I was really surprised by the sushi here. I typically avoid sushi restaurants with such westernized names and even decor. (The inside looks like a tavern with a sushi bar) I ordered a few sashimi pieces and also a spicy scallop handroll and California handroll. Made a reservation for a Saturday dinner. There's street parking but goodluck with that, there is a paid parking though across the street. Sushi and sashimi's were fresh, especially the sweet shrimp. Agedashi Tofu is a fave of mine and it was cooked nicely and was good. Soft shell crab appetizer was so-so, the breading was so thick it masked the crab taste. The downside was the service. Located in the Short North off of High street this sushi place used to be packed and hard to get a reservation. Its a little easier to get a table now but I still suggest getting a reservation. As far as the space: its a long narrow restaurant. With a front room and back room. The front has a long bar with seats leading up to the sushi station. Opposite of the bar are booths. At the end of the room there are three or four stairs leading to a back room with more seating. The colors are muted.. the vibe is cozy. The cocktail menu is limited however the bar seems nicely stocked, so iI bet they can accommodate requests. The menu has a lot of choices. They have hot and cold appetizers, they have hibachi They has sashimi and sushi... oh so much sushi. It was quite hard to pick a roll as they all looked delicious. We ended up getting six or seven rolls, so they came out on a boat platte, which was cute. We even added sone basic rolls later. Service was great and added to the experience. We ordered several rolls (galaxy roll, blue crab roll, dynamite Roll, flying dragon roll, etc., and were not disappointed with any of them. The day we came here the service was a bit slow but that's because they had a huge influx of customers and the server always remained in good cheer. Very disappointed, which I am very sad about. I have been looking forward to trying 1126 for so long and had heard such good things. I ordered the chicken hibachi which started off with miso soup. The miso soup was cold when it came out. Then the chicken hibachi came out and I enjoyed it at first, until I found an eyelash in my food. I know for some people they are able to continue eating their food but this just really grossed me out. I told the waitress very quietly and politely and she just responded with oh I am sorry. I didnt hear anything from her about it after which I was disappointed about because most restaurants would let you know they have told the staff or cooks or are remaking your food. Finally, towards the end of dinner, flies began flying all around our table. I counted about 5 or 6 flying around my seat. Generous sized rolls, friendly service, and quality sushi make this a WIN! We were all feeling the chill from the cold winter weather so we started with bowls of miso soup. Nice and soothing start to the meal. We ordered the Spicy Maki Combo - Spicy tuna roll, spicy yellowtail roll and spicy salmon roll. The rolls had a small amount of tempura flakes in them which did absolutely wonders for the texture and made them so much more filling - I wish all places added that in maki rolls. Usually maki rolls are not particularly large or filling, but these definitely WERE. We also ordered the Sakura roll and one more, but I can't remember what it was. If you want to make-sure you have a space, make sure to make a reservation! PROS: -Delicious, delicious, DELICIOUS sushi. I absolutely loved the rolls I got here. They clearly get a bit busy during peak food hours, though, so plan ahead! -Cute place! Despite being a relatively long and slim locale, they've done a good job keeping seating to a somewhat minimum, so it feels intimate and cute. It's a long narrow room with seating at the bar, a few tables towards the front and back, and lots of booths. There's also a back area which can seat large parties. My friend got the Galaxy roll and fantastic roll. Very fresh! Probably some of the best sushi in Columbus! Not sure why a lot of people don't know more about it. The prices are high, but you're paying for quality sushi from a highly skilled sushi chef. It's definitely a smaller sized sushi piece, but that's how it is in Japan. My friends and I came here for one of their birthdays and we came with the big group. They take big group reservations which was great we can snag one in the Short North on a Saturday night. It was really good set-up they had us in the back with a group for 12, the service was solid. Me and boyfriend ordered the Tempura Appetizer for our starter and it was pretty good - the shrimp was really good and crispy. They had fried sweet potatoes, that was interesting. I ordered the hibachi since i'm not the biggest fan of sushi and the hibachi was SOO GOOD! We were fairly excited for this one due to the excellent ambiance and professional quality to the service staff. Unfortunately, in addition to coming out slowly, the food itself was fairly disappointing. The tempura was thick and overly-battered, instead of light and crisp. The quality of the yellowtail was middling at best. The age tofu was off-tasting. Worse, one of the two bottles of tap-water tasted slightly of rust, as if the tap needed to be run before filling the bottle, and had not. I'm torn with this review, but I told myself to stay honest to my experiences whenever I go out. My reason for the the 3 stars isn't because of the food. In fact, our sushi was quite good. This has more to do with the overall experiences we had, maybe we picked a bad day to go.. who knows. Let's start with food first. We went there for the sushi since my boyfriend was craving it. He had the Kiss of Fire sushi Roll and I had their Colorful Roll. Both of which were good and not spicy on our opinion, but we like things hot. Our drinks were good, and we tried a Japanese's whisky, never had one and I would have it again. That's kind of where the good stuff ends. I don't think I ever felt more unwelcome than any other place than there, and it wasn't because the staff wasn't nice. Everyone was really nice there. But no one wants to feel neglected. I understand a lot goes into being a bar tender, but ours couldn't give us the time of day. There were plenty of people behind the bar, and the restaurant was full but not packed. This was a Wednesday night, and from the moment we sat at the bar until we left, he ignored us.... We had to flag him down to get him to serve our first drink, second and third. The only time he spent with us was when we asked about the whisky to get some. We had to flag him down to place an order, and sadly didn't even get all that we ordered. We were completely ignored, until he dropped off the check without us asking for it. Clearly this man wanted us to leave and so we did. Since we didn't eat at their booths or tables, there might have been a difference experience. But this was our and it's sad. read more

It almost masked the rawness of the fish without masking the overall flavor!!! Try both of these rolls! Cons: No major cons. I will say the price for a bottle of pineapple sake was 35-40 bucks (bummer). This is a normal wine size bottle too. Quick Tips: Try the pineapple sake (yummer lummer lummm). Also, try something new and try not to think about the raw fish. For a long time I would say no to trying the fish because I heard raw used (a psychological thing).
