Ran in for a quick lunch today with a make your own bowl. We shared one bowl and it was plenty for both of us. I gotta say that I LOVE this place. The staff is spot-on and ultra friendly ( especially for a moderately busy Saturday afternoon. They will Walk you through the process of bowl building and are super patient. If you haven't tried them you should really stop in! We didn't get the Dole whip this time, but I know I will be thinking ima out it until the next time we come for a slower lunch; its fabulous. One side note that I think doesn't get enough space in records is the drink choices. They have pineapple vanilla, cherry, root beer, and Pepsi if you'd rather be boring . What stands out was the service by two very nice young ladies. Admitted to them this was our first so looking for guidance which is exactly what they did for us. Great Poke Spot I come here relatively often and have never had a bad experience. The Poke is good I always go for the Shoyu tuna and would recommend! They have a decent selection of toppings, bases and proteins. Kona poke is always clean on the inside and the kitchen looks very clean from what I can see as well. I built a bowl and there are endless options to choose! They have both raw and cooked proteins. I also appreciate the fact that they have a plant-based option for cheaper, since they aren't choosing the protein options. Everything looked fresh and tasted even fresher. There were ample sauces to choose from and even macadamia nuts for a $1 up charge, which I've never seen at a poke spot. They have fancy water to choose from spring water and Core pH + kombucha. The employees are super courteous and let my mom sample the meat without issue. I can tell the girl working likes the food a lot because she was enthusiastic about certain items like the spicy seaweed salad which I had never had before. It was delicious! They say "aloha" to each customer who comes in too! Downside: You only get 6 toppings then they charge you 50 cents for each one afterwards. We had low expectations going in but we were craving a poke bowl so we gave it a shot. We ordered the Kona Fire, $14. It comes with Ahi tuna, avocado, crunch, spice and seasoning. You can get different bases, with sushi rice, brown rice, spinach or lettuce. You gotta get the white rice in a poke bowl. If you're not feeling any of the premade bowls, you can always create your own I love that Kona Poke gives you free samples of the dole whip. They were offering an orange pineapple swirl. It was different but I think I prefer the traditional pineapple flavor. Great spot to grab a quick poke bowl for a reasonable price. I have been wanting to try one of these locations. I was greeted by friendly staff immediately. I like that there are a few tables inside and outside for dining. There are lots of menu options for your bowl. I chose to build my own bowl. The bowls are very generous in size. All the items are fresh. My bowl cost around $16. It was a great experience. Portions vs other poke places near by are way smaller. Quality is good, but the price vs amount of proteins and portion size is not worth it compared to other Poke places. In San Francisco I used to get 4 proteins + crab, and a bowl I could split into two meals for around $15, and this one was a much smaller bowl, with 2 proteins for $18. read more

My husband and I stopped in yesterday for a late lunch, and we had a really good experience. We split a mini kona fire bowl, a kalua pork platter, a soda, and a dole whip. The location has GREAT decor and colors. It was also really clean and organized. The service was fast, friendly, and helpful. I added cucumbers, tomato, carrot and ponzu to the bowl and had a base of half rice and half spinach. The bowl was packed full of veggies, was fresh, and hit the spot! The pork platter was a little disappointing. They seemed to use the wrong cut of pork because it a bit dry and lacked the slight oily, juiciest of the traditional Hawaiian pork. The macaroni salad was good, but traditional potato mac salad that you get in Hawaii would have been a game changer! It was my first time trying Dole whip and it hit the spot with its light, Creamy, refreshing taste. Rating from F to A +++, we give it an A+, just because of the pork platter. The staff at Kona Poke are always so nice and ask about your day. The restaurant is clean and the line moves fast. I always order the Kona fire. I add mango, onion and ginger to my bowl. The ingredients are fresh and they have a variety of mix-ins. I eat here about three times a month and crave Poke often. My brother and I had lunch at Kona Poke in Sanford today. We decided to build our own mini poke bowls and selected salmon and yellowfin tuna with various toppings. There were many options to choose from, but we decided not to include the avocado crab eggs as they cost an extra dollar. I added a fountain drink and a miso soup to one of the mini bowls, and the total bill came out to just under $32. Even though we were responsible for bringing our food to the table and disposing of the trash, I felt awkward not leaving a tip. I ended up leaving a 10% tip. The background music playing was trendy pop, which made for a good atmosphere while we ate. read more

I tried Kona for the first time and had a make your own poke bowl today. The ingredients were so fresh and the bowl was absolutely delicious. I spent around $12 for the small bowl but it was plenty of food for being considered the smaller portion - couldn't finish it all. You can barely get a fast food meal for that price and this was so much healthier and delicious. The staff inside were super friendly and did a great job! I will definitely be back!!! read more

Decided to try this place out on a whim as we were out running errands and needed a quick place to eat. I was surprised to see inside so empty; there was only one couple there and they were eating outside. Walking in we were greeted right away and walked through what they offer. There was only one guy working there at the time and he was very helpful and patient. My fiancé and I each built our own Poké bowls and they were pretty good, but nothing out of this world. I love a good Poké bowl and I still enjoyed mine but I've had better. This brings me to my next point: the pricing. Personally, I'd say it's a bit overpriced. It felt like every little tiny thing had an extra charge to it and some just didn't make sense. I understand some items are okay to have that, but those extra charges added up quickly and all of the sudden it became the expensive lunch we were trying to avoid. Variety of protein, toppings, marinades, sauces, & don't forget the crunchies! They also have Stubborn sofa & flavored teas. And don't forget their frozen soft serve in chocolate or pineapple. This review is an update to my original one. I ordered online through their website during the pandemic. Ordering was a breeze! I chose my pickup time and off I went to pick it up. My order was waiting for me and I could not WAIT to dig in. My last order was their regular sized poke bowl and remembered it was just too much food for me. This time I opted for their kids portion of a tuna bowl. I got the wasabi soy and eel sauce to mix in with everything. A little green onion, wasabi, ginger and tobiko eggs and my creation was complete. I was sooo satisfied and surprisingly filled after that meal. The ingredients are fresh and they do a good job with flavoring their tuna and offering a lot of toppings! Being a sushi snob, an asian home cooked food brat; I love sticking to my authentic roots but since we are in America, not bad with flavor! Oh, and I love their variety with their soda brand! Their tea and lemonade flavors, so good also! It doesn't compare to anything but if you are a soda brand drinker, you may have an issue! My favorite soda here, Acai! I couldn't decide between the teas and lemonade because they were all good!! So today, I ordered the classic tuna bowl with the berry and mint tea. I recommend adding the onion crunchies with sesame seed along with everything else that comes with ordering the signature bowls. I also recommend adding sesame oil and the yellow hot sauce with it! My biggest recommendation is possibly offering a bigger bowl (it's a wee bit on the bitty side). I also recommend visiting on a Tuesday for a Tuna bowl! Tuna Tuesday offers a free drink with a tuna bowl! I really think it's worth taking advantage of the fountain drinks this way! Free drink + tuna bowl = $9.99 on Tuna Tuesday! Be forewarned! I made a second trip to Kona Poke and my thoughts about it have changed slightly. Honestly for $15ish (bowl with combo and crab upcharge), it really doesn't seem like its worth the price. I personally think the bowls are way too small for that price point. The miso soup tasted pretty good my first trip but I was not a huge fan of it my second trip. It's still a unique place to stop by and the staff is very friendly. However be prepared for a medium portion with a higher price point.
