WARNING!!! DO NOT BRING YOUR THINGS HERE!! I have never been so disgusted by a group of employees in my entire life. Not only did they ruin a brand designer sweater, I have been met with nothing but rudeness, catty comments and homophobia, especially from Desiré (if that's even her real name). I did not know that they don't actually clean anything here. Everything is transported to another facility. En route, the sweater was damaged and there are multiple obvious oil stains. From the get-go I was gas lit and now they want me to get a hold of someone named Emma who works two hours a day and Carlos who won't answer his phone, to get a refund for my sweater. No instructions, no forms to fill out. Nothing. It's just empty words. This is a $2000 sweater and nearly impossible to replace. I've spent countless hours dealing with this and it's basically become a full time job to get justice. I wouldn't even bring trash here to get cleaned. These people are untrustworthy, manipulative, and so disrespectful. Especially to people who have been supporting their business for years. I started using this cleaner a few months ago and averaged over $145.00 in cleaning monthly. Everything was going well until recently when I brought in a pair of Khaki Slacks to get dry-cleaned. When I picked up the pants I dropped off not only were they a different pair of pants (not slacks) but they tried to insist they were mine although, they were 4 inches shorter in the inseam length. Emma confirmed they were 4" shorter after measuring them herself but continued to be rude and insist they were my pants. So, if you truly analyze this scenario you will see that a mediator in small claims court would not have a problem in ruling in favor of the customer-1) They are not slacks, 2)different brand, 3)not my size, 4)nothing comparable to what I bring in to get dry cleaned,5)a worn pair of pants which I took images of with my cell to prove they're not my pants, 6)my personal time spent in dealing with their irresponsible actions, just to name a few. Emma, continues in being absolutely unprofessional and simply doesn't have an answer. How a so-called reputable cleaners can screw up so bad to lose my pants and then insist the pants they shrunk 4" are mine. Not taking any responsibility/accountability for their mistake. All, I originally expressed to Emma, I would give them a couple weeks to see if they would find my slacks or hopefully someone would return them if mistakenly given out to another customer. Emma continues to default to someone named Carlos who was supposed to call me but I'm yet to hear from him and now we are going on the 4th week without resolution. I have emailed Emma with all the details and even had to purchase another pair of slacks for work without being reimbursed by Kona. My guess is they could have tagged my pants incorrectly during sorting or the tag came off during the dry cleaning process and they mistakenly put on another pair of pants and added to my order. This is the only common sense thing I can make out of this situation. I would caution anyone who's considering using this cleaners. Risky business. read more

The Vivian and the staff are always friendly and willing to help. In June I moved to Huntington Beach and began going to the HB location. This place does great marketing with their punch cards but I can't even tell you how many times I've chosen to take my stuff to a different cleaner because I didn't have my card on me and they won't allow you to bring it during pick up. Without the punch card this place is pretty pricy which is why I take things elsewhere. Why is this such a hard thing to be able to do? Why not be able to use the card when I'm paying at pickup? Ugh I hate to give this place a bad review because the customer service and the ladies that work there are excellent, but I am just really unsatisfied with my clothes. I sent an email but did not receive a response and I moved out of the area this week so dropping them off to be redone is just inconvenient. This last time, my clothes were all pressed, but there is no way they were cleaned. When I dropped them off I advised they need a good cleaning because the state I was in was really hot and they had been in a suit case. I received the whole order back which smell like they are dirty to the point I can not wear them and they still have dog hair and lint on them. In addition there are two creases in the pant leg. This isn't the first time I had an issue so that's why I decided to post. Another time the clothes smelled like really strong chemicals. Found this dry cleaner by trial and error. Tried a few cleaners around my house and didn't like them then stubbed upon kona. These guys are awesome. You can really tell the family owned difference. After my first trip I got a personalized thank you in the mail for my business which made me feel special. Josseline is usually in the store when I come by and she is fantastic. I picked it up for the second time & it looks like it was pressed in the wrong area. (I wanted it steamed not pressed). It's a brand new expensive blouse & not difficult to clean. I have come to Kona time and time again, even though they are really bad, because they are so convenient, but I have finally learned my lesson! First off they are expensive, we're talking over $25 for 2 basic cotton, non-beaded mini dresses. Secondly, in October we had a suit cleaned that had only been worn like twice, to interviews, and was in great condition. After Kona cleaned it, when my man put it on for his sister's wedding rehearsal, there were burn marks on the pants...they looked a whole lot like cigarette burns! And finally this past July 4th weekend, I had a simple, cotton dress taken in to be cleaned, which should have been easy money. I skipped my gym session the morning after it was supposed to be done, so I could get it for my vacation and they still had not gotten it in...like 3 days after I originally brought it in! They said it would be there within the next hour and a half. Because the dress was really important to me,I convinced my man to pick it up. Later I found out that when he went to pick it up, 3 hours after I had been there, my dress STILL was not there and he was told to go to the Costa Mesa location to pick it up. Not to be a snob, but when I'm paying 12 bucks to have a seriously easy dress cleaned, you should have some accountability to have it at your location if not by the original time promised, then at least by the later time you say it will DEFINITELY be there! Oh yeah and I had pre-paid $20 up front and even after us going to the HB location (where the dresses were dropped off) twice, both times they did not have my dresses like they said they would and then making us drive to Costa Mesa, waaaay out of the way to get it and they still charged him an extra $5! Listen, I guarantee that it took him more than $5 in gas to get to CM and back, so the least they could have done is to offer some sort of consideration to try and salvage the relationship with the customer...but no, they didn't. I would never recommend Kona for any dry cleaning needs, they are quite expensive for sub par service; damaging clothes and not having the responsibility to have your garments cleaned in the time-frame they promise, causing you to have to drive around to find your clothes . Instead, go to the cheap cleaners by Costco in FV, they have never delayed or damaged my clothes and I've probably had 150+ pieces cleaned there. Celebrity Cleaners in Newport is also really good, sure they are pretty pricey, but their service is actually worth it! read more

We've been going to Kona cleaners regularly for about year as we moved and it is right around the corner from our house. I do agree with a previous review that they seem to be a bit higher priced than other cleaners, but they were convenient. We usually are happy with the results, but defintely not with the latest incident. My fiance dropped off a pair of pants to be cleaned on a Monday for a last minute job interview on Thursday. They said they would be ready by Wednesday, but when he showed up they couldn't find his pants. They said their system broke so they had to clean offsite. My fiance said no probelem and that he understood that things like that could happen so he said if you could you tell me where they are and I will drive over and pick them up. They called the offsite place and still couldn't find them. My fiance just stood there in complete shock and told them these were brand new pants that he needed for an interview, so he really needed them to be found. They called him an hour later and said they still couldn't locate the pants. He ended up having to go out that night and buy new pants to match his suit, which cost about $60. I told him to take the receipt to them and ask to be reimbursed. He went back the following week with the receipt and they said they couldn't reimburse him because they eventually found his pants days later! Whaaaat! Are you kidding me! (but they did tell him that they wouldn't charge him for the cleaning!!!! I guess that's their attempt at customer service) I can understand when accidents are out of your control, but they at least should have attempted to make things right. We will take our business elsewhere from now on. read more

I cannot tell you how frustrated I am with this organization! Emma has bailed us out several times, but poor service keeps happening. I have lost my patience and absolutely cannot recommend them at all for their services. Clothes have been lost, my husband's panama hat was ruined.
