Major salute to Naveed. I was being that unbearable customer who was holding up the line. Part of it wasn't my fault. The store switched around some things so the price scanners are nowhere to be found on the first floor, and even one fitting room is closed. So I was trying to calculate and scan everything via the app and stay on budget. Now imagine that plus having a gift card and Kohl's cash and determined to stay within a particular price range. There were definitely a couple of "take this off, ring that instead" and "try this, but not that." He was patient, polite and even cracked a couple of jokes while I was trying to figure this out. (I did point a customer to the ACTUAL line post so she wouldn't be breathing over my neck. I get the impression cashiers always want to do this, but they don't feel like being the bad guy. Still a mystery why some customers want to stand so close to strangers.) But Naveed not only let me figure out how to stay on budget but I had the audacity to get BACK IN LINE after transferring funds to buy something else. Poor guy. I thought he was going to try to figure out how to take a lunch break, but he was still just as upbeat the second time. I made sure to get his name so I could compliment him SPECIFICALLY. Kudos to him. He'd be solid in management, if that's an option and he desires it. Also, Kohl's has an amazing selection of jeans and brands I NEVER thought would fit me. I was super bummed out when JLo stopped selling her jeans. She was my go-to, and all of her jeans fit. I thought I'd be in Kohl's for hours trying to find a substitute. When you have me ready to go to WALMART rather than spend any money here... instead I'll write my review in the parking lot to urge you not to come. The trip here pretty much started off poorly from the time I entered. I had an Amazon return which I brought to Kohl's; next time I may just pay for the box and whatever I need so I can return it at a UPS store. The item I had was very awkwardly shaped and somewhat heavy, and I used auto opening door to get in. There are two sets of doors before you're in the store and though the button outside the store that opens the doors worked, the one between the two sets of doors did not. It wasn't even one of those stupid doors that requires the door behind you to shut before you can open the next one, because I did that and it didn't open. Luckily there was a group of carts just inside the store. I got in line at the register where it said checkout and returns. Of course once I get to the cashier I'm told I have to go upstairs, because that's where Amazon returns go. Perhaps update your sign? I was pointed to the elevator in the corner, and headed over. It was almost as far away from the west entrance to the store as one could get, which isn't a problem for me but as I passed the north entrance of the store, I saw its marked emergency exit only with a couple cones in front of it. So to recap: Disabled folks may not be able to get into the west entrance (unless the door was just being moody when I was trying to use it) and they also can't use the north entrance that's steps away from the elevator because that entrance is an emergency only exit? Kohl's is actively discouraging disabled folks from visiting their store. I was in here for 10 minutes and couldn't wait to get out. read more

I recently had a return for an Amazon purchase and was a little dismayed to not see my local Kohl's as a return option on line. I had to return the item at a Amazon Hub instead which was rather inconvenient on two counts. Even though the store is further away than the hub, for some reason it takes more time to get there. And secondly, I like to combine my return with some shopping at Kohls. The Amazon rep at the hub tried to explain that Kohls isn't taking every return any more (?) but at best the explanation was vague. But I believe the upshot is this; because of this irrational policy, Kohls is missing out on customers who opportunistically shop when returning Amazon items. And apparently when I asked her about it, yeah Amazon rep agreed with me, saying that several customers had expressed the same dissatisfaction. Hopefully corporate will see that they are ignoring a serendipitous chance at promotion and change their policy. read more

This Kohl's has truly been mutilated by human beings. Unfortunately, customers with large families tend to utilize this place as an arcade playground: toys as their remote controllers; panties and bras as their DDR machines. However, for the convenience of the location, I'm still a regular. I like their clothes for work purposes, especially when the company you work for has a specific dress code to follow (navy, black, gray, and white shirts allowed ONLY). Kohl's seems to have those colors abundantly. I was able to find the mock-layer shirt/sweater combo at Kohl's, which I've not seen this style resurfacing since my high school ages back in early 2000s. Unfortunately, they didn't have the size and color I desired. It's notorious to track down a sales associate at Kohl's, as many of you know. Therefore, I will possibly travel to another Kohl's in the near future so that I can use my pick-your-day 15 percent off coupon by November 6th. I found some k-cups, as they are running the BOGO 50 percent off sale. I wish they had the variety pack, like Bed, Bath and Beyond would have in store. Well, for the most part, I'm content with what Kohl's has. Kohl's always is my alternative choice for household items when I'm lacking BBB coupons. Cashiers at Kohl's are always friendly. The amount of traffic they deal with on a daily basis is ridiculous! With their generous return policy, people always line up in front of the customer service counter to return unwanted merchandize. I used to shop here all the time due to their 10-30% off ads but the last time I went I received absolutely no discounts and the worst customer service by a manager I have ever had. There was no explanation as to why all the brands I used to get discounts on were no longer available and when I asked her name to report her to corporate she ran away hiding her name badge and then called security on me. I believe they are going bankrupt but for being a previously loyal customer I found this the absolute bottom barrel of customer service I have ever received. I have studiously avoided Kohl's, in all shapes, sizes and forms, in all locations, after relatives visited Kohl's in NW Indiana and told me that it was like Wal-Mart, only without the charm and high-class customers. Yeeooww!! But it was early on the day after Christmas, I was driving down McCormick Boulevard, and I wanted gloves and slippers for myself. I saw Kohl's. I shopped. And I realized that this Kohl's was a decent, well -organized department store. This Kohl's actually reminded me of a suburban Marshall Field's store -- that's a good thing, millennials. Neat, clean, organized. Clear signage. Prices easy to find on every item. And 50% discounts on the items I wanted. Since I work when 9-5's are off, and vice versa, I had no problem with parking or crowds. I realize that my experience might not be duplicated on the weekends. My visit to Kohl's was successful. Although better than the other department stores in the vicinity, this isn't one of the better Kohls. I'm struggling to figure out how to make, Kohl's, plural. This location gets a very different clientele than other Kohl'ses, the shoppers here give it a sort of impoverished, untamed, post-Armageddon ambiance. The jumbled, tossed and tousled piles of merchandise are ignored by the skeleton crew staffing the place, it feels like the place was abandoned but there wasn't time to close up. I do fantasize about being the protagonist in a post-apocalyptic dystopian movie, "The Kohl's that time forgot," and some of the unsupervised children running amok really could have been sent up by central casting. read more

The store is frustrating, disorganized, displays overwhelmed with stock cluttered and you never know what the price is, even if it does have a tag! And a lot of stuff is misplaced sans tag, in the wrong department because labels like "Clothing, Jewelry, shoes" in organized sections are taken as suggestions to be ignored by staff and shoppers. It's a lot like gambling. I was not gambling, I had a goal from reading an article in Lucky magazine and it listed a cute necklace as LC by Lauren Conrad. Remember MTV reality shows of yore? Yeah, her. Shut up. It's a clean but delicate rose gold necklace. It is now mine. I expect Kohls to be catering to a Minivan Mom type... But this necklace could not be purchased online so here, punishingly, I went. There is a TON of space and it is chaotic: random shoe on the rack above little stud earrings? No idea why. The clothing is very Grandma pastels for going to the casino. I did find the necklace I wanted, only one, of course it looks very chic and sleek and I went to the register- because the store was such a mess I (yes moi) had no inclination to shop shoes or clothes. Even housewares. I love cooking but had no drive to seek any of it. I wanted to escape the mess but of course, first pay at the register. Where a nice fellow was trying to buy socks and the salesperson couldn't figure out how to remove the security tags. Argument followed. And continued. It never looks good to be stuck behind a scene so I looked, and with multiple registers adjacent to the jewelry counter- none appeared to have power or be staffed. So I waited. The argument continued. It is possible I could Winona Ryder'd the security tag off his socks, figured out how to power on a register, pay whatever the hell the balance is due (because the tags lie, it is less, you just don't know how much) and while I would have paid for the fella's socks, still would've gotten out at light speed compared to this. Poor guy left without the socks. I was determined, having made it this far to make a purchase of this single necklace. I finally get my turn. I finally get to pay. I saved five bucks off the price tag and really don't care what the percent is because it wasn't worth the time. They are out of bags. I say: "That's ok, A box maybe?" No, no boxes- Here is your receipt so no one thinks you stole it. Wow. Yes, a winner here y'all. I suspect this is the store character altogether- hostile, unwilling to put forth minimum effort to move product or even communicate by labeling products with tags to accomplish the lofty goal of selling it. read more

I have never been a fan of Kohl's. This one put the icing on the cake. Every single Kohl's that I have ever been at is run by a skeleton crew. For a store of that size/ magnitude it is amazing that they usually only have 2 people working per floor. Finding anyone to assist you is a joke. I've also noticed that because of their lack of staff, the stores are always in a disarray. We were there during a dead time, early, and even so, this store did not look as if it had been straightened since a year ago. Clothes were off hangers or on the floor..and one of my biggest pet peeves...none of the merchandise was properly displayed, spaced or sized. That's the retailer in me. We checked out their toy section, and wow...someone must have stepped on a land mine before we arrived. It looked worse than Toys R'Us during Christmas. Tons of empty spaces, toys strewn on the floor, packages ripped open, books with pages torn, and tons of leftover merchandise with Halloween and Christmas themes. My little one loves animated toys and spotted a dozen dancing snowmen. Hah! Not a one worked. In fact every battery operated toy that we tested that had batteries did not work. It's pretty amazing and telling when you bring your 2 year old to a toy store, tell them before hand that they can pick out 1 toy...and they tell you, "No thanks Mama, these toys are old, I want brand new." read more

Kohl's is often my go to store when I need a dress for work, a casual outfit, or a new top. I can usually find something on sale relatively easy, and with Kohl's cash or a coupon on their website, I always get a great deal. Today, thinking of their usually nice selection of Vera Wang, Apt 21 and a few other designer dresses, I stopped in to get a dress for a special event at work next week. I was very frustrated to see the women's section in total disarray. Clothes were everywhere except where they should have been, and usually the individual designers had designated racks that are labeled so you can easily browse. Not today. Clothes were hanging anywhere and everywhere! And the dressing room! Empty rooms had unwanted clothes left in them, some even on the floor! I realize it's lazy shoppers who just leave unwanted garments anywhere, but isn't that what the salespeople are for? Speaking of salespeople, there were none to be found. I wasn't expecting service or assistance like I receive at higher end department stores, but some help would have been nice. There were two cashiers, but they had a line so I knew they wouldn't be able to help me. I was short on time, and it took me twice as long to find things that I might be interested in. No organization in designers, clothing types, or sizes! Total disarray!! It gave me a headache. I did finally find a cute Vera Wang dress (out of place), normally $58 on sale for $29, and with a coupon it was under $24. So I was happy for that. The line was long and they eventually called two more cashiers to help out. My cashier was really nice and even apologized for the wait. I expressed frustration with the sloppy state of the 1st floor, and she said it had been that way all day. Were they short staffed? I don't know, but it really affected my impression and made me think twice about Kohl's being my go to department store. Get it together, Kohl's! read more

Okay, so let's preface this: I worked at Kohl's when I was younger, for a year. It was great back then, and probably the best place to work for my age. Since then? I don't know. I would definitely suggest nobody ever comes to the Lincolnwood Kohl's. I've had a better experience at plenty of other Kohls. Where do we begin? We begin at a register where someone who is proudly wearing a badge stating they've been employed for a year. This woman is probably the rudest woman I have ever seen, and full of attitude. Maybe she just saw me as some snappy cracker coming through trying to, you know, be polite and buy things? So we have a gift registry. Does she know how to put things on it? No. We ask for gift boxes. What does she proudly proclaim? "Oh, we don't have that". Now I've worked there before, I know where the boxes are, and for her to say that was stunning. They are literally at her knees at the register, right in front of her. So we go to customer service to get the items added to the gift registry after purchase...customer service is at least polite, even if they are so retarded that they don't even know how to do it. Really, do you have to call corporate to figure out how to put items on the gift registry? It isn't that hard. However, I don't really find that *that* bad cause at least that girl knew where to look to find her answers. This Kohl's is also horribly maintained. To call it decrepit would be an understatement. Things are lying all over, there aren't enough carts for everyone, and things seem to be opened/broken all over the place. Maybe Kohls doesn't even know this store exists? Finally, one girl at the end gets the gift boxes for us from under the register when it all gets wrapped up. She was honest and knew what she was doing. So unless you get this one girl, I don't know her name, I feel sorry for you for coming to this kohls. read more

Kohl's customer satisfaction survey did not offer an opportunity to let the store know about an unsatisfactory experience I had at its Lincolnwood store. I usually do not shop in the store, but had ordered something online and returned it at the store. I decided to take a look around the store and noticed a sale on women's underwear. I went to purchase 2 items. The first was a set (2 pair with one tag) of underwear from Bali on one double hangar. The other item was a single piece. One of the items was to be for half off. The bill was quite a bit higher than I had expected. The clerk had scanned the one tag with the two connected items twice. So I was paying $52 for two pair of garden variety underwear (it was not shapewear) when the tagged price was supposed to be $26 for the two pair. I chose not to purchase them. I asked a sales clerk on the floor about the pricing; she wasn't sure so she went to get someone. This person went to check as well. It turns out that the two items were supposed to be charged as one, just like the tag said. The sales manager or clerk went on to justify the situation saying that "we get them at the store that way." Yes -- and it has ONE TAG so it should be scanned ONCE. Rather than leave it at that, she went on to defend the clerk because she was behaving according to policy. I never disputed that. What was in question was Kohl's policy of telling a clerk to scan a pair of items with one ticket twice. It would have been appropriate for the clerk to at least let me know that the issue would be dealt with so that the "policy" would be changed. Instead, she went on to say that underwear is expensive. I know very well how expensive it is. But $26 for one pair of regular, plain underwear is excessive, unless you're on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. I know this because I lived there for many years. Kohl's carries name brand designers - not the kind you generally find in an exclusive boutique. To top it off, the sign posted was so confusing that it was not apparent which items were a part of the sale. Thus, I never did get the deal offered because the other item I'd purchased didn't match another one I had wanted to buy. Clearly, Kohls' policies and training for its associates could use an update. Never in all my years of shopping have I seen a clerk scan a pair of items that had only one tag twice. I wonder how many other people have been overcharged at Kohl's because of this incorrect policy. All I know is that I will not be one of them. It isn't because a mistake was made - it was because the sales manager deemed it necessary to engage in a form of public humiliation that was completely unnecessary and inappropriate. Based upon this experience, I will not be making any more purchases at Kohl's - online or off. What I experienced in this store the other day was simply unacceptable. read more

I normally shop at the Kohl's in Bucktown which I love but when I'm in Lincolnwood, I sometimes stop in at this location. Every time I do visit this store it's disorganized and understaffed. On my most recent visit, the check out line was very long and there was only one register open. I got out of line to search for another checkout which I found on the other side of the floor. That checkout was closed. I then went to the second floor and was able to check out in a relatively short period of time. I returned to the first floor to exit the store and the same people that were in line were still waiting. I will never return to this location. read more

Does Kohls know this store is still here? I was there today and it was depressing. I wouldn't say the store was messy or the employees were rude. The store just seemed apathetic. The selection was pretty limited and things are not displayed nicely. The are just sort of crammed on racks which makes it very hard to shop. The atmosphere did not inspire me in any way to dig through to see what was available. Shirts and tops are on hangers that say one size, but the item is a different size. The jeans, for men and women, are totally haphazard. My wife was looking at the tights which are, frankly, a mess! She gave up. I asked where we could get a cart and the employee, again not rudely, told me I might find one by a door. So we had to walk around and around looking for a cart! Then walk around and around looking for the elevator to take the (finally) found cart upstairs. There a sign saying 'elevator' in one corner, with an arrow pointing ahead. The elevator is tucked, literally, in a corner without so much as a sign saying it's there. The aisles in the actual departments are so small that passing through them with the cart was very difficult. It didn't feel like anyone was unhappy working there. More like they just "do". I don't know how to explain it, its just dullness and apathy there. We bought nothing, despite my wife's coupon for an additional 15% off everything. I do have to say though, my wife commented that the fitting room (which also took forever to find!) was immaculate. At 3:30ish on a Sunday, that is pretty good. I went to the store before Christmas to exchange a pair of slippers. After standing in a line tondo the exchange and pay the difference I was told because I don't have the receipt, I needed to go to the second floor, customer service. It wasn't busy and I was pleased with the person that assisted me. However for a 7.00 pair of shoes that I was returning, I had to get a Corporate refund. Now I know it's my fault that I didn't hang on to the receipt but at the same time, if I am going to buy another pair, if I was permitted to do the exchange KOHLS would make 10.00 off of the return, what's the big deal? You know how stores will send out coupons by email or put them in papers, but then when you try to use them, "It's "oh it doesn't include sale merchandice. and nothing with a yellow dot, nothing that is labeled a SUPER DEAL! and nothing that faces southwest in the displays!" I've had very good experiences with the customer service desk here, even during the holidays. I've had one bad cashier experience, but I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and say she was just inexperienced. The shoe department is another story. It ALWAYS looks as though wild animals had been let loose in it minutes before you got there. The store draws a shoe-frenzied customer base that has very different ideas of how to behave in a store than I do. Last week I discovered that the pair of shoes I'd bought was giving me blisters; turns out someone had put a normal width into a wide width box. They finish the transaction and hand you your receipt and turn around and walk away... there's no, here you go you're all set, or a thanks, at least a damn thanks! Ugh, soooo annoying. I would like to share my experience with Kohl's. I've never really shopped there but my bf loves kohl's so I gave it a try. Purchased some things in the store and online. My online order came and the sports bra didn't fit. Went to the store to exchange for a larger size or a different one. I was told they didn't carry it in the store, I asked for a store credit so I can purchase a different one in the store and was told it would only be for 2.68 since I received kohl's cash from the purchase. I was so confused. I paid 17.50 plus tax but I get 2.68, she told me I could purchase a larger one online and come back and exchange. More confusion but I went to kiosk only to find out they don't have a large in any color. I ask for a manager at this point. Again this is my first and LAST shopping experience with Kohl's after the manager also refused to even let me purchase something of greater value to exchange. His words were it has to be different color or size, which kohl's did not have at any store or online so how is that fair. I took my 2.68 because I can't use the sport bra and I will never shop there again. The worst service in the world. I went to exchange a men's pair or pants for a smaller size. I went to a register and said I needed to exchange the pants the gentalman at the rigister said you need to go to the second floor to costomer service. I went up to return the pants the lady said you need to find the pants you want and do an exchange and go to any register. They did not have those pants in a smaller size so I picked up a different pair of underarmor jogger pants for men with a displayed sticker of $39.99. I went to a register after waiting in line they said its not the same brand you have to costomer service return those and purches the ones you want. The pants I want are ringing up at $55.00 when they were clearly on a stand that said $39.99. The costomer service calls someone they come up with different pants a s tell me these are on sale. NOT THOSE. I went back to where I picked up the pants to make sure I didnt overlook the item. There are 15 pairs of the same pants on the stand with an advertised price of $39.99.. What a joke they made me run around with a 18 month old baby all over the store and I still walked out without the pants. Not one person representing Khols once said I am sorry. Not one person once said let me see what you are looking for. No ampathy from anyone that works these.. I will never step a foot into this store. They need a class in costomer service. read more

Stopped into Kohl's in Lincolnwood the other night and experienced pretty much what I've come to expect from this location. The good news is that since there's nearly always markdowns on everything, prices seldom bear any resemblance to what's on the tag. The bad news is that the prices seldom bear any resemblance to what's on the tag. Every time I have gone to this store, its a train wreck! Clothes in the men's section are strewn about the racks and even on the floor. Other departments seem to be the same or worse. I don't think anyone in this store takes any pride at all. Its not just appearance where this is an issue, however. Like I said above, the prices on the tags bear no resemblance to the price of the items since everything is always marked down. Since nothing is organized and clothes are strewn about, finding your size, color, style, etc. is an exercise in frustration. Then, once you do find something you like, you get to the register and find out that it was in the wrong place and isn't the lower price that the sign above the items clearly stated. This is true even though there might have been multiple of the same item under the sign. This happened on this evening. After spending an hour rummaging through the racks and trying things on, I had 5 items and one of them apparently was 'new stock' and didn't qualify for the discount of items under the sale sign (even though new and old was on the same rack). I honestly think its bait and switch or there's a philosophy in the corporate office that people will miss an item or two that came up at full price within their armful of purchases. The management at the store is awful. When asked about the clothing all over the place, misplaced signs, stock unloaded under signs that don't apply, etc. all he said was its not his fault that the items shouldn't have been under that sign. Sorry, 'Noman' (manager's name), I'm not going to pay for that kind of treatment. Luckily, Kohls has a competitor at the other end of the mall with similar brands and superior organization. I stepped down, spent 1/2 the time looking through their better organized stock, and was out of the store in about 20 minutes with similar items. The best part, the one item that Kohls was trying to screw me on, was on-sale for the same price as it was advertised at Kohls. I'll never be back. read more

Not much of a selection compared to the other Kohls. Staff busy talking to each other or working on stocking.

I wish the t-shirt I just purchased was somewhat folded neatly instead of just thrown into the bag. But that's too much to ask for I suppose, this is Kohl's Lincolnwood, so I can't expect too much. The checkout register people only seem nice to you if you open up a Kohl's credit card account. read more

I have to say, I'm pretty surprised by the negative reviews for this store. I always have such good luck here and have not found the issues that others have describer's store and parking lot can get really crowded so I like to go on weekends when they first open. I find it is at its most organized and quiet. They have really upped the fashion quotient here at Kohl's. They have Narciso Rodriguez, Rock & Republic, Jennifer Lopez and Lauren Conrad -all with some really cute stuff for work. I typically wait for the 30% off coupon to come in the mail then I go make a killing! I cannot even believe the deals I find -really nice quality stuff on clearance racks for like $15-20. It's super ridiculous. So, my experience has been really good and I love the deals I get. So for a super thrifty diva who wants good stuff for cheap, I love the thrill of the clearance rack. This Kohl's store is one step ahead of the rest. The staff is friendly beyond belief. There is almost always someone working in each section and if not, go to the customer service counter. They are incredible. Kohl's actually helped be re-establish my credit. It may sound crazy but charging a little on my Kohl's and paying it off regularly has helped raise my credit score. In addition to that, this Lincolnwood store is wonderful. read more
