What a fantastic lunch stop here at Kona Bay Cafe on a sunny afternoon! Waterside dining is one of our favorite things to do. We sat outside across from the Lantana Bicentennial Park and enjoyed people watching while eating our lunch. I like playing tourist now and then, so I found this casual eatery in Lantana near the intracoastal. It was pleasant weather, so we sat at a table on their outside patio facing Ocean Avenue with a view of the bridge, and the water, and a park. There's a pay lot right next to the restaurant. It's $2 an hour plus a convenience fee of 40 cents through Park Mobile. He wanted lunch and I decided on breakfast -- which they serve "all day" (they close at 2 pm). He got a gorgeous looking salad (the luau salad) and chose to add on a scoop of tuna salad. The large bowl had a bit of everything in it from feta to fresh fruit. He said it was very good. I had their crab benny. I got my eggs well done and the Hollandaise on the side. The crab cake was more like a corn cake with bits of crab. But the English muffins were nicely toasted and my eggs were cooked "hard" as requested. The hash brown potatoes were very good. We had very good service. And we did t have to wait very long for our food to arrive. It was relaxing to sit outside. One of the gals seated nearby told me that her burger was excellent. This was my first time ever dining here. I've had their food before, but it was delivered. It was recommended by some friends and did not disappoint. Having it served fresh was even better. Understandably, there was a bit of a wait on the weekend. But despite this place being super busy, the staff was fast and friendly. Not only was our server attentive, but the other servers would tend to the tables if they noticed something as well (low drink glass, dirty plates, etc). The best part was getting the yummy food. Their crab cake benny was so fresh tasting and flavorful. Every bite was literally perfect, especially with a side of their home fries. I tasted the pumpkin pancakes that took up an entire plate by themselves. They were so fluffy and good - just the right amount of spice. I was delighted by the food. I need to put on a few pounds so I chose the most fattening thing I could on the menu. Lobster and brie cream cheese filled omelette. To order takeout one sits at the bar and I was given a menu. I was told that Oscar would take care of my order. I said interesting. My Indian ringneck is named Oscar. Of course, when Oscar delivered my food, I had to show him a picture of Oscar. It was early in the afternoon and the restaurant was quite busy, especially a lot of diners sitting outside in these retro chairs, which were my favorite color turquoise. I will definitely dine there again as the food was delicious and the portions were large. I have half of that meal to finish today. It is very convenient and right down the way from Trader Joe's, where I shop quite often. The staff was friendly and courteous, always a pleasure. The atmosphere is your typical, glorious coastal southeastern, Florida standard, which is always outstanding! I ordered the mushroom Swiss burger, which I promptly devoured quickly, and Yummioso it was! We were a party of four seated promptly, food delivery was slightly on the slow side, but they're jammed up busy today, and it's high season, so that is to be expected. It was worth the wait, as all four of us throughly enjoyed our meals, the classic BLT, Big Kahuna, and veggie omelette. While this cafe does sit on the intracoastal, there's no water view while dining (at least from where we sat on the sidewalk). What I liked most was the capable service. These women floated around -seemingly effortlessly- and took care of the full house. We had the tropical fruit platter with yogurt and it was very satisfying and not overpriced. Another had the granola and yogurt parfait and raved about it. We watched the people at the next table with omelets and pancakes which were generously portioned and looked delicious. I wished the tables with the little garbage cans on top were cleaner but it wasn't a significant drawback. I won't make an effort to return but it was a pleasant stop for a small bite. read more

We came to this place on a whim when trying to find a brunch spot . The parking lot is not free - so make sure you pay so you don't get a ticket ! The restaurant is by the water - which is super beautiful . The outdoor patio is on the side with the road, which makes it a bit less appealing hearing all the cars go by. We had our annual fishing trip this year and 21 people raid d this place on a day when the wind was blowing and the boat probably should have even gone out. We packed the outdoor seating area and the waitresses went to work. They handled this rambunctious group of mainly northeastern visitors like a fluid team. Awesome Sunday Brunch Come early because you will see the line coming out the door before you can spot a parking spot. (I parked in the small park across the street.) Space is kinda small but they can accommodate large parties. Our first trip here we bring over 10 people and 2 kids with picky tastes. Grab the mimosas served in huge wine glasses or a cup of coffee to sip while eyeing the menu. But best to actually check the menu online while you're waiting in line. The wait is crazy long - if you don't have patience please don't come. While drinks came out quickly the food flowed out rather slowly. It sucks to stalk the kitchen door and pray every plate moving towards you is yours. I wanted to update because we came back again for a second time. The staff here have such a sunny attitude and dining here is a great experience. The food is fresh and good and I really enjoyed all my food. (And I ate alot.) I had the Coconut French Toast. Now normally I am not a French Toast person. (I am more of a Belgian waffle girl). But I decided to go outside my comfort zone. It was so good! This place has standard brunch items but also a few really unique dishes. And it does have sort of a Hawaiian feel as befitting its name. Loved the sunny attitudes of the staff. Plus it is wonderful to dine outside. This place is a find! If you do not want to do the brunch thing they also offer wraps and sandwiches. It isn't only breakfast items although the two times I went, I did get breakfast. Eating outside is great and the atmosphere is so.. for lack of a better term..Florida. It is a good place. Now. You should know if you do the brunch thing on a weekend there may indeed be a wait. The first time we came here we were seated right away. The second time there was a short wait. Honestly they get PACKED on Sundays. So it is a good place to go but it gets crowded some days, Sundays especially. No matter really as you can just enjoy the relaxing atmosphere.
