I saw the truck near the park.... I don't remember the park name, but I know there's another truck that sells ice cream next to it. The service was the best. Actually,the best service ever! The server greeted me with a smile,asked me how my day was, kindly asked what my order would be, then said goodbye. So far,this is my favorite dessert place. And for the decorations,you'd HAVE to come. The flavors get an adjective like the groovy grape and mystery flavor, and the truck has a cute penguin art on it. Very tropical and captivating. Thank you so much to Kona Shaved Ice for hosting our small First Day of Summer Celebration for work! Jenni, the owner, was informative and responded really quickly to our inquiry. The truck arrived right on time and setup was super quick. What I loved about this truck was that the line went by quickly, which can often be an issue when you are serving a lot of employees at once. Each employee was given a small cup of shaved ice and a spoon, then was able to head to the left side of the truck to add whatever flavoring they'd like. They offer a pretty big variety of flavors, but my personal favorite was Tiger's Blood. This tasted like a mixture of Pina Colada and cherry/strawberry - highly recommend! Kona Ice is first of all... ridiculously delicious! I never was into shaved ice before.. but even on a rainy Saturday in MAY (of all times?!).. it was amazing. I actually would probably have it over ice cream.. which is saying a lot. My husband and toddlers loved it too. Besides the quality of their product, they were amazing in coming out to our nonprofit fundraising event for Silicon Valley Twins and Triplets. Weather turned our event into what we didn't expect.. a lot lower turnout and I'm sure not as many purchases since it was in the 60's . But the owner was super professional and friendly, and hung out the whole event. Same with the girls helping in the truck. I will definitely always be a patron if I see the truck, will probably hunt it down on hot days, and hope they come to our event next year (hoping) it's better weather! read more

Sweet, refreshing shaved ice on a bright, sunny day-- who could resist? Kona Ice catered my work event the Friday before Independence Day. Catchy beach tunes tinkling away set the Island mood. The only things missing were mango and guava syrup! They did have piña colada, along with sugar free options upon request. Four sizes available: small, medium, the color changing cup, and large. Price ranges from $3-6, with $3 refills for the two largest sizes. Fees waived for this event since my company paid! I got the color changing reusable cup and was handed my favorite color orange! Coincidence, but I was ecstatic. Self serve the 10 flavors; I got watermelon, cherry, and orange. The cold parts of the cup turned reddish pink, to my delight. The fundraisers are great for the PTA and Kona Ice.....but more importantly community building as kids and parents stay after school to socialize. We had this for a weekend work event once, and it was pretty cool. They parked on the street and served snow cones; the syrup is outside the truck so we got to pick our own flavors and mix however we want. The snow cones is basically mashed snow, and the flavors are syrup. I didn't get too much syrup because I didn't want it to be too sweet, and the ice held up pretty nicely and didn't melt too quickly. If I can give Dave more than 5 stars I would. I had Kona Ice WSJ come to my son's 8th birthday party and it was a huge hit! All the kids (including the parents) were so excited. The truck showed up playing a hawaiian version of happy birthday song and Dave (owner) had the biggest smile on his face. Dave gave each of the kids a cup of shaved ice and the kids can go to the side an use the flavor dispensers themself and put whatever flavor they want on the ice. It was SO awesome!
