I have tried this place twice and had very low expectations going in. We were lured in by the Tiger Sugar which shares the same storefront. Because we were getting bubble tea, we saw the pre-packaged foods outside and thought it was brilliant and convenient. It all looked super fresh. To test it out, we bought the half a roll and it was surprisingly good. They also sell rice balls in the pre-packaged area. We came back another time to order their lunch special. I would recommend calling in advance to have it prepared because it took more than 20 minutes to get our food. They seem to have only one person preparing sushi rolls. The rolls were good and very fresh. Light on rice (which we like) and generous portions of fish. The one thing I didn't like was the spicy salmon with crunch. Their crunch was a bit overwhelming and I wasn't a fan of the combination. It's a great option to have if you are in the neighborhood. There are a few cafeteria style seats in the store and most people dine quickly and head out.

These four trays took them 45 minutes to make. Which is a shame because it actually tasted good and fresh. There was one other sushi customer the entire time that we sat there. Despite the long wait, not a word or apology was offered by the employees until we questioned how long it would take at the 40 minutes mark. Service is passable., not great, not substandard. Tables are high stools and there's three. Definitely an order ahead for pick up kind of place. Eating area could be a bit cleaner. Not a spot to eat in. Pictures is salmon sushi and sashimi. Tuna sushi. Torched salmon sushi. Yellow tail roll. Squid sushi And a ussopp roll. Doesn't come with a little container for soy sauce to mix with wasabi so that's a problem also.

The sushi is so good here and they are so welcoming. As someone who doesn't like sushi all the time, I only travel here for sushi! I love there crunch sushi rolls!! It is so nice and calming in the restaurant.

A Sushi takeaway place located inside Tiger Sugar, opened a month ago as per owner, Chee who was very attentive and hospitable. There is another location in Long Island City. The spicy salmon avocado rice bowl (Donburi), spicy tuna crunch, and the smoked salmon cucumber cream cheese = all delicious. Chee gave me a free Kalbee Gunkan sushi a la carte when I informed him that the food was so delicious, it was worthy of a review. They also provide a rewards card. #foodie

Eel teriyaki lunchbox that came with a healthy serving of eel over cabbage, 4 pcs of California roll, 2 shumai, (1) shrimp tempura, rice and salad. 2. Spicy squid lunch special - this has a little bit of a kick and can get quite spicy. Recommended to ask for less spicy if you cannot handle the heat. This came with rice, salad, 4 pcs California roll. 3. Clam kalguksu (hand pulled noodles), savory broth with plenty of little clams still in shell. I've had better, but this wasn't bad either. All of the above came with miso soup and a variety of veggie banchans (radish, pickled jalapeños and water kimchi). Service was fine, the place was actually quite busy with take out and dine in. They were attentive and checked on us a few times while we ate. The dining area itself is a little bit outdated though with worn down seating areas, but otherwise comfortable enough for a quick bite. FYI, there is a 4% fee for credit card payments, no minimum.

The chicken consisted of wings, drums and thighs. Tasted bland on its own so you need to rely on the sauce (I usually just eat it plain but with this, I couldn't). The pancake was pretty good~ crispy and flavorful (I need to ask for no carrots & peas next time). The sushi was decent- bc it was Sunday, they didn't have the 2/3 roll lunch special so we paid full price for each roll. The service was friendly & attentive, lots of options on the menu and the restaurant itself was very clean with pop music blasting. We'll definitely be back again.

Owned by another fantastic Japanese couple where the husband used to deliver the best picks of fresh fish and seafood to award winning and Michelin starred restaurants all across NYC. The space was upgraded a bit and thankfully they still retained the chef who handles the back kitchen and still deliciously creates and beautifully plates all their traditional Japanese hot dishes (please bring back the chawanmushi though!). Menu is a bit more scaled down from what it was but still all delicious and price point for it all is perfect. This spot is worthy enough to come to every day or to LIRR in from the city to eat at. Sad to not see master Kikumatsu at the helm of the sushi bar and Kyoko chan to greet you as you walk in but the new owners are as warm and as great too! Must go repeatedly!

Made a reservation for 8pm and were seated immediately upon arrival. Warmly greeted and seated, we ordered 2 of the chef's choice omakase boxes and 2 sushi sashimi combos. All the fish was fresh, flavorful and higher than average quality. We met the owner, Mr. Kay and shared conversation about Japan. The staff was warm and personable. We enjoyed our dinner thoroughly and will be back for the miso black cod and hamachi kama next time. Dinner for 4, no drinks, about $200 all in, more than fair, about 35% less than the same experience in Manhattan. Looking forward to coming back, just to see Mr. K., oh and the sushi is great too.

You may have to keep calling the employees over for service and to guide them through your order here. We had to request glasses of water for our table twice and we had a thirsty toddler with us. Once we were ready with our order we had to wait again until I went over to the bar to ask for someone to come over so we can put our order in. Once the order was placed the food came out on a timely manner but we had to remind the waiter we ordered two drinks from the bar. The waiter gaslighted us and said we did not place drink orders. He must have noticed our facial expressions at this point since we were upset by the disappointing service we were dealing with from the moment we sat down. He went to check at the bar and our drinks came out midway during our meal. We would not be back due to our experience. There are other options in the area for Japanese food.

The fried enoki mushrooms was unseasoned and the dipping sauce wasnt good. The fried chicken which I thought was juicy, it was a tad too salty. The fried rice was also too salty. Lastly the chicken katsu was what I ordered, I thought that dish was very generously size. Luckily this dish was good, my kids ate a lot of my pieces. Definitely big enough to share with the family. Unfortunately this was the only dish we all thought was good. Everything else was either too salty or not flavor. In terms of a date, this is a nice place to bring a date as its away from the busy food court. Again, staff were very nice and accommodating, however the food was not great. I wouldnt completely rule this restaurant out, since it's conveniently located in the mall.
