My husband loved it. The massages are a little rough, so I asked for them to be a little softer. But, I'm kinda a baby with massages, like I don't book deep tissue type of massages. The masseuse went on top of my back on all fours lol. I started laughing when she did that, she started to giggle too. I told my husband she was so petite I didn't mind it. The spa areas were very clean and aesthetically pleasing. I didn't bring a bathing suit, so I couldn't use the co-ed area which looked so peaceful and relaxing. The spa offered shorts for men, so my husband utilized the co-ed hot tubs. He said he was the only person in the co-ed area and men's side. In the women's area, where they had the hit tubs, women are nude. So, it's a little stressful at first because I never been to a spa where people are nude. But, I eventually got comfortable and enjoyed the hot tubs. The women's are that had the clay room, salt room, and sauna required robes. That area was so relaxing. The clay area was my favorite.

You could tell she was very thoughtful with her touch and technique throughout the entire session. My 1.5 hour massage honestly felt like 2 hours in the best way possible because I was so relaxed and immersed in the experience. My skin felt incredibly soft and rejuvenated afterward. I especially loved the hot honey milk she poured and massaged into my body. It felt absolutely amazing and made the experience feel extra luxurious and calming. Although Hugh Spa is on the smaller side, it still has enough amenities to enjoy and unwind. The only thing I wish they had was an ice bath, but they do have an ice room which definitely helps. Today i spent about $300 on a gold slimming wrap package and it was 100% not worth it. Same experience as last time and i had high hopes it was a one off. Nope. When I arrived i asked that the person checking me in if they could please focus on my belly and thighs bc im losing weight and need the attention there. I am by no means overweight but I try to keep my skin looking good. The desk folks acknowledged that request. My scrub was ok and took less than 30 minutes. That should have left about 1.5 hours for the wrap, mask and massage. That part was slightly shorter at an hour and 20mins but what didn't happen is what I requested-she primarily focused on my back even when i asked her directly to please work on my legs and belly. I got a 3 minute per leg/glute oil massage and a quick two minute belly massage. Im so upset that my reasonable request ignored. Twice. And i paid a lot of hard earned money on top of it. Id be better off at a local massage place for a quarter of the cost. The wrap was OK but when i first started getting them about a decade ago, they were way better in terms of length of time you were cocooned in the warm blankets with the solution and they used to wrap your belly and thoroughly massage your limbs and belly afterward to ensure you got the full diuretic effect and sign tightening. She worked 80% on my back. All the while you can hear every customer being checked in less than 20 feet away and when they walked me to the room in my robe and nothing else there was a guy sitting on the entry couch talking on the phone. Say what?! So no peace or quiet, no decency or privacy at a women's spa, no attention to customer satisfaction or requests and no respect for long term customers or our money. WTH. Im pretty upset and i feel ripped off if im honest.

Our time we booked was 2pm, but for some reason they asked us to push four hours to 6pm(!), which wouldn't have been the biggest issue if we actually got what we paid for. There wasn't much in way of an apology -- we could have had dinner reservations because WAS Valentine's Day (hello??) We paid for me to receive a deep tissue massage, which DOES cost most than a regular Swedish Massage. I don't know the name of my massage therapist, but I wanted to talk to her beforehand about my concerns (since after all I did pay for a deep tissues massage), but it seemed honestly like she didn't want to speak much to me prior to the massage and was heading out the door. I had to stop her to discuss several concerns. I thought this was unprofessional because a deep tissue massage could potentially hurt any muscles with injuries, and she didn't know anything about me or what my actual theraputic needs are. This was a pricey massage so I expected a little more concern for my actual needs. The massage therapist completely ignored me. She didn't focus on the knots on my back at all. It's almost like she found one, but then ignored it as fast as possible. This was my primary concern I expressed before the session and needed deep tissue work done. It's like she had her own routine she wanted to do and didn't want to be bothered to alter anything for me and this defintely was NOT a deep tissue massage so truly I should at least be refunded a portion of this bill. To make matters worse, she did some weird karate chopping (??? HUUUH???) on my calves, and then spent a good deal of time on my my scalp which really hurt, and I don't understand how that is part of a deep tissue massage. She started pressing on my temples and I actually told her "Ouch stop". Then with OILY HANDS she started pressing on my face (????) and massage my face and pulling my skin(??) and it hurt and was not relaxing and was truly awful. So, I don't know what to do with this. If I could go back, I would have stopped the massage and walked out the door and asked for my money back, but that's so awkward in this situation. I shouldn't have waited so long to write the review, but I just needed to say something. Please don't go here if you need a deep tissue massage. A random masssage place in a plaza for $40-50 cheaper would actually do a better job sadly. This is definitely not a luxury experience and I wish my husband could receive his money back for this.

My friend and I booked the Goddess package, which is the most complete. You arrive early to soak in the hot tubs (which were not as hot as my last review indicated), and then are taken back to the wet massage area. After a very thorough scrub and wash, you are massaged, and you also have your hair washed, and they do an anti-aging face mask. It was about $220, which is a little more expensive than I remember, but that's about an hour and forty-five minutes of service. I did feel like if I went back, I'd probably try one of the shorter services. You don't have to have cash for a tip, because they put the tip on your bill, and you can pay with your credit card. I didn't hang out in any of the saunas, just in the mood for a hot tub. They did have a nice, tranquil outside area as well. Also, they had a cafe that had some snacks and water, and also a sign saying you can order food. I didn't get the name of the person who did my service, but she was great! She was very friendly.

Olympic used to have mugwort soak, places to scrub yourself and to get to know the community. They had mats readily available to lie in the heated floor and the best broccoli dish at the restaurant. And they were $30 foot a simple soak. You learned to whisper, shower before dipping, and to put up long hair while getting to know about Korean bathing culture. It was a ritual experience. No more mugwort, scrubbing stools, or mats, or restaurant. Now it's $60 to go to a place with seemingly Caucasian women's silhouettes on all the literature, Costco granola bars and plastic wrapped fruit. There was obviously a strategy in changing the business model to cater to rich white ladies. I can't be mad at them for wanting to make a buck. But now it's less homey Korean spa and more whitewashed and sterile. Again, you do you. It was just a big change in vibe and cost. The new ice room and patio are fantastic. They kept the buckwheat tea. It's still sparkling clean. But for the new price, the trade off is not worth it. I'll go to another K spa that enriches my body, and desire to be a student and supporter of the Korean community.
