Eating at Koko's was a treat, and I really appreciated the service despite not being of the same culture. The ambiance errs on the louder side and caters to normal parties of 3+ to larger ones of 10+. The staff members were all patient in explaining entrees and checking in once the food was served. Parking was not the easiest since the plaza is small, but there is plenty of street parking, which makes for a nice after-meal stroll. I ordered a combination to try their beef and lamb. For the price that it was, it definitely leaned on the pricier side. Once seated, I was served what felt like the MOST refreshing glass of water - the perfect temperature, not ice cold but not lukewarm either, cool but not chilled. The pickled vegetables were a nice appetizer and condiment to the entree. Their rice was also extremely tasty, and it had accents of butter - smooth and sweet. The meats (though a tad scarce) were both medium rare and extremely tender. Between bites, there were a several cuts of pita bread as a palate cleanser. The onions and garlic were served with a tasty spice, and the meal ended on a sweet note with the tomato. Overall, service was welcoming, and food was tasty. The least enjoyable restaurant was the lingering small of cigarettes or smoke, but it was a tolerable tradeoff for a tasty dinner.

First time trying Koko's and it was absolutely everything! We tried a lot of things from the menu ranging from the zesty tabule to the tender sujukh sandwich! The chi kufteh was a bit different than I always have it because it had a lot of tomato paste inside, but nonetheless still very good. The kidye was my absolute favorite alongside the tabule. I can say hands down this was the best tabule I have ever had! The Manti was so so good, tasted very much like what I would have growing up! Our server was also very nice and helpful! The restaurant is also very clean and nice. Overall, a great Middle Eastern restaurant!

Seriously I wonder how many people don't know about this place. The beef tartar is to die for. What sucks is that they don't have alcohol.

You can really feel that this is a family run business where they care about both the food and their customers. Everything we tried was delicious, but the Mannaish with cheese & soujouk was definitely a standout, so flavorful and tasty! The stuffed cheese Mannaish was also fantastic. The food was fresh, full of flavor, and you can tell they put a lot of care into what they make. It's always nice to find a place where the food is great AND the people are genuinely warm and welcoming. I'm already looking forward to going back and trying more of the menu. We tried the stuffed cheese zaatar (the cheese pull is completely unreal), the mozzarella cheese flatbread, and the soujouk khachapuri. Every single item was incredible. What really sets this restaurant apart is the hospitality. The entire staff was so friendly and accommodating. Chef Hassan actually came out to personally serve us and chat for a bit. He told us that if he wouldn't eat it himself, he wouldn't serve it to his guests. You can tell he pours his heart into this place and truly stands by the neon motto glowing on his wall: "One Bite & Your Hooked For Life." It was incredibly kind of him to take the time to speak with us. Highly recommend!

The bakery and restaurant share the same parking lot as Trader Joe's and I had no issue finding an available parking spot on Saturday afternoon. [Atmosphere & service]: There is a mural with two people baking saj bread and there are about half a dozen tables for in-person dining. I placed an in-person order and unfortunately the service was very slow. I eventually got my order after waiting close to 15 minutes despite the lack of customers. [Menu]: Yelp's top highlighted items are Chicken Shawarma, Beef Shawarma, and Spinach Pie. They also have a display case of various baked items. Other items they sell here include Mediterranean specialty pizzas, plates (e.g. lamb gyro), Mediterranean breakfast, and flatbreads. *** Beef Shawarma Wrap (Beef, spread of hummus, fresh tomatoes, onions, and tahini sauce rolled and pressed to a crunchy toast - $18.00): The order came with two wraps. The filling was gooey and messy, but it had a very distinct flavor profile. Not too bad at all. Mini Spinach Pie (Raw spinach mixed with diced onion and sumac herb - 1 piece $2.00): It was not my cup of tea as it tasted very sour. *** A solid 3.5-star for the wrap, but bumped down due to inefficient service.

Everything tasted like it had more butter or oil than necessary, and by the end of the meal I felt weighed down. Persian food is often rich, but this crossed the line into feeling overly greasy, which took away from the quality of the ingredients. The zereshk polo and kebab both would have benefited from a lighter touch. The fresh naan was excellent, and I can understand why this place has a loyal following. It's also a good value considering the portion sizes, especially in Los Angeles. Overall, I can see why many people enjoy International Market Grill, but it wasn't quite for me. If you like very rich, hearty Persian food, you'll probably leave satisfied. I personally prefer a cleaner, less heavy preparation. So while I'm glad I tried it, I'm not sure I'd order from here again.
