Haven't been here for a long time. Now we're back for a quick and easy lunch. The food, the price, and the service are all good. I had a baked chicken rice with black pepper sauce and it wasn't bad at all. The black pepper sauce was nicely done with good spiciness. Pretty tasty. The rest of the bowls were also nice. Good portion as well. Not much line up for seatings. Mostly takeout orders. Plentiful of parking space at the front. Conveniently located on Markham Rd. south of Major Mac. 5% discount when paying with cash. All in all, it's a good value Japanese ramen, rice, and poke bowl place in Markham East. Recommended.
On Family Day, I decided to break out of the house and take a drive around the eastern part of Markham. While parked in front of Panash Bakery, I did a quick search on Uber Eats to grab some takeout for dinner. I found Komeya Cafe down the street. I decided to check it out. It had a premium poke bowl with sushi rice that was a deal on the app. It had salmon, tuna, and crab meat. I got to choose my sauce and ingredients. I went with the non-spicy creamy sesame sauce. I also got tomato, edamame, cucumber, avocado, seaweed salad, and corn added to my bowl. I also saw the drinks that this place had. I was interested in the fresh litchi green tea. I have been consuming energy drinks and bottled water as of late that I needed a change. I got a large version of this tea. My order took fifteen minutes to prepare. By the time I was done getting my bakery haul, my food order was ready. I happily drove southbound along Markham Road to fetch it. This eatery was easy to spot. It's on the main floor of a condo building. I backed into a spot and walked in. At the counter, I had a nice man who said hi. I showed him my Uber Eats order number and he handed me my order. He hoped that I'd enjoy my food. I thanked him and walked out with my goodies. I had everything when I got home. I loved it all. The large litchi green tea was delicious. You couldn't adjust the sugar level, but it was mildly sweet that it worked for me. There were little bits of litchi that were yummy. The green tea was subtle. This drink hit the spot. The premium poke bowl with sushi rice was incredibly delicious. The fish varieties were so fresh. Heck, everything in the bowl was fresh and bursting with flavour. From the seaweed salad to the tomatoes (it was my first time adding tomatoes to a poke bowl for me and it worked), I loved this entire bowl. The sushi rice was perfectly done. I'm a fan. I'd return in a heartbeat for more. (53)
The food was phenomenal and exceeded my expectations. I personally got the torched salmon poke bowl with kale noodles--it was my first time with kale noodles but it was such a fun bouncy texture paired with awesome flavours and sides. Only personal preference for it would be that I would've liked my pickled ginger on the side rather than a clump in the bowl itself but I could have easily moved it myself prior to mixing. My parents had hot dishes; the black pepper beef bowl was pretty good. The black pepper sauce was very authentic and very black peppery--the spice level builds with more bites you take so be careful! The teriyaki chicken was very filling and flavourful as reported by my dad. The last dish was a chicken karaage appetizer to share amongst the table. Very affordable and very juicy, tender, and yummy! It's not the crunchy kind of fried chicken but it is still nonetheless fried to perfection and retains the juicy plumpness that I wasn't fully expecting! The service of the two staff were exceedingly friendly and accommodating in this small cafe. There isn't hot tea normally but one of the staff very kindly made some hot tea with a tea bag in a separate cup for my mom at no extra charge! It was really sweet and they truly do care for the service they provide. It was a pleasant environment and I could see quite a few take out orders.
I ordered the Salmon Avocado with Sushi Rice with spicy mayo and all toppings, and it was fantastic. It was the perfect amount of food, and the whole meal was very enjoyable. I'll definitely be ordering from here again!!
3.5 stars I turned into the apartment complex where the restaurant is located but it must've been the back so I wasn't sure if I was in the right place. The restaurant is on the ground floor of a building facing Markham Rd. We ordered takeout upon the recommendation from a friend. I did not want to have raw fish so I went with the chicken curry rice bowl. I didn't realize it until afterward but the special on the weekend is half off a drink with the purchase of a bowl. My friend ordered the tuna avocado kale noodles but not torched. She said that the previous time that she ordered it the tuna was torched too long and ended up almost cooked. There's a choice of regular or spicy sesame sauce to go with it. It didn't take long for my order to be ready. It was nice that the curry portion of the meal was packed in another container. That way you could add as much as you like and the rice wouldn't get soggy from the sauce before you ate it. The only flaw to the meal was that the curry wasn't as flavourful as I had hoped. I liked that there was a few pieces of broccoli and a marinated egg. I definitely did not finish all the rice during the one meal and saved it for another.
Scroll down for the TLDR version This is a cute and quaint cafè besides some residential condos across. I've been to this place several times for take out and eat in and it is my to go pokè place ! Servers were extremely friendly and attentive and I love how fresh the food is! For the eat in experience, it feels like you are transported to a friends place for a hearty bowl of goodness. Today my friend ordered the salmon avocado sushi rice and I ordered the torched salmon avocado sushi rice. My only reservation is my torched salmon sushi rice had some walnuts, almonds and raisins and although it's nice to have, it didn't complement the dish well and at some points it felt like I was eating a deconstructed granola bar. Despite that, I would still come back and recommend this place. I would just ask for no nuts in the rice moving forward. TLDR: small cafè, attentive and friendly servers, FRESH and tasty bowls
Simple and fresh! Wanted to try the torched vs the regular poke style and it was delicious. The caramelised sauce on the salmon and tuna was good and made the fish 2/3 to 1/2 raw. I think I'm more a fan of the traditional raw poke. The veggie toppings all looked and tasted very fresh. Not too salty, the right amount of sauce on everything. The crispy tempura bits under the poke was a nice surprise too! We tried two different sauces, the sesame was a lot runnier than the spicy Mayo, which had the texture perfect for dipping. Don't get me wrong, both choices will taste excellent on your poke bowl! The brown sugar BBT, not as strong as Chatime, the bubbles were a tad chewier/harder, by the time lunch was over the tapioca pearls had hardened up. So if this matters to you, my tip is to order drinks after your meal. The owners were very friendly, parking was easy. No where there to dine outside, but walk a bit south and you can sit at a bench by Markham Museum. Would come back here again for another round.
Cute little cafe with a very attentive staff. The parking lot has security surveillance, and they went out to put a note on our car to make sure we don't get any parking fines. We ordered gyoza, tuna poke bowl with kale noodles topped with spicy mayo, and tonkatsu ramen. All the dishes were delicious, flavorful, and fresh. Never had kale noodles before, but they were dressed in a creamy sesame sauce - amazing taste and texture. Really enjoyed lunch here and would recommend this place to anyone in the area!
Some of the best poké in Markham! I had the Torched Salmon Poké and it was filling and so yummy. All you could ask for in a poké bowl. The worker was patient with my questions. I love that they offer the torched option! It's a unique option compared to other places that have traditional proteins. I will definitely be back the next time I'm craving poké... which will probably be soon!
I had the spicy salmon tuna crab kale noodle and my dad had the Unagi bowl and the owner is very humble, my mom didn't like a dish he right away compt it from our bill and he didn't even accept a tip and I was forcing to give a tip and he still didn't want it, the kale noodle has perfect texture with the sauce, with the salmon tuna and crab oh my goodness to die for, I really love the customer service, very humble and food is amazing, very healthy meal, I can see why they have four stars, very reasonable price can't come back here again for sure
First time trying the Poke at Komeya! I got the salmon avocado with sushi rice. Overall I enjoyed it and liked the cafe aesthetic. The salmon and avocado were good and went well with the sushi rice. The one thing I didn't like is the tomatoes in the dish however. I though they didn't compliment the dish well. Overall found it decent but not super memorable: 3.5 stars
I love the food here but they get ZERO STARS for eco-friendliness. Let me start with the food. They make these delicious kale noodles for a raw fish bowl. Pretty much a Poke Bowl but with noodles instead of rice. They do have rice options but I'm always going to pick noodles over rice. It's so refreshing and full of flavour, without being too heavy of a meal. I really enjoy it here and crave it fairly often. We love the special homemade desserts they make as well. Cute little nutty nougats that taste not too sweet. They have a little tartness from the dried fruit inside, which I surprisingly like. My only quip about this place is honestly the fact that they serve water with styofoam cups. Instead of just washing reuseable plastic cups or atleast using something that can be recycled, they use piles and piles of styrofoam. They also provide disposable utensils for dining in instead of reusable. For 2020, this is incredibly disappointing to see.. it's like everyones trying to take a step forward and they're taking one back. I hope this business takes more responsibility for leaving a smaller carbon footprint behind. At this day and age, I find this to be distasteful and unacceptable.
So refreshing grabbing kale poke for dinner because of the nice weather yesterday! There are a large variety of options to choose from that range from both oily to heathy meals. The kale noodles were really good, but the different toppings on the salmon kale noodles dish were a little unevenly portioned. The price was reasonable and I would highly recommend trying their kale noodles out! I had the BBQ Chicken kale noodles, it was delicious and came with many different toppings. I liked how they added crispy rice cereal to the noodles, it gave it a crunchy taste!

Fresh and delectable. This is a tiny café with lots of natural lighting for Japanese dishes and poke bowls. I had the torched salmon poke bowl which was super nice, but portion sizes were a bit small. Ingredients were fresh and the torched taste was a little mild but otherwise, it's good bang for your buck. I'd have liked more fish though but don't we all! Dude had salmon rice in soup which looked OK and he said it was a 3* experience. My 3* were from good ambience, portion size, and taste of torched salmon. I think they need to torch it a few seconds longer for that smokey feel. Def recommend this place, though. Service could have been better for such a small place. read more
Food: I usually get the salmon with rice, but this time I got it with the kale noodle instead and WOW it was amazing. The kale noodle is a type of cold green noodle mixed with some crisps and I loved how chewy it is! The salmon and tuna (tuna salad) were both very fresh. But if you are expecting fatty toro (like the ones you get in Japan and it melts in your mouth), this ain't it. The tonkatsu ramen is very good as a "homemade ramen" but it certainly cannot be compared to the ones from actual ramen places. Another thing I love from Komeya is their sauce, especially their spicy mayo and honey sesame sauce!!! Portion: Normal Environment: Cute and small. That feeling when you're craving sushi, but too broke to afford it at the moment? Well, poke bowls is the best solution to your problem. Komeya is a small restaurant located under some condos with a basic variety of poke bowls (salmon or tuna with rice/salad). They also have ramen/kale noodles and drinks that you can combine as a combo. Restaurant was quiet with a good number of tables. You order and pay for the food and they'll call when it's ready to eat. For my first time, I had the tuna avocado rice bowl with wasabi eel sauce and made it a combo with a drink. Came out to be around $14/15 which was a pretty good deal. Service was polite and friendly and we got our food promptly. I thought it was really good for a poke bowl. Sure, there's not much variety as Poke guys or Hoki Poke, but it hits the spot just right for an average bowl. Maybe I'll be back to give it another go, but I think I rather go to somewhere to more variety and options to pick rice/toppings etc. read more

I have been coming to Komeya for a few years now and I would say this place definitely has the one of the best poke bowls in Markham. They used to be open 6-7 days a week (I think) and the hours have changed to Friday-Sunday only which is upsetting because I can't have my Komeya fix on the weekdays anymore. The owner of Komeya is so sweet and often hands out free slices of her freshly baked sponge cakes to customers in store (btw, those sponge cakes are so good and soft). Food: I always order the salmon avocado poke bowl. This dish comes with salmon (unmarinated unlike other types of traditional Hawaiian poke), avocado, cucumber, tomato, ginger and seaweed salad on a bed of rice. You can choose the sauces you'd like to have in your bowl and I often go for the unagi sauce and spicy mayo. The fish is super fresh and I love the taste of all the ingredients mixed in the bowl. Environment: the place is fairly small. There are around 4-5 tables for two, a few tables put together for larger parties, and bar seating by the window. Prices: The salmon avocado poke bowl is around $13 which is an average price for poke bowls in Markham. read more
My new favourite go to poke spot. Grabbed the tuna avocado kale poke bowl $14 and IT WAS THE BEST MEDLEY EVER. It has nuts, seaweed salad, kale noodles, tuna, avocado, random vegetables, etc. I honestly don't even know but it was PERFECT. It has some seating and is located in a plaza with parking. Service is very good and nice. Legit my mouth is watering as I think about how good it was. I need it again. read more

You know that feeling when you're craving sushi but you really don't feel like having sushi or worrying about where you're going to go without spending too much. Well here comes Komeya Cafe. Located below the condos on the west side of Markham road. This cute little cafe is easy to miss if you aren't looking for it. Unfortunately the seating here is extremely limited, so if you are a large group or looking to sit during a rush, be prepared to stand. I ordered the tuna bowl with rice and spicy mayo/eel sauce. At $13 a bowl (before tax), I thought the price was a little on the higher end, but for an all-inclusive dining or takeout price it's really not that bad. The quality however, is definitely on the money. The fish was super fresh, the veggies were crisp, and that sauce was bomb.com. My only gripe is that I wish the rice was cooled down a little more. Something about cold fish with hot rice doesn't mesh well in my mouth. read more

From the elegant décor, friendly staff, to the fresh produce and delectable desserts, Komeya Cafe is definitely my go-to spot when I'm feeling a fresh bowl of poke. I usually go to Komeya when I'm looking for a healthy option that's also delicious. Every time I go here, I order the salmon poke bowl with kale noodles and spicy mayo sauce. The kale noodles are extremely chewy and serve as the perfect base for the fresh ingredients on top. This includes cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, corn, avocado, seaweed salad and pickled ginger. As you feast on the perfect marriage of flavors, the added surprise of delightfully crunchy tenkasu bits enlivens your pallet and adds a much-needed element of crunch to the dish. The star of the show, the salmon is fresh and decadent as well. Overall, this dish is very well-rounded and satisfying. At the price point of $14.99 it's on the pricier side but worth it in my opinion. The best part of Komeya is by far their snow cake dessert. Crunchy, yet chewy, with a multitude of flavours coming from the dried fruits and nuts that are incorporated into the dessert. I'm not a big fan of sweets, but I could easily wipe out an entire box of these all by myself! If you ever visit this place this is a MUST HAVE. They offer the snow cake in two flavours, original (white) and matcha (green). I like the matcha better because it gives another dimension of flavour to the snow cake. Once you get hit with the initial sweetness of the dessert, the matcha kicks in and balances it out so that you don't feel too bad about yourself afterwards. This place is well equipped for a small group with tables to sit at, and water jugs loaded with lemon water to compound the healthy meal you just had. For anyone that is in the Markham area, I strongly recommend you check this place out! read more
This is newly opened coffee shop business about three weeks. The manager gave me her biz card and I was welcomed. The store still needs a little time to introduce more their own house made pastries. At this point , the pastries and baked good are supplied by outsourced bakery. I ordered a large Americano 16 oz $2.89 inc. Tax. It is reasonable and taste strong. They run like Japanese style . I was greeted by the owner with bow. Very friendly and polite I felt like I walked into a store in Japan . Manager offers me their four signatures milk tea testing. Four different tea bases ：Japanese Roasted green tea based milk tea, house black tea , fresh ginger , rooibos almond cream. Taste buds sense from light to strong. It is quite impressive to me. I love milk tea do their house blend milk tea which is strong enough if u like intensive tea taste. I prefer ginger it is my favorite choice and the gingerly flavor is staying all senses inside, must try. I give four stars including coffee quality, price and temp and service such as cleanliness and organization. One star would be gained if they also sooner or later make their own home made pastries in house. They offer free coffee for next visit please stay tuned for more new add on items. I had a lunchtime craving for sushi, but decided to opt for this instead. I grabbed the salmon avocado kale poke bowl. The atmosphere was great, not too busy or noisy. The service was exceptional and the staff was friendly. The kale noodles were nice and chewy, the nuts added crunch and the seaweed was light. The additional spicy mayo sauce added a bit of kick. This is my new favourite poke bowl spot. read more

Passed by this place many, many times (while on my way to Petsmart for some dog shopping) and finally decided to give this place a try on a Friday night. The small but decent sized restaurant is located at the ground level of a condo. It faces the road so you should be able to see it. There's not too much parking available but should be okay since there's not too many restaurants there. The restaurant is pretty clean with ~10 small tables, but they do have a high chair area facing the window (the lighting is pretty nice there if it's a sunny day, just an fyi for all ya igers out there). There's also a small water area to get your own utensils, napkins and water right behind the door, a small yet cutely decorated corner. Onto the fooooood. In general, the poke bowls were okay. Fresh, and portions are decent. It also comes neatly presented on a small tray which I'm a sucker for. There's limited sauce and bowl options which I was surprised at. Tried 2 bowls: smoked salmon and the salmon avo + kale noodle. I didn't taste any kale flavour but that may have been better enhanced if I paired it with a lighter sauce as opposed to the creamy one. Both the bowls were very colourful and aesthetically pleasing. There was also a lot of rice! Maybe a bit too much and slightly off balanced the bowl. Just felt like I was constantly working on the rice lol For what I paid for, I actually prefer Poke Guys. PG has a lot more options to customize your bowls, and just tasted more appealing imo. Komeya's bowls tasted pretty Chinese but it was still a decent poke bowl. I keep using the word decent because, well, that word basically sums up this restaurant. Not amazing but not terrible. Finally decided to check this place out, we wanted to wait for them to finish their soft opening and iron out any kinks since the initial reviews weren't the best. I have to say, I love their salmon poke on cold kale noodles with a delicious sesame dressing! Comes with avocado, cherry tomatoes, seaweed salad and sprinkled with a puffed cereal that adds a great crunch for texture. It was so good I went back a week later to get the same thing. Great portion too! My husband tried their ramen which unfortunately was lacking a bit of depth in their broth. Would not get that again. He has also tried their Japanese pork and egg on rice which was really good, I would order that next time if I'm feeling like a warm dish instead of the salmon poke. Cute neighbourhood spot. Would recommend trying this place out for sure! Just note that they have some updated hours - I think they are only open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. read more
I live in the area and have been wanting to try this place for a very long time. Finally came here with a friend on a Saturday afternoon, and this place was busy. If you're thinking to avoid the rush by going there on a weekday/night, sorry - they're close from Monday to Thursday! I guess you would just either have to come early or get your food to-go. we both ordered the Salmon Avocado poke bowl with spicy mayo. It was really tasty. there are loads of toppings that came with the bowl: cucumber, seaweed salad, cherry tomatoes, tempura flakes, ginger, teriyaki sauce and garnished with sesame seeds. This was already very flavourful, so I didn't use all of my spicy mayo. So it was good that the mayo was served on the side. I thought the cherry tomato didn't really go well with the rest the dish as it made the whole bowl taste quite sour.. on top of the rice vinegar and ginger.. I would probably hold the tomatoes next time. We also got to try a free sample of their cheesecake, very fluffy and light in flavour. read more

[SERVICE] - 4/5 Café-style service, so you pay at the counter before you sit down. Staff were very friendly and efficient. [DÉCOR] - 3.5/5 They added more tables for dine-in customers since they opened last year. Decor is a little too bland in my opinion, but if you like to take pics of your food, the lighting is really good near the bar stools in front of the window! [QUALITY] - 4/5 High-quality in fresh ingredients in their poke bowls. Perfect for a light meal or a snack! [ORDER] - 4/5 Salmon Avocado Poke Bowl - $10.99: This bowl was SO PRETTY! For sauce, I chose the nutty and delicious "Spicy Creamy Sesame Sauce." Salmon sashimi was soft and fresh. Avocado was creamy and ripe. Seaweed salad, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, and pickled ginger added a light and fresh taste to this colourful concoction! [OVERALL] - 4/5 I would definitely recommend Komeya Café to those who enjoy poke bowls! I really like the simplicity of Komeya Cafe. It's a simple dine-in/take out place with a simple menu where you can just enjoy something easy and quick. I ordered the torched salmon avacado poke bowl and was pleased with the dish. The salmon is blow torched for a nice cooked and slightly charred texture and was coated in a sweet unagi sauce while the spicy mayo I ordered was on the side in a small container. That was really interesting but I enjoyed it like that so you could control the amount. Their spicy mayo was great; it was thicker than your usual and you could tell of the many components in there by the granular apperance. There were a lot of sweet components in the bowl, from the ginger, the seaweed, and of course the unagi sauce, so those if you who like sweet things would love this bowl. The rice had crispy tempura bits well dispersed which added a lovely crunch and lightness to the rice. Water and utensils were self-serve and I liked how there was hot water here as well. I'll definitely be back, there's not too many places to get poke bowls in Markham! read more
I really liked my experience at Komeya Cafe! It's a quiet, cozy spot to work without too many distractions. You can find it on the west side of Markham Road and just south of Bur Oak. It's part of an apartment complex I believe? But it can be easy to miss. The place itself isn't very big as well. This place is family-run and it shows, in a nice way. There are cute little touches here and there - the signs are clearly drawn by a kid. Service was courteous and pretty hands-off - utensils and water you can get by yourself. The menu includes a range of things like poke, ramen, and drinks. I went for the salmon avocado poke because there are not very many options in Markham for poke! I chose the unagi sauce but there are others you can choose as well. It ended up being about 12 dollars. The bowls are not customizable like most poke places are though I'm sure you could ask. I was pretty satisfied with my bowl - portions were big and there was quite a bit of fish! It came with seaweed salad, cherry tomatoes, avocado, tempura bits, ginger, and lots of salmon. It was a really filling and clean it and it was surprisingly quite satisfying! It wasn't super busy on a Sunday afternoon as it is a bit out of the way in a quiet area. But there was still a steady amount of customers and I was able to stay there for 3 hours and be productive. Will definitely be back! read more

Food ==== Ordered Ramen & Donburi Ramen: A little under seasoned for my taste. The Pork was good! But the soup was a bit bland. It was creamy, and the texture FELT rich. And so it looked the part and it smelled the part, but when you put it in your mouth...the broth was a bit disappointing... Donburi: Good. No complaints. Drinks: We ordered Coffee & Bubble Tea. My go-to restaurant! Komeya is a cute small cafe located on Main Street Markham under a group of apartments. They offer poké bowls, ramen, rice, and many more. I've been here several times but I always manage to go back to the salmon poké bowl drizzled with spicy mayo. Inside this dish, there is seasoned seaweed, avocado, tomato, ginger, fresh salmon, and little crunchy bits. The flavours blend together amazingly with a touch of spiciness. The employees there are very kind and welcoming. On my first visit, I even had a chat with one of the ladies and she took the time to ask me what I ordered, how was it, and her recommendations for next time. I honestly recommend everybody try this restaurant out because you definitely won't regret it! read more
I gave this place a try during their soft opening and only got a drink the first time around and thought it was decent. Went back for some food and was pretty satisfied. The owner was extremely friendly and helpful when selecting the items on the menu. I opted for the Salmon Avocado Poke bowl and my mom chose the BBQ Pork with Runny egg on rice. The owner triple checked if the BBQ Pork was OK for my mom because she advised the Pork was half fatty and half meat trying to be health conscious. The ingredients in the poke bowl were fresh and I liked the little tempura bits in the rice. It added a nice crunch to the meal. I chose the wasabi sauce for the bowl but didn't notice it much. Could have used more. The bbq pork bowl was also pretty good. The Pork was tender and juicy. The rice was lacking some flavour despite there being sauce on it. Overall a pretty decent place I'd recommend giving a try. It's nice to have this option when I live 5 minutes away! read more

Poke bowls exist uptown and this is the go to place for it! I got the Salmon Avocado Poke bowl. It had some tempura bits underneath it with the rice. The Salmon was fresh and the avocado was perfectly ripe. The portion size was great and generous. It also includes a dressing on the side, I picked the Japanese dressing, which tasted like soy sauce mixed with wasabi, sugar, and something else. It blended well with the poke bowl. First time here, a small cosy place. Good for small group. However, if you have big group of 10, you should call ahead as there is only 1 long table, 2 small table and some bar level seatting. There is no high chair. Since i have a baby and need a high chair in order to eat, so i change my eat-in order to a takeout. I have the torched salmon with avacado poke with kale noodle poke bowl. I requested for it to be fully torched aka fully cooked. It is served in cold kale noodle. Taste good! Spicy with sesame sauce! Though it maybe too spicy for kids. However, you may want to request for none spicy if you don't rake spicy. It is pricey as the portion is small. They happen to have a strawberry sponge cake for sampling. It just melts in your mouth. It is not sweet, and I love it! If you have extra room for some dessert, you may want to try it. Or have it with coffee/tea. Tried their hot ginger milk today, request for half sugar.You can specify the sweetness. The milk is foamy and light. Would prefer a stronger ginger taste. Otherwise, is alright. read more

Pros: great food, good portion sizes, aesthetically pleasing, friendly staff, nice music selection, short wait time for the food Cons: difficult to find location, everything is self serve, small place My friend and I decided try Komeya Cafe after reading some reviews on Yelp. The location was difficult to find since the actual sign was hard to notice so we circled around the building a couple of times before finding it. When we finally got in, there was nobody at the front so we weren't sure if we were supposed to wait for someone to come tell us where to sit, or go to the counter and order food first. Eventually, we figured it out and went to the counter to order food. Since my friend and I are both vegetarians, we ordered the Spicy Kale Cold Noodle, and the Sea Salt Ramen. They were both delicious, and the portion sizes were perfect for us. Prices are relatively cheap (around $8-12 depending on the dish), with a combo deal of $2 for black milk tea. Final Thoughts: Overall, I think the food was great, the cafe is pretty, and the staff are quick. The owner even let us sample handmade chocolate and caramel milk tea (which was sooo good!). Improvements: The cafe would be even better if they added signs to show customers what to do (for example, tell people to order first, then sit). Would I go again?: For sure! :) read more

Very limited seating under the condo and food not too impressed. Tried to order noodles off the menu and was told they don't have it and it was lunch time. So they tried to substitute it with something else. When the food arrived the food wasn't overly impressive, there weren't a lot of ingredients for the price of ramen. Also ordered coffee latte and it seems too sweet for what it is. Would I go back? Probably not. Price for food I can probably find a better deal elsewhere. read more
Overall 2.5 stars. I round it up to 3 stars because it is new. As many have stated, this place has potential, but it is not there yet. I patronized at around 2:30pm on a Saturday. I ordered a Salmon Poke Bowl. The order took long, considering I was the only food customers (there were 4 customers ordering drinks). The bowl looked pretty, and there were lots of toppings, hence the picture looked good. The toppings and the sauce tasted all right. It was too bad that the rice crumbed together in small balls, and slightly cold, as if it was in fridge for a while. I wished the cook spent some time breaking down the crumbs. Just a little bit of work yet it would have made a world of difference. As it was, I didn't enjoy it. read more

This is a cozy restaurant in the neighbourhood. I got the Salmon Avocado Poké bowl with hot milk tea. The food portion size is generously a lot for me. I had difficulty clearing the entire bowl, it took me 1 hour, lol. We went in around 7pm, wasn't too busy. But after 7:30, it did get busy. A few takeouts and dine-ins. Here and there. The wasabi soy sauce was a little salty for me. I made the mistake of dumping the entire sauce in. Next time, I'll pour a little. The staff is friendly. read more

Location: At the foot of the new condos on Markham Rd just south of Bur Oak (west side). Easy to find, parking was okay on a weekday near closing. Might be a but harder to find at a slightly busier time of day. Facility: Clean, modern, ambience is quiet and cozy. I loved the huge photos of some of their popular dishes on the wall. It is also a CAFE so obviously there will be limited seating. Order to go is your best bet to closer to closing when it is quiet. Food Quality & Price: Salmon poke bowl with spicy mayo and unagi sauce was incredible. Portion was very satisfying (a lot of rice to salmon ratio but balanced out with veggies). $12. Quality was excellent, price a little high but ok for once in a while. Service: After viewing the menu online, I also placed an order for pork cutlet. But the in store menu did not have it. Manager Li came out and apologized. Immediately she gave me a complimentary Spicy Kale Cold noodle to try anyway (it was delicious by the way). She did not have to and went above and beyond. I am very pleased with the service. My food was ready in 5 minutes. Overall: I came on a whim and was just blown away by service and quality. So happy to find a new go-to location for Poke bowls near Greensborough!! Komeya Cafe's small menu was a very smart choice. Do something well and keep it up. Only feedback is that if they keep changing the menu, they need to keep their website updated. Can't wait to go back! read more
Cute little cafe that serves poke bowls.. it is located underneath a condo complex and I can see parking being limited during peak hours/weekends. We arrived Friday afternoon and the got the last few seats. I ordered the salmon with rice ($11.99) and my husband ordered the salmon with kale noodles ($13.99). You get a choice of the sauce (sesame/spicy mayo/eel) and it comes on the side (which I like..for those who prefer less sauce). The bowls come with generous amounts of avocado, seaweed salad, cucumbers, pickled ginger, cherry tomatoes and salmon.. along with crunchy tempura bits. The price is slightly higher than I would expect from a small cafe but the portion was enough to definitely fill me up. The concept is rather cute.. order and pay at the counter.. self-serve water and utensils. There is not much seating available so I would not recommend coming here as a social gathering.. there are two tables for 2, ~5 bar seats along the window and a long table with approximately 10 seats. Thumbs down on the limited seating and no change table in the washroom through. read more

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our time in this small little Cafe. It had modern decor, flavored water(different fruits), and fantastic service. Have much deliberation, we ended up ordering two items. One was the cheese Udon and the another was an off menu item, which was a modification of the oyakodon. The chef adjusted the order to be instead of chicken, he gave us pork slices. This ended up being a fanastic decision. The modified oyakodon was definitely something I recommend when you arrive. The most surprising part was the milk tea that you can combo with anything. We ordered it with the least sugar(1/3) and it was probably more sweet than a 100% sugar somewhere else. That isn't a bad thing though, since it's not an over powering sweetness, but an amplifier of the milk tea flavour. I will definitely drop by here more often just for the milk tea! read more
I got the salmon avocado with kale - $13.99 (take out) because I wanted to go for something lighter instead of rice. Despite I didn't eat all day, the portion was very filling and satisfying. They loaded the salmon cube, which is way more than some of the photos posted in the review. The portion was close to 1:1. Half noodles, half salmon (Not sure if it has to do with take out.) Salmon was fresh, I love how they premix the sauce with the noodle, but also give you extra spicy sesame sauce if you need more. Seems like they added the Swiss roll on their menu.. 3-5pm tea time special. $3.99 Swiss roll + milk tea Very good deal, will go back and try the Swiss roll cake~ If you can never decide what to order, this place is a good choice as they have a very limited menu. Prob around 15 items for you to choose from. I will definitely come back again when I'm getting take out for one. read more

I gotta admit, I only came here because it's like 5 mins walking from my house... I ordered a tonkatsu ramen, the portion is not big but the soup is very rich. I was really surprised the the pieces of meat(2slices) were really small and thin in which it cost 8.99 and additional 2$ for the black milk tea. I don't mind it since I don't eat crazy lot, however I believe it can be better. The location is very convenient for me so that's a personal +++ for me, prices I would say average but the portion of ramen can be increase by tiny bit. Milk tea was tasty and reasonable. The ambiance of this location is pretty good, it's not a big lot but enough to fit about 20 I would say!? If you just want a quick bite, and location is convenient, then go for it, it seems poke bowl are more popular, I only got to try the tonkatsu ramen so this review is only for that and for the store ambiance and so on. I will come back to give it a try to their other menus. read more

I really wanted to like this place, it has a good concept and I was hoping it would be a lot like Moji in Peachtree Plaza. Sadly, there were quite a few issues. First, my small order of 2 ramen and 2 large roasted green tea cold milk teas took 20 minutes. The server, although very sweet, watched as I packed up my own order into the takeout bag because she seemed helpless to do it herself. She did open the door for me...so very strange. The food itself wasn't bad but way overpriced for the quantity and quality. The pork pieces in the ramen were fairly good, the broth was decent however, don't expect Kinton quality, at least you get a whole egg. The egg was slightly overdone. The noodles were fresh however they were stuck together so I believe they were made ahead of time and refrigerated. If that was the case then why did it take so long to make order? It was also quite a small order and for the price I was expecting more of everything. The roasted green tea is very tasty but for $5.99 for the large, I do expect to be able to customize my order eg. make less sweet etc. It only comes one way and that's it. This place has potential, I do hope they decide to check out Moji and see what more they can do. Either that or lower the prices. read more

Salmon Avacado with Kale is what attracted me to this restaurant.. it is like a twist to a regular poké bowl. I absolutley loved this poké noodle bowl as i find this a little lighter than havin a full bowl of rice. I also tried the iced black milk tea - it was pretty smooth !! This small restaurant is clean and doesn't have much seating- i would recommend coming here for take out or just come with a super small group (1 or 2 people) I would definitely come back and have the same dish again. The price is fair for poké bowls- my bill for the bowl + drink was about $20 all in. read more
This is a Japanese cafe with both poke and ramen and also, coffee drinks and pastries! This place is unique in that everything generally taste pretty good and you can combo up your meals with drinks and desserts for an extra $2 to $4 or so; however, the deal is only available at certain times. The poke trend had reached markham finally!! My sister and I ventured up after she said she'd never had poke....time to rectify this immediately. The good - Lots of free parking available. -Server was so lovely and helped us navigate the menu and even recommended sauces and add ons and substitutions. - Great coffee selection on hand - Very attentive servers who Che led up on us and the server even asked how we enjoyed everything. - Cozy place..intetior is so cute. - Fresh delicious beautifully played good. The bad - Very pricy but then again this is seafood?! -Tiny spot with limited seating. I'll be back for sure...yelpers head on over! read more
