Naruto rolls crunchy spicy tuna and tuna avocado roll. Other rolls are sweet potato and Double Double Roll
    Francesca C.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Packed on an early Saturday evenings.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was quick. Sushi was fresh. I really like that there's a Naruto option for all the rolls and that there's a price listed as an extra $3. There's no guessing of how much everything is going to be.

My coworker Shingo's parents used to own this spot. I happened to be in the area one day and stopped in to give it a try. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cozy & warm.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff were very friendly and helpful in helping me to make my choice. I chose the Chirashi bowl because I wanted a variety of fish. Great choice because it was delicious. Fish was super fresh. The rice was the perfect temperature. I'd definitely recommend if you're in the area. 9-28-2025

We came here to celebrate birthday and we all had a great time. Service is great and friendly. Appetizers are delicious and sushi and sashimi are fresh and tasty. The presentation looks promising too. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We enjoy sitting at cozy tatami area and we feel like we were in Japan![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Love it.

Haven't been to this venue in 20 years..used to be my go to Sushi place back then. My daughter Jenn wanted to revisit so we met for lunch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were transported back in time to a cozy, comfortable restaurant run by friendly folks who had the freshest best selection of fish![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had Ebi sushi with tempura heads, belly hamachi and sake.. both like butta!! For dessert we both had uni with quail egg Mmmmm!! All accompanied by sake... Def recommend Koiso..check my video of the chefs butchering blue fin tuna.. the toro was outstanding!!!

It is a hidden gem in Long Island. The owner is Japanese although sushi chef is not. The quality is unbelievable with great value for money. For entrees, we ordered Chirashi $30, Kaisen Don $48 and premium box $50. All raw fish is super fresh. Each entree has good varieties of fish and amazing presentation. Now it is my new go-to place when I want to eat good quality of sushi/ sashimi. One last note, the restaurant charges 3% credit card fee. Bring cash if you don't want to pay extra fee.

Great service and hidden gem in Carle Place. Sushi is always fresh and curry is on point. Order all the appetizers and that can be a meal in itself. My son loves this place for the shrimp tempura and the sauce. He claims you can dip anything in it. He made his own review about it. lol.

Came here today for Lunch and wow is all I can say. The fish is so fresh and the rice is that perfect temperature and sweetness. The Sushi lunch special was perfect! Five pieces and a roll for 12 dollars cannot be beat. I stepped out of my comfort zone since everything was so great and tried the Yellowtail Collar. Absolutely delicious and highly recommend. Grilled perfectly and served with Ponzu, Radish and Lemon. I drank at the Sushi Bar while nibbling on Yellowtail and I 10/10 recommend you try it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe was also very relaxed and the service was top notch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Making this my go to Sushi place from now on.

Had dinner with family. Tried new items, all delicious. Curry is one of the best in the island, pork is crispy hot. Fish on our sashimi box special and the sashimi sushi special were fresh and melt in mouth good. Everything was great, my girls were happy. Will be back again. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Sat on the traditional raised floor table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] One of few Japanese sushi restaurants in the area. Good lunch specials too.

This place was fantastic, definitely a hidden gem. The staff were courteous and friendly, and refilled water constantly. The food was great, very authentic, and tasted delicious. I have no complaints. I would warn you that the food comes out very hot, so wait a little before trying to eat things like soup and the curry! I was able to cut the Pork Katsu with the provided spoon, so I think it's great! [[HIGHLIGHT]]They give you half Americanized seating, half traditional Japanese sitting which I think is fantastic.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I just had the best sushi of my life! Koiso is the best place ever! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's an older place which matches the decor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It has 4 non-private tatami rooms on one side, and tables with chairs and benches along the other.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The sushi bar was in the back. The service was excellent. Everyone was so friendly. The owner even came over and spoke to us for awhile. K, you are the sweetest man. It was so cute when his wife came over to him to tell him it was time to do the dishes. The food was incredible. The fish was so fresh, it literally melted in my mouth. The tuna was a deep red and beautiful. All the cuts of fish, which anywhere else is cut to about 1/8" thick, was cut double that - and it still melted in my mouth. I've always wanted to try uni, and tonight was the night. It was wonderful. At $8 a piece, it was still the best price I've ever seen. Very mild and oyster-like. We were 4 people and we ate well. Prices were reasonable. See specific dishes in pictures. I missed the pictures of the fried oysters and the special quail egg sushi that my friend surprised me with because I'll try anything. Even though it's in Carle Place - far enough from Old Country Road to get parking easily - we will travel from Merrick to go there again and again. And again.

Good Night for Cold Sake - Kanpai! Cheers!

Amidst a sea of so-called "Asian Fusion" eateries recently opened in the area, Koiso's authentic Japanese food and ownership really stand out. Family owned for many years with yummy food, homey decor and comfy seating. Today we had lunch at Koiso after a several year hiatus, and found that their service and food are even better than before. The lunch set, a bargain at $19.95, gives diners a choice of four sushi entrees, a small salad with fresh ginger dressing, plus a full size bowl of tanuki udon. The udon was so delicious with its slightly sweet broth, tempura flakes and plump noodles. We both chose the five piece nigiri sushi as entree course, every piece was fresh and tender. We were hungry so ordered a couple of extra appetizers too. Koiso's version of age dashi tofu was among the best I've ever had, lightly fried with a thin coating nestled in a tasty broth and topped with chopped green onions. Excellent shumai dumplings were made with savory shrimp filling encased in delicate dough. For Yelpers who may have had a so so experience at Koiso in the past, please give them another try for improved "omotenashi" service and yummy family style Japanese cuisine. Free street parking in front as well as a small lot in the back. I can't wait to return and try their other sushi and cooked dishes!

This is one of the few truly authentic Japanese restaurants in the area. My family and I have been coming here for years. Sushi is always fresh and presentations are truly pieces of art. We came here last week for dinner. The restaurant was busy. We were seated right way. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We decided to try the special tatami seating area. It is hard for most Americans to sit this way and most people have their legs fall asleep. We really enjoyed eating in the traditional way.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our waitress was very attentive and professional. She constantly checked to see how we were doing. We ordered Omakase (9 pieces of sushi chefs daily specia5l selection plus tuna roll), chefs special sushi/ sashimi and pork katsu curry. Everything was delicious and the presentation was wonderful. The owner and his wife are very friendly and have owned this restaurant for over 30 years. There is plenty of parking in the back of the restaurant. It is always great to eat here. We will be coming back again soon.

How many courses or nigiri bites come for Omakase? I tried calling and the person I spoke with was unsure and it seemed like a busy time to ask further as it was dinner time.

Is the Omakase only served all at the same time, platter style? Or can it be served one at a time, paced to the guest?

Sushi Omakase served at the same time . If you sit down to sushi bar . You can ask sushi chef to served one .

You may have to keep calling the employees over for service and to guide them through your order here. We had to request glasses of water for our table twice and we had a thirsty toddler with us. Once we were ready with our order we had to wait again until I went over to the bar to ask for someone to come over so we can put our order in. Once the order was placed the food came out on a timely manner but we had to remind the waiter we ordered two drinks from the bar. The waiter gaslighted us and said we did not place drink orders. He must have noticed our facial expressions at this point since we were upset by the disappointing service we were dealing with from the moment we sat down. The restaurant is medium sized, lots of booths, and was decorated for Valentine's Day. They take reservations and were pretty busy. Service was good, although a little slow at the beginning. I tried the following dishes: Cauliflower Manchurian (3/5): This dish was pretty good, but not amazing. I did enjoy it. Garlic Chili Noodles (3.5/5): Pretty good noodles, not very spicy but good flavor and consistency. Hakka Chili Chicken (4/5): I liked this chicken, but my dining partner did not. The chicken was boneless dark meat, which I really like. You can get it with no, light, or full gravy. We did full and had it with rice. I did enjoy this dish. Overall, I had a pretty good experience at HAKA. No dishes were real standouts, but they were all decent. It is not a bad option for Indo-Chinese in the area.

The menu has both indian and chinese dishes. It's not fusion just two different cuisines being sold. We ordered a roll that came with shrimp tempura, mango and salmon. It was very good, a warm grill that felt like a sandwich. The side galore noodles we ordered were dry and not very flavourful. We ordered shrimp with then and they came with fried/tempura shrimp, which we found odd. There was also egg on the dish but it did nothing for the noodles. We ordered the noodles regular so they should have had some sauce but there was none. The chicken dishes were both really good. The chicken wasn't overly fried or breaded. It tasted fresh and had a good bite to it. I like the spicy garlic chicken a bit more because of the spice. The haka chicken was more of a sweet and salty flavor. Both were tasty. If I'm in the area I'll come back here.

Long Island Restaurant Week win!…read more My best friend and I came here for Jade Eatery & Lounge during Long Island Restaurant Week and WOW -- everything was so delicious. The prix fixe menu gave us so much food. Every course came out beautifully presented, full of flavor, and honestly more than enough to leave us satisfied (and then some). From the starters to the entrées and dessert, everything tasted fresh, well-seasoned, and thoughtfully prepared. The vibe is perfect for a night out -- stylish, relaxed, and great for conversation. This was a girls' night, but I already know I'll be back for a date night with my husband. It's that kind of place. The food is probably one of the worst Asian fusion places I've had and I honestly feel like all of the money goes into presentation instead of actual quality. I've been here a few times and for some reason, have been around people that ordered takeout from here a few times so I've given them a chance more times than I should have and they have never delivered. The drinks are okay, definitely another one of those "presentation heavy" style drinks for some simple cocktails but I wont fault them for that. The real problem here is the food. I've ordered a few of their noodle dishes and it's honestly impressive how they manage to avoid having any flavor in their dishes. Like, I dont even know how you can get shrimp to taste like nothing but they've definitely done it here! The chicken I've had in their dishes is without a doubt frozen and if its not flavorless, its definitely rubbery and about as appetizing as eating a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Aside from the fact that their portion sizes are way too small for the prices they are charging. If you want Indian food, there are plenty of better options on the same street and same thing if you want Asian food. If you want to impress someone for about 5 minutes, take them to the actual restaurant, stare at some fish, get 1 drink and then high tail it out of there cause even the fish deserve better food than what they serve here.
