The Pad Thai looked more like chopped spaghetti, was dry, and tasted nothing like Pad Thai. After only a couple of bites, I stopped eating. My waiter was friendly and attentive, noticed the issue, and offered to replace it. I switched to a sushi roll, which was acceptable but closer to supermarket sushi than restaurant quality. My guest somewhat enjoyed their steak dish but commented that it was extremely salty, which was notable because they rarely criticize food. We went to celebrate my wife's birthday with our kids, grandkids & my mom. There wasn't many people in the restaurant. Both my son in laws & myself ordered the Asian salad with chicken or shrimp. Came to Kona Grill for a quick bite before a movie and left pretty disappointed. The food was overpriced for what we received, especially when compared to other sushi restaurants in the area. Our dumplings took over 20 minutes to arrive, and my sushi roll took more than 40 minutes. What made this even more frustrating was that the restaurant wasn't very busy on a Sunday evening. The bartender was friendly, attentive, and repeatedly apologized for the delays, so no complaints there. Unfortunately, management handled the situation poorly. The manager spent most of the time upstairs, then came down and spent over 10 minutes chatting with another server before standing at the host stand. I eventually had to call him over myself. When he finally spoke with us, he didn't seem particularly apologetic, although he assured us he would "take care of us." It was a little awkward though because they kept pressuring me to order more. I'm a pretty small person and it was awkward, because the staff kept making comments like "no protein"? Or "Do you want to add things to go?" Or when I was deciding whether to get sushi or the penne, they were like "Get both". It didn't feel very classy. I also don't mind paying higher prices for food if the food is worth it. This was not a $72 meal in any way shape or form for me and my friend. The poke bowl I got was also not great. Some of the salmon were ICE COLD and when I bit into it I thought it wasn't even thawed out all way making me feel like it was frozen. Probably the worst service I've received in a very long time. Restaurant was nearly empty and it still took over an hour to get a second round of drinks. No water refill. No check ins from the waitress. We asked the bartender if he was working on our order and he said, no, he was cleaning. Manager finally came down to help him but never apologized for the issues. It was Happy Hour, so we started with the Featured Crab Crunch Roll ($6). It was exactly as you'd expect: Crab + Eel in a Sticky (Unsweet) Rice Wrap. 6 pieces, each Yummy, but not Overwhelming. . Our Entrees; However, we're NOTHING LESS THAN PHENOMENAL. . Let's start with my Entree: the Crab & Brie Stuffed Salmon. Although I couldn't place the Crab nor Brie, this salmon was lightly seared - -fiving it an almost poached taste. The skin had been removed, only one side was seared (lightly) and that still left the protein very tender yet flaky - well cooked, but not overdone. The Turmeric-infused rice side was delisious, a small bit al dente, with a hearty Indian flavor. The Broccoli cloves were also al dente, and had a great Sesame, onio taste. My wife stole most of them off my plate. . My wife ordered the Wagyu-Fried Rice as a light small plate of an entree. Still, it was a very decent size - akin to most any small plate you'd find at any such upscale restaurant. My wife never had Wagyu before and she LITERALLY held each bite in her mouth and let it melt before starting on another. I took a single bite and was jealous. Wagyu is Wagyu. If you had it, you know why Metropolitan restaurants often charge by the ounce for a Wagyu Serving. It's simply phenomenal. .\ Our total bill for 1 Crab Roll, two entrees, and two sodas came to $74 before tip. Sounds pricy, but considering EVERY UPGRADE we ordered as far as proteins, it was a very reasonable (and exquisitely yummy) meal for two. I'm super glad we found Kona. It was mehh, i followed that with the filet and green beans and brussels sprouts. Steak was cooked to my liking but typically, I like a char on the outside. This was not that. The green beans were great done a difficult to mess those up. The brussels sprouts were crispy but too oily for me so I didn't finish them at all. Three of us sat at the bar. Two people ordered old fashions. They were some of the worst. I had a trio of margaritas which didn't have any flavor. The potstickers were awful. We ordered a spicy tuna roll which was so spicy that you couldn't taste the tuna. We did complain about this and ordered the chicken lettuce roll ups instead. The roll ups were just as bad just not spicy. It was like someone spit in bowl. The 2 sea bass sliders were very fishy and not worth the money. The 2 hamburger sliders were small as well. We did not enjoy our experience here at the Kona Grill. I have been to the Liberty Center location and had wonderful experiences, but this Easton location did not live up to that standard. We arrived on a Saturday night, with no reservation, at 5:30pm. We were able to grab seats at the bar, which is our preferred location when it's just the two us. The restaurant was mostly empty but it took quite some time for the three bartenders to acknowledge us. We ordered a drink and a sushi roll. After dropping off our drink the staff didn't speak to us again for 30 minutes, when we flagged down our server, asked for bill and canceled our sushi roll. It had been a while since I had been to Kona Grill, but now I have been to Kona Grill twice in the past few months! It seems to be a bit more upscale now than it was a couple of years ago. When walking in, you are greeted with a beautiful, floral backdrop on your right and a "fire pit" on your left. The decor is gorgeous throughout the entire restaurant. I love that there are flowers everywhere as it makes the vibe warm, welcoming, and romantic. On both recent visits, the service was impeccable. Staff are constantly walking the room and making sure that everyone's needs are being met. On both recent visits, I ordered the angry edamame, regular edamame, the crispy soy brussel sprouts, and the poke bowl. Everything is so GOOD! The angry edamame is one of my favorites - super spicy and packed full of flavor. The crispy soy brussel sprouts are cooked to perfection. The poke bowl has great flavor, but seems small in size (for $24) and could use more toppings. From what I remember, the sushi rolls have always been great as well. I like the addition of the live DJ on weekend nights too! Ohhh, I almost forgot - the carrot cake! Oh my goodness! HUGE portion size and so tasty! I will definitely order it again! The ambience downstairs seems more of a cafeteria style than dining at $20+ an entree. Service- the girl being trained was more professional than the woman training her. We ordered 2 Rootbeer floats for for our twins and the trainer lady came back to our table to make sure we knew we were ordering $12 Rootbeer floats. Really. Yes. Like we couldn't afford it. The worst part of the meal was my deep fried sushi roll 5 slices drowned in a thick teriyaki/soy sauce for over $20. Never again.
