We very much enjoyed the moutabal, an roasted eggplant dish as the appetizer. The chicken and beef shish kabab were juicy and tasty and was complemented by a flavorful white rice pilaf. The staff is nice and accommodating. They let you take your time and enjoy your meal while still being attentive. For people who want to go orders, they also offer really good sandwiches on warm pita as well on most days. Perfect for people who want healthy fast food on the go. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways... My friends and I have been coming to Koko's for the last few years pretty frequently. How frequent is "frequently?" Look for us every Tuesday around 1:00 on our designated table playing cards, munching on the best fries this side of France, and selectively mixing garlic with olive oil on chkufteh (raw meat). Then come by on Thursday, if you want us to teach you a new style of poker, as we feast on that week's Chef's Specials. If you still haven't gotten enough of us, check back in every other Friday, where we'll be talk This place can do no wrong. Soon as you sit down, you're transported back to your grandmother's kitchen table where every meal was designed to your specifications. Dare I say it's prepared with the same love and attention as Grammie? Family-owned and operated, it's not out of place to see the owner venture out from his kitchen and mingle with his patrons, sharing some of the secrets of his trade. It's this kind of friendly atmosphere that makes Koko's a rare treasure in the Valley. Everything on (and off) the menu is delectable, however here are some of our favorites: -fries -homous (can't be stressed enough; a must-have with any meal) -lebne (homous' little sister) -cheese boreg (x 4); as close to heaven as you're going to get. As an Armenian growing up with eating Middle Eastern food everyday of my life its hard for a restaurant to match my mom's and grandma's cooking. Luckily I found Koko's for those days that my mom hasn't cooked or those days that I really crave something that she hasn't made in a while. The family restaurant really makes you feel like you are a part of the family with the owner coming out and greeting everyone every hour asking how you've been, how the family is (even if he doesn't know your family he will ask); the waitress's always make sure that you have everything you would like and are great at recommending what to eat (trust me listen to them) and always remembering what you have ordered in the past and bringing it out before you can even ask.... It seems like they know me better than I do. The food here is what I would expect going to my grandma's house, with the same portions. The portions are huge (I usually have to share with another person) and I'd recommend getting a few appetizers and a plate and sharing those to get as much diversity as possible. My favorite thing from Koko's is the chikufteh... and I'm a chikufteh snob. The raw meat varies from person to person on what ingredients and spices they put in but Koko's makes it exactly how I've eaten it my whole life which makes it worthy of the 5 stars! I'd recommend everyone going there and checking it out... the place is very plain at first glance but the food is definitely worth it. My family absolutely loves this place! They are great at accommodating larger parties, even though it is not a huge restaurant. We go here regularly for dinner and have even had our fathers 70th birthday here. The appetizers are all tasty and the main dishes are cooked upon order. You can taste the freshness in the food. The food here is amazing. The falafel is the best I've ever had anywhere ever, and the hummus is perfect. Portions are very good. Service is great. Been here three times, and can't wait to come back. I thought about this and have visited other restaurants of similar cuisine, and my service and food were not as great as it could/should have been. In fact, the service was pretty lame as we were never offered refills or asked how everything was. Lebanese Armenian food. Simply delicious! I went with a large group and tried the shish kebab both beef & lamb. Excellent appetizers: Chee Kufta AKA Chi Keofte (depending on what part of Anatolia you are in), which is a sort of Armenian steak tartar as well as the standard salads and hummus with pita. I was told that this restaurant also has excellent grilled Mediterranean fish, but I did not have the opportunity to taste it on this visit. read more

I didn't like this place as much as my co-worker, Josh B. The chicken shish kebab sandwich was pretty flavorless. The garlic sauce helped, but Zankou is far superior, and much more reasonably priced for what you get. Also, the service wasn't that great. Our waters were never refilled. The service in this place is Horrible! The food is OK. Waitresses are rude and unfriendly. Went there a few times and every time they make you feel that they are doing you a favor by serving you. Last time I was there the waitress brought less rice than usually comes with a meal, when I asked her if I could have a little more rice she said that they ran out and are making more and that it would take 15-20 min and if I want more I have to pay $5 for the portion. That is ridiculous, you don't bring out enough rice in the first place you inconvenience your customers by running out and then you want to charge for it?! I could tell you more but I think that's enough. I will never go there again. read more

huge portions! we got three entrees for four people, with a side of babaganoush for take-out. i was concerned this wouldn't be enough since we all have healthy appetites. my worries were put to rest when i picked up what felt like a ton of food. and best of all, we actually had leftovers. the menu for the night was chicken, lamb and beef kabobs. all were excellent--very well seasoned and cooked perfectly. we'll definitely be going back. read more

I forget how my mom and I stumbled on this place, but it's the best Middle Eastern restaurant in the valley. I can't believe how generous the portions are, but I'm not going to complain as I love the leftovers. I like that you start your dining experience off with pickled cabbage and I love their hummus. The meat (lamb and chicken) are both delicious, but what really stands out in my mind is the rice. The rice is so fluffy & flavorful I just want to eat it by the galloon (ok so I'm exaggerating)...but it is really, truly a great restaurant with a lot of yumminess packed into it. I and my husband travel internationally, to countries with great food. We are extremely finicky eaters. Since last summer we have been dining at Koko's each weekend. The place is quite plain but pleasant, with terrrific air-conditioning for the valley heat. Service is always warm and accomodating. The owner, Eli, is an experienced chef. His food is consistently well-seasoned, thus flavorful. We've never had to put up with bland food. And the meat is always cooked as per our request, and succulent. Amongst the starters, we love the creamy 'Moutabal'/Baba Gannoush, made of smokey eggplant and tahini base. Lamb tongue (slices, and cold) is decadent. Mediterranean salad is good. Our weakness is the Falafel plate. Simply cannot resist the intense seasoning and crispness of these morsels. Coupled with grilled pita, tahini sauce, and salad, it almost makes a whole meal for me! But then, we can't pass up on those entrees! We both love the tender and moist lamb chops. The quality of the meat is much better than that served at most of those famous middle eastern restaurants around the valley and Glendale. It is served with a side of their simple but delicious rice which we cannot stop eating. A downfall to our low-carb diet! Sometimes my husband deviates to the lamb shish kebab; and me, to the 'Khash Khash Kebab', which is lule kebab on a bed of (sort of) conift of garlic, grilled onions and tomatoes. Delicious! We have succumbed to finishing with their homemade deserts. We love the 'Arabic custard' There is live music on Saturday nights, so reserve your table. Sunday nights Koko's is closed a earlier in the evening. read more
