Jimmy Hula's Surfari Jerk Shrimp Burrito
    Karlynn H.

We use to come here 2-3x a month but in the name of saving some money, we haven't been in a little while. Why do I share this? The staff still remembered us and they are super friendly and provide great service every time. I still love to eat out of course and support local and small business, and Jimmy Hula's never disappoints. Maybe it's the nostalgia of my San Diego upbringing, hanging at the beach every summer, enjoying beach food of fish tacos, burritos and a fusion of un poco Mexicano meets Americano in a twist of perfect sun and surf culinary goodness! All of it - the bowls, burritos, burgers, tacos, fish sandwich - so good, so reasonable as portions are satisfying. They have their own hot sauce and highly recommend Jalapeño Business for a zesty green sauce with more flavor than heat. My only complaint is we don't have a Jimmy's in Lake Nona and we have to drive to Winter Park for the closest location.

Food. Baja taco, voodoo taco, kids fish nuggets , zucchini fries.

Food was okay. Quality has gone down since the last I came here. Food is expensive for what it is. Didn't even eat the zucchini fries. Everything was either too salty or bland. Kid hardly touched his food. There is no a.c so it gets very very warm. I was uncomfortable and left quickly. Service was good. It's a shame since I've been coming to jimmy hulas for a long time but this will be the last visit.

I used to have brunch at the Altamonte location but the vibe and quality of food changed. In the neighborhood here and tried them and they are amazing! The atmosphere has great vibes and food is awesome with a good feeling about it. Tried the teriyaki chicken bowl, blackened chicken and it's delicious. The Mojo fries are delicious! The Baja tacos too are delicious. Service is friendly too. Definitely will be coming back for more.

Had to make a quick trip to Orlando yesterday and decided to stop at what I believe to be the original Jimmy Hula's in Winter Park. It was OK. I really miss the Jimmy Hula's we had pretty close to me in Jax. No frills service. Walk up order and they bring out the food. We ate outside and it was very comfortable. J had the Wipeout and Bangin Beef tacos along with some Cajun fries. The food was pretty good.

I was reluctant to reveal this gem publicly, for selfish reasons. Jimmy Hulas is special for my family and me. It's the local place we frequent after baseball games, TGIF, or just because. When the weather is nice, the high tops outside (with a view of the game) are my favorite. My boys normally order the Burnt Reynolds- which is a bacon burger with a fried egg & chips inside of it. The Kingston Tacos and Zucchini fries always hit for me, but everything we've ever tried is fantastic. My husband likes the poke bowl and one of my picky eaters won't adventure past quesadilla and fries. Importantly, the ambiance is everything- from staff and service to other patrons- everyone is consistently kind and positive. Yes, visit, but please protect my gem.

    Taco Tuesday

I have been coming to Jimmy Hula's since I was a college student and over 10 years later I still love it! The Taco Tuesday deal is one of the cheapest lunches you can get in town and it's 2 tacos (choose between The Standard and/or Street taco), chips and a drink! You order at the counter and food is brought out to you. The servers will also check on you and clear your food, as well as refill your drink. The servers are always kind and friendly. The vibes inside are like being at a chill beach day with reggae music typically playing. There's indoor and covered out door seating with fans. Even in the summer, it's not too bad to sit outside. I have tried almost everything on the menu and love all of it! The tacos I got this day were flavorful and delicious. I will be back!

It had been a few years since I'd been to a Jimmy Hula's. A frequent stop of mine in the early 2010's, my go-to location at UCF has since closed, and I was curious to see if it still holds up. I'm happy to say the food is every bit as good as I remember. The staff was extremely accommodating and I could tell they kept the place surprisingly clean. I ordered the Baja fish taco and the Luau chicken taco. Both were exceptional, but I prefer the Luau. I added a side of Voodoo Sauce, a must-have for extra flavor and some chip dipping. I will say the price was a bit steep. It was $15 for two tacos and a water with a $2 tip. On this visit, I found out they make their own hot sauce and furthermore discovered one that I really like called Awesome Sauce, a peach chili sauce that might be my new favorite. Only $6/bottle. All in all, superb visit and I'll be stopping by again soon.

    Aloha burger and mojo fries

Jimmy Hula's has been one of my favorite restaurants for years. Their aloha burger (burger with pineapple) has always been my go to along with a side of mojo fries. It's a truly delicious combination. The only reason I don't go more is because the closest location is 30 minutes away. My boyfriend likes getting the Kahuna burger with the truffle parm fries. My other family likes their tacos. Truly the best smash burger in Orlando. Unlike most smash burgers which I find dry, this one is delicious. The service is always quick and the employees are always nice. The decor is reminiscent of like a burger shack on the beach and I always enjoy sitting outside.

I am so sad it has taken me this long to try Jimmy Hula's! We were so impressed with the restaurant! The menu is pretty extensive and has some really great options including tacos, burgers, burritos, bowls and fries! I got the Aloha Burger and it was yummy! The patty was juicy and it had lots of flavor! Now the fries are truly the star! We tried the Jerk fries and Mojo fries and they were both AMAZING! I would go here just for the fries. The seasoning and sauces were great, and they were really crispy. The staff was amazing and super friendly! Service was fast and there was lots of seating options both inside and outside. You order your food at the counter, grab a seat and then they bring your food out to you. The restaurant has a beachy vibe and is very relaxed. Fantastic food for a "fast food" restaurant and I will definitely be back for some more fries!

1st time experience for this Cali-Mex & creative varieties of menu. Love the vibes of the establishment, laid back feel with lots of Cali nostalgic decors. Will be back and strongly recommend this place!!

Run--don't walk-- to JH for their Friday special all lent long . $10 big fish sandwich was perfect! They also do $5 fish tacos on Friday. Aside from that we love the menu variety and 90s reggae-rock atmosphere. Daughter loves to play the arcade game in the dining room

Does Jimmy Hulas have low sodium food? How's the salt content in their food? My husband is very sensitive to salt so we have to be careful where we go and what he orders.

The skimpy amount of seafood I got was not good, not cooked well, or served with undercooked potatoes. It shook me. Especially for a Winter Park restaurant. After my five year statute of limitations passed on repeating restaurants, I looked for the perfect opportunity to come back and try again. I found that opportunity recently with a few friends for brunch. Their brunch menu looked amazing, so we made our reservation and came on by. Ambiance is actually really nice. Right off one of the main WP roads, gigantic windows look out upon the street as passersby roam from shop to shop. Inside looks like an ocean-side sea shack, but an upper middle class one. Very nice little ocean-themed chotchkies adorn the walls, very cozy. Service was also great. Very nice server, very prompt food delivery, and they gave complimentary bread with a delightful butter. I always adore free bread. We started off sharing the Seafood Fritters (Four savory puppies, stuffed with lobster, shrimp, scallops, clams, grouper, onions, corn, poblano peppers, served with a zesty tartar sauce). If all five of those seafoods really were in there, there must have been only a few molecules each, but there was undoubtedly flavors from most of that list, and they were accentuated with the poblano. Topped with that zesty tartar, and this was an A+ app. I had the Lobster Benedict Royale (Chunks of Maine lobster on fried green tomatoes & house-baked buttermilk biscuits, topped with poached eggs & Hollandaise, sprinkled with paprika & chopped green onions). This was indulgent. Pure luxury. A warm biscuit with a good flakiness, that fried green tomato with the perfect thickness and thin, delicate coating, and those perfectly cooked jumbo chunks of lobster on top, all covered in an unctuous Hollandaise. Exactly as it sounds, as advertised, the perfect seafood brunch item. I also got to try the Shrimp Frittata (Wild-caught Florida shrimp, fresh eggs, spinach, Campari tomatoes, goat cheese, caramelized onions, baked in a cast-iron skillet, with wheat toast, butter & a little mixed green salad). This was a fun dish. Good shrimps, well-cooked eggs, a nice tang from that goat, and of course a nice crunchy toast to help make it even more interesting. I didn't like that random salad on the side. Just get bigger cast irons and make the frittata bigger. Overall, what a redemption. I'm not sure what was wrong back in the day, but this is a five star place now that I will happily return to when it's time.

No flavor at all. Let me start with the coconut shrimp, no flavor just drop fried. French fries were good but no seasoning. The lobster bisk was horrible. Again no flavor and very giddy with tiny sherds of lobster. Mac and cheese tasted like microwave food. My husband had fried scallops and although it didn't have much flavor they were pretty good. All in all great for all the seniors that were there but not for younger folks or anyone who likes to taste their food. Sadly to say won't be returning.

Made a reservation for 7 p.m. Arrived a bit early and had to kill some time at the bar, as they were only seating on-time. We all agreed the Ceviche was the most bland we have ever tasted. Served sans lime wedges, which might have helped, but not much. The Crush Puppies were also meh. Rather small portion that appeared to be fried a bit too long. The other cocktail I ordered from their bar menu (grilled cheese and pickle one) was again miniature-looking. Our entrées were a step up from our apps, at least. I was very disappointed that my top pick, the Cioppino, had just sold out. Guess that was a popular dish on Mother's Day. My daughter's Truffle Bucatini had a satisfying flavor. Service was fine. The hostess, however, wasn't all that friendly or helpful. The interior is nicely styled and has an upscale feel with verdant plants tucked here and there. The central bar has an enticing vibe. Overall though, it was an expensive outing that failed to impress us.

We had left over of all the above and it all reheated well at home later that night. The so-so: Har gow was made with intact small shrimp and not chopped up jumbo shrimp so the texture of the filling is off, the wrapper was nice though. Shu mai was also texturally off which led to lack in flavor, there was no distinct difference between the pork and shrimp in it. Shrimp steamed rice roll has the same situation of having the small shrimp which just aren't as flavorful or texturally tasty. When the soup dumplings came, they did not offer any spoons to eat it with. I asked twice for some soup spoons and they only brought over metal ones that weren't big enough for the dumplings. Also ask for vinegar for the table. Love the shrimp chips they give you when you first sit down and the plate of condiments! Server was very nice and the prices are decent. In terms of the food, it was all really wonderful. The chicken and dumplings came with this delicious sauce that I couldn't get enough off. The potato dumplings were alright, but the seasoning and mix of the sauce was perfect for the chicken. The serving size was good as well and there was barely any bone to interrupt eating it. My girlfriend said that the steak was cooked perfectly medium as they asked. The steak sauce paired really well, and they had enough for leftovers, and enjoyed it even more the day after. The Mac & cheese was alright, we just wish there had been more of a crunch to the cheese. However, we both really liked the shape of the pasta as we don't really see those as often. Also not depicted here, but we got the cocktail shrimp. My girlfriend loved this one too, specifically noting how large and cold the shrimps were. The cocktail sauce was delicious and had a nice kick to it, and definitely squeeze the lemon that comes with it on the shrimp. Since it was an anniversary, they surprised us with complimentary dessert that was phenomenal. My girlfriend doesn't really like cheesecake or coconut, but somehow loved the dessert.
