed. The flavor of the day was "red raspberry" which I tried, but it had absolutely no flavor. Didn't even taste like vanilla. Was just cold and mildly sweet. I waited in line for 15 minutes and the guy in front of me ordered a burger meal and 2 hot dogs. I then went to order a chicken sandwich and they told me the grill was closed. A real restaurant would not turn away people who are in their restaurant ready to order food. I work in a restaurant and we would stay for 3+ hours if someone stayed in our store after closing. My wife and I stayed near here on a little weekend getaway. We decided to give the burgers a shot one night and try the ice cream as long as we were there.
