The food wad delicious overall. The bread was pretty crunchy. The bacon in the burger was also very crunchy. The service was nice. It was a little awkward though because they kept pressuring me to order more. I'm a pretty small person and it was awkward, because the staff kept making comments like "no protein"? Or "Do you want to add things to go?" Or when I was deciding whether to get sushi or the penne, they were like "Get both". It didn't feel very classy. To add, when we were about halfway through the meal they asked us if we wanted takeout boxes and that they could get the bill out. We also talked about how it was weird that the meatballs never came out, and that it would be nice to get the free appetizer like the menu stated but it was okay that it wasn't there.

YE Gurl Says: Nostalgia Didn't Survive the Trip to Kona Grill Place: Kona Grill Date: April 11, 2026 Let's just get straight to it--this wasn't the Kona I remember. I walked in holding onto years of loyalty. Back in the 90s and 2000s, Kona Grill was that spot--reliable sushi, strong drinks, and a guaranteed good time whether I was in Atlanta or Las Vegas. It was a go-to for work travel and an easy "yes" for date nights. So when it finally landed in Ohio? I was genuinely excited. Maybe too excited. I pitched it for a girls' lunch, thinking I was about to reintroduce everyone to a classic. Yeah... no. From the moment we sat down, the tone felt off. I arrived a little late, but somehow the energy at the table already felt... stalled. Our server seemed preoccupied and honestly looked over it--and this was early in the shift. It took about 20 minutes just to get the 3-for menu, and once we ordered? Another 30-45 minutes for the food. Let's talk about what actually hit the table: * Spicy tuna roll -- not spicy. At all. * Bama roll -- rice stuck to the plate like it didn't want to be served. * Timing -- painfully slow, especially for a spot that was maybe 1/3 full (about six tables total) I went with the prix fixe option (one of the few things that felt reasonably priced), which included sushi, a drink, salad, and dessert. My chicas ordered hot entrées--curry bowl, chicken dish, sake. Nothing overly complex that should've justified that kind of wait. What should've been a quick, easy lunch turned into a nearly 2-hour commitment between waiting to order, waiting for food, and waiting for the check. And let's not ignore the elephant in the room: Suggested tips starting at 17%... for this level of service? That's a tough sell. YE Gurl Says: This one hurt a little. Not because it was terrible--but because it didn't live up to what it used to be. Nostalgia carried this visit further than the actual experience did. Big picture? This felt like a restaurant trying to charge big-city prices without delivering big-city execution--and that gap shows. Between slow service, underwhelming food, and a lack of attention to detail, it just didn't justify the time or cost. Final take: If you've got memories of Kona from back in the day... you might want to let them stay right where they are.

Came here for lunch with some friends and to say the least, it was a disappointing experience. The menu looked delicious so I went with the Kona favorite Macadamia Nut Chicken. The dish was definitely lackluster and no where as eloquent as the dish looked online. Service was friendly but slow and as if she didn't even care to serve us. Getting menus alone took 30 minutes, our food probably close to 30 minutes as well. Drinks even took awhile and all I ordered with a sake that came in a bottle. The restaurant was pretty empty so I'm not sure what the long waits came from. I liked the photo wall when you walked in but everything else just reminded me of a cafe. I was pretty appalled by the menu prices considering the vibe of the establishment. Overall, I don't think I'll be returning. Poor service and poor food ruined it for me.

I came to Kona Grill with a friend to try their $3, $6, $9 happy hour and (outside of the shrimp taco) it didn't disappoint! The chicken fried rice was my fav, followed by the sushi roll, then the sliders. I also had a frozen margarita and one on the rocks. The restaurant is huge and has plenty of bar and patio seating. I've also stopped by for their late night happy as well and it was a vibe.

Decided to try this location since we've walked past it a few times. It was pretty quiet on a Monday night and we were seated quickly. My husband ordered the filet medium with whipped potatoes and green beans. I ordered the miso Chilean sea bass with bok choy. At first, I was a little shocked at the portion size for the cost. The fish was a bit small but packed with flavor. The bok choy was cooked perfectly. My husbands green beans were cold and when the manager realized it, he brought a new fresh hot plate of green beans. They were really good. The sauce is great. Overall, food was very good.

First time stopping in- pros good customer service, every was very frieyans attentive. Atmosphere was casual but has background music playing not to loud so you could carryon a conversation. They are known for steaks, sushi and drinks. I don't get any sushi but rolls looked very tasty. The calamari was good not overcooked and had a moderately spicy sauce to dip in. The burger and fries were good. Fries just a bit greasy but presentation is very nice, Enjoyed the soft bun and onions. Liked that lettuce and tomato are served on the side. Plenty of parking in garage across from restaurant.

Probably will not be returning here. The service here was not great. We barely saw our server and the pace the food came out for raw fish was VERY SLOW. I also don't mind paying higher prices for food if the food is worth it. This was not a $72 meal in any way shape or form for me and my friend. The poke bowl I got was also not great. Some of the salmon were ICE COLD and when I bit into it I thought it wasn't even thawed out all way making me feel like it was frozen. The place in it of itself though was clean and nicely decorated and the host seemed to know what was going on. This was my first and last time going here.

This was a nice restaurant however I do think the food was overpriced for what we got. Additionally, the restaurant was empty and the service took forever, once we got our food, our server never checked on us again. Fried rice was good but somewhat plain. The ambiance was fine, nothing crazy, we went on a weekday and it was fine.

Really poorly made vegetable sushi roll.

Probably the worst service I've received in a very long time. Restaurant was nearly empty and it still took over an hour to get a second round of drinks. No water refill. No check ins from the waitress. We asked the bartender if he was working on our order and he said, no, he was cleaning. Manager finally came down to help him but never apologized for the issues. Also, the vegetable egg roll came to the table and we were told, "sorry, he's not very good at that kind of sushi". Ridiculous. They truly don't care.

I ordered the pot stickers the cilantro, chicken and rice and the kg burger and fries bill was 103!!! We had a table of 10 the lighting was beautiful the food was delicious! A little over priced but the experience was great! Our server was nice but seemed a little dry. You can tell she was tired and ready to go home but got all our order right! Nothing was sent back!!!! Great place to come too and loved its photo friendly!

We were back at Kona again. Jaclyn the manager helped our Dining experience a night to remember again. Our waiter Demeon did an excellent job making our night a memorable one. Salads were delicious and fresh. We had the steak night and our meat came out perfect into our likings. The dessert really good as always. Place was great with nice music from the DJ. We were seated at the enclosed patio. So romantic with Flurries outside. Thanks Kona.

    Spicy tuna roll

Restaurant was empty and yet it there was no one available to seat our party of two. The server took over 5 minutes to come to the table. Our avocado egg rolls were not cooked and the dough was raw. We each ordered a sushi roll that was served on the same plate. The spicy tuna roll had very wet rice and the tuna was questionable. Not worth the hour we spent in the restaurant.

Can you tell me what is wrong with this picture?

It's truly special when a server makes the effort to get to know everyone at the table, make jokes and join in on the laughs. I was visiting Columbus for the weekend, and throughout the rest of my stay after dinner, I can say this meal was a highlight! The atmosphere was beautiful, and we were seated right away! The cocktails were amazing, I had a strawberry fields. Now as for the short ribs, they melted in my mouth! They paired perfectly with the risotto, truly a great plate of food that felt like home! I have already recommended this place to friends visiting Columbus soon!

We visited yesterday around 3 PM after seeing the new Mario movie. We didn't have a reservation, but seating wasn't an issue at that time. As always, the restaurant was clean, lively, and welcoming. The staff was very kind, and our waitress was attentive throughout our visit. We ordered many of our usual favorites, but my entrée--the braised short rib--was not quite up to the standard I've come to expect. While the meat itself was still tender, moist, and flavorful, the risotto was disappointing. It lacked its usual creamy texture and was noticeably too thick. Additionally, the dish was served with only carrots as the root vegetable, whereas in the past it has included a variety of vegetables that really elevated the overall flavor and presentation. I was especially disappointed because this was actually the first time I remembered to take a photo of my meal before digging in. I came in fully intending to finally leave a glowing five-star review based on all of our previous great experiences--but unfortunately, this visit didn't live up to that expectation. This was surprising, especially given how consistently great this dish--and the restaurant overall--has been during our previous visits. We've dined here at least five times this year and even celebrated our son's third birthday here, so this experience felt out of character. One difference worth noting is that we typically visit for dinner, and this was our first time coming during the afternoon. It's possible there may be differences in the kitchen or service during that time. We do plan to return, as we're hoping this was just an off day. This place has earned a lot of goodwill from us over time, but we wanted to share this experience in case it's helpful for others.

For $20, you get a starter, an entrée, and a dessert, which is hard to beat. The restaurant was quiet without feeling empty, and the background music was just loud enough to create a nice atmosphere while still allowing us to have a conversation. The dining room and the restroom were both clean, which I always appreciate. Our server, Liz, was the highlight of the visit. She was prompt, attentive, and refreshingly honest when I asked about menu substitutions. Instead of saying everything on the menu was great just to make a sale, she gave genuine recommendations, and I really appreciated that. She also stayed on top of our drinks, bringing refills before we ever had to ask. She checked on us several times throughout the meal without being intrusive. We ordered the Cookie Skillet for dessert, and she waited until we were actually finished eating before bringing it out so the ice cream wouldn't melt. It's those little details that make a difference. I started with the fresh garden salad, followed by the BB-style pizza with pepperoni and sausage. At first glance, it looked like sausage only because the pepperoni is layered under the cheese. The pizza was loaded with cheese and toppings, and the crust had a nice texture. The sauce leaned more savory than sweet. I personally prefer a sweeter pizza sauce, but it was still flavorful and enjoyable. We also shared the Carolina Gold chicken chunks, onion rings, and provolone wedges. The onion rings had a nice crispy coating and actually tasted like onions, which isn't always the case. The Carolina Gold chicken chunks were generously coated in the Carolina Gold sauce, but the chicken itself was pretty bland and mostly tasted like the sauce. I also think they could have been cooked just a little longer. The provolone wedges were hot, cheesy, and tasty--it's hard to mess those up, but they definitely hit the spot. The Cookie Skillet was the perfect way to end the meal. The cookie was served warm with crispy edges and a soft, gooey center filled with melted chocolate chips. It was topped with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate drizzle, and pecans. Even though I boxed up the rest of my meal to take home, I made sure to eat the cookie while it was still warm with the melting ice cream, and I'm glad I did. It was definitely my favorite part of the meal. One small observation: the restroom doors open inward, so if you've got a big back like me, getting out can be a little awkward. Thankfully, the restroom itself was very clean. Overall, I think the 614 Restaurant Week special is a great deal. Between the generous portions, comfortable atmosphere, clean restaurant, and exceptional service from Liz, I'd definitely come back. The food wasn't perfect, which is why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5, but I'd absolutely recommend Beer Barrel Pizza & Grill if you're looking for a casual place where you can enjoy a good meal, have a conversation, and get a lot of food for the price.

Staffing appeared to be an issue, which was made apparent when it took a while just to get our water. At least the complimentary bread was good! My appetizer was the sausage stuffed mushrooms. The presentation really needed some work, but it was delicious. The sausage had a hint of spice and the mushrooms were cooked perfectly. I then got the chicken parmesan, which came with a side of pasta. Again, excellent dish. Very moist chicken. For dessert, I opted for the turtle cheesecake since limoncello was out of the question. Two others in my party ordered the banana cheesecake, only for our waitress to come out just before handing us our dishes and say, "We're actually out of that too, so you're getting turtle cheesecake." Everyone in my group had to swap out our initial choice, so we weren't thrilled. The turtle cheesecake was delicious though! I was quite surprised. However, the slice was pitiful! It was so small! I felt jipped. To top it off, we had to bus our table at some points because no one took our plates. There wasn't any room for the dessert, so we used the nearby counter to stack our dishes. I really wanted to give a positive review because I enjoyed the food, but the poor service and running out of dessert options ruined it.

What a shame, out for a romantic dinner with a special someone only to be let down. Absolutely unbelievable. yes, it was the end of the night. However, I felt that we were hovered over an eyeball to hurry up so they could get their night going. Keep in mind it said that it was open for another hour when we got there and I even called from the parking lot to make sure, in the Cook himself said they were open, but when I got there, the concierge lady said they were close, but then figured why not let me eat. Seems rather strange. I could hear them in the kitchen with loud music and let seem to be partying going on. Guessing there is no supervision here. I noticed the other server was using the computer for food and drink orders for a party out in another area, however, ours wrote it on a piece of paper and took it back so I am hoping the money wasn't pocketed. The parking lot seemed extremely dangerous with what looked to be gang activity, loud, sketchy, looking vehicles, and people literally standing in the parking lot, staring us down as we got in the car.... Surprised we did not get mugged. I definitely had my mace in hand. $200.00 worth of doom and gloom.

They were very forgiving to me not liking the drink, got the wrong side and offered to bring the correct one out. Left the broccolini on the table aswell. I really enjoyed my lunch, I had lamb . Which was mad fantastically. The petite lamb chops were very easy to eat. And so tender, I got them pink. Shrimp was OK. I got the cucumber mojito which was amazing aswell. Definitely pay for the experience but worth every penny in my opinion. I would love to come back and visit to try more dishes.

This one didn't offer one, which was a general disappointment (and offering to be might benefit them-- the place was dead for most of the two hours we were there). The space is beautiful and luxurious: a lovely fountain is in the center and signature chandeliers fill the dining area. I was a little disappointed that the choices of seating were were given -- though the place was empty-- was either a very small table (so small our servers apologized for having to awkwardly stack things as dishes came out) or a table attached to the only other large party dining there. Felt like a very strange choice. Also, while the place is very upscale and very expensive, that vibe was somewhat at odds with other diners who did arrive in what literally looked like old pajama pants and workout gear. The food was all good, but portions are very small for the big prices: entrees are all in the $50 range, sandwiches in the $30 range. A "petite" baked potato (which is petite indeed) was $14; burrata was $26. It was fine, but you can have a true consistently upscale experience elsewhere for those kinds of prices. I'd come back -- if there was a happy hour!
