If you've been searching for that new, special place - this is not it. It's not because the food isn't good either. The ambience is also on point. I loved the hanging fish, lighting and couches. It was modern but comfortable. Things really went weird when I told the waitresses I signed up for a free appetizer and she said I'd be able to use it the next time. It was rather weird, and left a bad taste in my mouth. I've never, ever had someone say I couldn't use a coupon that had already been sent to me previously. I had the reward available, and also never asked for my account number as you can supposedly earn rewards on your purchase. The poke bowl is maybe one of the biggest money grabs I've ever seen. Although good (nothing special), the waitress asked if I wanted rice - which is an entirely separate cost. If I had opted not to get the rice, there maybe would have been 3/4 cup of fish and seaweed salad combined. This cost $26 plus whatever it was for the rice. Incredibly overpriced and basic. With so many restaurants in the area, it wasn't a surprise this one was virtually empty on a Saturday night. It'd be no suprise if it was closed within two years. It offers no surprises with prices that give you an impression of food, service and experience that is elevated - don't fall for it. read more

Utah has such unexpected weather and I was in Riverton simply buying something off Facebook marketplace when a tremendous rain and wind storm started and I ran for shelter. I happened to run into Kona Grill and was instantly welcomed into a fun upbeat restaurant with huge windows on the south and west walls. I grabbed a seat at the bar where Brandon & Sara took such special care of me even though the restaurant was extremely busy with drink orders piling up. Based on the name I was expecting more Polynesian style food and I wasn't far off, it's a more upscale entrees for Utah. I ordered off their summer feature menu and loved every bit. Should have known with all the bad reviews and the ease to get a table for 6 on a Saturday night at 7pm. What a disaster, pros: my food tasted great! Cons: the food is outrageously overpriced, the service is piss poor and then they top it off with a Walmart worthy self checkout contraption. If you want to charge prices like this the service has to be spot on, our waitress was almost harassing us for an order, followed by delivering the check and pay machine well before we were done. To add insult to injury the machine only gives you an option for a receipt via text or email which is an obvious ploy for information to use for marketing so i declined, i then asked the asian manager for a check and he has the nerve to give me lip about "i should have done that before closing my check" the lack of service in this place is appalling and we will never ever set foot here again. Once upon a time, a mother decided to treat herself to a special Mother's Day celebration. She made a reservation at a seemingly promising hotspot, lured by the idea of an all-you-can-eat buffet in a fun, lively setting. The family, full of hope and excitement, arrived early, ready to make cherished memories. But then, the plot twist: we were seated first, only to be completely forgotten. Twenty-five minutes passed. No one spoke to us. No one offered us a drink. We were about as acknowledged as a salad bar in a steakhouse. I walked up to the front to politely ask for some assistance, feeling like an ignored side character in my own Mother's Day story. Another 45 minutes dragged by, and still nothing. No food. No service. Not even a fleeting glance from the staff. It was like we'd slipped into some bizarre restaurant purgatory where you're seated but never served, condemned to stare longingly at plates you'll never taste. Finally, hearts heavy and patience shattered, we left. I muttered to the host that we were leaving due to the complete lack of service, and was met with a level of indifference typically reserved for junk mail. When I later called to speak to a manager, I was told he was "in a meeting," which was a fun little lie since he was actually wandering around, delivering food - just not to us. I called again, and again, and was hung up on each time. So, thank you, Kona Grill, for turning my Mother's Day into an emotional endurance test. I will forever remember 2025 as the year you ruined my Mother's Day, perhaps the way you ruined your own mother's hopes and dreams. The food here was delicious and unique with ties back to Hawaii. I got the macadamia nut chicken which was slightly overcooked and my fiancé got the 12 oz ribeye. Both were great! Mine came with delicious whipped mashed potatoes and green beans. I loved my cocktails as well! I ordered the mini raspberry mojitos and the porch bubbles. They were awesome drinks. My fiancé and I agreed we would come back but maybe on special occasions. The dinner was $140 for two people. So it's on the pricier end. Our waitress was super nice. Food took about 15-20 mins to come out but it was an extremely busy night for Valentine's Day. The ambiance is awesome with cool lighting, music playing and the bar. If I could give 0 I would. Me and my husband have a two month old baby and this was our first outing out together since. We were so excited to have a romantic date and try a new place for dinner. We sat for I kid you not, an hour and 30 mins waiting for our food not even to get our food on the table. The lead chef and our waiter came out and told us the kitchen was out of our food. They told us they could give us a one entire for free and even then we had to wait for that. But did we even get to sit down and eat that? No. They shoved it in a to go box and told us to pay for our drinks and leave basically. Absolutely shocking to say the least and we're pretty easy going as I'm sure they could say as well. The family at the table next to us with 6 people all got their food though, as well as a free meal and dessert for the wait and they showed up 30 mins after! Thankfully they got their meal, I hope it was at least good. We got to the car and tasted the meal they put in the box and it wasn't even seasoned lol. $70 meal that tasted very average unfortunately, and that's not just because of the service received. Really truly sad that we didn't get our date night and wish we would've got fast food and stayed home with our new born. What a nice addition to Mountain View Village! I think they have a few things they need to work out but they're still worth a try. My husband and I went on a Saturday night and got sat right away at a table across from the bar. I'm not sure if it's because we were also in front of the DJ, but like others have mentioned, it was so loud. Although it was loud, the music played was great. I found it a bit odd that there was a kiosk at the table. It had the option to call your server over. Maybe some like this idea but it seemed like they're not sure whether to be a fine dining place or what... We ordered the pad Thai noodles with chicken, the surf and turf with shrimp skewers and sweet chili green beans, and sushi and salad combo. This combo came with any choice of a traditional roll, Asian salad, and one piece of shrimp, tuna, and salmon. The sweet chili green beans were the best thing on the surf and turf dish. The ribeye had no flavor so we packed on some salt and pepper. The sushi and salad was very delicious and I'd definitely order that again. We ended up putting some of the salad in with the pad Thai because the pad Thai noodles were so bland. I do not recommend the pad Thai noodles as the portion is very small and more expensive than the sushi and salad combo. The service was good but it took awhile to get our meal. Overall we enjoyed our dinner but for the price, I'd wait a few more months to return. They do have a happy hour so maybe consider trying that out first. read more

The food is way overpriced for what you are receiving. Ordered the ribeye and lobster. My ribeye was so thin and had zero marbling and for $60 a plate all I got was a flat overcooked steak with a shriveled half of a lobster tail and some boiled fingerling potatoes. If I was paying a reasonable price maybe I wouldn't be so disappointed but even Texas Steakhouse has better steak at half the price and at least your sides are included. Im on the fence if Id try Kona again. The vibes in the restaurant are great and the cocktail menu makes for a really cool date night but the food just....sucked. My husband got the Australian Wagyu Picanha and it was SALTY. Like crazy salty. It also came with a side of potatoes that didnt have much thought put into them. For $54 this dish is just lacking. I had the sweet chili glazed salmon it was cooked well bit super sweet there was no "chili". I got miso whipped potatoes instead of rice and they sucked. The potatoes were undercooked and the had huge chunks in the scoop. They didnt taste like anything at all. I know Kona is a chain but cooking potatoes is beginner level cooking. Also why are the kids meals bigger than the adult? We paid $200 for our dinner and left underwhelmed Our server was amazing. She was super patient with our toddler which we really appreciate. Met some friends here last night and we shared potstickers, clam chowder, lettuce wraps, coconut shrimp roll, and calamari. The only thing that was actually edible was the shrimp roll. The potstickers were cold, the calamari was rubbery, the chowder was way too fishy, and the lettuce wraps were only palatable if you drenched them in sauce. Let's start by saying this place is very cute and aesthetically pleasing! Buttt omggg the amount of freaking flies that are in this place, I'm so sorry I wanted to get up and leave. We sat inside! Our appetizer was the meatballs and that was pretty good! If you get that you really don't need to get a second plate. It was pretty filling I ordered a poke bowl with salmon/tuna mixed. I sent it back. I had one bite and sent it back. It just did not look fresh. I definitely wouldn't order that. Then we got the steak with crab and green beans. I thought the "crab patty" was going to literally be a crab cake. It wasn't. It was chopped up crab put on top of steak. The steak was pretty good though, I'd say 7/10 Honestly it was just really hard to eat with all the flies flying around and sometimes landing on our food I wouldn't come back but they said they're opening a roof top soon and it'll be 21+ so maybe I'll come back for that! read more

Had been super excited to try this place, but I think they are still working out a lot of kinks. Service was decent, but main server was slammed and training someone else. Water fills, and replacements for utensils came after food arrived. Anyway, we did the happy hour menu, and that was better than the main menu. I had the NY strip. Seemed like a small portion. Others in the party had the Macedonia chicken and the double burger. Chicken was over cooked, and bland. Burger was decent. Overall, it was ok. If it's too busy for the staff on hand, maybe not seat as many people, or figure out a way to make it awesome for those who waited well over 30 minutes for main dishes to show up. I would like to try the happy hour again when they open the rooftop patio. In the end, not worth the $250 for 4 people (drinks, happy hour and mains) seeing how the food was slow, and expectations not met. Last, it's a pretty cool location inside. Cool ambiance - love the fish tank haha. Ordered a variety of items from the menu, and was overall pleased. Calamari was good! Service was fairly good. Someone else mentioned the shrimp tacos were nothing but pure heat. I asked for the chipotle mayo on the side, and even without a drip of sauce, I was scorched. The shrimp tacos were by far the spiciest shrimp tacos I've had in my entire life. I was absolutely shocked that something with that level of heat, came with no warning on the menu. I like some heat with my shrimp tacos, but this was mind boggling levels of intensity. I couldn't finish my meal. Staff handled my grievance well, hence a 4 star review. I was really looking forward to Kona Grill opening. Unfortunately it is added to the list of disappointments. First, our server was very nice and I do appreciate that, unfortunately, it was clear that management is pushing there staff to upsell customers in any and every way possible. The two menu items recommended were of course the most expensive, and we were asked multiple times if we wanted to add a $5 soup or salad to our meal. I mean come in, "It's only $5." Next, the food itself. The problem I have with KG is that when you are average at a lot of things, your aren't great at anything. Kona Grill doesn't seem to do anything great. The food all seemed average. Last is the biggest issue. There are tablets on the tables for paying for your food as well as entertainment. My two year old started playing a game in the tablet, later when our bill came we were charged $2.99 for the games. An additional $3 is not going ti break the bank. But with no warning of a charge it felt extremely tacky as it is clear Kona Grill just wants to take every penny they possibly can. Overpriced mediocre food with a rather pushy staff. We went to Kona Grill recently and had the absolute slowest service. 7 of us went to lunch on a Saturday. There were only 3 other tables that had customers and they were all less than 4 people. It took an hour and a half to get our food. After an hour and ten minutes, they came out and said they were just waiting on some bearnaise sauce because it had congealed. Then it was another twenty minutes until we actually got our food. There was no apology and the bearnaise sauce excuse was poor at best. Considering the food is good but not great and the price is well above the food quality, the service should have been on par. Will not go back. read more

She was professional and personable. Always a plus in my book. We arrived in-between the lunch rush and dinner. So, it wasn't busy at all. You could tell the wait staff were still in recovery mode from the lunch rush. You know sweeping, folding napkins with utensils for the night crew ect. We ordered and the meals came out promptly, nice and hot. Now, the reason I gave it just 4 stars. My meal I ordered had a lot of unnecessary garnishes on my plate (Not a really big deal. But just how many garnishments need to be on a past plate?). Not a just a lot of one type of garnishment but like 3 different types of garnishments. The quality vs quantity. Both were not up to the price points. While the food was good, even looked good and yes even smelled good. The food didn't seem to match up with the price we paid for or the amount we got. Think, slightly above Applebee's in taste but at a higher cost with less food. Although, they had just opened up. So, I'm going to assume that Kona Grill was just working though the usual braking in period. Yes, we would definitely go back, hopefully they can get seasoned enough to change my review to a 5 star. read more

We went to Kona Grill yesterday, October 6th for my mom's birthday. It wasn't busy at all at 5:30pm so we thought we would be in and out quickly so we could get to our movie on time. They didn't put us in the main dining area, but in the atrium bar area where the music was blasting and we couldn't hear each other talk. We were the only people in there and were definitely forgotten about on several occasions. The service was actually horrible. The staff acted like it was their first day on the job, and were not very friendly. We ordered our food, and it showed up 45 minutes later. That's insane for a place that was not busy. It's honestly way overpriced for what you get. When we were finished eating, my mom wanted to order the butter cake, and a very rude girl said she would have to go look if they had any. She took 10 minutes and then came back and said they didn't have any. We were so irritated at this point that we asked for the check, and she took another 10 minutes. I'm incredibly disappointed that my mom had a horrible birthday dinner, and we will not be going back. read more

Been eager to try Kona grill for a while. Found some friends and headed over. Initial thought was that the place was fun and eventually found the music to be too loud to carry on a conversation. The service was great and we were well taken care of. Pad Thai - 3 stars - very low on the protein. We order it with chicken and shrimp and found 4 shrimp for the extra $8 we were charged. The chicken was in small pieces. Low on sauce. Flavor was fine but nothing to get excited about. Portion felt very small. Miso Sake Sea Bass - 2 stars - Really not great. The bok choy was fine. Flavor did not taste much like miso. When I order sea bass I'm used to a 1.5-2 inch filet. We got a 1/2 inch filet. Being a signature dish in the $40 range I was hoping for something special. Major disappointment. Overall the best thing I can say was that the wait was not long. The Coke Zero was plentiful. Not sure we will make it back with all the new places popping up in the area. read more

The sushi was really good with many options to select from. My wife tried the macadamia nut chicken breast and the flavor was outstanding and the chicken tender. One of my daughters tried the cilantro lime chicken that comes with rice and she really enjoyed it. Another daughter tried the lemon garlic penne pasta with chicken and she enjoyed it. I tried the fillet with crab Oscar. The crab Oscar was really really good, I wished I could make it like that. The fillet was over cooked so instead of tender and juicy it was instead dry and chewy.
